Public Under the Sun [Corporate Gala - Invite Only]

Well there went the easy way of trying to mainline it so he could talk to Fio and see how Taeli was doing. From what he heard the battle at Mandalore had cost her far more than any would have expected. He shook his head, a motion many would have considered to be pretty normal for a drunk man collecting his thoughts. When Ariel addressed him he nodded a slight smile playing over his face.

"Ah, forgive me, I did not recognize you in your more formal regalia. It has been sometime since I have seen the insignia you wear. TIE series fighters you say? Interesting, I would be glad to review the specifications of them and give you my opinion."

He had seen the display booth before and gotten a cursory glance of the designs as he meandered around the area earlier, however now he took the time to review the specifications of the TIE line of products he was offering. The Slasher was certainly unique, but that did not make it useful. The Bruiser seemed much like any other heavy bomber, nothing was overly standing out to him about it other than the fact that it had a design that looked like a larger TIE Advanced with a few cues from others in the series.

"I do see some features that could be potentially nice on the Slasher, but I do not believe that it would have the power output necessary to make full use of such features. The most standout feature is the inclusion of two heavy turbolasers, located in between the collector arrays one either side. Such a weapons mount requires immense amounts of energy, so even if you ere able to fire them, you likely would not get the impact you wished for out of them. Maybe around the same as a heavy laser cannon in the best case. As well, you have a shielding unit and two rapid fire laser cannons feeding off the same power supply as the turbolasers and other systems. In my opinion the power distribution system would not be able to maintain all of these features at anything approaching optimal conditions, especially for a craft that is billed as a space superiority fighter.

As for the Bruiser that is shown here, it looks like a bloated TIE Advanced x1 with a few minor cues from other TIE products. It is billed as a heavy bomber but outside of the fact it has the looks of a TIE I see nothing that sets it apart from the rest of the herd. Heavy lasers and laser cannons are pretty standard for most any ship, a concussion bomb bay is certainly not groundbreaking on a bomber, and proton torpedo tubes are, yet again common weapons on many classes of ship. In addition it carries no countermeasures suite, though I would imagine its shields could manage to take more hits than the Slasher, it has very poor mobility making it a lumbering beast that without heavy escort or being called in to an area where there is minimal anti-aerial defensive systems is naught but an easy kill for any half trained nugget.

I see nothing that makes these units useful for your endeavors ma'am. Perhaps if there were serious reworks done, but at that point you'd be better off making your own ship to fill the roles that these are meant to."

The shift in tone from his stumbling interruption to his analysis of the craft presented may seem shocking to some of those gathered, but Ariel may not even make note of the shift as he was sure she had witnessed it before. Now it was just a matter of her telling him where to find Ryssa. He said nothing more to anyone at that point, simply watching and waiting to see the response to his words.

Moff Terrix took a moment to look around at the gala around him, taking in all the displays and the various sales-beings peddling their wares. He pondered to himself, quietly musing about just how many credits would change hands over the course of the evening. No doubt thousands, at the very least. Arador walked through the attendees, looking for someone to speak business with. Before that, though his eyes fell on fellow First Order Moff Ariel Yvarro , and made his way over to her, conversing with Gat Tambor Gat Tambor and Eocin Chiyat Eocin Chiyat , a man that Arador could not say he recognized.

Terrix had elected to wear an all-black business suit and shirt for the event, accented with black crosh-hide gloves and shoes, as well as a decently visible pin on his lapel indicating his allegiance to the First Order. He had approached the group in time to hear Kurayami Bloodborn Kurayami Bloodborn dissect the TIE fighters that Tambor was selling, and he was impressed to hear the man verbally tearing apart the vessels to the Skakoan's face. Terrix offered a quiet greeting to his compatriot, careful not to interrupt as he was interested in hearing Tambor's rebuttal, and took a cue from Ariel in ignoring Tony Bonaducci Tony Bonaducci standing next to her.

