Janara III
As time marches on, so too does progress. Millions of beings slave away at menial tasks, all part of some larger machine. All in the name of progress. Some seek to make a name for themselves. Some seek to simply get by. But most are content to slave away at their tasks, living out their lives in relative peace. But not all have the fortitude to continue on, day after day. And so, some have gathered together, pooling resources to create escapes. To forget the mundanity of life, and escape the stresses of work. Today, on Janara III, one such facility is celebrating its grand opening. A resort catering to the everyman, seeking a momentary escape for the week. A place of laughter and cheer, amusements and entertainments. And tonight is a grand show, for Janara III has entered the fold of the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Beings from all over the world, as well as the Confederacy, flock to the Janara Resort for a day of fun and festivities. The hotels are open. The rides are running. All you have to do is relax, and enjoy your time.


Objective One:

The resort has a number of attractions, being laid out as a large park, featuring a number of thrill rides, Holographic Experiences, Shops, Diners, and Entertainment halls. The largest of these halls has been dedicated to a galaxy-renowned acrobatic troupe, performing for the benefit of both Janara III and the Confederacy. If you can endure the inevitable speeches and commemorations, it will be a show well worth watching.


Objective Two:

Hidden about the park are a number of crests, symbols of the Confederacy, and reminders of the peace that Janara III will know under her wing. These signs can be quite obvious, if one knows where to look, yet they can also be subtle, requiring a keen eye and critical mind to locate. The individual (plus a guest of their choosing) who can document the most of these by the end of the night will win a prize: One week all expenses paid stay at the resort. Happy Hunting!


Objective Three:

The resort is massive, and there is far more to do than just shows and hunts. Perhaps you wish to have a quiet meal in one of the diners? Or perhaps you just wish to ride the rides? Or just stroll around the park and admire the festive decorations. Whatever your heart desires, you can do. Just...don’t test the Security guard’s patience.

Life was good, business was booming and the eriadu system was getting gradually closer to completing its first introduction to a system wide defense force which would in turn make trade and travel much easier and safer in the coming years. It was for these reasons and those alone that the Viceroy of Eriadu; Credius Nargath, could finally let out a sigh of relief and find himself in a healthy, dare we say happy disposition for the first time in quite a while.

Though usually not a fan of the tedious and frankly rather boring pleasantries necessary for the advancement of one's own political agenda, with his mood lightened and the burden on his shoulders severely reduced, the man actually had a good feeling on travelling to this newest addition to the grand assembly of systems within the confederacy. With the knowledge that there would be a specially timed and elaborate performance of highly gifted acrobats to entertain both the locals and the visiting members of the confederacy of independent systems, Credius could not allow himself to miss this opportunity. After all, while he detested the boring mingling with bloated politicians and misguided fools of bureaucracy, he did enjoy the coruscantian opera and the mon cala waterdancers in particular. It was thus no surprise that he hoped to enjoy this performance too.

"You all go find something to do, keep the comm line open in case of an emergency," The Viceroy casually dismissed his security detail, granting them some free time while he'd be enjoying the performance which had been scheduled after the lithany of speeches and praises that would be sung in honor for the union between this system and the confederacy. Credius just hoped it wouldn't be too much time, but reckoned that given the amount of time, he'd be able to get himself a drink and secure himself some good seats, if not just simply the best while the speeches continued. Which meant waiting in line at the register and hurrying along to the bar to get everything he wanted in the correct order.

There was a certain excitement that seemed to snap and crackle in the air around them, an electric spark that found its way into the hearts and eyes of the crowd surrounding the young woman. You didn’t need the force to see that, to feel the excitement in the air, it was obvious in the buzz of voices, in the excited fingers pointing at the various exhibits, the shows and booths, attractions that spread out in a vast sea as far as the eye could see.

There was one tent that the crowd wove towards like a living snake, that seemed to draw the most attention, the most numbers. It was perhaps inevitable that the white-haired woman would find herself borne along with the crowd, carried into the tent, into the show that, if she was honest, was the main reason she had shown up to the fair in the first place.

It was, different, for her to be able to show up and just blend in with the crowd, not standing out, not being forced to step outside of the anonymity of the masses. Today though, today she was just one more face in the crowd, even her white hair wasn’t that unusual. This was a resort, this was a party, purple and blue, pink and green, all manners of coloured strands decorated the scalps off the crowd that thronged around her. All manners of vestments and accessories too, although…a glance, a stop and double-take before Lunara ended up shaking her head.

