The Quest (Jedi)

Jaxton Ravos

Mindwalker of the Outer Rim
Jaxton returned Karen's nod and then headed over and whispered to his apprentice @[member=""][member=""][member=""][member=""][member=""][member=""][member=""][member=""][member=""][member=""][member=""][member=""][member=""][member=""][member=""][member=""][member=""][member="Dr. Sirantha Tesselor"] "I'd recommend you leave. It seems this emerging conversation should be a private one." Jaxton said silently into her ear and then began walking out, examining the room as he left. He frowned as he saw Master Wraith and his former apprentice Rosa, then turned around and slunk his head. It was nearly impossible for a red-skinned, blue-haired 2 meter man to move unnoticed, but Jaxton did his best to try. Jaxton liked the man initially, and still did, but all he felt was guilt when he saw him after what he had invited to the Coruscant temple in their last meeting.

As the meeting devolved into nonsense that was not on topic, Selena groaned. How karking typical. Actual things need to be done that might have actual relevance to what happens in the near future and everyone would rather talk about something of significantly less importance. Social trivial nonsense. Just another reason why the Jedi should not have families. People would much rather discuss family poodoo than actually deal with the problems of the galaxy that they were, by duty, supposed to be more concerned with.

She pushed by the Zeltron Knight as she excited the room. Hissing under her breath, "Karking waste of time." She would probably arrive at the shuttle tomorrow and then find herself deeply in meditation during the flight to Ossus. A flight that would have been the perfect setting for the rest to have killed time talking family garbage instead of wasting decent prep time.

Siratha replie to [member='Jaxton Ravos'] "I, will surely leave and get ready, this conversation is not to my liking" She then began her silent tactical retrat from room, trying to go unoticed.

Phylis sighed. "Yes, you are correct. I find it hard in my heart to compel her to do something. She is close to me in age, it's true, but she also has an innocence about her that I don't want to break. And yes, I care about her opinion of me. But if I try to make her obey me then...yes. Yes, you are right I need to make her listen to her. That is the hard part of being a teacher."

She shook herself free of these thoughts. "I should go. There are many preparations to be made before we leave."

Tilting her head Spencer didn’t have time to react to anything Aston had told her. Her eyes fluttered for a few moments as she looked at the Jedi Master claiming to be their father. Her eyes searched his face finding the points that reminded her of Aston, they even had the same look to their hair and the same kind eyes. She continued to blink rapidly as she looked towards Aston and figured he was thinking the same thing as she was.

“Its taken you long enough. But Mother probably kept use hidden quite well”

Spencer chuckled as she leaned forward and hugged her father. Despite the time it had taken him to come forward to them she was okay with it. The girl wouldn’t have grown up with him anyways – they were taken by the Jedi because of their gifts and how they were conceived. Spencer released her father and caught a glimpse of Phylis leaving the area. Knowing her place she moved to follow her Master.

“Um, I’ll see you tomorrow Father.”

She gave Aston a nod, which was a universal acknowledgement that they’ll see each other soon. She ran after Phylis and took her place next to the Knight. Before she spoke to her master she once more looked towards her brother and spoke to him through his mind.

Don't beat yourself up, I'm strong I have to be if I'm your other half you know!

“How did the conversation with my mother go?”

Phylis wanted to lash out at Spencer verbally for her actions. She wanted to punish the girl for her foolishness. Or did she? No, Satara was right, she was too soft for this. Looking at Spencer she knew she couldn't hurt the girl.

Instead she smiled slightly. "She gave me some good advice; not be nice to you and punish you severely. I can see why Dathomiri are considered so formidable. But seriously, from now on Spencer you listen to me, you stay near me, and you work with me. Understand? Now let's get going."

The Padawan sensed the conflict within her Master, of course Spencer figured where the conversation went with her mother and her master. Sighing softly, she hoped that the gentle side of Phylis beat out the rough talk her Mother had told the Master to do with her. Shuddering slightly, she remembered the times she had gotten in trouble enough for her Mother to be called back to Tython to take care of her.

Horrible times, poor Aston suffered as well when he was completely innocent. It was probably that, which caused Spencer to feel even guiltier. Either way, she was happy when Phylis smiled at her, even if it was just slightly.