Gat Tambor stood with his focus directed between the potential buyers, his wide eyed beady Skakoan gaze dancing between the two before settling on Kurayami was he spoke. To his words he seemed to bare no tangible reaction beyond intent perception over the man's critiques, nodding a few times as he continued. Tambor didn't seem to take great offense from the man's criticism. Tambor was a man centered around perfecting his craft and the fruits of innovation -- to silence such voices would only regress in such an endeavor.

"WEERERERERORRRRE- You seem to know a great deal about such craft -- do say then what are the ideal starships that serve as counterparts to these vessels?" Tambor inquired. If thes TIE models were greatly flawed in the man's eyes then he sought to inspect a vehicle which was as close to ideal as possible and glean its traits of what make it so.

While the other First Order officer approached, Kurayami kept his gaze on the merchant. The wares were certainly a tempting offer on paper, until one took a careful look at everything they claimed to be able to do. Sure even if they could perform all the promised tasks, in the end they were not fit for their roles assigned to them. If Gat had a care for anything more than money he would likely have caught that fact much earlier. The Skakoan simply nodded at his critiques, harsh though they were there was no malice, simply facts being stated. The question posed brought a quirked eyebrow from the Corellian. Not even a subtle tactic.

"I see your game. An interesting tack to take with someone who is employed by a shipwright, exactly for what I just did. I will give you some advice this once however...if you build a ship and you cannot figure out how to defeat it then how can you call yourself a shipwright? For every pro there is a con, and if you cannot see them clearly in the design you made then you have little chance of success in the wider market. Not to mention you sully the reputation of TIE series craft with these cheap knockoffs."

The words were spoken in a tone almost completely devoid of emotion, but there were hints of amusement and an undertone of disappointment. When he was done speaking he looked over to Ariel and her companion and nodded to the new arrival.

Ariel bit on the inside of her lip and listened to the interaction between Mr. Bloodborn and the uh, Chairman as it were. "Well," she interjected and cleared her throat before she put together the necessary words. "Thank you so very much, for your wonderful insight Mr. Bloodborn." Her hands together as she turned away from the Skakoan and toward the open floor of the Gala. "I believe Ryssa is just that way," a gentle placement of her hand to his shoulder as she physically reoriented him in the direction of her sister.
Once she was sure that Mr. Bloodborn was on his way, she returned her attention to the Chairman, just as her colleague Arador Terrix Arador Terrix arrived. "Mr. Terrix, a pleasure to see you as always perhaps you and I can come over here and look at Mr. Trivohld's wares together, before our meeting with the IGBC."
"And as for the TIEs featured here by Technoid," Ariel simply replied to the Skakoan, "we'll call you if there is any interest in the vessels." A simple, we'll call you, don't call us as it were. She moved away from the booth that featured the holographic displays of the TIE Slasher and TIE Bruiser and instead went toward Mr. Trivohld's booth instead. Droid operated anything seemed to be more of an appeal at the moment for the First Order, as they currently lacked the manpower to truly push forward in the direction that they wanted.

Gat Tambor looked between the two as the man berrated his TIE designs. It was one thing to critique the design of a vehicle and another to speak with such venom that this man did that Tambor nigh felt pity for Bloodborn. It almost seemed as if TIE fighters had broken into his home and burglarized it to sow such a deep underlying grudge toward the craft. Gat Tambor himself had impeccable standards for technology but was always eager to offer constructive advice in the wake of insults. After all, he wouldn't even consider himself among the top tier of Galactic shipwrights but he was certainly capable- few would say otherwise. Aside from perhaps this man.

Though the buyer was already aligned for these models the Gala infront of the First Order was far more a means of garnering extra cash more than anything - or to simply see his technology more widely utilized. Though it was then he came to the realization that even if he secured a full use arms contract with the First Order, he'd still be certain to never see them used in any relevant military action. The First Order was after all a- matter of fact, he couldn't even recall if the First Order existed to begin with. Was he himself duped? Was this all a tax write off?