All it took was a small touch of the force to part the crowd around her, allowing the woman to step through, resting her elbows on the bar as she gestured to the bartender before letting her blue-eyed gaze fall on the man who had caught her attention, tipping the wineglass that was placed in her hand at him.

“See, this is perhaps the last place I ever thought I’d see you. Could it be true that you actually have a life outside of work and political parties? Colour me amazed, I wouldn’t have thought it was possible.”

From what the King of Beggars could hear, Janara had been through its fair share of hardship.

In fact, the last nation to descend upon its sovereignty had been the First Order years ago. And they had brought a literal Armada to the world's doorstep. Conversely, these Confederates? They brought lights. Laughter. And the smell of excessively fried foods. Though a grown man, Yusha couldn't help but feel a giddy sense of excitement bubbling up inside his stomach. Partially because he had never been to such an event. But more so? Because of the coin. While he had never attended a gala or festival before, he knew that excited crowds were lazy. Their attentions being plastered upon the main events meant they weren't paying attention to their wallets.

Already he had swiped two wallets whilst bumping through the crowd. Nothing of note was contained in either - a couple credits here, a credit chit there. He pilfered the cash and passed the wallets off to droids passing by, playing the part of "I found these! Here's my good deed for the day!" Amateurs. With a few ill-gotten gains fresh in his pockets, Yusha wandered closer to one of the sharper smells. Oil. Heat. Dough. Sugar. He could see children walking away from the stall with powdered sugar all over their faces and noses. Couples wandered with plates shared between them, making a mess with every step.

Whatever it was, it warranted looking into. So the young man stepped in line. As he waited his chance to arrive at the counter, those before him betrayed the name of the confection with their chatter. Funnel cake it was called.

Not yet had he made his order at the bar, when all of a sudden the viceroy of Eriadu could hear a familiar voice right next to him. Turning his head sideways, what he found was a young woman with fair, radiant white hair, which contrastedlightly with his own silver hair. He had meet this young vixen before, at a party no less, one of the worst places to find the Marquis, certainly in regards to his mood during such tedious and wholly unnecessary gatherings, so ofcourse the young child's comment on finding someone of his known disposition towards the gatherings within socialite circles was not founded on bias or assumption.

With a faint smile, the older man let out a gentle, soft chuckle. He was without question in a good and relaxed mood, hopeful for the entertaintment which had been promised to those attending the festivities. He had seen the many booths and stands along the way and though some were without question to his liking and taste, there was no doubt where his focus lay, as he was an avid enjoyer of fine arts and he did look at such performances as part of the wider spectrum of art, performance art was the name of the game after all.

"Give me a glass of the strongest Liquor you got...and whatever this young lady orders may be put on my tab," Leaning a bit on the bar, Credius showed his interest in Lunara Azure 's presence with an almost unexpected broad smile. "You most certainly caught me in a more content and agreeable disposition this time, my dear."

Being handed over a glass with almost neon-colored purple liquor, the viceroy took a step back, yet remained at the bar for as long as this young woman had to wait for her own drink. "Why don't we continue this conversation while seated, I managed to procure myself some good seats and it would be a waste to forcefully halt this most welcome of meetings by parting to either side of this tent, don't you agree?"

Tyra hadn't believed that she would enjoy something like this ever again.

The echani had been to festivals before. A few times she'd gone as a girl, small and frightened, clinging to her mother's skirts and staring wide-eyed at the bustling crowds and enthusiastic merchants. Older... she'd been there again, as a slave. Forced to accompany her master, dressed in very little, tiptoeing obediently at his heel on pain of severe reprimand if she even cast a side eye to her surroundings. Suffice to say, it was not the kind of place the young woman had expected she would find herself.

Yet... here she was.

Not only that, but Tyra walked with ease, a sashay to her hips, her chin held high. Look at her, Tyra Fenn, the woman who'd once been a slave, walking through the busy throng of people without even batting an eye.

A smile tugged at the corners of her lips. Truly, anything was possible.

What should she try? The echani bit her lower lip, bright emerald eyes scanning the stalls around her. A myriad of delightful smells and sounds wafted through the air, tempting her in a dozen different directions. So long she'd been deprived of such things, protecting herself by never even entertaining the notion that she might one day get to try them. Now? Now she was almost bewildered... Until her thoughtful expression became a smirk.