“I understand Master, I’ll do my best…I just want you to know I’m really sorry about all of it…please don’t let my mother influence you – I like you the way you are!”

Of course she did, Spencer didn’t want to be punished over and over again!

"For some reason I find it hard to punish you, Spencer. Come on...let's get ready. We've got a lot of work to do before we can leave. Go and pack your things, we leave very soon."

And so the next day dawned and all the Jedi who had pledged to go with Phylis should soon be appearing. Hopefully they would still be interested after the 'Days of our Lives' spectacle of the night before....

First amongst those that Phylis was waiting for was her padawan Spencer. She knew she had personally set the lazy girl's alarm clock....

Karen was near the landing pad getting her ship prepped and waving off her astromech's incessant cries for attention. She had decided to take a separate transport to better situate herself and her gear. She did so enjoy flying herself everywhere. A pilot's crutch, I suppose.

The woman lifted up the faceplate of her Hospitaller and approached Phylis with a slight bow,

"All set on this end Knightess. Ready when you are." *wink*

Karen stood up straight and awaited the arrival of the others.

Wearing a set of Echani Fiber Armor beneath his brown outer robe, Kamon walked through the halls towards the landing pad where they'd been told to assemble. He'd spent most of the night thinking about how little interaction he'd had with his children after introducing himself to them. Spencer seemed calm about it, but she'd run off after giving him a hug. Aston was... troubled. They hadn't had time to talk, though.

Now it was the next day, and it was time for the mission. Maybe he could talk to them while they flew to their destination. He walked out onto the landing pad and saw his daughters master there. An Echani double-brand rested on his back, and twin lightsabers rested on his hips. He approached her and Karen both, nodding to each.

"Good morning, Knights."

Satara felt confident that Phylis would heed her words. There was one way a person could treat their friend or companion but a completely different way for them to treat a student, even if those were the same. Having learned how bad teachers act, pushing their students beyond the point of breaking, Satara knew the lines never to cross. So her methods were to be strict but the teach, not to terrorize or even punish her any of her children or students. But the woman's words, she also has an innocence about her that I don't want to break would haunt her. Innocence that both of the twins possessed was a luxury, one most Witches didn't have. Satara too had been guilty of not wanting to destroy that innocence so perhaps the fault lay in her as well.

The thoughts clouding her mind, she remained quiet as Phylis left her side, merely giving a nod to the woman before she had gone away. Perhaps much of this was her fault as well, Satara began to think.

When morning came, she emerged from her quarters with just enough sleep for her to be rested but enough to say that she had slept well. Around her waste, she had her lightsaber hilt which she had created many years under her Master's guidance, along with the force forged sword she had been given upon her ascension on Dathomir. Satara still thought of what Phylis had said then, of the innocence the twins still possessed. It troubled her. She arrived to the meeting point, quickly spotting some of the attendees of the meeting, but not all of them. "Good Morning," the female said in greeting to her former Master, Phylis and the girl with blue hair, all the while her eyes searching for her children.

Jaxton walked to the congregations of Knights and recognized his former mentor Karen Roberts, the founder of the expedition, the woman he met last night called Satara, as well as the Jedi Master Vondiranach, whom he'd met during his time at Junction. Oh what a terrible day that was. He never remembered Vondiranach holding any ill-will towards him for the events that transpired, but he still felt shamed to face him after his action on Junction. His ease in panicking, his almost giving to the darkside, his failure to stop . . . well, everyone knew what he failed to stop. He didn't see his padawan Sirantha, nor any padawan for that matter. Seems the trainers were always the early birds.

"Good morning." He greeted the group. "So what ship will be taking? I'd offer mine, but I don't have the weapons or shields we'd be needing going so close to Sith territory."

The alarm went off and Spencer opened her eyes. She wasn’t the best at waking up; she enjoyed her sleep far too much. It was a place where no one’s emotions could penetrate; she was for once at peace. Pushing herself up, she frowned and moaned at the alarm. She knew exactly who had set the bloody thing there and why it was set. Swinging her legs over the side of her bed she headed towards the shower and did what she needed to do.

