Those Forgotten

Odik II

Aela let out a breath, the cold air turning hitching it into a fog almost immediately. A shake ran down her spine, her bright orange eyes shifting slightly as she peered down into the cavernous valley below them. Her lips were thin, half blue and cracked from the cold winds that had pushed against them near constantly since they had landed. Her hair had become a matter mess, tossed around and out of it's tight braid. She followed the length of the valley until she spotted the structure below, a singular spanning tower that seemed to reach out of the depths of the rock and into the sky.

"There it is." She signaled the others, her hand sweeping forward as she pointed towards the distant structure.

One of her companion ran up to her side, a young Jedi named Arn. He was a good man, good Jedi, if a bit zealous about their Order. He was a Chiss, a rare thing in the Old Jedi Order and even rarer in the New Jedi Order. Aela watched him for a moment, the young man pulling out a pair of macrobinoculars and studying the structure for but a moment.

"That's it."

She gave him a nod, then signaled for him to follow. The two Jedi immediately fell back, scratching at the rocks that had half hidden them and pulling into a secluded clearing within the rock. Several other Jedi waited there, all of them having accompanied her here to Odik. "We've found the Prison."

A few of them tensed.

"Remember, we don't know what's inside or whats to be expected, this place has been abandoned for a long time, since Palpatine's Empire." That was nearly eight hundred years ago, more in fact, but the facility as far as they knew had not been touched since then. It was a prison, or had been, put in place by the Empire to hold everything from political prisoners to Jedi. From the information Aela had gathered in the libraries and the Arceneau Cultural Archives it also likely contained something that the New Jedi Order would need in the coming months, or so she hoped. "We'll split up, there's only one way into the facility, but I want half of us to stay outside in case anything unexpected happens."

A few Jedi raised their hands, Aela counted off three then motioned for them to move out, the rest would follow her into the Prison.

For Jacen, this was a welcome reprieve from duty. The war down the western front of Alliance space had taken its toll on both sides. The First Order and Alliance both being dogged by resistance forces obviously being funded by the other side. What kind of place am I in, where attempting to break into a long abandoned prison of a Sith Lord feels like a break? he mused to himself. Their route kept them out of sight of the entrance, but the Marshall could now see the walkway that joined the angular tower to the cliffs.

"That really does look a long way down," he murmured as he placed each foot with exceptional care. It seemed as if the winding path they followed down might have been carved a long time ago. Now it was barely apparent in the craggy cliff-side. Jacen didn't consider himself to have a particular sense of vertigo, but he kept his eyes off the drop as he walked. Easy to lose focus and a sense of spatial awareness when your eyes got list in that depth.

"Scared of heights?" Aela whispered as they moved down the half broken path, her fingers pressing against the rocky wall beside her, gently curling into a half grip any that she found a proper place to hold on to. The cavernous valley below seemed to howl with wind, every few moments casting a gale up towards them and causing her clothing to be ruffled and nearly torn from it's place. She had tied her scarf around her neck, lifting it to just above her nose to protect her already cracked and broken lips. Her eyes were watering now as they got closer to the prison tower itself, the wind seemingly getting stronger as they neared the structure.

The prison itself had only one entrance.

The place was designed to of course keep inmates inside, as such it would make sense that there was only one way in. The craggy broken bridge that stretched over the valley and extended to the winding path seemed to be in worse shape than the path itself. There were large chunks of it missing, huge cracks within the stone. Aela was almost entirely sure that the thing should have collapsed long ago but was only staying together out of sheer luck.

That didn't bode well.

As they got closer Aela began to observe the tower, seeing that oddly enough the structure itself had stayed together better than anything else within the valley. The solid rock tower stood with minimal cracks and no chunks of it missing. She frowned slightly as they reached the end of the path, her eyes wandering down the length of the tower and to the beginning of the bridge they stood in front of.

[member="Aela Talith"]

"Not so much scared," Jacen replied. "Well, a touch. It's when you look down to try and find the base of that thing. Makes my eyes go out of focus and my head spin a bit."

Jacen came to a halt at the edge of the bridge. He could let Aela have that one. A touch of dizziness wasn't that embarrassing, he'd witnessed her go through much worse in the line of their work.