Waiting in line, a silhouette the girl recognized. Her hand subconsciously moved to her chest, where something on a chain hung, hidden beneath her clothes. Her fingers touched the chain as she made her way towards the line, falling in behind the man.

"What are we in line for?" She asked, hopefully prompting the man to turn around. If he did, he'd be greeted with a warm smile.

Admittedly, the King of Beggars was outside of his usual realm of expertise. While casing a crowd and pilfering wallets was childsplay, the noise was far too abundant. It was difficult to hear himself think above the blare of carnival tunes, let alone the overlapping voices. No, he was far more accustomed to the quiet of night - where the thundering of his heart was the loudest sound in a room. While among silence, Yusha could hear the slightest sigh fall from the lips of his prey. He could discern the ruffling of sheets - determining if one was rolling over or rising in mere seconds. But here? Here he could barely think about more than the greasy confection he was about to enjoy.

And because of that, she was able to sneak up on him.

Her question was a simple one. Yet the fact that she was here caused a bold smirk to erupt upon the man's face. Turning, he regarded the woman with arms held wide open - an extravagant, if not cocky gesture. In truth, he had no room to be arrogant around this one, for she was the first in a long time to catch him in the act. Though he employed the finest personal cloak that his perfectly legitimate money could buy, she was able to spot him amongst the darkness. Not even the moonlight on his back had betrayed his position on the windowsill - and yet, she could "see" him clear as day. Yusha would never forget Tyra Fenn. If not for her keen awareness, it was certainly for the fact that she kept a kriffin' armory an arm's reach away from her pillow.

"Tyra, Tyra, Tyra. What brings you all the way out here?" he began, before offering an over the top incline of his head. He then lowered his arms and motioned towards the stall before them with his chin. "Something called funnel cake. You ever have it before?"

Pleasantries. Uttered as if they were the best of friends. In truth, there wasn't a solid word that he could to describe what they were to one another. Acquaintances? Clients? No matter. For the moment, the words flowed as freely as the greasy confections around them. And for as infrequent as the two saw one another, Yusha felt perfectly at home treating her as thus. Perhaps it had been too far long since he had an actual friend.

Or, perhaps he wanted to rob her blind in the name of avenging his bruised pride. Who knew?

He spoke her name thrice over.

The man turned, opening his arms wide, oozing melodramatic charm and charisma. Of course, the King of Beggars would not become so without learning very quickly how to talk his way out of trouble. Everything about the King was deliberate, planned, methodical, of course. Well... almost everything. She recalled the night of their first meeting, a night that had not gone how either of them had expected.

Years of slavery paid off, it seemed. She was careful, maybe even paranoid, but still... it was almost uncanny how she'd been able to sense him, even with the force on her side.

She greeted the man with a broad smile, genuinely pleased to see someone she knew. That was all, of course. It definitely wasn't Yusha specifically she had been excited to see. He definitely didn't make her heart skip a beat or butterflies spring to life in her belly. Nope, no way. It was the familiar face, that's all. A welcome familiar face, to be sure, but nothing more.

"I could ask the same of you, Yusha!" She replied, returning his melodramatic gesture with a slight curtsy. "Catching up on a few lost years' worth of exploring. What about you?"

Hell yeah, she was. She still hadn't gotten over just... being able to go places and do things.

"Funnel cake? What is it like... do you pour stuff through it or what?"

She stepped up and swung an arm around Yusha's shoulders, casually leaning on him as they waited in line. A friendly gesture, right? Two acquaintances greeting one another, right? Sure... a subtle sign that she wasn't worried about the Beggar King and his quick fingers? Maybe. A challenge...? Perhaps...

Did she know for sure whether she was just greeting a friend or flirting with danger?

Nope.

There were people you met in life who would smile, and show their emotions on their face, would wear their hearts on their sleeves as it were, and then there were those who didn’t. There were those who hid their emotions behind masks, the politicians and businessmen who populated the upper circles of the galactic civilization. While Lunara might have grown up wearing her heart on her sleeve like her peers, she’d spent her entire adult life surrounded by those who delighted in the masks they could wear.

Her companion for the night was no different, politician, businessman, consummate manipulator he seemed like the kind of man who didn’t wear his heart on his sleeve, he seemed like the kind of man who was aware of the image he was putting out into the world at every second…not the kind of man who would greet you with a smile.

