No. I personally believe the Republic has lost what it once was. It is a weaker institution that hardly lives up to the expectations I or anyone else should have for it. Personally, I would prefer it simply died and all that land it holds be set out to be taken by those who would rise. Out with the old and in with the new.

Its time we let that dog die and I do not with for us to hold any aid in keeping it in one piece.

I have moved my vote from unsure to no. I was unsure because from an OP perspective it didn't seem to matter much which I chose.

However, after learning that 2/3 of one faction (and let's face it, the Republic won't do it) this is definitely a deal breaker for me.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but [member="Siobhan Kerrigan"], [member="Cira"] and I helped conquer and found OP, and I'm not eager to lose 2/3s of it, especially since it would likely uncover Kaeshana, my character's home.

So I have swung decisively to no.

[member="Tegaea Alcori"] well looking at the old map... your world is right there on the edge of what would be given up... so close but reading that old merger thread I am reminded of some good reasons.

Now I miss Jay

I take it you mean this one. That's how the map would've looked like if OP had joined the Republic last December.

Well, as your Moross FO stand in here, I've already stated that I am open, happy, and willing for IC interaction.

Aside from that - I don't think OP would be the one losing the territory. Republic is really the one in hot water here no matter what outcome. It would be Pubs joining OP, Pubs losing territory, not the other way around. They don't seem to be balking at the prospect of territory loss as much as I thought they would, but the OP side of this discussion seems pretty much done with considering the votes.

If Pubs lose territory, I'd say yes, just because while I don't think Sarge would enjoy the idea... I'm resigned to the fact it's only a matter of time before something like this occurs.

If OP loses territory.... hahahahhhahahhahahhahhaahahaoefijewaf no

Well my ideas for the faction have always been have fun. We have that dominion and I know I have been lazy with it just everyone I partner up with stops replying and it feels strange to jerk around the planet doing things.

We have the ASA still around and there is plenty of story we could write with them for another invasion. They came at Naboo we could go at a planet now and really work on the goals of it. Have pvp but also use the world, use the history and what has happened to create an invasion that has story and structure while trying to make people happy.

There is relations with other groups, we could reach out to others to solidify those friendships. The mandalorians have went through a great deal. They have taken a good amount of hits to their people. We have been helping supply the large hospital and silver cross fleet the silver Jedi control. We should sit down and try to meditate s that meeting the Republic had with them the senator blew big time. The general disposition was "If you don't fight for us you're cowards, if you do then it is its own rewards to fight for the Republic." The senator messed up big, send some of our diplomats to try and mediate because as was pointed out. They offer the jedi just as much as the One Sith.

The One Sith are a threat to the Republic, not to us yet. We should be preparing for them while offering our help when we can. Not invade them yet but allies sure, build up ways to counter their adaptability. Look at each conflict they have done and you see after an invasion they develop new tech, new ships and ways to handle surprises.
  • Crab armor for sabers
  • Hand cannons for beskar
  • Darkblades for the Watts
  • Hydrastaffs for jedi armor
  • Sithspawn for lizards
  • Seekers for Bral
The One Sith have adopted a new mentality of adapt to survive and taken lessons from each of their invasions. They know where their strengths and weaknesses lay. So they play to their strengths and push things into their favor. Second Invasion of Empress Teta there were fighters, they had a protection bubble specialist come in and block those while using the others to feed energy to keep them strong. Invasion of Alderaan they had three objectives, so focus on one at a time with the massive horde of writers and take out each one. Then move on. The Invasion of Carida well they got stalled it wasn't a victory or a defeat. They were held back in space but had more then enough numbers to take it on the ground.

I would push for us to consolidate our resources, we don't need new ships but maybe upgrades for them. We don't need a great deal of new equipment but maybe see where and if we can improve upon it. Sarge's camo cloak possibly get an easier to use version for special ops as needing to go to him for training seems unfair. I believe he expressed it in another thread he usually only got requests for threads teaching how to use that. Make something more user friendly maybe, same with some of our weapons. Lets try and improve where we can.

What would you like to see the Protectorate do?

Help the Republic in its dying days as something of a Hospice... but let them die in the end. For once, I actually do believe that the weak must fall to make way for the strong.

I would like to see us invest in getting new recruits and training them for the inevitable invasions and skirmishes.
The new recruits need to be trained either in PVP tactics or in fleeting.

We also need to make sure that potential planets have codex submissions for forts and defences so they can’t be ignored, make sure the military is up to date with the new templates (I know this is being worked on).

Most of all, engage with the members, keep them active, push dominions harder and make sure people what makes us different from the Republic. We’re not ‘The Republic with a different hat’, we’re a separate entity.

What [member="Tegaea Alcori"] and [member="Aeron Kreelan"] said.

To motivate people and attract new members OP needs a clear corporate identity and a mission statement. The days where it was a PMC are long gone and returning to that would be a complete IC regression. Likewise it needs to differentiate itself from the Republic rather than give the impression that it's the Republic with a paint job, different titles and cooler batteships.

After all, there is already a Republic that goes on about how it fights for 'freedom, justice and democracy' (whether said Republic is not just the Jedi Order with a senate and a couple NFU soldiers tied to it is another question entirely). And OP and the Republic have been just as often friends as rivals. In the past the Protectorate defined itself as the 'benevolent dictatorship' that had a certain rule of law, but got things done, as evidenced in its at times brutal war to eradicate the Bando Gora menace, rather than being hampered by Senate debates and Jedi dogma. Of course, that was the propaganda line and thus it got internal issues of its own, but tension is fun if it's IC. After all, there is a certain amount of tension between the notion of fighting for 'freedom' while you're a dictatorship.

At the same time it needs to clarify its position to other nations. It's obviously allied with the Republic and at present at war with ASA and OS. But what are the state of relations with Fringe? Likewise it has not had any contact with Moross, its southern neighbour, beyond HK and Sio aiding them in the battle against Horde at the Silken Asteroids.

Likewise codex subs for planetary defences and stuff are a good idea. We've been doing plenty of rps setting up defences for Kaeshana. Sure, we're far from our final goal, but I imagine it's a bit harder to handwave armies and fleets as background noise if you've clearly defined that this or that planet is a fortress and has plenty of shiny turbolasers, hypervelocity guns etc.

I think it'd be interesting to see a betrayal of the Republic and a snatch and grab of it worlds to better feed and clothe and bolster the economy of the Protectorate.
