Strengths:
Umbaran Genetics: Capable of viewing various light spectra, a natural gift for deceptive and manipulative traits, and the mind of a budding mentalist, the properties of his Umbaran heritage could provide Theryn with an innate affinity towards more covert affairs.
Valkyri Genetics: Naturally resilient to the cold of his homeworld, coupled with the taint of the Vinterbound, low temperatures barely affect him at all.
Twice Prince: Theryn is the Prince of two worlds, Midvinter where he was born, and Aurum the land of his Mother's ruling; as such his blood carries weight, his name titles, and his future responsibility. It also affords him a life of moderate safety and protection.
Street Performer: Too sickly to be a warrior, and disinterested in more scholarly pursuits, Theryn turned to more roguish and entertaining pastimes. The allure of magic, both infused by the Force and utilizing ancient sleight of hand techniques, as well as the thrill which accompanies the cheer of the crowd, led him toward spending many an evening out in the streets of his home, amusing his Father's people...
Glamour: Even since his retreat to Aurum, Theryn has indulged the more trickster side of his nature. He utilizes the Force to weave illusions around himself, playing pretend at being other people so as to freely walk the streets of Azar City without being recognized.
Weaknesses:
Vintertouched: While he was still in the womb, Theryn's mother was attacked by Vinterbound and bitten upon the shoulder. Treatment was swift, and Kära did not suffer, yet unbeknownst to her she was at the time pregnant, and the taint of Midvinter's scourge seeped into him. While he is not at any risk of becoming Vinterbound, his health has suffered as a result and he noted to be remarkably cold to the touch without his internal temperature lessening. It's almost as if the cold does not touch him at all. Whether this could lead to further complications or boons in the future is not yet certain
Hypersensitive Eyesight: Whilst the ability to see the ultraviolet scale and body heat is useful, the knock back effects can be crippling to say the least; When suddenly exposed to bright lights Theryn will become disorientated and dazed more so than your average humanoid, and can even be sent into a photosensitive-epileptic seizure
Stormborn: On the unfortunate night of his premature birth, Velkar, God of Mischief, set the skies alight with thunderclaps and lightning. Contrasting this, the newborn made no noise at all and both doctors and parents feared the worst. It seems as though a shadow befell him from the moment of his first breath, and even though he is young his demeanor is somber and serious, reflecting the eve of his birth.
Sickly: Ever since the moment of his early birth Theryn has been a sickly child. Frail, lacking the vigor of his brother, he is not cut out for more martial pursuits and utilizes his more lithe frame for more vicarious pursuits. He believes himself inferior in the eyes of his parents, a worthless excuse of a Valkyri, and as such a slightly more rebellious streak has begun to present itself, as well as a desire to prove himself in other ways. He's quite the purposeful fool, seeking to make others laugh, and keep them entertained, despite his own bitterness.
HISTORY
The discovery that the High King and Queen of Midvinter were expecting another child was unexpected. At the time Kära was recovering from a Vinterbound attack, and had suffered a dangerous bite from the undead fiend, when her healer informed the couple of the God's gift.
It was a difficult pregnancy from start to finish, with Kära spending most of the final trimester bedridden. The night that he came into the world was terrifying, the skies beyond the Keep were darkened, illuminated at irregular intervals by lightning bolts and thunderclaps that shook the very foundations of their home.
It was not supposed to be his time, he was many weeks early and his mother and father barely got to see him before he was taken into the healer's care. Thyrian had sent forth for a doctor from beyond Midvinter in hopes that their superior knowledge would keep their son alive, and remarkably he pulled through the first few nights. Kära was inconsolable, however, frustrated that she could not hold her son, and too weak herself to rise from her bed to see him.
With time and patience however Theryn was eventually relinquished back into his parents care. Uncomfortably quiet, and unnaturally cold to the touch, it took a while for mother and son to truly bond, but the moment that they did they became inseparable.
He was a sickly boy even after the doctor's care, so very different from his brother. Little Thrand adored the newest addition to their family, and was instructed by his Father to keep the little snowball safe and protected - as was his duty as the Eldest Brother.
Midvinter rejoiced to the news of another Prince, and all were eager to see him as they had Thrand upon his birth. Both were hailed gifts from the Gods, following the difficult years the world had seen prior to their emergence.
Things seemed to be going well in Theryn's life up until the point in time that his Father passed away, having sacrificed himself for the good people of Midvinter. Refusing to believe that he was gone, Theryn stole a ship and fled to the other side of the Galaxy, back to the world which called his Mother's name. It was easy to feign ignorance, easy to forget, with so much space between him and the rest of his family. He wasn't present for Thyrian's funeral, and he hasn't returned home to Midvinter since.
Instead, Theryn has been governing Aurum in Kära's stead. A difficult role to fill, to be sure, but one he took to surprisingly well...