The stark difference between the tower itself and the bridge wasn't lost on Jacen. He furrowed his brows as he considered what lay before them. He listened with his other senses. Nothing obvious was forming ripples in the Force, but there was an undercurrent of danger tugging at his awareness.

"I can head over first and test it," he grunted, nodding towards the bridge. It held in these winds, so he figured his weight was unlikely to bring it down. Better he find out alone that up the stakes by putting everyone's weight on it at once, but Aela was in charge here. Military matters were squarely in his ballpark. Raiding tombs and dealing with monsters seemed to be a Talith thing.

[member="Jacen Voidstalker"]
She frowned for a moment, another gust of wind threatening to toss her off the craggy edge of cliff that she was hanging on to. The bridge would hold, she was pretty confident of that. As long as they didn't step onto any of the cracked or broken pieces they should be fine. For a moment she was tempted to take Jacen up on his offer, but that wasn't what a leader did. Sending him first would have been cowardly, or that's how Aela saw it anyway.

Her head shook. "I'll go first."

"Wouldn't want you to fall." She said it with a smirk, a small joke. Aela had started telling those lately, and she was almost entirely sure that everyone thought they were hilarious. "Hold on to this."

The young Marhsall pulled her pack form her bag and handed it to Arn. The young Chiss nodded and gripped the heavy fabric tightly, making sure that it didn't fly away in one of the powerful gusts of winds. Aeal took a deep breath, then swiftly moved past Jacen and towards the bridge. her steps were careful, nimble, gliding over the edges of the stone and avoiding any of the cracked segments of the bridge. She moved quickly, hyper aware that at any time a particularly powerful gust of wind could see her tossed into the abyss.

A minute later Aela stood on the other side of the bridge, the dark gates slightly indented into the wall of the tower. She took shelter in that small indent, reaching up and touching the comm-link in her ear so the others could hear her. "Follow my path and move quickly."

[member="Aela Talith"]

"Grace of a damn ballerina and she says follow her path," Jacen grumbled to himself. It was perhaps something of a habit. His training dampened the affect his emotions had on his bearing, so perhaps the grumbling was an outlet for his nerves. Certainly the most he'd spoken to himself was when the Wrath of the Dark Lord had been trying to kill him. Foolish Chevu. Jacen had hoped to get through to her someday and curb her short-sighted nature. Instead she gone gallivanting off with Coren.

Well now he'd inherited two more troublemakers to look after it seemed. He chuckled at the memory of Trix hanging from a vine on Dagobah.

"You all go ahead," Jacen stated, letting the rest go on, bet watching each pass him and start out carefully. Then it was his own turn.

His eyes remained plastered to the bridge itself, looking for the safe ground Aela had followed. He didn't glide effortlessly across the bridge as she had, instead he kept his centre low, feet planted wide.

As he neared the end the Force warned him of the impending danger. Rather than risk launching himself the rest of the distance he dropped onto all fours and anchored himself in place with the Force. The wind whipped across him, pulling his travelling jacket, trying to coax him from his perch and down to the depths below.

Jacen looked up to the others in their shelter and grinned. As the wind slowed he very tentatively came to his feet and crossed the remaining distance.

"Well...that was scary."

[member="Jacen Voidstalker"]
"Well you're gonna hate the rest of the day then." Aela said the words just as her lightsaber ignited.

The bright pink blade sparked into life, the young woman turning and slashing the searing plasma through the locks of the heavy metal doors behind her. There was a loud groaning, her palm came up and with a simple push of the force the doors folded open, almost crumbling in upon themselves as the rust and age pulled at them. A gust of wind pushed passed her, tossing her hair in her face and throwing her braid over her shoulder as a long hallway was revealed in front of them.

"Torches." She commanded. "We don't know what's waiting for us inside."

As far as they knew, nothing. Any organic security systems would have died out long ago, all of the automated ones would likely have been disabled when the prison was abandoned. Still, Aela knew well enough that one should expect the unexpected.

Especially when it came to Sith.

