Description:

Date getting handsy? Took a wrong turn down a dark alley? Face to face with a spooky ne’er-do-wells? Give ‘em the shock of their life!

The Jolt Ring was designed to be a covert and unassuming personal electroshock stun device, aimed primarily at the average civilian who may run into a potential assailant. The ring’s sleek exterior is made from polished durasteel, generally considered to a be a unisex design and thus is available in both men’s and women’s sizes. A layer of insulation material lines the inside of the ring to prevent the wearer from being shocked by any overflow. A small powercell on the front of the ring is modeled to look similar to a green gemstone, flanked by two similar looking contact points. Once both contact points are squeezed into the power cell, an electrical charge is dispersed into an arc that can reach a maximum of 2.5m. The charge will continue to flow until the contact points are released, though it generally takes an average of 5 seconds before a target is incapacitated. The charge released is not strong enough to kill most sentients, but can stun many into unconsciousness. However, smaller beings and/or those with a higher vulnerability to electrical attacks could find the charge to be damaging, even fatal. Conversely, larger species such as the Wookie will not be affected as heavily as the average sentient.

The Jolt Ring has a short battery life and only has the capacity to produce three standard discharges. The amount of discharges can vary based on how long the individual released charges are. The average discharge is 5 seconds, and so the stun ring can release a charge for 15 seconds before it is in need of recharge. The Jolt Ring is intended to be a quick method of taking down common thugs or an unarmored adversary. While it can be used in combat, it has a short reach and is generally not suited for ranged fighting.
