And so the Red Curtain continues to move, having now gained both Yalara and Effekt. The First Imperial Order
now turns its eyes toward Quintas, here laid FIS Kleve a research station dedicated to the study of the Black Hole (x).
Some of the First Order's finest had been sent here to develop a singularity drive,
a way to harness the black hole's power to the benefit of His Lordship the Supreme Leader....

  • Quantum Leap - Members of the First Order Military have been invited to tour the station, the singularity drive itself is still in the process of being built. Kleve's commander has requested a fresh set of boots as they have expanded to a set of asteroids...
  • Thirty Rock - Kleve has grown since it was last checked in on, and as such is in need for patrol units from the newly reformed Starfighter Command, and the First Imperial Navy herself. As the brass of the First Order learn that Kleve is doing just more than developing the singularity drive...
  • Bring Your Own Objective - Do your own thing around the Black Hole of Quintas, just try not to die, k?

"Nearly," Lieutenant Friehaas replied, "we'll need a few more engineers to complete the physical construction and another science team if we wish to properly test the device."

"Make it so," she says softly turning to her right leading the way down the long black tiled floor toward the turbolift. "What of the military installations?"

"Barracks are complete, we've sent a request for more stormtroopers, defensive capabilities are also under construction but we're behind schedule, some of our resources were diverted to completing another station near Yalara." Friehaas reported as he marched in time with Commander Cyone.

Cyone's lips thinned, "it would seem resources are becoming scarce, hopefully after today, Captain Nahiri can persuade command to allow us a few more provisions."

"For our sakes, let us hope we can do more than persuade him," Friehaas commented.

They'd reached the turbolift, and stepped inside, turning their backs to the wall they were afforded a brief view of the workstations in the command center of Kleve just before the doors closed. Taking them down to the hangar, doors opened to a busy line as an airlock bridge was extended out toward the Sarne. "She's an impressive vessel," Friehaas says softly, "would like to command one, one day."

"One day indeed," Cyone agreed, "for now we'll mind the rocks and the black hole." There was a little bit of a cheeky tone in her voice but it faded all the same, "is the Captain ready?" Cyone inquires of an enlisted serviceman who nods. Cyone motions for the doors to be opened as she and Friehaas stand ready to welcome Captain Nahiri to the Kleve.

Field Marshal Ludolf Vaas would be one of the few men from First Order High Command to survey the FIS Kleve. The vessel had largely been left to its own devices for quite some time now, the project itself being one of the more esoteric ones on the Supreme Leader's plate, and also classified to the highest degree. The Kleve was given the monumental task of developing a technology so secret that truthfully, even Ludolf himself didn't know what it was. For all he knew, the members of the Kleve could have been manufacturing womprat repellent this whole time.

But whatever it was, he was going to find out.

His first order of business, however, was to supply the Kleve's barracks with a fresh order of Stormtroopers. The men were not the best the First Order had to offer - that distinction belonged to the eponymous White Wolves - those men belonged on the front. However, they were still fully trained and capable Stormtroopers, if a little green, and they would hopefully gain valuable first-time experience here aboard the Kleve. As Ludolf's shuttle moved into the massive space station's dock, he got up from his seat and prepared to exit. Behind his shuttle was a transport that carried the retinue of Stormtroopers - a full regiment - to their destination.

When the landing ramp lowered from his shuttle, Vaas stepped out, clad in black, his long officer's cloak billowing behind him as he entered. He immediately made to survey his troops, who lined up in formation inside the hangar bay, before looking to see who he would be greeted by.

How was it she was just a few weeks graduated and already was sent off to yet another place, she wasn't complaining at all this just meant she had impressed someone so far...she hoped

So here she was so close to a black hole deploying off into a stations ducking area...where ties were unloaded and setting ready for deployment....all nice shiny and in perfect condition

She now sat doing pretty flight checks on her tie...she had been tasked with patrolling...she didn't know what you'd find out here...but if the higher ups thought so then the order would be carried out to the dot"

THE PLANET
H O T H
ANOAT SECTOR

The young Pantoran was sliding down the side of a steep slope.

Fresh powder flew out from underneath, as the ledge of the icy mountain suddenly fell out from underneath him.