The Marshall did not shut off her lightsaber as she moved into the Hallway, making sure that she was the first to go inside. The other members of the strike team pulled out flashlights, several of them flicking to life and illuminating the path ahead of them. There was an inhuman howl that seemed to carry through the halls of the prison, the wind rushing through the building, or perhaps the ghosts of past prisoners crying out to those who would finally listen.

Neivon

Spirit of the Shadow Guard
[member="Aela Talith"]|[member="Jacen Voidstalker"]
Neivon has been tracking the Jedi throughout the entire planet. Six-eyes wanted the bounty hunter to scan the area with the macrobinoculars provided to him. They would allow a readout on temperature, age, and other science crap he didn't care about on the prison. His employer would be doing most of the readings. Neivon sighed, it was his first time encountering Jedi before, he was trained to use vibroswords, blades, electrostaffs, and even his pike. But even so, using them to find the prison was quite the risk. He could've entered after he left, but his Six-Eyes wanted him to continue following them. Damn the fool.

He couldn't wait too long for the Jedi to be in the prison. He would lose sight of them, but if he didn't wait long enough, they could possibly use their force powers to find him. He took a good look at them before hand. They surely looked like seasoned fighters. Minus what he believed to be a padawan. He was told not to engage them at all costs, he didn't take the advice lightly anyways. He was a Mandalorian-In-Honor before. Still, it annoyed him that he would need to take a careful stealthy approach. This wasn't like tracking and hunting beasts, this was different, these were Jedi.

"I guess it's time to follow," He muttered to himself. Whatever objective his employer wanted, this was certainly different than the head hunting of petty criminals and the many searches of artifacts. It was a shame he didn't do it for creds.

[member="Aela Talith"] [member="Neivon"]

"Ah, but I didn't specify that I wasn't having fun," Jacen retorted. If there was something waiting for them inside, that groan of tortured metal probably would have altered them. Not much of option with no other entrances to the tower.

With a click the flashlight on his forearm gradually came on. Left hand stabilised the blaster he held ahead of him. Perhaps it wasn't very Jedi-like of him. A simple blaster pistol set to stun, rather than the indiscriminate handcannon on his hip.

He kept quiet as he advanced, shifting his weight carefully to make as little noise as possible. Not to stay hidden - anything in these dark tunnels would see them coming from the lights - but so he could try and discern any movement above the howl of the wind. There were faint ripples of danger in the Force, but nothing obvious.

The halls were narrow, but they soon came to a staircase. It was crumbling in places and didn't look like it would provide assured footing. It was also wound tight so Jacen couldn't see far down or up.

He relayed that very information before asking: "Stay on this floor?"

[member="Jacen Voidstalker"] | [member="Neivon"]

She shook her head. The option would have been a nice one to take, but unfortunately they couldn't complete their mission if they were to take it. She wandered over to Jacen, still holding her lightsaber in her right hand and using it as a source of light. Her head bent over the edge of the steps, trying to peer down between the gaps of the stairs to see if they could find the bottom. A frown touched her lips, and she motioned to Arn who stood a few paces behind her.

"We need to find the storage room." Her off hand grasped the flashlight that the Chiss was carrying. "It would likely be at the very bottom of the tower, somewhere out of the way. They wouldn't want anyone escaping the facility to have easy access to their things."

It was logic in a way, though they didn't have any assurance that it was true.

Aela took the flashlight from Arn and held it over the gap of the stairs for a moment, letting it linger before her fingers uncurled. The small torch began to tumble down, freefalling several stories within just a few moments. The light spun several times, catching the edge of the staircase and bouncing around a few times before finally striking the bottom of the staircase several hundred meters down. The light of the torch could barely be seen from where they were, causing a slight frown to pull at her lips.

"I don't think we have enough rope." Was her only comment.

Neivon

Spirit of the Shadow Guard
The rocky wall between land and the prison looked too treacherous to handle. Neivon couldn't afford to make a single sound, but even now, he needed to get inside the prison and scan every inch of the place. He could hear the familiar beep of his holocom, enraged he turned it on.

"What are you doing?" He missed at Six-Eyes. "You'll blow my cover!"

"Cover? There's not even a scrub of plant life." The Nautolan interjected.