"Hmmmm- very well, the customer support lines will be waiting." Tambor stated flatly - seemingly apathetic in his interaction with the two.

With Dune in tow with Haper, the IGBC official wandered over to where the others seemed to have collected themselves - speaking to eachother with a growing tension that Maliphant could smell even from the distance. Or he was smelling the Methane exhaust off Gat’s suit; though that couldn’t be helped. His steps ceased as he entered the circle, and smiled to those gathered -
Mr. Tambor.”, Dorian offered with a friendly glance to his fellow Chairmen.
Who are your friends?”, the banker offered a glance between them.
He didn’t recognize any of them, but it was there was a likelyhood they might recognize him - a rising star from the immediate success of the IGBC. A small time celebrity from both the IGBC, and the monster of an armament company that Jaeger Solutions had become; Dorian Harper was no small face in the world of corporate business. His smile accented his knowledge of this, and his swirled the champagne in his glass.

It was interesting to see Mr. Bloodborn dissect Tambor's most recent creation in such a concise, unsympathetic manner - he shared the man's concerns about the fighter's role and its "heavy turbolasers", but he would not call it poorly designed either. Not that he felt any particular need to defend a competitor.

Smiling politely, he nodded to Yvarro and her compatriot before projecting a hologram from the palm of his synthetic hand.

"Certainly, though I believe good Mr. Harper is en route as we speak. You seem to possess more funding than manpower - perfect for my business model. I have a number of droids and clones in my catalogue, from the cheap and plentiful to the truly elite, the weapons to equip them, and an array of vehicles and starships featuring a high degree of automation. I would further recommend my Neurolinks..." The hologram shifted to a neural implant with access ports in the spine and back of the neck. "... perfect for optimising reaction times and getting more out of fewer men."

Shifting ever so subtly so as to acknowledge the arrival of the IGBC representatives even before they spoke up, his smile widened. "I have taken the liberty of compiling a list of relevant products as we've spoken, I can transmit it to you promptly, if you like?"

Truly, being more droid than man was a gift that kept on giving.

Caulder scoffed. Was this truly the life of a banker? Funding every little war machine they thought might pop up? Couldn’t they fund something nice for once? Like an irrigation project or something…

He was not about to vocalize that kind of complaint, instead scoffing lightly, as if insulted. “It would only serve us well if they are successful. And we have little to indicate that they will be.

Aside from this gala, obviously. But if hosting a party meant one was destined for a political greatness, the Confederacy of Independent Systems would have ruled the whole galaxy by now.

Caulder grimaced at the mention of the Eternal Empire. “Come now. You’ll spoil the mood if you talk about those scum.

At least the First Order’s fascism left room for art and culture. The morbid fantasy of the Eternal Empire was little more than a parade of jackboots across the face of every man, woman, and child – forever.

Suppose you’ve made your point. Have at it, then, Director.

Caulder Dune followed absent-mindedly for a few minutes, zoning out in his idle surveillance of the surrounding party. When he came to, he found he was in the presence of Gat Tambor, as well as an assortment of other bright industrialists.

Ah, Mr. Tambor. What a surprise,” he said, in a way that implied so very little actual surprise.

He wondered if Gat was going to cut another deal that earned him a slot on a kill list somewhere.

Principal Advisor, Arbitrage Capital

Pol departed the main expo floor and headed to the Avalonian Palace. While a number of beings had approached her looking to engage the services of her firm, the conversation usually dried up as soon as the qualifier of a minimum 50 million credit account was raised. Quality of client rather than quantity was paramount at Arbitrage.

A small gathering of industrialists formed nearby to examine the wares of Technoid Manufactorum. Bringing that account onto the Arbitrage Capital books would be a boon for whichever advisor was brave enough to do business with the infamous Gat Tambor. While Pol sought promotion and the accompanying raise, she wasn’t yet ready to deal with such a dangerous party.