Drifts of snow fell away as gravity took hold, a feeling of utter terror settling somewhere deep in the gut as the horizon spun wildly. Vertigo threatened to take hold, as the boy succumbed to free fall.

Tucking himself into a fetal position, he grabbed hold of the snowboard attached to his feet as he spun in a wild three-hundred-sixty degree maneuver. His lean body unfolded just as ground rushed up to greet him. Knees flexed, the boy bounced as the snowboard touched down - skipping across the snow covered terrain of the icy paradise. A wash of snow flew out from underneath the board, as the youth swayed from side to side as he once more built up speed.

The white-garbed, blue-skinned arctic native was a small dot of motion against the frozen landscape of the forsaken world. Hoth was an amazing paradise for a Pantoran, almost as remarkable as Rhen Var. Except, of course, that he couldn't go have hot cocoa with [member="Théodred Heavenshield"] afterward on Hoth. Though, perhaps sometime he should invite the young Heavenshield out to the First Order. After seeing how orderly that Varonat or Bespin had become, perhaps the Silver Sanctum Coalition would come to better appreciate the work of the Supreme Leader in making the galaxy great again.

A mild irritation caught his attention, though he wasn't fully aware of just what it was.

Pivoting slightly, the boy skidded along the long edge of the board. By the time he'd drifted to a halt, atop a high vantage point over icy valleys, the Pantoran youth had realized that it was the vibration of the slim, orange band he wore on his wrist. Pulling the sports glove from off his left hand, the orange colored wristlink was exposed, allowing the boy to tap the device and summon the message there.

"Good morning, Chiyo Ren."

That voice...

"-tt-" the boy uttered. It wasn't a conversation, it was just a recording.

"At approximately thirteen hundred hours, Dosuun standard time, Taungsday, First Lieutenant Mikael Garibaldi was apprehended aboard the research station Kleve on suspicion of attempting to pass plans for the singularity drive to the Resistance. While military court-martial is proceeding based on the evidence against Garibaldi, we believe that the real culprit remains at large. Your mission is to proceed toward Quintas and conduct your own investigation into this incident. The Supreme Commander believes this to be a purely internal military matter, as such your mission is not officially recognized. Should your true purpose be re..."

"...revealed, the Knights of Ren will disavow blah blah go kark yourself blah," the purple-haired boy echoed, mockingly, his head swaying from side to side as he repeated the words from memory. Same chit, different day.

"This message will self-destruct in..."

In a single, practice motion, the Pantoran hooked one finger under the orange-colored strap of the wristlink and snapped it off. The Corellia Digital product went flying a short distance away, as the boy started pulling his glove back on his hand. A small pop was heard a moment later, smoke rising and the smell of burning plastic lingering on the air where the wristlink had landed.

The popular model this year was the high-end HoloLink. But did he had a HoloLink? No. Why? Because every time he got an assignment from the Masters of Ren, his wristlink got fried.

This is why they couldn't have nice things.

The two Resurgent-class star destroyers were hoepfully enough for the stations security detail, at least temporarily. Carlyle Rausgeber hadn't initially minded this, until he heard that it was in fact a bloody black hole. Now, Carlyle had no experience with black holes first hand, no. But that hadn't stopped an irrational phobia of them from permiating. When the twin star destroyers, Vindicator and Pride of Avalonia arrived, he made sure they were well out of the way of the black hole.

"Kleve station, this is Captain Rausgeber. Your improved security detail has arrived." The captain dictated to the comms officer, "We await further orders from your station command, on positioning, and where you want us." Carlyle added, "This good?"

"Course it is sir." The comms technician said.

"Good, send it to them, let them know that help hass arrived." The Captain said, returning to his usual position of glaring out into space.

Cyone was half expecting Captain Nahiri to step out, but no, no it was the Field Marshal himself. Neither she nor Friehaas had time to look at each other, Cyone took charge and marched toward the proper distance awaiting the Field Marshal, "Field Marshal Vaas, you honor us." She began after making the customary salute, "welcome to Kleve, and thank you for the troops, we'll put them to good use." The station was now expanding so much that she was pretty sure the new troops would end up knowing more of the new annexed areas than she would, as Cyone was usually busy here in the command center. "This is my first officer, Lieutenant Johann Friehaas and he doubles for the lead science officer on Kleve as well."