Neivon tried his best to keep his cool, "Whatever, so what are you doing calling me when I'm so close to the Jedi?"

His employer checked his holocomputer, whatever might've been going on on it, the look on Six-Eye's face certainly didn't bring any comforting feeling. "I have readings on the area, the sudden peak in sound waves certainly say something must be going on in there. I want you to continue with on with the mission. Remain vigilant of more than just the Jedi."

Something strange? "I don't know what you're talking about Six-Eyes, my hearing seems to be just find—"

"Because it's something ears aren't suppose to hear!" Six-Eyes scoffed. "Anyways, just continue with the mission. And remember the bionoculars come with night vision, we can't afford them seeing light from you."

His employer disconnected from the holocall before Neivon could question him even more. Damn him. The bounty hunter reluctantly moved on, crossing the path as he encountered a bridge. Just what he needed, another troubling path. He began to regret ever agreeing with these damned missions. He could've simply join the Bounty Hunter Guild at anytime couldn't he? Oh well. There's nothing he can do now to get out of this mess.

Jacen canted his head from side to side as the torch spiralled down. In his head he tried to compare the depth of the fall to the height of the tower as he'd observed from outside. It was surprisingly difficult to marry the two things together, but it seemed the staircase might get them all the way down. Perhaps not.

"Well, we can lash ourselves together and try the footing that's left on these stairs. Then again it seems pretty narrow. I might expect a bigger set somewhere else. Worth a look around before we take that risk?" he asked, looking towards Aela. Jacen was still trying to get over the fact that she had a bright pink lightsaber.

[member="Jacen Voidstalker"]

Aela considered for a moment, peering down the edge of the stairs then looking at the Jedi that were accompanying her. They were all fairly big unfortunately, with not a one of them standing below five foot eight. Aela herself standing at six. She frowned for a moment, considering all of their average weights and just how much strain they would put on the staircase. She wished that they had the forethought of bringing a jetpack or two, maybe a repulsorpack.

Unfortunately such was not the case.

"Alright." She relented. "Lets split into pairs of two and search for something that could help us get down, rope or something of the like. If anyone finds anything use your comm-link...try not to get lost."

That would be unfortunate. They didn't exactly have backup to call, and if one of the teams were to get lost they would have to spend time looking for them. The New Jedi Order didn't leave people behind, and while Aela didn't expect there to be anything inside of the prison she was acutely aware that places like these usually tended to have surprises. The good news was that they couldn't wander too far, with the stairs nearly out of commission and no lifts existing none of the groups could get very distant from the stairs.

"Arn, you're with me." She motioned for the Chiss then spun on her heel, heading to the right of the staircase.

Akio Diachi

For it was All but a Dream
The Blue Wanderer. The title fit him well, though it was not one that he readily chose for himself. Someone had given it to him. A prophet in a cave in Danthomir. The man was aged, weathered with the passing years like the mountian itself. Akio could still hear the words echo in his ears, You will be the Blue Wanderer until you find your past once more.

His past. It was a shifting sand in the Chiss' mind, a long lost thing that he had been hunting, looking and trying to find. It came in pieces, memories in the night. Flashbacks during the day. Bits here. Bits there. Along his path that the Force had set him on to learn and study from its ways he was gathering parts of himself from the past. He was the Blue Wanderer and so he would be.

Amid his pursuit in knowledge on how to best serve the Force he had heard of the Jedi. And now these New Jedi. Following the Force's lead like a leaf on the water's surface, Akio had stowed away on ship after ship to get to the New Jedi Order. For now he would learn from them. Then once more he would drift on. Knowledge gained. Knowledge given. Thus were the ways of the Force.

He listened to the orders given by [member="Aela Talith"] and nodded. The commlink-less Chiss moved away and began searching down one of the halls. He didn't have one of their strange light sticks, so instead he pulled out a glowing worm in a jar from amid his pack. This would work for now, he thought as he ventured down one of the halls. Cells on either side lined the hall, he looked in each of them, trying to find something that could assist. Cots, chairs, benches, broken tools, a few bodies. Nothing of consequence. Until he came to the last one on the end. He grabbed the chain and measured it on his person. It was a good 20 feet long. He thanked the Force before storing it on his person and making his way back to the stair case.