With so much focus on Tambor, it was the perfect opportunity to approach potential new clients away from prying eyes.

Entering the hotel she spotted two potential clients by the buffet. Lady Raaf of Aurora Industries and the retired Lord Admiral Raaf of Primo Victorian Shipwright between them ran two of the most successful corporations in the known galaxy. Both companies would be large enough to have their own in-house accountants and financial planners to service their accounts, but the problem with in-house teams was that they only had one client. Having access to clients and markets spread across the galaxy ensured that Arbitrage was abreast of the latest financial products.

Summoning her courage, Pol approached and greeted the two women. “Lady Raaf, Lord Admiral Raaf, I trust you are well.” She bowed her head in reverence and used their formal titles as a mark of respect. Pol did her best to keep her head tails still, as some humans found them confronting, while projecting a practiced smile, also aware that humans found Nautolan eyes difficult to read.

“If you have a moment, I would be honoured to show you some of the services Arbitrage Capital has on offer. We find even that even when a company sells such leading edges products are yours, there is often room for improvement in the oft-forgotten realms of corporate finance structuring.”

"Sorry," Fio sheepishly apologized, "but at least you don't have to do any cooking here, and Gilarian Luau's are some of the best." The Avalonian Palace had elected to host the annual luau right alongside the Gala. "How do you like your drink?" She had made sure to get a lovely Gilarian Fruit Twist, non-alcoholic of course. Meanwhile, Fio held in her hand a glass of the Blue Gilarian cocktail. The sound of live music made the atmosphere all the more fun, friendly and invited attendees to dance. "Besides, for once, we're not in there trying to show off the newest projects."
They didn't have too, at this point in their lives their companies ran themselves. For Fiolette, her daughter ran the show which meant she had more time for her wife and younger children. Of which, they were spending time with their big sister Lucinyia on Genesia. She gingerly sipped her drink and savored the sweet Gilarian rum. "Besides, the evening hasn't set and as promised we'll have our time can't wait to show you the fireworks show the locals put on."
Gilaria had been a home away from home at one point for the former Lord Admiral. A place to rest her head and gather her thoughts after her time with the First Order had ended. A time that seemed so long ago, but in reality had only been a handful of years at best. Oh how time seemed to fly these days, Fiolette took another sip of her drink when she and her wife were approached by a Nautolan. Fiolette looked at her glass for a moment and inspected it, she wondered if there had been anything other than rum in it. "I'm terribly sorry," she began as she looked over at the woman who seemed nervous, "if that is your pitch, it's horrible."
It was a backhanded pitch at least in her opinion, although a few more go-arounds with rum and maybe it wouldn't sound so bad. Fio set her drink down on a number of the wandering trays, fand gave an exasperated sigh, "now that my drink has been ruined." She stood upright and looked over at her wife, "what do you think? How's your uh, corporate financing?" Honestly, this was the last thing that Fiolette wanted to talk about or deal with especially when she was trying to enjoy some time with her wife. Then again she supposed that the Corporate Gala extended its arms to the luau as well.

Terrix nodded to Ariel, and smiled. "Of course, Ms. Yvarro, I would be happy to." With his hands clasped behind his back, the Moff gave a respectful nod of his head to Tambor, then to Kurayami. "Thank you, Chairman, and thank you for the insight, Mr. Bloodborn, it was a pleasure." With that, he followed Ariel in browsing what Trivohld had to offer. The cybernetic businessman was correct in his assessment, in its current state the First Order needed to make the most of the men they had. The Neurolinks intrigued Terrix, but he wondered to himself about the drawbacks to such an implant. "That would be appreciated, Mr. Trivohld, thank you."

With that said, he turned his attention to Dorian and Dune as they approached, giving them both a respectful bow, but deferred to Ariel to speak first. Terrix was not one to step on toes, after all. He'd hardly want his first diplomatic outing in the new First Order to be mired with a faux pas right off the bat.
