The Sting of a Scorpion

Oh, so he was meant to uncuff him now? Darlyn rummaged through his robes with a slight frown. How hadn't he grabbed they key from the guards? and they were so very far away now, oh it would be pointless to go running. Still, the Doctor and the Queen wanted him freed, so that they would get. Besides, considering his flair for theatrics this was a perfect opportunity. Darlyn calmly stepped forward, and plucked his yellow lightsaber from his belt. The weapon snapped to life, and with something of an amused grin Darlyn noted, "Do forgive my forgetfulness, I cannot seem to find the key today. And I would loathe to make you wait too long. Now then, you really don't want to move." Swiftly he cut each restraint, freeing the man to be moved as needed, and Darlyn kept plenty far from the Somatoll needles.

With that handled, he put the weapon away, and calmly walked back to his spot between [member="Myles Vylumnar"] and the door. Oh how happy he'd be if he ran, it'd give him something to do that afternoon. Something besides following [member="Lady Kay"] half the day and rotting away at his desk the other. At least a Minister would be able to do their job anywhere they felt like it. Darlyn was little more than a glorified guardsman. A glorified guardsman that could rip you apart with his mind, but a guardsmen non-the-less. The chance to chase the gunrunner down would be a welcome distraction.

[member="Victor Tesla"]

"Oh, I plan on being nothing but cooperative, miss."

And of course, he was telling the truth. At least mostly. It'd probably be a bad idea to try and escape. Clearly they wanted something out of him, and it wasn't money. Labor? Information? Myles didn't care, so long as he wasn't locked up for good. He'd do anything to maintain freedom, even if it meant kissing ass. So he would play nice for now. Then, the doctor gave him a threat. Well, he tried to make it seem like a friendly warning, but Myles could tell that he couldn't care less.

"Needles... I don't like those... I'll be good, Doc. Don't worry about it."

At last, his restraints were cut. He wanted to stretch out so bad, but he knew righteous, just people like these would somehow find it as a threat. Somehow. Instead, he kept his arms still and stretched out his wrists. Myles could tell they were cautious in case he was gonna run. Of course, running would probably be the stupidest thing he could do at this point. Maybe if he were... rescued? Anyway, maybe a bit of silver tongue would help him get just a little lee-way.

"Are the restraints really necessary? I mean, come on. You really think I'm gonna try and run in a place like this? I'm already injured as-is..."

I am a son of the Mountain.
Tesla watched as [member="Darlyn Excron"] brandished his lightsaber to cut the restraints that bound his patient. He simply stared at the display blankly, deciding not to comment on the grandiose method used to release the boy. A moment when Doctor Victor Tesla bit his tongue was rare indeed, and often short lived. Never the less he placed the bandage's adhesive patch to the boy's side before beginning to wrap it around his torso.

He knew he would need about three of the bandages but for now he just worked with what he had handy. Upon hearing the kid's plea he could not help but snort in response. "Most people who get shot are not in as good a mood as you, beside's your free enough now so stop whining."

After completing the first bandage Victor moved on to the second, this time wrapping it around his shoulders and lacing a few lines of the fabric underneath [member="Myles Vylumnar"] arms. He looked up to [member="Lady Kay"] with a curious arch of the brow. "If you plan to interrogate him I'm sure I could whip up a truth serum."

Well, at least she wasn't the only one that wasn't a fan of needles. [member="Darlyn Excron"] 's use of his saber to cut [member="Myles Vylumnar"] from his bindings was a bit much, but more than likely it was an intimidation tactic.

She listened to the exchanges between them and then turned her attention to [member="Victor Tesla"] as he mentioned a truth serum. "Really? You know how to make it? That would be most helpful, I think. It could save us from having to wait until he was well enough physically first. Thank you, Doctor. See to it straight away."

Kay looked over to Darlyn and Myles, now seeing the latter properly for the first time. "Take him down to one of our cells, preferably one with a bed. We have to keep our guest comfortable until he's fully healed afterall."

Oh geez, a truth serum...

That wasn't exactly what Myles had in mind, but at least it wasn't as bad as some of the other things he'd imagined. He didn't really worry much, so long as they wouldn't interrogate him about his personal life. [member="Lady Kay"] somewhat made eye contact with him for the first time. To her, Myles probably seemed surprisingly young. He almost had a baby face, which he kept clean-shaven from any man-fuzz.

"Think you can make that in pill-form, Doc?" he questioned as some security officers took hold of him.

Myles was taken away to one of their cells. It was a simple room- A bed, toilet, sink, and a small window. Across from him was another man, sleeping with his back turned. Some chatter from other prisoners flooded the room, though there weren't very many. Most prisoners were probably kept elsewhere. He sighed, staring at the ceiling from the prison bed.

Of course [member="Victor Tesla"] was more than likely joking about the truth serum. But [member="Myles Vylumnar"] didn't need to know that. As far as Kay knew, there was no such thing, otherwise it would have been used on her a number of times.