Neivon

What were they doing? Neivon checked his Macrobinoculars, the Jedi appeared to be scuffling around the tower. It wouldn't be smart going in ahead of them. They had strength in numbers; and whatever his employer warned him about, he didn't want to be cornered by whatever it was and these Jedi. He wasn't planning on going down just yet. But like the hunts during his time as a Mandalorian-In-Honor meant that he would need to be patient as possible. Day or night, it didn't matter, what worried him was the old feeling returning to him. The feeling the Hutts caused. Soon enough he would go on a rampage. But he couldn't do that, it would compromise the edge he had in stealth. There was only one way.

Neivon activated a hovercam where he was standing. Watching it fly inside. Whatever they were doing, it would be reported through to him. He needed to kill some animals. He just hoped this planet had measurable trophies. What was he saying? To kill was to kill, it wouldn't be like the hunts. He looked back up the thin mountain staircase. He needed to hurry. He couldn't afford waiting any longer.

[member="Akio Diachi "]| [member="Aela Talith"] | [member="Jacen Voidstalker"]

A single misstep down and he would tumble down the valley and down into the abyss bellow the tower. Standing at the top of a cliff overlooking the valley stood a figure clad in the armored robes of the sith lord Darth Erebos. The wind constantly gripping and tearing at his lower robes to pull them down towards the abyss before him as he stood defiantly with the howling winds onslaught against his back.
He had watched patiently and calmly as the jedi had made their way into the tower and the curious bounty hunter that seemed to be following after them but kept out of their sight. "So they have come here..." He said calmly, the deep distorted voice his mask exuded gripped and ripped away with the wind.

He had been looking for places that the reclamation services of the sith could look into to perhaps reclaim some lost knowledge of the sith. Now however Erebos had to smirk under his mask as one of the creatures he had brought with him to train himself against came up next to him. It was a sith spawn he had made but it was a shambling creature and as such he deemed it a failure. It's face was twisted into a closed facial plate with a skeletal jaw and no visible eyes as they saw just like their master did, with the force itself. It's limbs were thin as if malnourished but covered in chitin that would make it a little tougher than a baseline human, the very creature these beings were in the beginning. They were failed experiments to the Sith lord but now they had some use to him at last instead of used to be slaughterd in droves as he trained himself to fight multiple opponents.

A slight clicking snarl escaped from the beasts mouth as if it was asking it's master something but he knew the creature was feral, savage beyond repair and belief. It would perform the task it's master would set for it or die trying along with it's brothers and sisters that had been brought along. Behind Erebos was a large dropship that had landed on the precarious landing spot that was this flat cliff head. Around it moved the creatures sniffing and clicking into the air and at each other but left the pilot alone as per their masters orders. The creatures would number at around fifty to sixty but their numbers were in general their only strength as they were as weak as a malnourished human but just a little tougher with their chitinous skin. With a slight motion forwards of Erebos's hand the creatures all looked up and towards their master before it was motioned forwards and the creatures began to charge down the winding paths leading towards the tower, the command for search and destroy had been given and the jedi shone like beacons in the dark to these beasts.

Erebos had to feel a sense of amusement as he saw a few of the creatures take a misstep and tumble down the valley only to let out a pitiful screech as they fell into the abyss that the tower seemed to sprout up out of. With the last of the creatures having left him behind he made his way calmly down as he headed towards the tower. 'Let's see if these failures can be useful for something.' He thought to himself as he watched the creatures sprint either on all fours or very low to the ground, pushing themselves up with one hand every so often.

Neivon

Spirit of the Shadow Guard
Neivon saw the hordes of Sith Spawn out in the distance as he finished his climb back up the hill. His day was really turning into something. The blood lust was becoming more empowering. He needed to warn the Jedi, they still had their use for finding things in the prison for him. He reached for his communicator readying to relay a message to the Jedi as loud as possible. Instead he growled inhuman words, the same words as he viciously slaughtered all those scientists. Or as he was told by the Hutts while locked up. He didn't recognize the terms, they weren't gibberish. Little did Neivon knew he uttered the language of the Dashade.

