The Point Of No Return

Connor Harrison

Connor watched the door. All he could hear was the beating of his heart filled with darkness. And with a dull creak the blast door parted from the stairwell, and Coci Sinopi stood before them both, dressed in her signature black attire. The gleaming armour of Thurion Heavenshield dwarfed her. An imposing sight, but riddled with flaws internally.

THIS was the moment the Taung relished; the confrontation, the meeting of warriors, the smell of death. No need to rush this moment – savour it.

”So glad you did.” Connor rasped, not wanting to be the one to loose composure first.

That, hopefully, would be Nima, still beside him. Her energy was bristling and he could feel a strange pull form her, as if she wanted to rush head on into battle with a deluded strength. Let her. It would only serve his purpose.

”You do know by following me here you have sentenced this one to death, don’t you.” He placed a hand on Nima’s shoulder.

His lightsaber stayed on his hip. The whistle coming from the crack in the glass behind them was all that could be heard between their voices in the dark room, illuminated by the light from outside.

"Connor!" he shouted at the man he once knew. "Let the girl go. She's done nothing to deserve any of this. Forget this buisness and come home with us!" It was obvious at this point he wouldn't listen to the likes of him, but he had to give them the option of surrender. His honour demanded it, as did his heart. "Let's go home", he repeated, almost pleading. He didn't wish to fight the poor, deluded padawan he'd enthralled, much less the man he still considered his friend since years back.

Thurion stepped forward, lightsaber now in hand to mimick their movements. He eyed the Twi'lek girl, noticing a tiny hint of hesitation on her part. She was not fully turned, yet she would play her part in protecting her new master. Perhaps there was still hope for her. He was not as certain when it came to Connor; his mind was lost to the Taung, his body its slave. Drastic measures would have to be taken in order to bring him back safely. "Do you remember what you were taught once, Padawan?" he asked with steely determination.

"The Jedi tenets: A Jedi uses the Force for knowledge and defense, never for aggression or personal gain. If a Jedi ignites his lightsaber, he must be ready to take a life. Or have you forgotten, Nima?"

Nima Tann

Master of Her Own Destiny
As two masters entered the room, what she feared had happen. She went silent and just listened them, from the background. Things were about to go badly but she was ready to destroy everything that was between them and their mission. She sensed that Knight Harrison's aura was changing, getting darker and darker every second. Something was wrong. She never wanted to cause unneccesary bloodshed, but Master Sinopi was holding her saber already, so it was too late for that. As she continued to think a plan, she felt Knight Harrison's hand at her shoulder, causing her to take her lightsaber from her greatcoat, as a reflex. "My... my death?" she said, with a confused look, but then she collected herself and with a cold look to the masters, she spoke. "I don't plan on dying, Knight Harrison. Do you?" she smiled evilly.

Then, she heard a footstep, looked at that direction. It was Master Heavenshield, he was directly looking to the girl with determined, cold eyes. He was trying to confuse her again, and she didn't want that to happen, she didn't want to be confused again, so she shook her head, looking at his eyes. "Yes Master Heavenshield. I remember what I was taught once. You taught me to conceal my power. You taught me to live like a droid, with no emotions, with no chance to speak what I thought. You were programming me, filling me with your orders and speeches. You taught me a Code which was a total lie. The Code you don't even agree with. I learned... I learned your relationship with Master Sinopi." she sighed, then continued, this time looking at Master Sinopi. "You both knew... you both knew emotions make people strong. But you were acting, telling us that emotions were weakness. You didn't want the others to be strong as you. But Knight Harrison... he opened my eyes. He told me everything. And I feel alive again thanks to him." She felt her anger was growing, her voice became louder. "I didn't want this to happen. You forced me to do this. And if you attack me don't expect me to let you kill me. I will fight back. I will fight for a better future, that you are trying to destroy now."

"No one is going to die today", was her only response. A cold stare met his face, Coci is master at closing off her mind, door by door closed as she shut out everything around her to focus on her Brother. The doors to her mind will not allow him to penetrate it, it would not allow anyone in, she will keep it that way until the time is right.

