Public The Shadow Over Bespin [Open]

Carnifex did not pursue the Jedi, his stance straightening as he glowered at the younger man with glowing hellish eyes. He could sense the subtle fluctuations in the Force, the shimmer of invoked power that was almost imperceivable.
That shimmer blossomed into a brilliant shine, almost blinding.
The Lich-Lord's head pivoted to side-eye the figure which lept from the nearby building, the man's weapon training on Carnifex as his finger squeezed the trigger. His lightsaber was useless against the energized fléchette which screamed towards him. Instead, he reached out with the Dark Side of the Force and erected an energy barrier to impede their path. He had performed this maneuver many times before against enemies wielding slugthrowers or any other kind of projectile, and with it, he could absorb the kinetic energy propelling the projectiles and stop them dead in their tracks.
Carnifex was forced to expand the shield as the liquid red-hot metal was thrown his way as well, allowing the material to coat the outer shell of the scintillating shield which he erected around himself. Then, using the Force, Carnifex collected both the fléchettes and the molten metal and drew them into a tight compact ball levitating several inches above his now outstretched left hand. Manipulating it with the Force, he pushed the ball a foot out in front of him before he pointed at it with his left index finger.
Runes materialized across the sphere's surface, burning bright and red. Smoke trailed away from the sphere once the runes burned themselves into existence. Once that had been done, the sphere now radiated with dark energy and seemed to move with a consciousness of its own.
"Kill the spares," commanded Carnifex, and the sphere suddenly launched towards Veino with enough velocity to punch through conventional armor. Even if it missed, the sphere would double back with single-minded obsessiveness to kill those nearby, including the ones who now beset Irina.
Carnifex's attention swapped back to the Jedi he had initially attacked, lightsaber now angling towards the youth with malicious intent.
And again the towering Sith Lord rushed forward to attack, the Dark Side flowing from and through him as he unleashed a cavalcade of slashes and jabs aimed to eviscerate the Jedi into many little pieces.

Even distracted and in pain, Irina Volkov could throw a mean Force push. The impact blasted Jerec off his big flat feet and sent him sprawling against the dead-tombstone barricade. Being an Ithorian came with certain physical benefits. For example, while skidding on one's back, a human would meet an obstruction skull-first. Jerec came to a halt as his hard-shelled neck-hump clacked against the broken stone.

He picked himself up just as Ceri Ceri leveled Jerec's multispectral radcannon at Irina and pulled the trigger. As the barely-visible beam of hard radiation lashed out at the Sith Lord, Jerec yelped out both sides of his neck and threw himself to the ground again. He didn't retain enough presence of mind to muster a serious attack.

He did, however, spray a few more blaster bolts in Irina's direction on general principle. The blaster pistol was running low. He still had his lightsaber, but after a long career with zero Force anything, he trusted the blaster more and would be sad to see it depleted.

OOC/ Noting Darth Carnifex Darth Carnifex 's metal-ball attack, but as it gets to Veino Garn Veino Garn first, I'll save that for my next post in case Veino neutralizes it.

Cyran looked up as he zipped into a main street in the city. Dark clouds had rolled into the sky quite suddenly. It was then that the painfully average bounty hunter realized that the was a little too in over his head. 'Changing the weather, now that's powerful.' He thought to himself. Seeing the overlook not too far away now Cyran pointed his speeder bike to it and pulled back on the throttle. The howl of his vehicle echoing in the city.

However, as he did crimson lightning flickered ans shot down from the sky above the floating city. He watched in awe as bolts of the red energy shot down. Above and ahead of Cyran a tall building was struck with the lightning. Breaking off a sizable chunk as it fell onto the street in front of him.
"AH!" He yelled out as debris fell in his path he tried t stop but his bike was going to fast. With not other option he jumped off his speeder bike, using his jetpack to break his fall before he collapsed and rolled onto the street hard. His speeder bike swerved and crashed into the wreckage breaking.