An hour or so after Myles was put in his cell, when boredom was starting to kick in, the man sharing his cell stopped snoring. Perhaps he had suddenly came to realize that he wasn't allone, or maybe he just had a bad dream. Whatever it was, he had woken up. The man rolled over, taking in the figure of Myles with his beady little eyes. He was in his late 40's with thinning hair, more than likely having spent most of his adult life in a cramped tiny office, so this cell wasn't too bad for him. At least he got to have room service.

"What did you do to end up in the luxury suite?"

Myles sighed. "Deal gone wrong. You?"

"Corporate fraud."

Myles took a better look at his cell-mate. He seemed rather old, at least compared to Myles, and actually kind of looked like the typical desk-jockey. 'Corporate fraud' could have meant a lot of scandalous things, but it would be rude to pry. Instead, Myles tried to keep to himself, making some small talk here and there. Slowly he grew impatient, awaiting what was to become of him. He assumed they'd interrogate him, but hopefully they were moral enough to not resort to torture. If they did, Myles prepared himself.

He still had no idea about the kind of people he was dealing with. Or rather, were dealing with him. Commenor wasn't a planet he typically spent his time on. The woman, [member="Lady Kay"], seemed to hold some sort of power around here, but Myles wouldn't really know. As far as he could tell, the other man [member="Darlyn Excron"] likely had some sort of authority over the planet's security. And it was obvious that [member="Victor Tesla"] was the lady's personal doctor, as it had been mentioned before.

The man smiled to himself. Better to be locked up with a gambler, rather than a murderer. At least it gave him some sort if safety net here.

The sound of footfalls get him to sit upright, his smile turning into a grin. "Ahh perfect. Supper time. Let's see what swill they are serving us with today." He nearly lept out of his bed, looking a little more eager for prison food as one might expect.

A slot in their door opened. One covered tray was pushed in, the man reaching for it and taking it quickly back to his bed. Another covered tray was held out for [member="Myles Vylumnar"] to take.

The man took in a big wiff of the air before lifting the lid, revealling nothing that resembled swill at all, but a hearty stew with what looked like the finest ingredients. A small loaf of bread, butter and container of blue milk was also provided. All utencils were plastic, but that wouldn't make the meal less enjoyable. "You see? The luxury suite. I swear that they are feeding us well for something. We have our uses for her. Or maybe....she's trying to fatten us up in order to eat us? Doesn't bother me though. No stress, no troubles, no work, just rest and good food. It's the best retirement one could ask for."

He dug right in, fully preparing himself to eat Myles' food if he didn't want it. No point in letting it go to waste.

Myles raised a brow when supper was mentioned. Come to think of it, he hadn't eaten in at least 14 hours. He was starving. Though he didn't care to rise from his bed. Instead, he watched the man nearly leap for his food. Once he opened the lid, a hearty meal was revealed. To his surprise, Myles was prompted to hop up to his feet and take the food that was left for him. He devoured it in minutes.

Maybe this really was the 'luxury suite'. The man talked about how [member="Lady Kay"] had her uses for them, or that she wanted to fatten us up and eat them. Neither option sounded very appealing. Whatever 'uses' there were for him, Myles could only hope for the best. He set his tray aside and stared out the cell. He wasn't too keen on 'retiring' here, but hopefully he'd find some way out.

"The name's Myles, by the way. Just Myles."

"Just Myles? Funny name. My name's Barty. Flashy name, isn't it? I'll bet that you can think of plenty of nicknames for that one, and believe me, I've heard them all."

A twinge of disappointment flickered on his face as [member="Myles Vylumnar"] chose to eat his meal. Too bad. It was delicious. Seconds would have been nice. Barty continued to eat his own, however and let out a big belch when he was finished. It echoed through the cell.

"That was good. So, Just Myles...What kind of deal fell apart so badly?"

"Sales. You know, sales... Don't know if it was a bust or what but they just came in on us outta nowhere. Someone must'a tipped 'em off, or something..."

Myles finished his platter and set it aside. Surprisingly, it was actually a fairly decent meal. It was still prison food, but it was good prison food. Myles found his stomach content and he went to lean against the wall to watch outside of the cell. He kept his eyes straight down the hallway, anticipating for someone to finally swoop by and deal with him already. Even if this was the 'luxury suite', it still was just a box restraining his freedom. It was uncomfortable, but at least Barty was there to make conversation in the meantime.

"You mentioned we have... uses. What d'you mean by that?"

[member="Lady Kay"]

Sales. Sure. He knew what kinds of sales they would have to be in order to get one arrested and put in here. [member="Myles Vylumnar"] was still very discreet in his answers. He was playing it smart. The kid had experienced much in his short life.

Barty began running his finger along the bowl and then licked off the little bits of supper that he could manage to gather on it, much like a kid would lap up a baking dish. "Oh, the usual...hard labour, experimentation-now that's the worst. I hear that people never come back from that.."

The sound of a door opening down the hall was heard, followed by footsteps. Two guards led the way, followed by Kay. Barty looked to Myles. "Well, I guess we'll find out..." The cell door was soon opened. One guard strolled in and grabbed Barty by the arm, practically dragging him out. The other stayed behind, hand on his blaster while Kay moved in around him and stopped a few paces in front of Myles. She stared at him with an expression that wasn't very readable, remaining silent for a few moments. "So....How're you healing?"