Except that’s exactly what he was doing right now.

Blue eyes blinked in surprise, one twice three times before the young woman managed to gain control of herself, taking a long sip of her wine to give her the cover she needed. “Well, if the gentleman is going to be so kind to offer his tab, then I’ll do a top up and a basket of strawberries please.”

Credius’ smile was answered with a bright grin of her own as Lunara stepped up next to him, inclining her head at the Viceroy.

“Well, who could turn down an offer like that? Please, lead the way.”

She was hardly going to turn down the offer of pleasant company and better seats, her own ticket stub had assigned her to a position towards the rear of the tent, and while she was sure she would be able to see…if she had her way the woman would have preferred being seated with someone she knew rather than a complete stranger.

“I certainly seem to have caught you in a much better mood than last time, I didn’t actually think you were able to smile. Next you’ll tell me you love to dance and acrobatics.”

She was a charmer, that Tyra.

In her own way, the ashen-haired woman returned the King of Beggar's exceptional greeting. Where he had opened his arms as if to receive all creation in his embrace, she had lowered herself in a curtsy. The exchange had left the man literally grinning from ear to ear. Mostly because she had seen fit to humor him. Partially because it wasn't bad to see her. Though Yusha fumbled over what word to mentally assign their "relationship", he was not in any way disturbed by her presence. Though the nature of their meeting had been far from average, he actually felt...happy? To see her?

Exploring. Now there was common ground if ever he heard it. During the evening of their meeting, she had not provided the details of how she ended up in His city. The most she would mention on the subject was that she could now travel as freely as she'd like. There was an implication there - one that Yusha was polite enough not to prod. Somewhere along the line, she did not have that freedom of movement. If the King was a betting man - and some would say he was - he'd wager someone or something had kept her like a caged bird. Or maybe it was a prison sentence. On of the two.

"Family business took me away from the City. Now I'm on vacation!" His response was as enthusiastic as their exchange - and it nicely summarized the whirlwind that he seen him leave his comfort zone behind. In the beginning, it seemed nothing would inspire the man to ever set foot outside of his Kingdom. The cesspool he called a domain was no shining gem, or even a sprawling metropolis for that matter. But, as far as he was concerned, it was his. The underbelly belonged to him. But. The circumstances of one's birth always had a way of uprooting even the most stubborn of souls.

So it was that Yusha stepped out into the Galaxy.

"If I'm being perfectly honest, I have no freaking idea. It just smells great." came his honest response, complete with a shrug. As he spoke, he soon found her arm draped over his shoulders. Jokingly, the man huffed so that a stray strand of her hair no longer obstructed his vision. Friendly, huh? In turn, his left arm draped about her waist in equal fashion. Stepped forward to the counter wasn't even awkward at all in terms of moving either.

"What'll it be?" came the voice of the grease-ridden sod manning the counter. Yusha held up one finger and ordered their confection. Paid for it too, without truly spending a dime. Ah, the perks of larceny. Soon, they found themselves the proud owner of a paper plate laden with the piping hot dessert. Yusha released the woman's waist then and tore off a piece, offering it. He'd be damned if he took the first bite - what if it tasted like ass?

"Ladies first." he said, masking his caution behind "manners" and a well-placed wink. As he held the confection aloft, a gleam caught his eye on the side of the stall. A symbol of sorts. Tilting his head allowed him to see that it was the Confederate roundel. Interesting. Wasn't there a contest about those going on?​

Her arm had gone around his shoulders, and Yusha responded with sliding his own around her waist.

Tyra would by lying if she tried to say she didn't enjoy it. That had been a surprise to her, honestly. After what she'd been through... she hadn't expected to be welcoming of physical touch. But to her delight, now that her body was her own again, she was pleased to find it brought her joy to be able to enjoy such things... even get excited by them.

But as much as they danced and flirted, the two were still mysteries to one another. Perhaps that was part of the attraction. Perhaps his line of work was what made Yusha keep his cards close to his chest, or maybe that was just how he was. Still, she enjoyed the challenge, the tease. Family business? That could mean a number of things. Still, if he was on vacation now, perhaps they could end up getting in trouble somewhere together.

"Vacation sounds like fun." She replied with a grin.