Coci will only speak to Connor or rather this Taung warrior, as Connor is unreachable for the present time.

"You disappoint me, it was my belief that I was to face someone powerful and strong and more importantly, intelligent. But I see now I was very much mistaken", she began to move around the room away from Thurion and Nima.

"Were you that desperate that you latched on to the first person that come your way?, someone so weak as Connor Harrison.. and this?", she pointed to Nima, "This is what you recruit. A young Padawan that does not even know her own mind?". She continued to move as if prowling. "Oh how very disappointing".

As Coci stepped forward, the Taung felt the thrill of the chase coming to a head. The battle of mentality was as important as the physical – goad, lead, deconstruct your opponent and then strike when they try to build themselves back up. She walked around the room, and Connor, rather than mirror her, walked along the front of the 4 windows; as if they both kept walking they would soon stand face to face.

”All Jedi are weak, Coci Sinopi. This one was just the dumbest in trying to be the one to understand a power that was beyond him. And don’t expect me to bend to your mind games – if I am so weak, why have you brought another? To pick you up when you fall? To support you as you stumble? I think you are the prime example of why humanity should be wiped out – you think you are something so special, but you just have no idea beyond what you see before you. ”

Slow, steady footsteps matched hers. The room was large enough for both sides to keep their distance.

”And THAT - ” he pointed back at Nima Tann, ” – is my gift to you. An example how feeble, weak and empty your Jedi religion is. You filled her head with lies and all it took was a little push to undo everything you did before for her to become your greatest failure.”

His heart thumped inside his chest, the adrenaline pumping around his body as he started back the other way, eyes locked on Coci as he headed back towards Nima.

And there it was finally, the admission that standing before them was not Connor Harrison.

"This is what you serve Nima? now do you understand this is not Knight Harrison", she shot over her shoulder. "Shall we get the pleasantries over with? You know it would be nice to know to whom I speak... Girl!", the sense of the woman inside him now come to the front.

"If the Jedi are as weak as you say, then why do you bother trying to destroy them? it would seem to me to be a fool errand .. are you a fool?. Oh I think so, you chose to take him that shows me you don't consider Jedi weak at all, but a strong and powerful vessel for you to use. But it still makes me ponder why him when you could have someone more powerful".

She grinned at him, a smirk in fact to goad him further.

With a sly turn of the head back towards Coci, Connor closed one eye gently; mocking her faux attempt at being great Jedi detective. A small smile curled on his lips, but his eyes flashed suddenly yellow – the true colour of the Taung.

”This shell has allowed me to poison the minds of your fellow Jedi and it is not just strength that I needed – it was trust, and this face gave it to me from your weakest slaves. My name is Kot, Chieftain of the Mando’a and I serve no Force!”

Connor – Kot – reached down and took the lightsaber hilt her right hand and held both hands up, stepping backwards to Nima, eyes on Coci.

”I am but one warrior to bring about the wrath of Kad Ha’rangir and the Silver Jedi will be the instigators of this war, as you each fall one at a time, before me. And young Nima Tann is a delicious creature – if you want her, you’ll have to kill her. Because she is MINE.”

She pointed a finger over towards Coci, smirking.

”But you. YOU – Coci Sinopi – yes. You will be next. You will experience pain like no other and then you will be mine to do as I wish to slay your brothers and sister. You pathetic, deluded girl.”

Nima Tann

Master of Her Own Destiny
Humanity should be wiped out? What are you talking about, Knight Harrison? she thought, as she sensed that Knight Harrison's aura was changing. The light once she saw in his eyes were changing into a fire that showed his hate. And his mouth, which always said good things to her, giving her confidence, strength was now saying she was a failure. What was happening, she didn't understand. She waited as he continued to speak with Master Sinopi. She was talking to him, but she referred him as a she. She lost the control of the events that was happening, but she had to stay strong. It could be a distraction, a psychological war to weaken the physical strength, as he did before. So she tried to stay silent, until one sentence that he said. She is mine...