Getting up Cyran made a pained sigh of disappointment. Feeling that whoever was responsible owed him a new bike. It was just then though that he heard the strange yet now familiar droning. His probe droid that was above notified Cyran of incoming movement, which he knew to be those weird monsters he saw before. Looking around some he tried to think of a way off the street. He wasn't sure if the monsters could climb, but verticality couldn't hurt right?

As he figured, the wave of liquid metal did not do much more than slow Carnifex down for a moment. But what happened next, the display of Sorcery did catch his interest for the briefest of moments. Either the sphere of spiked metal was being consciously controlled by Carnifex. Or the spell used simply invested it with a good portion of power to allow it to act of its own volition.

Both possibilities now meant that the Sith'ari candidate was either slightly more drained than a moment before, or they were distracted in guiding their newest weapons. Both possibilities were to the Jedi's advantage. Taking the brief moment lull of battle he had to centre himself. Aaran inhaled sharply, drawing in oxygen to refresh his strained muscles. To keep his heart beating steadily. Stance flowing into the opening form of Soresu as his body and mind shifted into focusing entirely on one objective.

Survive.

He would be the first to say he was a skilled duellist. His form was exceptional. His body was horned into an impressive specimen of human physicality. His own proficiency with the Force and the intense training from his Grandmother had elevated his body to the point where performing blatantly superhuman feats of athleticism was a simple enough affair for him.

All of that was barely enough to keep him alive.

Carnifex was a storm of fury and hate. And Aaran was a reed, desperately bending and swaying in an attempt to not be torn from the earth and throw away by the ferocious winds around him. Even his skill was not enough. The young Jedi's strength was still not at the level where he could consider himself a match for the Lich Lord. Carnifex's raw strength, superior reach and vast well of experience with lightsaber combat far outstripped his own.

If not for his Talisman. He would be dead. The occasional slash that did manage to penetrate his guard struck through, what should have been a mortal blow however was thankfully simply a nasty welt on the younger man's body. Burning clear through his robes but leaving his skin relatively unharmed. Painful, and holding the danger of getting infected if left unattended.

But he was not simply giving up. Instead, his Sword lashed out. Attempting to catch Carnifex's blade for the briefest of moments. He had no idea how well Venio was doing with the sphere. But he simply had faith that the Jensaarai could attack the Lich Lord while he was occupied with the Jedi.

That had gotten the attention he was looking for, alright. Carnifex turned and caught the flechettes on a Force barrier, exactly as Veino would have done, but it gave the others there a few moments. He counted at least three trying to fight off the two Sith, although he sensed others in the area.

What he would not have done, however, was turn it into a rune-infused murder-ball that hurtled back at him. He had to appreciate the irony. His armor was not protective against his own weapon. That would explain why the Mandalorians he'd known had switched to weaponry that couldn't be deflected back at them.

His lightsaber snapped to life in his other hand, as the handcannon was magnetized back to his belt and Veino stretched out with one hand, pulling the sphere towards him. Not as a single object, but the dozens of metal fragments that had been pressed together with the Force. These, he reached out and grabbed, diving beneath the runes and the Dark Side that suffused the sphere and sent a burst of Force energy outwards, to shatter the sphere from the inside.

And as that happened, he stepped forward into it with his lightsaber humming as sent the blade inwards to cut through the metal and shattered it at the core.

As metal hit the floor, Veino kept moving, sliding his feet forward one after the other as he held his lightsaber above his head. The Sith was hammering away at a Jedi who was trying to put Soresu to good use. Veino assessed it for a moment. Form was decent, but if blade skills could have defeated Carnifex, that would have happened years ago.

It needed something else. Something he had yet to figure out. Information on how he had come back from the dead. Veino had gone all the way to Korriban for that information. And regrettably, Carnifex didn't seem like one of the Sith who enjoyed monologuing.

Cursed Sith, making him actually work. If he had been in a military, they would have had him retire by now. He assessed the situation.

He circled around the duel, watching everything. "I have to say, Kaine," Veino called out through his helmet. "I do admire your tenacity in coming back from the dead. Having done it a few times myself, I've always wondered how you came back so tall. Spine stretches? Surgery? The Dark Side need a bigger body to fit your ego?"
