Something about the way that Brooke responded said more to him than was probably intended, but as soon as she was moving, it was out of mind. He lost sight of everything but her outline once the smoke was engulfing the area. That let him move into a position where he could catch anyone with delusions of grandeur, which was all of them. Once the crack hit them, they were all down. That left the easy task of pulling their lightsabers.

Smartest thing you could do in your lifetime is leave right now. His words to them, cold and pointed, were effective. The majority of them were gone, and gone quickly. Save one or two who thought that had the skills.

They didn’t.

Your friends can return with backup all you want… The words seemed to catch one of them, like they were found out.

Sure, combat was something that Brooke historically avoided, but if she had to unearth some secrets? She knew how to defend herself and to disable those who were coming for her. And if she really needed to, how to end them. With her skillset, though, sometimes she did have a playful approach to combat scenarios.

And knew enough than to give the others a target. But what she was not used to was working with someone who had the experiences that Connel did. Jedi had one set but those who were military? They were a different animal all together.

As he gave them a chance to leave, Brooke stopped her current spell, another came into mind. Grabbing at the pendant around her neck, she smiled as she whispered a new spell, more of the blue-white smoke appeared, but so did a sound, a thud-thud, of something big, rancor size, walking from behind them.

Connel wouldn’t see anything, not until she knew it was time to call the full spectral form forward, but the size and threat? Hopefully that’d give the foes time to reconsider.

No, he didn’t know what was walking in, but his HUD displayed readings it was capable of picking up, not much, but enough to know that there was something big about to go down. His instincts heightened as the environment grew tense, the air thick with anticipation. The HUD indicated fluctuations in energy levels, suggesting the presence of advanced tech or a highly augmented being. He prepared for action, unsure if this encounter would lead to conflict or an unexpected alliance.

Hear that? Don’t think it’s for you. His words to them, simple, yet brutally honest. Right now there was no way of telling what was about to happen. It didn’t matter though.

They ran.

When it was clear, Connel simply said to Brooke.

I’m not a “real Shadow”. Still really a Guardian. My father. He called in a favor and I was taught Special Forces tactics. I don’t always like using them, but if I can make someone else’s job lighter… easier… I’d make him and the name proud. Simple, truthful. He wasn’t looking for pity, praise, or really anything, but why not just tell?

Next room should be the tomb itself. Let’s move.

The trick with some spells was that technology could rule out what was just in someone’s mind. And while those sounds and thoughts could scare most, the hardened beings who trusted their equipment, Mandalorians and the like over their own senses. So the spell was actually vibrating the air, and the ground, maybe not a one-for-one, but as close as Brooke could to a rancor.

As she could sense the people running, she kept the spell up for a few more steps, to really sell it, before a rancor roar filled the room, and when deemed sufficient, Brooke dissipated the spell.

“Trust me, I know your father would be proud of how you’re handling things.” She had heard tale of Connel in passing, but knew enough of Caltin, the big guy, that as long as his son was fighting the good fight? He was doing fine.

“Lets go.” She nodded as she fixed her belt and pouches. Leading the way, a small spell to assist her in seeing anything that was imbued with the Force. A low whistle as they entered a more lavish room, beyond the small stone path.

He was moving, or starting to when he told him about his father. She knew the guy, and had no reason to talk Vanagor up, either. So when she said what she did, it made Connel stumble momentarily, the words hit him in the best way possible.

Thank you. What was this new emotion? That was not some kind of odd joke, or lame delve into feelings. There was some level of inspiration he was feeling now. That would have to be addressed later.

They ran, and indeed entered the tomb. It was, in a word, lavish. Lavish indeed did not give credence to the look of the room itself either. From the walls, to the banners, to the tables, bejeweled seats, and even walkways. There was more to this than worshipping a fallen Sith Lord.

Why do I have the desire to utter the words “curioser and curioser”?

Brooke smiled. She was always one who knew to share emotions. They might be the path to the dark side for some, but as a Witch and not a Jedi, she wasn’t worried about that. Her power came from emotions and thoughts.

As she stepped into the next chamber, her hand went to her lightsaber in the pouch. It was a weapon that could do some damage but she wasn’t certain it was what she wanted here. She preferred the Force.

Just not in a room where there was worship of something.

“I’m right there with you. This is not what I expected.”
Not here. What… her eyes quickly scanned the walls, that wasn’t Aurebesh in the way she understood it.

“Some ancient language…”

If that tomb is empty… What? Connel was an emotional brick, but even he could joke. He turned to her with a wry smirk, breaking the tension, at least his as she no doubt could not see behind his mask. The language was indeed ancient… SERAPHIM was trying to decipher, but it would take time. We’re not far from Mandalorians… and there are Sith here. I know that there’s a rumor that they have a thing… but…

Looking around, shining lamps on some of the sections, he wondered out loud.

Why I don’t think that this is a part of any of them? Order, Empire or Covenant… and that is concerning…