"What... what are you talking about Knight Harrison? Destroying humans? What is Master Sinopi talking about? Who is Kot? I don't understand. You have changed... Is she playing a trick on you?" She walked towards him, trying to look tough, but couldn't conceal her confusement. "We... we had a mission, right? We were supposed to save the galaxy, and they were our enemies. Don't let her get into your head. I know you aren't a bad person." As she was slowly getting near to him, she felt that his aura started to change, very dark, full of hate. "Are... are you okay?" she asked, she was worried. Then she touched his shoulder, looking at Master Sinopi, with such anger and hate, her anger could be read from her voice, such sharp and shaky. "What have you done to 'him'? To Knight Harrison?"

"Nima, this... thing has never truly been Connor other than in appearance. The hammers we found across the moons of Shri-Tal - they are imbued with the warrior spirits of the Taung species. It possessed Connor and stole his body for its own purposes. It has played you for a fool, all along!" He would do his best to sway her loyalty to him, and this revelation had made a chink in her armour. He stepped closer, carrying himself in a non-hostile manner.

"Let her go, spirit! Her will does not belong to you - she never belonged to you!" Thurion's eyes darted between the two. "Nima, you should be free to make your own choices - not follow some zealous, extinct being who wishes nothing but watch the world burn for crimes committed millennia ago. Come home with us to Voss. No harm will come to you, I swear it!" He looked to Coci, making sure she would be ready for anything depending on what happens next.

She disregarded all this taunting and just watched him move as she continued to do the same. Her eyes flicked around the room looking for the best position to enact her plan. Yes .. that will do nicely she thought as she moved closer to the window.

"You serve no Force?, ah that is why you fear us and want us, the big brave warrior woman that you are Kot, go on tell her, tell Nima exactly what you truly are. That you need her, using her because you don't have the ability to do it yourself. Nima has the upper hand does she not. But still you want for the lesser. You want me? then lets stop this idol chatter and come and get me!".

Coci moved into ready stance as if she would soon ignite her saber which she has not intention of doing.

Nima Tann

Master of Her Own Destiny
"Master Heavenshield. I already made my choice. I have chosen 'him'. He is Knight Harrison, what are you all talking about? What Taung?" she was in denial, didn't want to hear anything more. Nima was very confused by his words, who did she trust? What was going on? Everything got complicated again. Still holding his shoulder, she continued to talk, her voice started to shake again. "He... he told me everything you said was a lie. And what I have seen... I trusted him. I trusted his every word. He... he even kissed me, saying that he loves me. I... I trusted him. I have seen the sincerity in his eyes. No... no spirit can lie like that. You are doing something to him! You are telling me lies again..." she stopped, her eyes getting teary.

What if everything was a lie, what would she do if she learned that. No... it had to be true. It had to be.... She looked at his eyes, the icy blue was replaced by a scary yellow, but she still had hope that Knight Harrison was there. "Right Knight Harrison? You... care for me right? Tell them the truth. Don't let them get into your head. You are Knight Harrison." What was she hoping? Knight Harrison was going slowly, his aura was changing into something very powerful, very dark. Were emotions really weaknesses? She waited his answer, hoping that what she was thinking right now, wasn't true.

Did Jedi ever shut up with their questioning, reasoning and logic? Obviously not these three.

Thurion was evidently hanging back, but he was posing no immediate threat at present, his words and resolve focused on the Padawan. Coci started to slow and ready herself in defence - sensing danger? As for Nima, she was latched onto Connor and questioning, questioning, questioning. There was nothing the Taung despised more, and since it came from the mouth of one he was trapped with, Kot soon found the idea of a weak Padawan was totally sickening when he could have something as strong as a Master.

Turning slowly to Nima, Connor took her hand from his shoulder, face calm and eyes full of Taung fire, and holding onro her, her brought up his right hand and violently backhanded her twice across the face in a slow, hard double attack, not letting her fall in his grip. He yanked her closer to his face.

"I am Kot, and you, Jedi, are NOTHING."

Then he brought up his right fist and slammed it into her stomach, hearing the wonderful crack of bone and an sickening cry from her as he let Nima collapse to the floor.

"You are too weak to serve the Silver Jedi, who never wanted you anyway, and I think you are pathetic. Weak, frail and you make me sick. There is no place for weakness by MY side!

