SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Radiation emitter (gamma, X-ray, and high UV)
STRENGTHS
  • The radiation beam travels at the speed of light.
  • While standard ray/deflector shields blunt the majority of the radiation beam, at least part of it impacts, and can often burn through, the average ship's utility radiation shields instead.
  • The radiation keeps going and going, just not as a coherent multispectral beam.
  • In addition to physical damage, the radiation beam causes mild to moderate systems interference, comparable to an ion cannon.
  • The radiation beam is devastating to biomass. Just a really good way to give a bioship cancer.
WEAKNESSES
  • Molecular shields absolutely neuter these weapons.
  • Lightsabers can block the handheld versions of these weapons if used very carefully.
  • Like all multispectral emitters, this weapon burns out quickly. The component which burns out has been put in a cartridge form, and must be replaced/reloaded after 6-8 shots.
  • Nobody is going to thank you for spraying hard radiation into space.
DESCRIPTION
Multispectral emitters are an old and rarely used technology. They put out a nasty, armor-piercing beam that draws from several points on the EM spectrum, but key components burn out quickly. Gallofree Transports explored this route due to demand from Wild Space clients who had limited access to the special gas (e.g. tibanna) used in turbolasers; multispectral emitters have different component requirements.

Most Multispectral Radcannon lines are equivalent to laser cannons or turbolasers. The technology is also available in handheld form, comparable to a blaster.