"Field Marshal Vaas," Friehaas greeted with a customary salute, "would you like to get settled in first, or shall we begin the tour?"

Kleve's usual guards were posted along the corridors there to greet the Field Marshal, as Commander Cyone led him and Lieutenant Friehaas down toward the command center. "Awhile ago Kleve wasn't known to many, we were still generic research station four, but now," Friehaas says as the Commander enters her codes to get into the command center, where a holographic display of the singularity drive could be seen. "Now, we are Kleve."

"Kleve has been charged with developing a singularity drive, in short, a way to harness Quintas's power." Cyone tells the Field Marshal, "our project has required an expansion of staff, we're working on defenses now in case the Alliance gets any ideas about crossing Quintas."

Not exactly High Command, but he was also one of few noteworthy Officers within the First Order's Military. A former member of the One Sith's Order, who would've thought he would've risen so far, in an Imperial organization no less. If only his Father was alive to see it. There was a poodoo eating grin on his face as he stood in the shuttle heading for the Space Station. Dozens of Stormtroopers were being transported, all of them led by the Field Marshal, [member="Ludolf Vaas"].

The Sith Hybrid was on a different shuttle however, so by the time that his shuttle had landed with more of the Regiment sent to safeguard the Station, the High Colonel saw that the large force of Stormtroopers were already beginning to move into their unit blocks and his own company was disembarking to do the same. He stood at the top of the ramp as they flooded out, if a flood was uniform and appeared to be perfection itself. "Efficient," he said drily. A single word, one that he found himself saying plenty while he worked side by side with his subordinates.

Whatever the point of this Space Station was, A'sharad Graush was determined to figure out what it was for.

Probably a detention facility. Probably little worse than being jettisoned into a Black Hole.

Twisting his head to the side to see the Field Marshal being greeted, the High Colonel found himself merging into their group. Something about a tour and then entering the Command Centre.

Traditionally, Ishana was as far removed from places like the First Order as possible. Unfortunately, Ishana was in debt up to her eyeballs and most likely on the bounty list of a Hutt or two. So, she had turned to the First Order, it was better than working with the One Sith or rather the failing One Sith as it was lately. Having taken part in their failed campaign on some criminal planet named Bassadro. And she might've zipped past Alliance Space during their turn on Arrgaw and now she was here. The TIE Fighter was temporarily assigned to Kleve, or Quintas whatever you wanted to call it.

She was making her way to the flight line when she spotted a new face, whistling she called for the other woman's attention, "look a little green." She greets extending a hand toward her, "names Ishana, Lieutenant Ishana Pavanos, you just get stationed here?"

"Dangerous business is afoot, captain" Dunames' copilot told her.

"Danger: black hole detected!" Merrily warned.

"Why are we tasked with dumping stuff into a black hole?" the chief engineer asked Dunames.

"We have 7,000 tons of hazardous waste to dump into the black hole: it's the safest way to dispose of them"

"Why, captain?"

"Hazardous waste cannot escape a black hole"

Not exactly but how can matter escape a black hole is as a highly energetic photon, gamma rays most of the time, via Hawking radiation. But why did the First Order even commission Star Tours for dumping hazardous waste? Was it even allowed? They haven't dumped the material yet. And they were rather far from the system's black hole. So they could turn back at once if they needed it. The Tofolk of Dac was filled to the brim with all sort of hazardous waste: toxic chemical waste, radioactive waste, nuclear waste, to name what made up the bulk of the waste onboard the ship. And, for the transportation of such things away from Druckenwell, she had to make sure the regulations were respected. Dunames just dumped the AT-AT barge she used to go sign the contract with the Pantheon for the shooting of the Gospel and Testaments of Ardgal Raxis and principal photography has begun on that planet before.

She huffed as she worked through the engine as she nodded satisfied at her work, most would see it odd but ever since that accident during her Academy days it became a ritual to always check her tie and make sure it was flight ready

She then perked up as she heard a whistleand turned to the woman as she got a confused look....lookimg a little green? She wasn't quite familiar with military lingo however she gave a kind smile and shook her hand"names Sara Lee Jones pilot officer Sara Lee Jones, and yes maam they had me stationed here even thought I'm in the 100th not a complaint though trust me"she said as she relaxed a little "I'll assume your a pilot as well will I be under your command?