Leaning forward, Connor savagely spat down at her and brought his boot hard into her chest.

"Love? No one would love THAT! I cannot wait to tear that pathetic head from your disgusting body and show the galaxy just what WEAKNESS looks like! You are nothing to the Taung, Nima Tann. You deserve to die."

Then, in an instant, he pulled the lightsaber hilt from his belt and thumbed it into life with a satisfying snap-hiss of blue energy. He began walking with dangerous intent to Coci.

"I hope you have made your peace."

Lunging forward a few steps, Connor swung the blade with one hand in a wild, brutal assault to take her head.

Her force awareness along with his aggressive move toward her told Coci he is about to strike. Finally the conflict would begin. The purple blade ignited, and with a pivot of her feet, she turned her body to meet his blade square on, her blade coming up to block vertically.

"You will have to do better then that, Kot", she said as she pushed his blade away and turn out to ready stance once more. Coci has not intention of attacking, she will defend until he tires. Her legs arms and body, fueled with the power of the lightside.

She began to circle the room once more, each foot placement deliberate .. her eyes never leaving his and she pushed the force out to him, aware of him in the space. Connor Harrison's body is familiar to her, having trained him but she is not fighting Connor but rather an unknown entity and therefore unpredictable.

"Such wide abandon in your skills, no control no finesse ... the style of a savage", she contined her goading. "You are right of course, if you did have possession of ... a Master say, what power you would wield .. but alas, you choose poorly".

Kot couldn't listen for the first wild minutes of the attack on a Jedi Master - the hate towards humanity was at boiling point, and releasing the rage and bloodlust to one who talked so strongly clouded the mind of the Taung.

STRIKE, STRIKE, KILL, KILL!

Locking blades with Coci, the two lights blurred into one flash of white, crackling in the air and sending a dangerous echo around the room that simply sounded like conflict. The energy spat and fizzed as the blades, and eyes, locked, good against evil, hope versus despair.

Coci pushed away, and Kot stalked backwards, holding the blue blade and moving around to the right, past a bank of monitors. The body of Connor was rigid, ghost-like, but his face was stern and his muscles throbbed with adrenalin, and the yellow eyes were demonic as they looked past Coci's violet blade to her dark eyes, trying to work out the Master.

With Thurion behind him, and Nima on the floor before the windows, Kot moved around the bank of monitors and now stood before the Silver Jedi. With the Force under control in Connor's body, it would be easy to launch another attack that could distract and confuse Coci, but Kot wanted her head - she wanted ALL their heads, and today was the start of the war that should have ended years ago.

"Today shall be the day I walk over your cold corpses, and your Order will fall like you will do before me."

Making a steady move towards her, blade held outwards, Kot suddenly broke into a leap, jumping off the terminal with her right leg and using it as leverage to swing a violent swipe down to Coci, dangerously close to another bank of terminals beside her.

Witnessing the sudden assault on Nima by the possessed Connor made his blood boil something fierce, but once it was over and he lunged at Coci Thurion was able to put his anger aside in order to rush forward and help the poor deluded girl. Perhaps the beating she'd just been given now made her see the situation in a new light; this fiend was not Connor, and all the promises made to her were hollow.

Kneeling down beside her, Thurion began scanning for wounds. Her chest and abdomen were both severely injured and required medical attention. With Coci keeping Connor at bay, hopefully, he would be able to carry the padawan out of harms way and see to her diminishing health. He scooped her off the floor carefully so as to not cause more harm than good, and rushed off to a safe area by the staircase leading back down to the entrance. Connor wouldn't be able to get to her unless he first got through both him and Coci, both of which were masters of the arts of the lightsaber. The Taung warrior spirit would not be as efficent with such a weapon, but would rather make up for it with sheer brutality and raw strength.

"It's alright, Padawan. It'll be alright. You're safe now", he soothed her, both through his words and by calming her spirit through the Force.

Her complete focus is on Kot now. However, after the beating she gave Nima, Thurion took charge and moved the girl to a safer location. Coci could sense her pain of mind and body, but that would have to wait for now, the Silver Jedi will take care of her with both issues of health.