The two approached the counter like that and Tyra waited as her companion ordered this confection that neither of them had heard of. In fact, that made her chuckle; who hadn't heard of funnel cake? They were probably the only two in the entire festival that had reason not to know what such a thing was, and yet here they were, about to find out together.

It smelled delicious.

They stepped away and he held the thing between them, offering her the first bite. Tyra met his eyes, smirking. Politely getting her to check it out first, huh? She remained still for just a moment, licking her lips thoughtfully as she stared into that piercing gaze.

"A gentleman too? He's just full of surprises, isn't he?"

She grinned at him, maintaining eye contact and a determined smirk as she plucked the piece of offered cake and popped it into her mouth.

Damn.

It was really nice; like, really nice. Moist, sweet, still hot and fresh. She had quietly been hoping it would be awful, so she could fool him into taking a large bite himself but rather... it was quite the opposite.

Tyra closed her eyes for a moment, attempting to summon a look of disgust.

"Oh dear..." she said, swallowing, "it's... it's awful. That's a shame. Oh well, I should probably take care of the rest of it for you."

The smirk returned, and she reached for the plate.

It was a quiet night on the streets of Janara III. Voph, having had his fill of parties, was hunkered down in a small cafe on the main stretch of the park. He had his datapad with him, looking through the vast list of tasks that he was helping oversee. The White-Gold Tower was nearly ready to be officially opened to the Knights Obsidian, but there was still considerable amounts of work to be done. Voph leaned back, rolling his head from side to side to alleviate tension in his neck. He took a sip from the cup of caf he had, and glanced around the cafe. Business was impressive, even for an opening night, but it had slowed as the various events and such got underway.

Voph looked relatively out of place, serving a stark contrast with the bright and colorful clothing of those around him with his own black, monastic looking robes. He folded his arms across his chest, brow furrowing slightly as his attention landed on a holoscreen of a news report. More importantly, on the attendants hurrying to turn it off as it was "Not appropriate for the setting." The audio only barely discernible, Voph heard something of the Xolu system, and a disappearance. Kidnapping. Voph shook his head, turning back to his datapad. It almost made him wish he no longer held such positions as he did now. Made him long for the days when he could see a report that some noble was being held for ransom, and he was on the next flight to their last known location.

But alas, such was not his life anymore. Now, his life consisted of meetings, gatherings, and useless political ventures. Voph stared idly at the cup of caf on his table. What if he just...ran away from it all? Took up the simple life again? He wouldn't, of course, his sense of duty was far too strong. But he missed the days of adventure and intrigue, living from one day to the next, never sure who was his ally, and who was his enemy. He was sure, however, that in time, he would find another cause worth pursuing. It was only a matter of time before war boiled over again....

Meetings, parties, duty. There had been no time for anything else the lupine would like to use as a diversion to entertain himself. Even his presence on Janara III was because of the new position he held. Yes, the time would come when he would be back on mission, but for now the mission seemed to be the assurance of smooth transition of power for several worlds the Confederacy had recently brokered agreements with. That meant the Viceroyalty and other appointed ambassadors were on the planet. Gerwald's job was to serve and protect in this instance, though a few moments had been found for himself. He was told to be a tourist, so that is what he did.

The scent of food and caf coming from a small cafe had piqued the wolf's interest. His life had never been one that would allow him to simply relax and enjoy the hobby of people watching, and yet he felt the need to make it a skill. There was another scent, one he had smelled a few times before. Miraluka. Gerwald did not know the man personally, though he had been present for the promotions both of them had been offered. They had differed in opinion on the perceived and potential threat to the Knight Obsidian, though Gerwald had found he disagreed with most in that meeting.

It was odd to see a blind man staring into a cup wearing the expression of deep thought, but this was the picture Gerwald had painted before him. Moving toward the table, the lupine once again decided to make the effort to get to know another of his fellow Knights Obsidian. The day would come where Gerwald would need alliances and favors to call upon, and those were only formed through personal effort.

A soft sigh escaped his lips before he sat down, unannounced and uninvited. Gerwald was certain if his company was not wanted it would be made clear in short order.

"Is the caf good, or should I order something else," he asked hoping to break the ice and begin a conversation with the elder warrior. "I hope I am not being too presumptuous, but I have recently learned the expression your wearing is best served with company whether one thinks it needed or not."

