PRODUCTION INFORMATION
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Holds the Sith Emperor’s intellect and spiritual essence within, ensuring that he will not enter the Netherworld of the Force upon death but instead will reconstitute within the phylactery.
  • Indestructible through normal means, the metal used in the phylactery’s construction is treated with Sith Alchemy.
STRENGTHS
  • Indestructible Through Normal Means: Created through the dark science of Sith Alchemy, the Emperor’s Phylactery cannot be damaged or destroyed through ordinary methods. Lightsabers will not cut it, blasters will not even scorch it. It cannot be crushed, dented, or harmed in any normal manner.
  • The Power Of Immortality: By binding his spiritual consciousness to the Phylactery, the Sith Emperor can reconstitute his being should his currently inhabited physical form perish. His consciousness will completely bypass the Netherworld of the Force and will reform within the Phylactery to be transferred into a new body by his servants.
WEAKNESSES
  • Force Light: Though the Emperor’s Alchemy has made his Phylactery virtually indestructible to the power of modern technology, it does not spare it from the power of the Light. This does not mean that a simple application of Force Light will destroy it outright, but a ritual conducted by multiple Jedi Masters (or Light-side Force users of equivalent or greater skill) will eventually destroy it after consistent and prolonged exposure to the power.
  • Mutually Assured Destruction: Though the Sith Emperor can reconstitute his spiritual form and functionally remain immortal through his phylactery, it is also a double-edged sword. Should the phylactery be destroyed, then the Emperor will have nothing to keep his spirit from being thrown into the deepest reaches of the Netherworld until a new one is constructed. Worse still, if the phylactery is destroyed while the Emperor’s spirit inhabits it after his physical body is destroyed, then the Emperor’s spirit will be destroyed in its entirety; permanently eradicated.
DESCRIPTION

When the Sith Emperor faced his first death at the hands of Kiskla Grayson in 844 ABY, his spirit was deposited in the tumultuous Netherworld realm of Chaos to be doomed to an eternity of torment before his consciousness faded into the Cosmic Force. Fortuitously, this death coincided with the galaxy-wide Akala Crisis, and the Emperor eventually discovered the wounds in the Force where the Netherworld bled out into reality. Through his own strength and will he thrust his spiritual consciousness out into reality, sacrificing portions of his humanity to achieve an incorporeal existence as a disembodied spirit. For weeks his weakened spirit traveled through the galactic gulf of space before being discovered by his followers, who had constructed a crude golem to implant his spirit inside of according to the instructions the Emperor had transmitted to them through the Force.
This golem was ill-equipped to contain the energies of the Emperor and began to rapidly decay as a result. Knowing that such an existence was just as cruel as that in Chaos, the Emperor worked to construct a relic that could hold his spiritual essence in the event of his demise. He called it a phylactery, and into it, he poured his intellect and spiritual power. From it he could reconstitute himself should his physical form ever perish, completely bypassing the Netherworld of the Force. To test its power, he faced Gabriel Sionoma on the ruined world of Dromund Kaas and allowed the Jedi Master to strike him down. As predicted, the Emperor’s spirit rematerialized within the phylactery. Emboldened, the Emperor oversaw the construction of a new physical host for his spiritual incorporealness, and during the Battle of Lujo, he reconstituted himself in a cave suffused with the Dark Side of the Force. Revived in his entirety, the Emperor battled and defeated Gabriel Sionoma shortly after being reborn.
He wounded Gabriel and left him for dead on Lujo, taking his phylactery with him to ensure that he would remain immortal. His phylactery now rests within a hidden chamber on the Worldcraft Malsheem, only accessible to the Emperor, his Shadow Hand, and his most trusted servants.