The Taung warrior moved with purpose around the room. The overwhelming hatred of all in the room palpable, sickening to the senses, and precisely what the Shadows of the Order strive to remove from the Galaxy. But Coci is not here to destroy Connor but the Taung and so she continued with her plan.

"Your ability with the saber is ... average at best, Knight Harrison is better then you with his skills I can see why you wish to keep him, ironic don't you think? using the training and skills far advanced then your own?". She moved herself into a position that would give her the advantage, if Kot sprang. The force remained within her limbs giving strength.

"Oh just image what you could have been like had you possessed a Master", she signed mockingly. "But you use your sheer brutality ... good enough for a some", she was prepared for the next strike which she sensed would come immediately.

As Kot leaped off the terminal blade swinging down toward her, Coci dropped into a crouching position. This left Kot open and she could have removed his legs, but what surprised her was the speed and the last of the strikes cut across her back, enough to cut her suit and burn her skin below. Coci gritted her teeth to keep in the scream from the burning pain. She pushed the force through her to removed it and stood up.

It was time.

Summoning the force to her legs, she ran for him using Force Speed. Forgive me Thurion, she said to him through the force to his mind. I love you. As the words ended, Coci rushed at Connor before he could settle and grabbed him and with the strength of the force, she leaped through the cracked window. Connor and Coci plummeting to the rocky valley below. She struggled with him, trying to remove his saber from his grip.

"Now Kot you have two choices, you either leave Connor and enter me, or we all go to your deaths", she demanded, and there would be no doubt in her words that she meant every single one of them.

Snarling in delight at the sizzling flesh that bared from the strike to Coci, Kot failed to see Thurion move in for Nima – the prize he wanted to claim taken away by the mighty protector of the Silver Jedi.

”I will have you in good time Master Sinopi – don’t think you can escape me! You are wounded, you are weakened!”

Landing firmly, Kot rolled back over the monitors to avoid a counter strike and was back before the large cracked window. But not being one with the Force, she failed to feel Coci’s surge of anger and drawing on the energy around them. Kot save Coci move with fire in her eyes but before she could act, the impact of the Jedi sent Connor’s body flying backwards with her and through the cracked window.

It smashed around them, spewing glass shards around them falling to the canyon floor. The drop was fatal and the moon rocketed towards them, both gripped to each other, and in the instant Coci started to fight, Kot let go of the saber hilt, deactivated once she was battered through the window.

Moments to go before impact – there was only one way out for the Taung.

”Nima will die, Connor will die and now YOU will die!”

Pulling Coci’s head forward by her hair, Kot first violently head-butted her as hard as she could with the disorientating fall, and then met her lips with Connor's in a kiss that was anything but intimate.

The final push from the Taung now was to let the Knight die and take the body of the Master. As their lips met, in a sickening convulsion, Connor’s body went limp as Kot fuelled the Force energy from Coci in their embrace to fill as much of her soul and mind with her dark Taung spirit as possible.

The air rushed around their broken bodies as the ground loomed below seconds from their deaths.

Nima Tann

Master of Her Own Destiny
You are nothing... Everyone hates you... You deserve to die... The words she heard, the words she feared to hear. Pain... real pain. Not just because of the physical beating that she took, not because of broken bones, but hearing those terrible words from the man that she decided to trust, and maybe love minutes ago. As she was still lying on the ground, tears dropping from her face, mixing with his spit. She was angry with herself, how stupid she was. Why couldn't she see his -or her- true face. How weak she was to trust someone without any thoughts. Why couldn't she just leave him in that cell? As the thoughts continue to invade her brain, she just wanted to return to 5 minutes ago, all that kissing, all the love words... They were too far to her right now. Silver Jedi... it was all their fault.. They did this... They made him show his real face. She felt her strength was fading away, she was feeling empty, as if all her beliefs was changing again.