Of course Gerwald referred to his own repeated mistake of not trusting anyone to be reliable. There were only 2 people Gerwald had ever trusted that deeply, and both were gone for various reasons. The only thing Gerwald hoped for in this instance was that this Knight Obsidian was not aware of the lupine's loss. Perhaps they could help each other at some point, but this moment was about Voph, not the wolf.

Voph didn't stir for a long second, still staring at the mug of Caf in front of him. He knew the wolf was approaching before he sat down. Voph sighed quietly. Not a frustrated sigh, but more an expression of contemplation. Voph looked up at Gerwald, and smiled simply. "Fellowship is always welcome, Master Lechner. Were it so that I desired solitude, I would have barricaded myself in an office. And the caf is adequate. Best as you could expect from a place like this anyways."

Voph looked down at the mug again, and picked it up. He hesitated for a moment, before taking another sip. He smiled softly to himself as he returned the cup to the table. "I'll be fine, before you ask." He looked back up to Gerwald, leaning over crossed arms on the table. Voph seemed...forlorn. Lost, if you will. The kind of lost one feels when the path forward is no longer clear. "The one problem war never prepares you for. When the dust settles, what next?"

Voph glanced around the cafe again before sighing once more. Not the first time he had felt this way. Nor would it be the last. "Decades upon decades, and I feel no closer to answering that question. Perhaps the one question I shall never answer." His head turned back to Gerwald. "Fighting is all I have ever known. War eternal, since the day I was born. Voph glanced to the side as a pair of children ran past, laughing and screaming, parents attempting to collect them and redirect their merriment to a more appropriate venue. "The feeling will pass, in time. It always does. But without the rain, there can be no growth."

Voph watched the children for a moment longer as their parents ushered them out the door. Then, turning back to Gerwald, his brow furrowed again. "Tell me, after the festivities on Golbah, a suit of armor was commissioned for you by my hand. How has it fared? I must admit such a project was out of my depth, so I am Keen to hear what I might have done better."

Hearing the young woman mention topping up with a basket of strawberries, Credius really was rather confused, but in the end paid no heed to the fact that she so blatantly abused his kindness, in the end it wasn't really going to hurt to spend a few more credits for something so trivial and small, it WAS after all but a basket of strawberries and not an entire cargohold of an Adamant class transporter, now that would've probably been more on the ridiculous end of things. Still with that inside joke in his mind, the man happily paid the accumulated cost on his tab and lead Lunara to the seats he had hurridly acquired but a few moments prior.

Sure, he did not like the speeches and boring, long hours that came with his viceroyalty, but by the force that title did come in handy when it came to securing some prime seats at a performance like this. "Now, you're just being extremely cheeky, my dear," Though he really did not like it when people thought they could mock him, the veritable innoscence in the young woman's voice and demeanor did make it so his anger would not be welling up from within, in fact he could not refrain himself from returning her teasing in kind, by grinning rather dubiously at her when they would take their seats at one of the constructed balconies specifically for this event, high and dry within the massive tent that would be used to hold the spectacle. "Hmm, loving todance myself...not really, but I do like to watch the arts when performed by skilled masters in their crafts and arts, it is a testament to either the talent one possesses or the effort they've put into honing their skill. I would be a selfcentered, pompous fool if I were to ignore such efforts and talents. "

Suddenly gasping rather silently, the Viceroy looked down at the stage, where the person doing the lengthy speech seemed to finally reach the end of his boring lithany. "Finally, something else than 'glory to the confederacy'and all that other boring yapping... well, time to enjoy the show...hope you don't dislike the performance arts though, now that would be a shame."

There was hardly ever any reason for Zahra to venture away from Miranda, let alone for a carnival. The loud noises and bright lights were far from the preference of the Queen of Shadows, but it was intriguing to see how the mortal realm spent their spare hours. Even apart from that, there was someone she was here to see. The fact that she got to watch the humans try their best to quell their darkest memories with joy was simply a bonus. No matter how many rides they rode, or how many treats they snacked on, how many games they won… nobody could hide their deepest secrets from the Mother of Nightmares.

She drank it all in.

As she glided across the cobblestone floor taking in the sights and sounds, Zahra scanned the crowd for her little thief. This was exactly the type of place she expected to find him. Plenty of pockets to pick, plenty of unaware minds to fool, plenty of places to hide. She barely noticed the thousands of eyes that gazed in awe at the milk-white of her eyes and the pale moonlight of her flesh. She was rather ghostly in form and feature; it didn’t look at all like she belonged at a carnival. A haunted house, perhaps, but not where there were joy and laughter. The emotions seemed to be drained from the very air around them as she floated by, only to return moments later when the train of her dress had disappeared into the crowd. A strange sensation for all.

