STRENGTHS
  • Energy Resistance + Lightsaber Resistance: The suit is designed, above everything but stealth and mobility, to protect against lightsabers and blasters. While a dedicated Soresu master himself, he knows how easy it is to find himself surrounded and overwhelmed by more opponents than even he can fend off with a blade. As a result, he has taken the traditional Jensaarai art of imbuing armor and utilizing cortosis weave in their armor and refined it into two thin layers of cloth woven together- armorweave underlay, and then the shell-spider silk dyed in Norris root and interwoven with cortosis fibers. They are designed to do one thing and one thing only- stop blaster bolts and lightsabers from getting through.
  • Jensaarai Armor Imbuement: A closely guarded secret of the order Veino leads, they perform a long, ritual ceremony during which the Force guides them into shaping their armor in a sort of trance, a Jensaarai is closely connected to their armor, having almost a symbiotic relationship with it, as its presence in the Force echoes with their own and hones their capacity for control and power. As a very experienced Jensaarai, making multiple imbued suits, training others in the technique, and designing others, this is the pinnacle of what has so far been achieved. His Force presence and that of his armor are closely intertwined, allowing him to affect both simultaneously.
  • Tactical Helmet: The helmet is pulled from his experience training members of the Underground and working alongside various Special Forces detachments. It includes all the electronics and rebreather apparatus of a standard fully enclosed combat helmet, aiding Force senses in detecting and seeing through subpar conditions.
  • Climbing: The frictiongrip has been added to the joints to make climbing easier and more accessible as a tactical option, after an awkward moment when operating alongside the Silver Jedi and OPA Judges where he realized he had FrictionGrip added to the Huntsmen armor, but forgot it on his own.
WEAKNESSES
  • The Force is My Ally: Kinetic, sonic, hard-sound, EMP/Ion, and other specialty weapons have been neglected in the design as a necessary sacrifice to maintain his mobility and infiltration capabilities, rejecting the heavy duraplast combat armor of his earlier career. As a result, the armor offers no protection to even things like basic slugthrowers, let alone the more common exotic weapons that have proliferated in an era of Force-centric warfare.
  • Go for the Head: Unlike the rest of the suit, the helmet is the weakest point. It is made of thin duraplast, imbued, but lacking the additional protection of cortosis or Norris-root. The hood brings those to the helmet, but it is not permanently affixed to the helmet.
  • Ion/EMP: The helmet has no extra protection against EMP or Ion weaponry, making it vulnerable to such devices, and disabling the various forms of vision, which would require a full reboot and wiring repair. Until then, Veino will have to remove the helmet to see and function as normal, although the rebreather will still function. Also, Force Lightning will wreak havoc.
  • Magic Clothes: Unlike a dedicated suit of combat armor, this suit is designed to be worn at nearly all times, in a wide variety of environments in which he isn't able to look like he's wearing armor. In that, these are essentially highly resilient, protective clothes. They offer no extra protection again blunt force trauma, except for the helmet, fire, vacuum, acid, or other environmental hazards. Frankly, a well-handled vibroknife or beskad could get through this.
DESCRIPTION
The galaxy never stops evolving or changing. For nearly thirty years, Veino has been fighting on the front lines (and behind enemy lines) against Sith, Imperials, and other would-be tyrants in the name of the Light and the name of liberty. From the Army of Light to today's Underground, he has found himself on a wide variety of battlefields in all sorts of situations. Over those decades, he has been working on honing his technique of Jensaarai armor-crafting, having already constructed two suits of the customary armor, one upon his promotion to Defender, and the other for his ascension to Saarai-Kaar of the Jensaarai. This is his third, and ideally, final armor was meant to bring it up to date and upgrade the capabilities of his previous armor.

Seeing his role now as less of a frontline combatant bolstering non-Force units, he has focused on precision infiltration strikes against high-value targets. Most likely, enemy command posts and high-ranking SIth. As such, he went into this design process with that in mind. It was meant to let him infiltrate enemy positions without hindering movement or capacity, and then engage lightsaber-wielding enemies comfortably and with more protection. Veino is the most skilled living Jensaarai, but by being more neutrally aligned, he lacks the more powerful techniques of the Light that can best contest Dark Side sorcery and magic. Instead, he has to use fundamentals and basics to counter those, which requires more concentration and effort. The armor is meant to protect him against blaster fire and lightsaber blades while he focuses on utilizing the Force. The only exception is the helmet. After having his face clawed open by a Zygerrian in his first battle, he has been a firm believer in always wearing a closed helmet. It is made from a single cube of duraplast, carved and molded specifically to fit his face, with the wiring, circuitry, and lenses embedded in the process. Not much thicker than the circuitry, it provides only light protection against weapons but does protect against blades, claws, and other sharp objects, including metal piping corners, which he has had the misfortune of banging his head against on multiple occasions during missions.

At the core, however, the suit is a hooded two-layer jumpsuit. The base layer is standard armorweave to help maintain the garment's form and structure, as well as light additional padding to take out some of the sting and heat when taking hits. The primary aspect of the garment is the outer layer. It took dozens of attempts to find the right formula, weave pattern, and strand ratio to find the right balance to achieve what he needed, but after several months of experimentations and testing, he did. Inspired by traditional Susefvi textile traditions that wove windproof and waterproof garments for fisherman, he was able to spin a fabric out of cortosis fibers and shell-spider silk that was uniform in appearance and coloration. This, however, was only the first phase of the process. With the fabric sorted out, he set out strengthening it and increasing its energy resistance through the careful application of Norris Root dye, which he had previously used. The technique was difficult and time-consuming, but after dozens of trials, he was able to successfully dye the blended cortosis-silk fabric.

Up until this point, any lab or engineering company could replicate and reproduce the process for much the same effect. However, the Jensaarai have their own closely-guarded ritual and process for crafting armor, much akin to the Jedi lightsaber construction ceremony. It is not simply making a garment, it is crafting a closely attuned work of art whose full potential and strength could only be wielded by its maker. In heavier armors, the process is actually easier, as the armor often involves molding and shaping hard materials, like duraplast. It could be done in chunks. With this armor, however, Veino had to weave it all in one go, remaining deep in a Force-guided trance without food, water, or sleep, for the entire process, after spending hundreds of hours learning and perfecting the craft of loom-weaving by hand, on top of his other duties.

But once that was ready, he began the process in earnest. He spent a day and a night meditating by the sacred pool at the heart of the Jensaarai Enclave, sinking deep into a meditative trance through breathing practices, alchaka, and burning specific herbs. Enmeshed in this trance, he let the Force guide him, coupled with his own carefully planned design as he first wove the outer layer together, forming its loose shape and structure, and then stitched on the inner layer. During the process, the Force flowed through his entire being into the work of his hands, imbuing it with more durability and damage resistance, synergizing the effects of the various fibers into a unified whole, made stronger than the sum of its parts. It took him five days of uninterrupted work, without eating, and only drinking handfuls of water from the pool before the garment was finished. With that done, he was able to quickly create and wire the helmet using tools from the Jensaarai workshop, followed by the addition of Friction Grip to the boots, knees, elbows, and hands. All in all, starting from his experiments, it took him nearly a year and a half to construct this armor

The end result was a lightweight, hooded garment capable of providing a great deal of protection against lightsabers and blasters, and a helmet to help in combat scenarios. With just those, an old hand-cannon, and his lightsaber, he was ready for what was beginning to shape up into the next Great Galactic War.

This time, it wouldn't catch him unprepared.
