The Raven Who Stole Christmas [Invasion of Barab I - Red Ravens vs Black Suns ]

[OOC Discussion]

[Theme]

1jlyc4.jpg

The sparkling lights of distant stars looming in the vastness of space above Barab I were ever suddenly tarnished. A single tear in space opened up, and from it shot a vessel of great proportions, nearby another hole opened up, and soon it seemed it was multiplying in twos, fives and tens. In a matter of seconds, hundreds of ships were pouring out of Hyperspace, from the lowly starfighter manned by a trigger-crazy gangster to the bulky freighters chugging along with a smuggler at the helm, and the crime lords who sat in the luxurious offices of their corvettes and frigates. It was only recently the Black Suns had taken firm control of Barab I - and as the Abrion forces left, and the Black Suns began to arrive, the Red Ravens hoped to capitalise on this. Hoping that due to the recent transfer of hands, any forms of defence would not be up to its full potential.

The Red Ravens had their targets, the men and women of the crime syndicate knew where they were striking. A handful would infiltrate the Space Station with Sigourney Xanthius, the Red Raven herself in the flesh, and Lysle Rigger, known better by his smuggling name Lysle of the Hydian Way. Cryax Bane was leading the offensive, drilling into the underground city and taking the mining headquarters and offices, with Colap Ticon leading an attack on the mines themselves. They had it all worked out, but they knew all plans went to hell the moment battle started. The surface was inhospitable, and there would be no fighting until they got inside the planet itself, where the capital was hidden deep beneath the planets crust.

The attacks would be simultaneous, the first of three called for Sigourney to lead a number of Ravens to board the ore depot. A task that was easily conducted, once the opposition was taken out. She knew Lysle had his plans, and the gathering of Ravens were shuffling into transport ships, shuttles and freighters, ready to board the station, all the while across other ships, other Ravens were preparing for their assault. Those in her shuttle were strapped in EVA suits, and the hiss of the airlock told her they had just separated. She manoeuvred in zero gravity, pulling herself towards the cockpit of the shuttle, a speck of dust in the vacuum of space, almost unnoticeable. Peering out the viewport she could see the station looming ever closer, and soon all hell would break loose.

Across the vastness of space, only one thing was sure: death. Without life preserving suits, hardshells, and durasteel walls, anyone out here would die faster than the fraction of a blinking eye. Instantaneous death, no feeling whatsoever of the oxygen being sucked from your lungs and every inch of your flesh freezing as if one had been in a freezer for a millennium. What poor souls were those infidels that had been jettisoned from airlocks and hangar bays, what poor souls indeed.

But death was something entirely different when you spoke of a Gen'Dai, the seemingly immortal race of beings that were outwardly known for being so as well as taking upon less desirable occupations. Xalus was a bad example of the latter, but his people were actually quite peaceful and philosophical and he only knew that from the records on them. He'd probably never meet another of his kind in his entire five thousand or so years in existence. The Galactic Empire had made quite sure that his people were dealt with and, surprisingly, he didn't care. What mattered was him - here and now.

"Orders," came a voice from behind him, "Master?"

The Gen'Dai mercenary turned to face the TA3-series Tactical droid, Taz. The armored monster blinked twice, processing his words and stirring himself of those earlier inward thoughts. "Take the troops to the Hound. Move the speeders to make room if you have to."

"Yes, master." The droid nodded, already relaying the message to his robotic compatriots before about facing and scurrying off to attend to other duties.

Hopefully the crew would do well against these Black Suns. Droids and Gen'Dai weren't exactly known for showing fear. Xalus would make sure he lived up to that reputation.

Barik paced the passenger hold of the ship, one fist clenched, and one hand clamped around the hilt of his knife. It was obvious he didn't like being in the ship. However, rather then anxiety, his face was set with a combination of anticipation and determination. This was the first time he'd left Antecdant since he'd gone there. The first time he'd traveled in space since he'd gone there. He had no idea why people insisted on space travel- why wasn't one world good enough? And what was the point of invading another? The only reason he had agreed to join in the invasion was to leave the eucopolis of Antecdant. He was only there, becuase that's where the Ticons were. He still wasn't sure why he wanted to stay near the Ticons. He knew none of them, and none of them knew him. They lived in a cesspool of filth and noise, filled with thousands upon thousands of people. It was that place most that made him wish he was in the jungle. But then he remembered the jungle clearer... He still wasn't sure which was worse.

