- [+] The Best of the Best: The operators of UWU hail from some of the most rigorous and intensive military institutes from around the galaxy. All from different walks of life, many were former Rebel soldiers, some were Antarian Rangers, and even fewer are Jedi Shadows. Well disciplined, well trained, and well equipped. They're the highest echelon of soldiers that the Alliance has thus mustered.
- [+] The Light: Many operators have been on the receiving end of numerous Force-induced effects. Their resistance to mental abilities is far above that of a normal soldier or civilian. Accompanying Jedi Shadows possess unique powers capable of cleansing dark residue or even destroying dark artifacts of the Sith.
- [-] Minimal Manning: Due to high attrition rates from both the initial screening phase and high operations tempo, the operators of UWU will always be outnumbered.
- [-] Sustained Engagements: Prolonged combat for small units is devastating. UWU Operators are not regular infantrymen nor are they deployed in battalion-sized masses. Small teams of them are worn out after sustained campaigns or other operations.
Description:
The 1st Unconventional Warfare Unit is the brainchild of Commander Lok Jorunn of the Rebel Alliance. It bears homage to the old special warfare groups previous iterations of the Rebellion have supported and aims to top them in every category. Be it discipline, ferocity in battle, or simply the effects of their victories and campaigns, UWU will reign supreme.
UWU operators are the very best the Alliance has to offer. Jorunn and his advisors took the cream of the crop, discarded the chaff, and constructed a unit capable of besting the Sith and their Imperial allies the only way they knew how to: unconventionally. Operators come from all walks of life; be they human or not, be they poor or not, they are recruited from the ranks of regular rebel soldiers or picked up from other organizations like the Antarian Rangers. Trained in every possible facet of combat, many of the operators are tried and tested in the art of war.
The 1st Unconventional Warfare Unit completes several mission profiles under the Alliance High Command. They are as follows:
- Direct Action (DA): These are short-term operations where force of action and violence are the name of the game. These missions are aimed at destroying, seizing, or capturing enemy combatants or assets. Stealth and surprise are staple adjectives during debriefings, so the operators liberally make use of the element of surprise.
- Foreign Internal Defense (FID): UWU takes peacetime roles seriously. These missions typically consist of training local militias or police forces to combat the evils of the Empire, or how best to maintain their freedom and support the populace in the event of subjugation. Many operators have undergone cultural and linguistic training to better improve their relationship with the host government of whatever world they're on.
- Special Reconnaissance (SR): Alliance High Command always needs eyes on target. Prior to large engagements or operations, High Command typically dispatches UWU teams to gather intelligence on hostile personnel, assets, and movements to better prepare joint and coalition forces.
- Unconventional Warfare (UW): UW missions can last years. This specific mission profile is a prolific one in the 1st UWU. These mission sets are always undertaken deep behind enemy lines. Covertly building local militias, sabotaging communications and transportation lines, intelligence gathering, and personnel rescue are among some of the various tasks that are completed under this mission profile.