His eyes glowed a bridge orange inside his helmet. He looked out at all the prey ready to be slaughter by his lightsaber pike. The hilt wasn't built to withstand lightsaber blows, but that didn't matter to Neivon, or whatever he was now. It will suffice for these creatures before him. All will be slaughtered by his hand. He pressed the button turning on his lightsaber as it glowed a bright red. Without a second thought, he rocketed off with his jet pack readying to slaughter as many beasts as possible to quench his thirst.

Jacen meandered away from the staircase with Sawyn. He was another human male, though a little younger than himself. Not the most inspiring Knight to grace the Order, but he had a good head on his shoulders.

With no particular interest in getting lost in this tower, Jacen pulled a small device from he belt and held it against the wall. There was a quiet whirring as it affixed itself to the masonry. It was a simple little device, with a power short ranged transmitter. Several in fact. It would act as a relay for their comms, whilst also being able to track distance and direction. There was no GNS system here, but as Jacen walked the route her followed was mapped out on a display screen on his forearm. Better than a ball of twine.

For a time the pair walked in silence. Nothing more than empty, dank rooms were found. Only when he found a long straight corridor that seemed to angle down did Jacen wonder if he might find something interesting.

A sudden tremor through the Force warned him to lean backwards. The metal dart hissed in front of his face and struck the opposite wall. He stood stock still for a moment, then his hand flicked on his comm.

"Found a trap. I imagine there might be more. Watch your..."

Jacen was kicked off the channel by an emergency broadcast. It was from one of the Jedi left outside. "You've all got company coming towards the entrance very quickly. Not sure what, some kind of pack animals dropped off by a shuttle. They reek of the dark side. We also got a message on an open channel. Unknown language."

Stretchign out with his senses, Jacen quickly confirmed this.

"Aela, form back up?" he asked.

Aela and Arn had gone to one of the small Guard chambers at the end of the hall. The room was nothing special, looking to be simply a small lounge or something of the sort. There was a table in the center of the room, a few desks that hugged the walls and some other more menial stuff that one would expect to see in such a place. The lockers that sat on the far wall were what really interested Aela, her eyes following where they went as she quickly crossed the room.

The distress call rang in her ear a few moments before she reached the lockers.

A frown immediately pulled at her lips, her head turning as she regarded Arn. A slight look of fear had spread across the padawans face, Aela raising a hand to calm the boy for a moment. Her foot landed finally, her body twisting. "Yeah, back to the stai-"

Anything she was about to say was suddenly cut off as a loud rocky crack rang out.

The floor beneath the Jedi Marshall immediately gave way, the rock cracking and breaking into a million pieces before suddenly shattering and falling out from beneath Aela's feet. The young woman let out half a screech, her hands grasping for the edges of the falling floor only to find that it was giving way with her. She went crashing into the below, her back spanning with pain as she hit the floor hard, then suddenly there was another crack. The rock gave way once again, breaking and shattering into larger chunks. A domino effect began, the floor above collapsing on the floor below causing the next to fall. It happened four times, Aela wrapping herself in a bubble of the force to keep herself alive through crash after crash.

Akio Diachi

For it was All but a Dream
The Chiss could feel and hear the chaos begin to erupt. Three was pandemonium. He could hear something about the darkside, enemies, and company coming. The Chiss furrowed his brows slightly. That was odd.

Akio's Armor shimmered slightly on the edges from the Force as he calmly followed the flow of humanity to the entrance. He pulled his hood over his face into place, it was more of a ritual than a need for defense, something he had gotten accustomed to in order to bring his mind further into the moment to be ready for whatever was coming next. As the sweet brush of the fresh air teased along the hem of his armor garments, he looked where the commotion was coming fro.

For the darkside does flow indeed strongly from them, the blue Wanderer thought as he watched the hoard began to descend upon them. Reaching behind him the Chiss drew his cortosis katana with a flick of his wrist. Its edge shined proudly in the daylight sun. I am a clansman, Akio recalled in his mind the chant from his days as an assassin. The blade and I are one. I am my weapon, my weapon is me. May I die with blade in hand, and honor in my name.