What mattered was where he was now. On a ship, ready to raid the mines of some planet. He had to choose between a station, a city, and underground mines. None sounded appealing- but one involved floating in space, one involved a cesspool much like Antecdant, and one involved something close to silence and calm. Underground, away from the constant noise and stench of the city above. The only obstacle would be the Black Sun. Predators. No different then Duniya. It would almost be simple again. Kill, or be killed; the simplest thing there could be. No worrying about credits, laws, society. Just a simple fact; if you don't kill whatever you're facing, you will die. Kill them, and you will live. Simple. Easy.

But first, he'd have to get out of this metal deathtrap. He could only hope they landed soon.

Nei Laa was looking forward to this. Though her main profession was smuggling, there was just something about fights that got her heart racing.

After she had been knocked out of the Tournament of the Gods, the Nautolan had pooled her credits together and managed to get her suit -- particularly the visor -- fixed. However, it had left a good dent in her savings, and a need to blow off some steam. So, here she was -- helping the Ravens in their attempt to take Barab I. Afterwards, she might pick up a few smuggling contracts, start building up her fortune again.

Double-checking her pistols to make sure they were primed for combat, the Nautolan put down her visor. Let's get this show on the road!

Objective: Drill into the underground city

Cryax Bane, hunched over the central computer of a Military grade Esfandia-Class Carrier Corvette, pushed his glasses up on the bridge of his nose, cracked his knuckles and got ready for the action. The Chiss slicer, an unlikely leader for this mission, was surrounded by his Red Ravens brothers and sisters and their allies, as well as his girlfriend, all amassed to help aid the Raven's attack on the Black Suns interest, the harsh, irradiated planet of Balab I.

At their command, thirty droid-manned Y-8 mining vessels with lasers aimed right at the planet's surface. The vessels were ideal because they could drill through rock without setting fuel barrels and other flammable objects ablaze. Although once they broke through, the planet's flooded surface would be a force to be reckoned with in and of itself. But once the lasers had penetrated the planet's crust, the underground mining city would be ripe for infiltration and phase two of their operation would begin.

Ever since the Chiss had been injured by the Suns during an escape from their death camp on Kessel, he'd had a debt to settle with his adversaries. "Eat my mother-karking lasers you bastards." He muttered, and with a wicked grin, he barked out the orders for the mining droids to power up their weapons.

Aboard his Esfandia Class Carrier Corvette, Ice suited up for another battle. This time, he would go in guns blazing with the rest of the troops. Once the way was cleared through enemy resistance in space of course. One nice thing about being the owner of a tech company. One had access to all kinds of cool toys. Any he would take advantage of every piece of tech his company made. After suiting up for battle, he headed up to the bridge. It appeared as though they had just dropped out of hyperspace and [member="Cryax Bane"] was wasting no time getting the lasers set to attack the planet.

Ice ordered his half dozen fighters to action. They were to fly escort for his ship and to help get them to the planets surface when the time was right. For now they hung back while the main fleet, and laser drills did their jobs and swept aside the defenses in orbit above the planet. With his dog next to him, he leaned over to pet him. "Easy boy. Soon." He smirked as he looked at his companies creation. It was amazing what engineers could come up with. He watched Cryax going to work, so he decided not to interrupt. Instead he cast a glance around to see who else was nearby.

"Hey Keira. You made it! Wasn't sure if you were comin' along on this boat or not. How you hangin' in there? You ready?" His tone was friendly and casual. As if there was nothing really dangerous about to happen.