FIRST ORDER IMPERIAL RESEARCH STATION
K L E V E
THE BLACK HOLE OF QUINTAS

The foreboding shape of the Sith Infiltrator settled onto the hangar deck.

A fine mist formed as various hydraulic systems were relaxed, releasing clouds of vapor as the pressures were freed. Squirming uncomfortable from within the drab uniform that she wore, the human woman stood at the nose of the black transport in nervous anticipation of what was coming.

High Command had only notified them twenty minutes ago that the Knights of Ren had dispatched an envoy to the station.

There was a loud hissing sound, a mechanical clang, followed by a dull whine as the loading ramp dropped out from underneath the nose of the Star Courier. As the ramp descended down to the deck, a shadow seemed to detach itself from out of the wash of red lightning that dominated the interior of the ship. Heavy black robes masked the shape of the small being. A glasteel face plate reflecting the lightning as it betrayed no indication of the species contained within. It was a foreboding presence. An all black figure, masked behind mirrored glass.

Swallowing nervously, the woman forced a smile as she greeted the figure. "Chiyo... Ren?"

The diminutive figure passed by her as though she hadn't even been standing there.

Clearing her throat, the young officer spun on her heel and quickened a pace to catch up with the small, cowled figure. "This is unexpected. We didn't think..."

"Your expectations are not my concern, Leftenant."

That was enough to silence the woman.

Pausing his step, the young Knight of Ren turned his head. The woman's pale face was reflected in the glass as the eerily mechanical voice spoke again. "This is a research station, is it not?"

Drawing herself up to military attention, the woman uttered an autonomous response. "It is, sir, yes."

That answer seemed to satisfy him. Her own reflection stared back at her, her own mirror seeming to piece down into her soul for a moment, before the helmet faced away and the black robed figure merely proceeded onward, seemingly already aware of where he was going.

Shuddering uncomfortably, the woman once again fell into step alongside the smaller figure. She really had no interest in continuing the conversation, except her superiors insisted that she provide them answers about why the Knight of Ren was here. "May..." the woman began, her voice hesitating a moment before she tried again. "May I inquire as to the nature of your research?"

"Black holes are avoided by those individuals able to manipulate the Force," the figure answered, without breaking stride. The response seemed to sail over the woman's head, as she seemed to want to ask a question regarding what he'd just said. Before she could muster the courage, he spoke again. "I am here to reflect upon how the Force interacts with the Black Hole."

"I..." the woman began, pausing as the small figure stopped before a doorway. She started to follow him in, when the door was shut in her face.

"...see."

Her superiors were not going to like this.

It wasn't long before Vaas was greeted by Commander Cyone and her assistant, Lieutenant Freihaas. He had never encountered either before during his time in High Command, though that was somewhat to be expected since Cyone belonged to the Navy. Besides, the Kleve space station was about as secretive and isolated as they come; very few people who work here were known by outsiders, as they practically lived aboard the station. The Field Marshal wasn't sure what to expect when he ran into the commanding staff here, but so far they seemed competent enough.

"Hail Sieger," Ludolf responded as Cyone greeted him, and the two saluted in the First Order fashion. Then, Vaas turned to her assistant. "Lieutenant Freihaas. Hail Sieger."

The Field Marshal's boots clicked as he extended his arm in the air, and then he began walking with Cyone. "You will have at your disposal freshly trained Stormtroopers of regiment strength. I have no need to settle myself, shall we dive in?"

As he began walking with the two other officers, Vaas surveyed his surroundings, taking in everything from the lighting in the hangar bay to the piping in the walls. The black hole was not visible from any windows - yet. "Tell me about this... singularity drive, Commander Cyone. What exactly is the purpose of such a device?"

FIRST ORDER IMPERIAL RESEARCH STATION

THE BLACK HOLE OF QUINTAS

There was a guard posted outside of Lieutenant Garibaldi's stateroom.

A sound. A... presence?

