BIOGRAPHY:
Velok the Youngest, called Brokentusk, is the grandson of the Sith Lord Velok the Younger (born circa 700, retired circa 858), the notable archivist and writer, and the great-grandson of the Sith Lord Velok the Elder (born circa 640, killed in both 835 and 836). He spent most of his early life on Gertafuu/Akrugh and Toola under their collective thumb, despite the fact that his grandfather and great-grandfather hated each other. When his grandfather retired and became physically infirm incident to certain rituals, Velok went from assistant to part-time caretaker.

He came into his own as a Sith marauder, hunt leader, ship captain, and raider; his exploits included fighting the Bryn'adul and extorting one billion credits from a Jedi prince. (The money went toward building up and securing his people, whose homeworld was right at the edge of Bryn'adul and Sith expansion.)

At the height of his power, a full Sith Knight, incipient sorcerer, and warband leader, Velok joined his grandfather's expedition to Valrar. The murder he committed there shocked his grandfather to the core and caused him to levy the Curse of Ultaht. Any settlement where Velok Brokentusk laid his head for more than a day or two would come under attack. He was exiled, not just from Whiphid society but from civilization: he was permanently incapable of finding refuge.

He remained in exile, a cursed vagabond telling fortunes for spare change, for almost thirty years.

Around 901 ABY, a random encounter changed the course of his miserable life. He had stowed away on the huge intergalactic expeditionary vessel Longjumper's Mark, seeking a good night's sleep. In the intergalactic void, there was no possibility of attack, so the curse could have no traction. But he found himself in company with another stowaway, a hardbitten Coruscanti street kid named Lily Rhodes, who didn't know what sort of ship she was on. Desperately lonely and moved by pity, Velok arranged to help her steal a shuttle and leave the Longjumper's Mark before it went too far. Velok wound up sacrificing his lightsaber to ensure she got away. He also wound up on the shuttle.

Neither of them was particularly easy to trust, but trust did develop, and Velok's first real friendship in decades. They'd left the Longjumper's Mark in the void, and needed to make their way step by step back toward safety. Their travels took them to Gadma Station, then to the old ORC colony Drakeport on the Firefist moon called Darronid, then to the Nagai colony world Jaibrek. Their time on Drakeport saw a major Tof attack; interpreting it as his curse in action, Velok almost died defending the settlement, and Lily almost died as well. For some years now, Velok had come to admit that he deserved his curse, and saw it as justice. As he healed after the battle at Drakeport, Velok became convinced that his friendship with Lily would get her killed. He had tried to drive her away more than once, but they had passed that point. For her safety, he reluctantly agreed to seek out a way to end his curse.

On Jaibrek, a colony and outland trade hub where the Nagai Trade Spine entered Firefist, Velok and Lily hoped to find a Force practitioner skilled enough. Velok sought help from a Sharuka Slaine, who weakened the curse at a terrible cost. Meanwhile, Lily procured the help of a group of Nagai telepaths. The resulting situation led to Velok finally disclosing the extent of his crimes; Lily discovering her Force sensitivity; Velok learning more about how his grandfather's curse had impacted those Velok had harmed; the release of a long-trapped soul; and the Nagai ending the curse entirely.

Now freed of his curse, though never his past, Velok set up a quiet homestead on Jaibrek. He began helping Lily explore her options as a Force-sensitive. He also found himself drawn into any number of situations where he had the power - and, to his perpetual surprise, the inclination - to do some good.