"Know thy self, know thy enemy.
A thousand battles,
a thousand victories"
- Some dead famous General from a galaxy far far away
The old warhoud stood just outside the mining companies main office building. He dawned the infamous mandalorian armour, his helmet clasped to his waist as he enjoyed a Dilnlexan cigar. Today he was fighting as a solder of fortune in defense of the Black Sun's territory. Written through out mandalorian history, the warrior race was well known to part take in everyone's wars in one form or another. They used their experiences and adapted war doctrines of many races, governments, warlords and so on to their own. Such a vast and rich knowledge base in the arts of combat has made the Mando'ade a deadly force not to be recon with.

Strider Garon puffed on his cigar as he awaited for the enemy to breach the surface like lambs to the slaughter. It was refreshing to be the grunt on the front lines again, brought back a youthful spark with in the old hound. He had been long as field marshal, mostly administrating war so he enjoyed such outings with full contempt. The enemy force that threatened this planet was nothing more then a rag take crew of gangsters, thugs and hired guns. Non of them were the caliber of warrior as the Mandos were, making Strider a worthy piece on this field of battle.

Strider made an addition to his loadout, instead of the jet-pack he decided to take the ysalamiri Nurtrian tube. It would provide him with a bubble of protection against force users. THe rest was his usual gadgatry, such as his trusty EE-3 carbine blaster, wrist flamethrower and mini rocket launcher, beskad, many grenades......... this list goes on.

Noise noise noise, the lack of it crested against the orbit of the planet below, that glowing orb ascending and crawling towards the incoming fleet. A pale fleshy tone covered it's face in the midnight sky of space, hardly anything worth looking at, as the Sith Lord noted it's likeness to a bruised fruit. Gabriel squinted his singular crimson orb as he viewed the interface, the threshold of this attack, in all it's peaceful solidarity. The silence before the storm, the moment before the stomping of the adder, the click before the final chime on the bell clock. Truth be told, he reflected, he knew not where his services would best be delivered. Word was sent of objectives and goals were given, but in the end, his saber would land where he willed it, his force would compound whomever he chose.

They should find themselves grateful, grateful that in the universe of conflict and decay and dilapidation, he would remove himself from the much needed deliverance to bring about untold levels of misery. It was said that people cherished certain assets, he would remove them. It was said that they cherished life, he would take it. It was said they feared pain, he would bring it. The last goal was one that found itself mired in levels of assertion, a level that could rise to the crescendo and fall to the napir at his beck and call. He wielded it as anything else, an instrument clutched within the folds of white-knuckled fists and swung violently. But it was more than that, it was a taste, it was an experience that could forever change. It was something the body couldn't adjust to, and would fight it to the very end. It's in this struggle, in this conflict of pain and the attempt to defeat it, that the greatest lessons would be learned and ingrained. This world, the Black Sun, they would soon find themselves his apprentice.

And mid thought, he cracked his neck, feeling the seeping animosity of Reverance filter through his mind, in incense that clung to the furniture. It felt...right. It felt like brothers, sharing in a moment where purposes and efforts aligned. The hair stood up on the back of his neck, the clench of his brothers grip wrapped coldly around his spine, and he felt the bile and the hatred and the anger. Funneled into him, he accepted his place, his place above the pain and the force and the weapons at his side. To them, he was Master and they were the beaten, kowtowing to every request.

He waited, moving with the forces as just another piece, waiting for the time where he would break away and assist the Red Raven's in their violent efforts to cling at commerce and value. He could respect that, ambition gleefully assisted.

Keira, the youngest of the three Ticon siblings, leaned back in her chair on the corvette, lazily levitating the lightsaber that was almost always seen somewhere on her person above her hand, flashing a crooked smile at the Chiss' mutterings, knowing all too well the grudge the man held against Ravens' public enemy number one: the Black Suns. While she herself didn't have much to hold against them, she had been at an interview in said slicer's office when a wayward bounty hunter sent by the organization barged in. The encounter had been short-lived, but it still stood out clearly in her memory. Maybe she'd have a chance to find just who hired the Trandoshan and give them a piece of her mind.

But for now there was the mission at hand. Armed with just her lightsaber, the Force and her past experience, the rogue Padawan wasn't exactly a formidable opponent at first glance, but once she entered the battlefield a different side of her was shown, and it was far more serious than her usual carefree, relaxed demeanor. For the moment she was centering herself for the fight ahead, knowing the Suns wouldn't go out without a good, long fight. And she intended to give it to them, whether she would be on the front lines or not.