It was maddening. Tangible, yet not. Like a spot in the peripheral vision. Was it real? or was it merely a trick of light?

Distracted, the guard turned his head. As he did, a shadow passed down the corridor, as though someone had turned the corner just as the guard had looked his way. The stormtrooper bristled, straightening up in his armor. "FA-427, confirm this section is secure," the guard remarked, speaking into the comlink.

"Affirmative, GK-898."

The stormtrooper's finger tightened on the trigger guard of the blaster carbine he carried at the ready. An involuntary shudder worked its way through his body, as though he'd become unnerved.

"Anything to report?"

The sound of the stormtrooper's own breathing echoed in his ears. "Negative," the man remarked finally.

Behind him, the door to Mikael Garibaldi's quarters was quietly closing shut, without the stormtrooper ever being aware that it had opened at all.

Captain Rausgeber had arrived with the FIV Pride of Avalonia, and the FIV Vindicator both of them had been Resurgent-classes. When Commander Cyone had put in for extra detail, she wasn't sure what she'd get. She was used to grabbing new officers and breaking them in through the whole - if you utter a word of this you'll be stripped of your duty - kinda thing. "Tower Kleve-Four to Pride of Avalonia, please move away from the station's array, thank you." It wasn't that they were on top of it, but tower-four didn't want the Avalonia to get well - black-holed the moment engineers flipped the singularity drive on.

Speaking of - Commander Cyone and Lieutenant Friehaas had been tasked with leading the visitors; Field Marshal [member="Ludolf Vaas"] and High Colonel [member="Asharad Graush"] were among the visiting officer's numbers. Vaas informed her that he would be quite alright getting straight down to business, "of course Field Marshal," she led him and his entourage through the main command center, "the singularity drive that we're buliding will be used to harness the energy of the black hole, when the station had been first established under the Supreme Commander's governance we had completed construction of a scale model of the engine housing itself." Taking a deep breath she exhaled and went on, "our primary concern is to contain or lessen destabilization of the singularity."

Cyone gestured for Friehaas to bring about the simulations on holoprojector, "when [member="Sasha Santhe"] and then Captain [member="Evangeline Ovmar"], were aboard Kleve they discussed several options, including repulsor fields - which was a suggestion from Santhe herself, but as it was then as it is now, we're not so much concerned with containing the singularity - that I believe we are now more than well equipped our main concern is again, destabilization."

"If the singularity were to destabilize, we're talking catastrophic consequences Field Marshal, High Colonel," Commander Cyone gestured toward the holoprojector which showed just how far spread the destruction would cause. "when the then Captain Ovmar had been here, our scientists were hitting a wall, as our traditional methods of testing were - well, they weren't going anywhere to be quite frank."

She looked to Friehaas and nodded to him, "Field Marshal, High Colonel why don't you two come with me, and you can see exactly what I'm talking about when I talk about this housed engine, trust me - it'll put it more into perspective."

The Sith Hybrid knew almost nothing about the subject at hand.

His training had never covered things like Black Holes. One didn't need to be taught to 'avoid black holes at all costs.' But here they were, on a Space Station, with a Black Hole in close proximity. What the Comamnder Cyone did share with them however was that the Black Hole destabilizing was dangerous - to them all.

Why am I here again?

He opened his mouth to sigh, but instead just closed his mouth, playing it off as about to speak but thinking otherwise.

Turning his head to the holoprojector, he supposed that the range of destruction, or rather, lack thereof was significant.

"Say this singularity program takes off," he started as soon as was possible when it'd be considered 'polite' to speak up. "In the midst of a battle, a ship carrying the singularity drive is damaged. Will a Black Hole be created and suck everything within its vicinity?" That... Wouldn't bode well, especially if he was directly involved in that battle. But then again he didn't understand all the specifics, or he simply wasn't listening. What he could understand however was a Black Hole didn't discriminate on who it killed.

Force knew how many instances were involved with hyperdrive engines being damaged and some unimagineable outcome occurring. The flight of the Harbinger being one of quite a few.

