Geneviève Lasedri
Fascists hate her!
What is the Rebel Alliance? It is the most Star Wars of Star Wars. The penultimate representation of the lightside facing off against the talons of the darkside. The underdogs of underdogs. The beacon of hope to those who will otherwise never live to see the wake of light envelope their world. Freedom for the oppressed!
We fight to liberate and to serve as a sort of ‘Robin Hood’ faction. We raid and steal weapons, ammunition, fighter craft, food, and vital supplies for the Alliance and for those we wish to help.
We are what I would call a ‘major minor faction’. We would like to grow and make our presence one to fear by the evil empires, but we will never apply for major faction status. We are NOT a rebellion faction by the site definition. However, we will definitely support and contribute to the formation of rebellions. Therefore, we are an alliance of rebels.
While I realize that this is not exactly like the "Alliance to Restore the Republic", we will try to keep it as close as possible. We're nostalgic too!
What does this Rebel Alliance do? We are about as pure to the films’ Rebellion as you can get, if you consider the current state of the board. Our men are few but our resolve is strong and we will fight for freedom from oppression--not freedom from law. We are not anarchists. We raid and strike at our enemies to cripple, but not to possess.
If the cause is right, we may even lend our services in an invasion or rebellion, free of charge!
So, you’re terrorists? Absolutely not. We only fight to liberate and preserve the rights of sentients under the iron fist of oppressive regimes and police states. We don’t kill innocents.
Pirates? Not at all. While pirates raid for plunder with nearly no discrimination, the Rebel Alliance seeks only to punish and weaken those who disregard the lives of sentients, and to help liberate those under vile governments.
Pirates also attack smugglers and other cargo runners, which we often employ to help transport supplies. Therefore, we don’t like pirates one bit.
Stay on target... Our targets will be any faction that is despotic, genocidal, rampantly violent, and/or tolerant/supportive of slavery. We will also target companies and factories aligned with enemy factions.
Who are your allies? We don’t affiliate with your imperialist major factions. However, we are friendly to those forces we believe represent the lesser evils (or even sometimes the greatest good). For instance, looking at the current state of affairs in the galaxy, we would be friendly to the Levantine Sanctum and the Republic, and our stance towards the Mandalorians and Black Sun would be neutral.
We do have ties with likeminded minor factions. [member="Regor Laxvan"]’s Galactic Liberation Collective is our sister faction, and we hope to build on our recently developed relationship with the Bothan SpyNet.
Pull out! We are not afraid to embark on the most dangerous of missions, however we don't believe in unnecessary risk to our soldiers or the people we are seeking to aid. We will leave if the goal is not worth the risk.
I grow tired of asking this: Where is the Rebel base?! The Rebellion did learn one good thing from the classic Sith: The Rule of Two. We will always have a base on two unclaimed planets. When a major faction moves into one, we move out.
What is the method to your means? While all your political rambling is fine and dandy, no one ever won a cause by taking notes. This is why we believe in taking military action.
The Alliance believes that airpower is king. He who controls the skies controls the war. That is why our major units and recipients of resources are our starfighter corps. We will feature Rogue Squadron as the prime component of our faction.
Ground combat, however, is inevitable. We will have Marines/commando groups when the battle needs to be on a more personal level. You will not see us digging trenches or charging across the fields with armored units clearing the way. The Alliance emphasizes more subtle tactics.
We have a very small space fleet at the moment. In the future, we hope to partner with shipbuilders and produce a decent navy capable of keeping us fresh and on the move, self-sufficient versus harassing squads, and supporting more fighter squadrons.
You are part of the Rebel Alliance, and a traitor! Our leadership is composed of the Council of Generals, brought to order (but not absolutely controlled) by the Benefactor, Geneviève Lasedri (yours truly).
Ground troops are commanded by Field Captains, who report to the Council.
Each fighter squadron will have its flight leader, who receives his orders directly from the Council.
Do you hire mercenaries? Not usually. Mercenaries can be bought off and cannot be expected to abide by our principles. However, when the Council deems it necessary, we may ask for hired assistance.
May the Force be with you? While we do accept Force users (Geneviève herself is Force-sensitive), we do so at great discretion. As we have seen played out far too many times, Force users can be very volatile and, honestly, cause most of the havoc in the galaxy today. All questionable Force-sensitive applicants will be screened prior to acceptance into the Alliance. We do not accept Sith into our ranks, and those with prior allegiances to the Sith will be investigated before acceptance as a member.
We provide a Force training area within our faction for those who wish to improve their skills or instruct others.
Why should I join the Rebellion? Because you believe in the rights of all sentients to live without fear, and you want to bring light to the farthest reaches of the galaxy; to strike at the arteries of the darkside factions but avoid the restraints of politics. We are not warmongers. We are liberators.
Also, because there needs to be a Rebel Alliance!
