DESCRIPTION
As War loomed upon the horizon, the armament’s division of the Republic Engineering Corporation sought to outfit the armed forces of the Galactic Alliance with new weaponry. Something that would give them a much-needed edge in battle that would likely be the deciding factor between claiming victory or embracing a bitter defeat. So, in choosing a weapon to base their newest creation on, the technical architects found themselves fascinated by the ancient WESTER M5 Blaster carbine. While seemingly Mandalorian in origin, this weapon provided the ancient warriors of the Galactic Republic with an indescribable boon. Not only did the weapon offer room for a range of additional attachments, which made the rifle perfect for special operations groups, but it came with a high-capacity drum cartridge. This enhanced plasma cell gave the bearer a vast reservoir of plasmatic lethality to draw from - which on those ancient battlefields - was a welcomed and beloved feature.

Thus, the only thing that truly changed when the weapon was dredged up from the past - was that the primary method of lethality was altered to a particle beam-based system, rather than the traditional blaster-based one. The reasoning for this change was sound, as particle-based weaponry was - while marginally more unstable than traditional blaster weaponry - was the perfect counter to the seemingly endless number of Rogue Force Wielder’s popping up across the known Universe. The bolts made it almost impossible to reflect back at the Soldier wielding the weapon, as their plasmatic bolt burst on contact with their target - likely bathing the Sabre-jockey in a shower of plasma. Such a functionality made it perfect to strike at the more exotic forms of shielding as well since the incoherency of their discharge after impact made it almost impossible to reform the bolt and send it back from whence it came.

With the particle beam technology woven into the framework of the REC-DC/05 Particle Blaster Rifle; Hawk-bat Pattern, the technical architects began working on the various modern enhancements that would be added.

The most notable item that found itself integrated into the weapon’s design was the web of supporting systems that further enhanced the lethality of the plasmatic discharge. Through the various additions that were built into the weapon, the particle blaster would be capable of super-charging the unstable bolt - which in turn were capable of blasting chunks off, and likely through duracrete barricades. Sadly, however, this increase in lethality came at a cost - as the more power that was needed to super-charge the bolts would rapidly deplete the specialized plasma cartridge. It was a trade-off that would be well-worth the rapid expenditure of the drum-styled plasma cartridge. Especially since the lethality of the plasmatic bolt could counter even the most well-armoured and battle-hardened targets. Which, as more and more hostile forces sought to prey upon the Galactic Alliance and their would-be allies - such a boon on the battlefield was indescribable.

Adding onto its variable lethality, the Hawk-bat was outfitted with an underslung attachment rail that was capable of playing host to additional weapons systems, which greatly expanded the weapon’s functionality on the battlefield. Sadly, however, the attachment rail was only capable of supporting one additional weapon system at a time. But, despite this unfortunate drawback due to balancing the weight and size of the weapon, it would provide a seemingly infinite mixture of support weaponry among heavily-armed squads of Alliance soldiers. Thus with the Hawk-bat in hand, it was likely that the Galactic Alliance Defence Force would dominate the battlefields of tomorrow with their inherent tactical flexibility.
