OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: Create a versatile material to support a different armor concept with a purely aesthetic function, establishing a technological basis that justifies me using images of cute dresses or outfits as images for armor without compromising too much on function.
  • Permissions: N/A
  • Primary Source: Echani Shield Suit
PRODUCTION INFORMATION
PHYSICAL SPECIFICATIONS
  • Classification: Fabric
  • Weight: Weightless
  • Color: Transparent - Variable
    • When worn, Transparent Shield Weave is largely transparent, but it has an inconspicuous visual texture which appears as a lattice of interlocking hexagons on the skin which flare in response to a blow.
  • Resistances: NB - Resistances are for the unenergized material. When energized, Transparent Shield Weave takes on the resistances of the host suit.
    • Energy: Low
    • Kinetic: Low
    • Lightsabers: Low
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Transparent Shield Weave utilizes miniaturized energy shield projectors woven into a fabric, which are then connected to a power source and energized. This process turns Transparent Shield Weave into an armor-strong material, capable of turning away energy weapons’ fire and dampening kinetic force, depending on how the material is engineered.
    • Transparent Shield Weave integrated into one suit of armor might offer good protection against energy weapons at the expense of kinetic force. In another, it might be the opposite. As such, the resistances of the material depend on the engineering focus of the protective suit it is incorporated into and the degree of energization.
    • By itself (unenergized), Transparent Shield Weave offers only mediocre protection against energy weapons, lightsabers, and kinetic forces.
  • Transparent Shield Weave is generally used to cover exposed areas and joints in armor. In that regard, the material is moderately deceptive—it can fool opponents into thinking that a certain area has been left unprotected, when the opposite is the case.
    • To maximize its utility, Transparent Shield Weave is worn as a transparent skintight undersuit incorporated into a personal armor system.
    • Suits must be designed with Transparent Shield Weave incorporated from the ground up. It can not be used as an aftermarket modification.
STRENGTHS
  • Inconspicuous Protection - Transparent Shield Weave’s advantage lies in its inconspicuous protection. It can be used to cover exposed areas and joints in armor, often fooling opponents into thinking that a certain area has been left unprotected, when the opposite is the case.
WEAKNESSES
  • One Piece of a Play - Transparent Shield Weave has little utility on its own. The material must be energized, engineered, and linked to a host armor to retain any true protective value.
DESCRIPTION
Derived from the technologies used in ancient Echani Shield Suits, Transparent Shield Weave represents horizontal extension of the concept. In that regard, Transparent Shield Weave was developed to expand the protective capabilities of personal armor, allowing for more inconspicuous and graceful designs that still retain protective value. In order to achieve this, miniaturized energy shield projectors are woven into a latticework of thin, transparent fabric. This material is then tuned for specific strengths and connected to a power source in a personal protection system (typically an armor or combat dress), where it takes on the qualities of that system.

All in all, Transparent Shield Weave is hoped to become a mainstay material for First United Astral Engineering, enabling a new generation of more graceful personal protection attire designs.