“Yuuusha…” She called out, harrowing voice carrying much further than it had a right too over the pings and clanks of carnival games. “Where are you?” The Mother of Nightmares wasn’t talking to anyone in particular, and nobody really reacted to the sound of her voice filling their chests with dread. They simply hurried by, hoping that the sensation would disappear as they put more distance between themselves and the pale witch. When she finally laid eyes on what she was looking for, her brows knitted together in the centre. Yusha was standing at a stall, face deep in some kind of sickly-sweet treat and side by side with someone who’s hair looked white as snow. Someone Zahra didn’t know.

A rather surprised expression took over her face after the look of confusion. Yes, Zahra was well aware that he must have had bonded with mortal kind. Humans were impatient. They had such a short life span that Zahra didn’t blame them for it. But it did mean that Yusha wasn’t likely to wait for the Queen of Shadows all the time. A smirk replaced the surprise, a smirk that brought the corners of her lips up into a rather immaculate look of superiority. She would allow him his fun with the temporary being that stood by his side, for in the end he would always return to her. In the end, he would join her in the realm of darkness.

Zahra closed the distance between herself and Yusha, moving so quietly that one would have struggled to hear even if Janara was shrouded in deathly silence. When she was finally close enough to feel the heat radiating from his body, she wrapped her spindly fingers around his face to cover his eyes. “Guess who…” Her lips were almost grazing his ear, and her words were whispered in a haunting tone. She hoped she would feel surprised radiating from him next, surprise that she had chosen to venture from the shadows for the sole purpose of seeing him, but she wouldn't have been upset if it was irritation for interrupting his night instead. She may have favoured her little thief, but she revelled in his bitterness and sorrow just as she would have any other soul.

Either way, the Mother of Nightmares would be pleased.

The lupine nodded as the miraluka spoke to him. It was a fitting answer, and one which was logical. Logic was not something Gerwald usually dealt in. Most of his life had seen him led by his passions, and many mistakes had been made because of it. He could not say he regretted his choice, but Gerwald had seen the damage caused by living life in such a way. It was a message Alkor Centaris tried to get across to him. The blackened arm would forever live in his memory. Still, Gerwald was led by what he felt, and while he could perhaps give up his mission for revenge, he could not give up the one thing that drove him now. Naedira would be among the living again.

Gerwald listened to the way the the master seemed to talk about a lifetime of fighting. He spoke of being restless, a curse perhaps of a life devoted to war. Gerwald often wondered if he would feel the same, but the lupine did not live as long as most humanoid creatures. Almost half his life had been spent already unless there was some way to add more years to his life.

He sighed as a caf was set in front of him. It was hot, and the aroma cleared his nose of the other scents which were around the cafe. There was something about the brew which had the power to clear scents away, something Gerwald was pleased about. A sip was taken, the wolf almost burning his lip.

"The armor is satisfactory. It fits well. I have not tried to shift in it yet, though I have been told that is part of the design to keep me from streaking through the city with a purple lightsaber in hand."

It was not a question as much as a statement. Gerwald chuckled. He knew why they armor had been crafted.

"Thank you," he added with sincerity.

"Have you ever thought about preparing the next generation for the wars you will not be able to fight? It might help with the restlessness."

Gerwald smiled putting the cup back on the table. The caf was decent, but the wolf had tasted better.

The Confederacy seemed to be attending to a lot of celebrations these days. Many governments requesting aid had led to less military action on part of the Confederacy, but Kaden was okay with that. Yes, his credit accounts with them were a little lighter, but the farmstead made up for the missing work. It seemed to worm that when Kaden needed a job one was provided. Today was simply about fun. Kaden had heard about the scavenger hunt which would result in the chance to win a one week, all inclusive stay, at the resort. If there was one thing Kaden had been promising Daisy that he did not have the funds to make good on quite yet, it was a great vacation.

War, work, missions, had their way of pulling the two apart at times, but they always managed to reconnect. What Kaden knew they needed was time alone where they could simply be themselves without worrying about life on Haseria or in the Confederacy. Kaden didn't need his past to be something which always came to mind when they were together, or what her brothers and father might do if they knew how serious the two seemed to be. Kaden was determined to win them a chance to have one week away from reality. They both deserved it.

