- The Armoured Curtain: The Valiant-Class is reinforced with four meter thick armour on top of the already reinforced structure of the Star Destroyer makes for a tough mother to crack.

- Flanked Weaponry: Other than some tertiary cannons and point defence weaponry, the Valiant-class provides very little in the way of weapons attached to its rear.
- Exposed Firepower: A great deal of the Valiant-Class' firepower is the heavy batteries located on the aft spine of the ship. These cannons provide a great deal of firepower, but are vulnerable to attacks by capable bombers or other vessels.
- Fighter Support: The Valiant-Class while large, carries very little in the way of fighters. As such with a squadron capacity of three fighters, the Valiant-Class does not hold much in the way of anti-fighter capability.
The Valiant-Class Star Destroyer is a mid-range vessel designated by naval doctrine to sit between the force of larger destroyers, while capably existing above your average cruiser. The term Star Destroyer, attributed to the Valiant-Class is a misnomer, more so referring to the vessels aesthetic and strategic role than any 'real' connection to the vessel class.
In order to ensure the Valiant-Class Star Destroyer can adequately perform the role it is designed was fitted with two major offensive features. The MK.IV Fire Control System, to allow for coordinated bombardments to overwhelm enemy defences and heavier turbolasers fitted with a large field of fire. Defensively, in order to back up this dogs bite, the Valiant-Class was constructed with a four meter thick armoured curtain around its fixtures to reinforce the hull, and the vessel was manufactured using carbon-nanofilament armour. This of course complimented by the typical accoutrements of point defence lasers, shields and anti-missile octets. The Valiant-Class also has been fitted with superior engine power meaning that while it cannot necessarily avoid obstacles or manoeuvre around them, it can however escape enemy fire.
But there is a great deal which is vulnerable to the vessel. It's mainline batteries are exposed to enemy fire. Fighter support provided by the vessel is extremely limited. The Valiant-Class also lacks weapons on its flank, meaning it cannot appropriately retaliate against hostiles should the vessel be flanked.