The saber hilt fell back into her palm, and she flipped it around her fingers before hooking it back at her waist, remaining seated for the time being. They would be landing soon enough, provided things went smoothly, and then things really started. But for the moment the other Ravens were going through their own sort of pre-drop rituals. Time to crash the party. Blinking when Ice spoke she looked up with another smile. "More than ready. It's time to show them just who it is they're messing with."

War, was a cruel unforgiving thing. It's battlefields were covered in countless dead and injured. It changed a person at there very core. She had been in a few herself in her short time. All included the death of beloved Vode and one was even the Mana'lor. Everyone around you getting shot at including yourself. It was nothing she could ever get used to or at least she hoped she never did. Whom could get used to seeing your comrades being blown up or worse bleeding out in front of you while you hold their hand helpless to do a thing.

Sighing she turned to Cryax. He had been though a lot of little messes but as far as she knew never a full blown war. Ana was glad to be apart of his team but knew she was going to need to keep her head on straight. There was no room for error here or thinking with her heart.

Ana was already dressed for battle. She carried on her belt an additional item that had been recently acquired, her mother's lightsaber. Her helmet was in her hand for the time being.

Once the helmet went on she was all business. They had already talked about how they couldn't go around holding hands or acting like lovebirds. Black Sun would use such information against them and neither of them wanted that. She could wait though till they got off this ship or were attacked.

"Assuming we do get to the city, what is the plan?" Ana didn't believe that they would make it before being attacked but she wondered if they did have a plan.

The Whiphid looked up from sharpening his war blade as the droning siren began; indicating the Y5 had begun it's assault. He got up from the main crew quarters to the bridge where the bespectacled Chiss was busy initiating the assault from the computer terminal. He wandered around the side of the hefty computer terminal and found his droid~ still downloading the remote access programme into his expanded data banks via a cable link up.

"You seem to recieve the bulk of the slicing jobs here buddy don't ya~?" the creature laughed

R4 responded with a whirring chuckle before a beeping noise indicated he was ready

"I assume R4 knows what he's doing?" he asked the chiss with a smirk

A smirk played across his face upon hearing her reply. Like her, he didn't really have much against the Black Suns. As far as he was concerned, it was just business. But that didn't mean he wouldn't give them hell. He always did his best in whomever employ he found himself in. "Aye. That it is. May the force be with us right?" He gave her a quick wink after noticing her lightsaber and making the comment.

Not far away from her though was a decidedly less confident looking person. He moved a little bit closer so he could speak softly and not let everyone on the ship know of what he noticed. "Hey....Raven isn't it? How you holdin' up? You kind of look nervous. Everything alright?" The concern in his voice was quite genuine. He never liked to see people on his side in a state of near panic. Especially before a battle.

Lysle Rigger sat strapped into a seat, harness over his chest and holding him in tight. He watched Sigourney from his vantage point, behind the visor of his EVA-MK1 suit. Specially designed. Most of the other occupants with him were such people as [member="Daxton Bane"], and a plethora of DD-S1 security droids. They needed people who could survive in the harshness that was the vacuum of space, as Lysle had a card up his sleeve. He knew the One Sith would send in aid, and he began to signal in on one of their own. He spoke over the comm-link within his helmet to [member="Reverance"]. He didn't know the man too well, in fact, he didn't know him at all. He was simply given names of those who would be joining him, and beyond that, he put his faith into the Sith - what a horrible thought for some, but not for Lysle. "This is Raven One, I'm en route to the station. I have a feeling they'll be throwing everything they have at us when they realise Sigourney and I are boarding that station. Think you can give us a hand?" Something shuddered, and Lysle was thrown forwards some. He looked up and they had smacked into the side of the station, now it was time to blow their way in.