"Eh," Ishana waved her hand, "not really, I'm just here on my way to the Concordia, Command needed a few more butts here while they do whatever it is they do on Kleve." The pilot remarked. Shaking her head a little the former One Sith officer relaxed her shoulders and told the young pilot before her, "easy tiger, plenty of time to figure out who your boss is, but for now, we'll say yes. I am a squad leader, although if you're on my squad for my stint here is another question."

"C'mon let's get you settled in," she motioned with her hand for the young one to follow her, "said your name was Jones? Well Jones, there are two things you need to remember about Kleve, one we're a small station, two, we're by a black hole, and black holes usually spell death. So while you're here, we'll probably go through some fancy training, but I won't be giving it, Captain Singh will most likely be giving that little lesson."

CT-47B would look to his right, staring out the window into the dark reaches of space. At the darkest patch of nothingness where even the light from the stars is devoured.

A black hole

We are stationed at a Black Hole

And we cannot even see it

Spaghettification. That is what they call it when you get too close to a black hole, when light and time slow down so much that everyone you've ever known outside it has already lived their entire lives and their children are retiring to a teaching role at an officers academy, while the parts of you closest to its centre orbit slower than the bits of you furthest out, to everyone else you'd look like you were being stretched apart but to you...I'd ask one of the scientists on board, but I'm not sure I'd like the answer. My armour can keep me alive and concious for twenty minutes in the vacuum of space, longer if I breathe in deeply before I'm exposed, its not long but its enough time to board a ship through the airlock if you're desperate. Twenty minutes of time slowed to a trickle as you're pulled apart. I don't even know if you'd feel it, or if you'd suffer the most drawn out death in the history of the galaxy.

CT47-B would shudder at his post, glancing around in case anyone noticed his brief lapse in concentration.

If the torture droids don't work on the next prisoner, I'll suggest the threat of launching them inside the black hole with a winch to see what happens after a week. Might set my mind at ease. Might get me noticed.

The Supreme Commander's governance, Ludolf thought silently to himself, echoing Commander Cyone's words in his head. It seemed that Supreme Commander Kalast had kept his own secrets, even from him. Despite being a founding member of the First Order, a former General and now Field Marshal, there were still a certain few classified areas that Ludolf himself didn't even know of.

Instead, Vaas had been out winning all the battles.

Standing next to [member="Asharad Graush"], Vaas listened intently as Commander Cyone generally explained the singularity drive. He knew that black holes were inherently dangerous to meddle with, as not even space-time itself was completely understood with regard to them. The First Order was therefore being quite ambitious in trying to harness one for its power. Ludolf knew that destabilizing a black hole's singularity - whatever that meant, exactly - would likely mean the deaths of everyone on board this station. He had many questions of his own, first and foremost to what purpose this energy "harnessed" from the black hole would be used. But Ludolf remained silent, allowing Graush to ask his question first, before he would chime in.

“Thank you. That’ll be all.”

Dismissing the ghostly blue holographic projection of Darth Zash and letting it disappear back into its pyramid-shaped shell, Darth Veles slipped into the passive state of meditation, mind delving into itself to sort out all the new information and secrets regarding the Dark Side he had learned from the long-dead teacher. A very interesting figure, this Darth Zash, full of secrets and rituals old as Sith themselves. Absorbing all what she had to tell was impossible – not even in hundreds lessons stood a chance against the sheer volume of information the holocron had to tell. After all, the device contained an entire library, Zash’s private collection and her own commentaries.

Two fire-coloured orbs fluttered open and stared into nothing. The black hole remained silent, a titan to be controlled and used, looking right back into the amphibian’s bulbous eyes through the station’s view port. If only he knew how to utilize this sort of power – and the possibility of immortality Zash had teased him with. Caution – Veles had to remind himself to remain wary. Even though Zash’s corpse had long since rotted to dust, the gatekeeper still undoubtedly intended to test the holocron’s new owner, see if the Mon Cal deserved to know. Just how valuable was this dream-like technique, though? The female Darth’s death spoke against the power’s supposed effects. Even if he learned the power, there existed no safe way to prove it really worked.

Not without dying.

Veles sighed.

Perhaps an inspection was in order. The Darth desired to take a peek into the First Order’s newest scientific achievements regarding the black hole; he needed to get rid of the questions about immortality worming through his mind.