Despite the fact her alarm was set, Spencer took a rather long time to get ready. Realizing how late she was Spencer took off down the hallways. Finally arriving at the hanger, Spencer skidded to a stop and she hunched over as she dropped her heavy bag onto the floor at Phylis’ feet. She gasped for air as she waved her hand letting Phylis know that she was okay and that there was nothing she needed.

“I’m here I’m here! GAHALKA…”

Standing up she looked at Phylis with a narrow glance.

“That alarm was annoying you know – you could have just woke me up yourself.”

A grin swept across her face as she sat down onto the back she brought.

First thing Sirantha did in the morning was locate her master who was with some other knights "Good morning. Ok what will be ours flying coffin?"

Phylis raised an eyebrow. "I see you took my request to pack seriously. Have you got a whole pre-fab shelter in there or something?"

"We have to get going. Anyone who follows after can catch up. Let's get moving."

Phylis had procured a YT series freighter to carry them. Fast and agile, it should get them out of trouble if they were detected and attacked.

Sitting in the main conference room as the pilot completed the take off procedures, Phylis looked to each of the Jedi. "It will be dangerous, but thank you for joining me."

Padak walked up to the landing platform, training lightsaber clipped to his belt.He was dressed in his traveling robes, with a pack strapped to his back. The ship was there, waiting. He was excited for this expedition.

"I'm here Master! Couldn find my pack."

He hastily bowed, then boarded the transport.

Karen winked at Phylis and let everyone board the YT transport. Then she returned to her own personal vessel and entered pre-flight. She stood ready on the com to assist.

"Tower Command. This is Escort 1170. Requesting outbound clearance and a flight path to orbit. Over."

~ "Roger that Escort 1170. We're holding the lane open for you. Your all green. God speed and may the Force be with you. Tower Command out." ~

Karen smiled and waited on Phylis' go. Her astromech droid plopped himself down the restraint seat and whirled with excitement.

"I know R2. It's questing time! Hehe."

Kamon followed the others to the ship, not really saying a word. This wasn't his mission. Sure, he outranked those presently gathered, but he wasn't taking command. The Knight was the one in charge of this mission and he would afford her the grace of taking charge. She seemed to be well suited to it so it didn't bother him any that she was giving orders and the like.

"You don't need to thank me. Danger, and the chance for combat, are something an Echani relishes."

He smirked a playful little smirk and then waved his hand at her.

"Theatrics, sorry. Please continue."

He found himself looking over at Spencer, though. His little girl. She was beautiful, much like her mother, but there were definitely elements of him there. Her hair, for example. He hoped they would get more time to talk. Aston too. He wanted to talk to his son as well.

Rowen had taken a tour of the Jedi Temple, being at times render at awe over its simplicity. He wasn’t wholly use to seeing grand building with simple architect; in was in complete contrast with his former owner mansion. Where the Jedi Temple is simple in its structure, yet there was something majestic about it also. His awe over the temple didn’t last long, soon he heard of a rumor about a quest that some of the Jedi’s were going on, and that it was open invite for anyone who wanted to come.

However, from what some to the people were saying, Rowen was pressed for time. All the people that Phylis had gathered had boarded their ship, and were getting ready to fly out. Rowen ran with all his might, though he was the new guy, he didn’t want to miss out on an adventure, plus he could learn some more things about the Force.

When he came to the landing pad, he saw the group he had heard about boarding their ship. Putting all the energy he had he ran until he found himself on the ship. He stayed where he was at, grasping for breath. Only when he felt he caught his breath again, did he go and look for the others. After a couple of minutes he saw the group at the conference room. He stayed in the back, hoping he wasn’t disturbing anyone.

Selena ignored the rest of the people that congregated around the shuttle before they departed. Without so much as saying a word she drifted through the group, almost unseen and definitely unheard. Once on board she found herself a bunk and immediately threw her bag onto it. Quickly following she was laying on the bunk resting her head on that very bag. It contained little. An extra robe or two (they always managed to get destroyed when she went out) and a few basic survival items. She had the skills to live off the land on most worlds so she typically brought very little with her.

The moment her head hit the bag though she did not spend much time in thought. Instead, she calmed her mind and meditated. Mental preparation was the key to success in missions that offered a number of potential threats. She would need to be totally focused and at peace with the Force.