The team present began to unstrap themselves out of their seats, and the door of the shuttle opened up - exposing them to the vacuum. A sensation overcame them as the air that was suctioned out threatened to fling them into the void, but they clung on. It was only a second, but now the only oxygen for them was in their own suits. Lysle began to position himself, climbing through the seats as he floated effortlessly and weightlessly, and on his belt he unhooked three thermal detonators. He pushed himself out into space, and with his fingers tapping his palm, he was able to utilising his manned manoeuvring unit, small rockets of gas aided in him to essentially fly on his own. He made some distance between him, the hull of the station and the shuttle. Thermal detonators in hand, and an eerie silenced that consumed all sound, he tossed the three grenades. Instantly they clung to the metal hull, and the countdown began as a red glow began to flash.

Nei's head tresses picked up on the emotions jumbling around the bridge. They began to twitch in annoyance. Anxiety, grim determination, a hunger for battle (heh, and it wasn't just from her), and an overall impatience (again, not just from her). Couldn't these kriffin' people keep their emotions to themselves?

In her grumblings, the Nautolan had mostly tuned out the chatter from the others. However, the Mandalorian woman's comment caught her ear, and Nei walked up to the group from her previously isolated section.

She holstered one weapon and rested the other on her shoulder. "Yeah, How're we gonna get down there? I've got a twitchy finger and a blaster just begging to shoot something -- or someone -- to tau." She scowled. "But I'm objecting if I'm bait. No way in Ercae I'm doin' that."

Aedan sighed as he leaned back kicking his feet up and muttering darkly to himself finally he muttered to the members sitting in the lounge. "HOW DID WE GET STUCK WITH THIS BORING JOB! The last three times we took the fighters out we only had to launch and the few pirates foolish enough to try and cross the Suns ran. I want some fething action guys." The group who was with him were members of his personal unit 6 Mando'ade who had swore to protect him at all costs. The members of this team were arrayed around the pilots lounge some reading data pads others playing a game of Djar'ik others were cleaning their ground combat gear armor weapons the lot of it. Finally Makin looked up and sighed looking at his alit'bur "Boss you knew what the job was when you accepted and you had them crew three ships. Are you expecting anyone to be foolish enough to fight against us." Lunasa looks up from her spot and gives a sharp laugh as she tosses an empty battery pack at Makin "Hey still the man can hope can't he. After the last fight we haven't had any serious action just training and hunting. Even you were complaining not a week ago about the lack of action." The rest of the crew laughed as they went back to what they were doing.

Finally Aedan stood up and snatched his lightsabers from his belt walking to the center of the room he sat down cross legged reaching out with the force he called his lightsaber pike to him. Closing his eyes he holds his hand over the weapon as it started to slowly take itself apart and then the process of putting itself back together. He repeated this with each of his weapons making sure that none of the parts needed to be replaced and then he stood making his way to the docking hatch that his Devastator sat in. Walking to it he slid his lightsaber pike into its storage compartment and pulled his helmet from the pilots seat patting his R8 unit on its rotating head before he made his way to the bridge calmly. Their route was done now there were returning to the Ore Depot to give a report and restock on food, water, and fuel before they headed to the underground city to rest up before their next run.

While other Sith Lords and their counterparts would be aboard Star Destroyers among a crew filled with Stormtroopers and grey-uniformed officers, Mordecai always opted for things that were unusual and rarely seen. He liked rarities, deformities, and all those cool things that could only be gazed upon with either awe or terror and the latter was what people usually got when encountering such a specimen of an Epicanthix. Rather than the standard assembly line types, this particular hulk of a man was surrounding by living, organic material rather than durasteel and electronics.

Yuuzhan Vong were such amazing creatures. Everything about them - from their organic implants to the way they grew war materials and starships. Simply amazing works of both art and life. Mordecai craved their powers to alter anything they wanted, even planets if they so chose to do so. For now, this world was to be left alone, for the most part. No terraforming or anything. Purely war.

"Deploy the Yorik-et," he commanded, "And ready the Fire Breathers and Yorik-Tremas."

A gruff, harsh voice replied, "Yes, my lord."

"Hope everything is all and well," Mordecai began, opening a transmission to [member="Cryax Bane"], "Let me know when it's time to let loose the dogs of war."
