Xian only had any real memories of living on Coruscant. So walking through the woods and forest was new to her. Hearing the sounds of the night and seeing the various changes in the atmosphere was wonderful. She glanced around and liked the feeling of being next to Caelan. He guided them with confidence, and the silence between them was comfortable.
As the trees cleared above their heads and they started up the hill, Xian looked at the stars in the sky. Both of them looked up at the stars shining down on them. When he stopped, she moved one step further but stood next to him still.
Listening to him quietly, she glanced at the ground before returning her eyes to Caelan.
"People will always talk. Not everybody can ever be happy, and you can't please everyone, Caelan."

"I'm glad you invited me."
Drawing in an almost startled breath when his warm hand touched her cheek, she met his gaze but did not pull away. His look stole anything she might have wanted to say before she could speak. He was right, this did feel correct, and Xian didn't understand why or how.
Lifting her hand to touch his on her cheek, she leaned into the touch a little as if she'd never been touched before. In a way, she hadn't. Not like this anyway. Close and intimate.
