  • Reception:
    The Sith Empire [x]
Reactions in the Sith Empire to the Treaty of Commenor were general prideful, the myriad of citizens viewing the Empire's victory as another notch in their government's long line of impressive and awe-inspiring accomplishments. There were a few groups who held some disdain for the Empire's antagonistic and bullying tactics in dealing with the Commenori, a group so distant from the rest of the Empire that they seemed very non-threatening. Despite such sentiments, the Empire formally played it up as a monumental triumph in securing the continuation of the Empire against its foreign enemies, both real and fabricated.

[*]Commenor [x]
  • The response to the treaty was far less jubilant by the native Commenori, many of whom openly decried the treaty as illegitimate and a direct affront to their sovereignty. There were a few who meagerly inclined their head and accepted Imperial overlordship, primarily to escape the worst punishments inflicted on dissidents by the oppressive Sith occupation. Some would even go as far as to eagerly enlist in the Imperial client state's military, enacting on their closeted pro-Imperialist ideologies to try and steer Commenor towards a new future in defiance of the pro-democratic & monarchist majority.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

When negotiations fail, only violence can follow.

The Sith Empire, attempting to exert their influence over systems on the cusp of the Sith-Imperial Mandate, threatened and intimidated the Commenor System Alliance with an oppressive territory-wide blockade that made a mockery of the System Alliance's sovereignty. When the System Alliance pushed back and attacked one link of the blockade chain, the entire hammer of the Empire came crashing down upon them.

Commenor was blockaded, sieged, and the city of Munto was obliterated in a single blow by the foul war machines of the Sith. In the face of such raw power the Queen of Commenor, [member="Lady Kay"] Arenais, capitulated while in Sith custody and was fully taken prisoner by the Sith Emperor. He forced her to sign a humiliating treaty, effectively signing away Commenor's sovereignty and legitimizing an indefinite Imperial occupation of her homeworld.

To enforce the stipulations of the treaty, Admiral Coroct Dathart was appointed the Military Prefect of the Imperial Commenori Client State.

Yet, not all hope was lost that day. Many Commenori rallied together to form an underground resistance movement, deadset on toppling the oppressive Imperial regime and either re-installing Queen Arenais as their leader or forging a new destiny, one of their own making.
