STRENGTHS
- Cuts through a variety of substances with ease.
- Blade power adjustment knob allows non-lethal training use.
- Durinium-lining. Most weapon detectors mistake this lightsaber for a tool.
- Contact with Cortosis will short out the blade.
- Not Water Resistant. Submersion of the emitter matrix into water, even just 1 inch, will render the lightsaber inoperable until it can be repaired.
- Basic Lightsaber. Cannot be used to deflect slugthrower rounds or deflect paddle beam-based weapondry. Does not cut through amphistaff. Has no dual phase capability. This is as basic as a lightsaber gets.
This lightsaber was used by Boo Chiyo during the period he served the First Order. Inducted into the Knights of Ren through a Junior Imperial Academy program designed to identify Force-Sensitives, the weapon was originally a training device as the boy transitioned away from the orphan rescued from the Sith by Dr. Irajah Ven and was molded into the assassin known as Chiyo Ren. Even after the First Order had collapsed and the Pantoran had wound up adopted by the Dark Side cult known as the Primeval, he continued to carry the weapon with him. It was during this period that Boo used the weapon for the execution of several Jedi captives as part of the Ball at Bastion.
Despite its red blade and significance as a distinctly Sith-inspired weapon, he continued to carry the lightsaber even after defecting from the Primeval to the Order of the Silver Jedi, to include when he had aided the Galactic Alliance on Elrood, where it was damaged in battle and rendered inoperable.
The need for the lightsaber was largely supplanted by the Pantoran's ownership and employment of an amphistaff, though he did also construct a second lightsaber under the supervision of
Théodred Heavenshield
.The lightsaber was repaired sometime following the Omega Crisis and was kept among the Pantoran's -- now Sithspawn's -- artifacts and personal memorabilia retained aboard the Equinox.