Pathetic... weak... disgusting. With the each word she remembered, she felt like she was being cut to pieces by lots of lightsabers. With every word, she felt like she was dying. Tears continued to drop, each drop was taking away her remaining strength. She wanted to stand up, every part of her was in pain, especially her stomach. She was still feeling his punch. Then, she saw Master Heavenshield, coming towards her. As she was being carried by him to the upstairs, she looked at her surroundings, Knight Harrison was running towards to Master Sinopi, with such anger and hate. She just wanted to throw her lightsaber to him, kill him from behind. But she had neither the strength nor heart to do it. As she continued to clean herself “Don’t trust anyone. You are on your own now.” she whispered slowly, only she could hear her voice. She was betrayed, twice. Thinking both Order and Knight Harrison used her as a tool, they were all the same. She felt her anger was growing inside.

They were finally upstairs, away from the fight. As he dropped her near to one of the glasses, she managed to sit, holding her abdomen and she looked at Master Heavenshield’s eyes with teary, cold gaze, trying to tell she was not happy being carried away. “Everything… is NOT going to be okay, Master Heavenshield. I know it. And carrying me away… will not make me safe. I am already dead. He… already killed me.” She said, sobbing and coughing. She stopped for a moment, as she felt a great pain. “Everything was okay before you came. I was happy… I know it was a lie, don’t tell me that… But I would live gladly in that lie. You came to “save the day” again, with all your might. But you know what… you’ve ruined mine. You… you couldn’t save me.” Her coughs were painful, with every cough she felt like dying. “I…” she stopped, hearing the massive voice of the broken glass. She saw Master Sinopi and Knight Harrison were falling. “Oh no…” she said, trying to stand up. No matter how it was hard to do it, she managed, couldn’t understand how, maybe adrenaline and shock made her manage. She slowly turned to the glass to see them, holding her abdomen. “They… they fell down.” she managed to talk, shocked from the event.

She was wrong; she would be alright, in time. The soul needs as much mending as the body does, and both take their time to do so. She would receive proper medical attention back on Voss after they were done here, despite her reluctance to come with them. He'd managed to put some much needed bandage around her chest to do what he could for her shattered ribs, just before he too heard the smashing of glass and the sudden silence that soon followed. Looking up into Nima's face, he saw the terror in her eyes and promptly followed her gaze to the broken window.

"No...!" he gasped, getting up on his feet and rushing over to it, looking over the edge and down at the two figures falling blindly towards the hard ground beneath them. He then heard Coci's words within his mind, begging his forgiveness as she then forced the spirit inside of her. He could feel the dark aura take her, and all he wanted was to leap after them. But his mind focused, and his spirit composed itself as he instead reached out to them from the broken window.

His eyes closed shut as he summoned the Force to aid him in breaking their fall. He could feel himself grab onto Coci and Connor both, slowing down the speed at which they were falling until when they touched the ground they weighed no more than a feather, and the ground would feel like a soft bed rather than a brick wall. Once he was certain they'd landed safely, he returned to check up on Nima before picking her up once more and bring her downstairs to the entrance, hoping he would meet them there.

...holding onto the icy cliff side, Connor exhaled and shook his head. He was out of his depth. Why was he trying to prove he was more than just a Padawan for the Jedi Order? He wasn't anything great, just a young man with a big ego.

The wind howled around him and the voices of those fellow Jedi below him far on the icy planet's surface echoed in his head as they called for him to stop, to get down, to come back.

Connor couldn't just stop however, he couldn't just turn around; he'd passed the point of no return...

...fingers dug into the cold crevices and he used the Force to support him and ensure he saw the dangers ahead; where to put his boot, where not to grab, when to stop and let the snow die down...

...and then he was weightless, watching the cliff grow smaller. Connor was falling...

...he had blacked out by the time he hit the four outcrops of rock and ice, tumbling down each one which probably saved his life, but beat and bruised him.

His back broke the ice first and he was engulfed by cold waters of Rhen Var, passing out and giving himself blackness with nothing to help him, not even the Force as he couldn't feel it anymore...

Connor rolled down a small embankment on his back across the gravel and rocks, coming to a stop with Coci a few yards above him. Shards of glass surrounded them, and the dust swirled around as it settled from the two bodies that had impacted gently but forcefully on the ground.

All was quiet.