Once again Kaden held onto Daisy's hand as they walked through the theme park. There was something comforting about it. Kaden didn't know how best to put it other than he seemed to know their hands fit. He liked it, even if their culture was not one that showed affection or tenderness. Kaden had seen so much war and destruction he found the simple moments to be different, even different than what his mother had to offer.

Selene. Daisy would find her ... interesting.

"So the CIS crest is hidden a few places and we are supposed to find them all. We have a few clues, but that's it," Kaden said to Daisy and the pink haired jedi that was with them.

Asaara had agreed to join them once more as Kaden and Daisy were doing their best to get to know her. She was different than most people Kaden knew, and seemed to be good for Daisy. The two had ganged up on him when it came to the fact he had not had any chocolate, a memory they would hopefully laugh about for some time.

Kaden handed the clues to Daisy. There was one other thing about him that had been news.

"Here, you read better than I do."

War had stunted Kaden's education.

“Just a little bit.”

There was a sparkle of amusement in Lunara’s blue eyes as they flicked away from the stage to settle on her companion for a moment. The faintest ghost of a smile curling up her lips as the white-haired woman offered up the basket of strawberries as an apology. The man had paid for them after all, and she had been taking liberties so letting him share the sweet bounty was the least she could do. Besides, he didn’t seem angry…if anything the man was…playful. Lunara had to blink, once, twice and then against, shaking her head for a moment before letting that ghost of a smile transform into a grin.

“That’s a shame, everyone can dance, and should. It’s…liberating. Just to loose yourself in the music and let your body sweep over the ground. It’s a little bit like flying.”

Dancing was one of those ‘life skills’ the church had forced her to learn back in the day when she’d started preparing for life at the palace. It seemed at least once a week there was a gala or a fete, a ball or a festival that she had to attend and all of them included some form of dance. T wouldn’t do for a representative of the Church to let the side down after all. It had surprised her, but Lunara actually enjoyed dancing. She wasn’t on the level of these professionals, their acrobatics and skill made her look like she was stomping around the floor but it was something to imagine. If here life had turned out differently, maybe she would up down there getting ready for the show.

“Glory to the performance arts.”

The words came out in a flat tone as she winked at Credius, before taking a sip of win and reaching for a strawberry.

“I’d hardly be here if I didn’t enjoy the art, I’m really looking forward to the show.”

It's awful.

Although the King of Beggars had not yet tasted the confection, he was not ignorant to the song and dance. He watched with supreme interest as she sampled the piping hot dish; and could not help himself from laughing aloud as an expression of disgust claimed her features. If it was as bad as she claimed, there wouldn't have been younglings and couples alike flocking to the stall. Oh, the Thief knew her game. His hands raised in mock defeat - an exasperated expression claimed his face. Why, he even pouted ever so slightly. "I am so sorry that it's bad. Whatever shall I do?" he began, before returning to his usual, confident self. The thumb of his offhand motioned behind him, towards the portable restrooms afar.

"You may want to head to the ladies room though. Seeing that you're full of sh-"

He caught himself before the expletive shot from his mouth. After all, there were children within earshot and it just would not do to be a poor influence. Though he did show some semblance of restraint, his lips had parted to reveal a dazzling smile amidst his chuckles. Yet it did not tarry long - as an all-too familiar sensation rolled over his being. Over time, the King of Beggars had compared this reality to the rolling in of fog. Slow. Creeping. Cold. To those who were the victims, it would feel as though muck had been plastered within their skulls. Yusha had been on the receiving end more than once - and thus, his face grew surprised. His ethereal patron had seen fit to join them.

Should he be flattered...or afraid?

Her voice was a haunting melody - one that crept across the air just as much as it rang within his head. She had that uncanny ability to make herself heard however and whenever she chose. Yet, outside of the syllables which fell from her lips, there was no sound which gave her away. No wind. No footsteps. Even if the entire world had gone quiet, Yusha would not have been able to hear her. It was not until darkness claimed his vision that she gave herself away. Her hands, as cool as a night time breeze, rested over his eyelids. Her voice, the sole warmth upon his skin, sounded directly in his ear. She would indeed feel surprise radiating within him. Surprise and...Confusion?

It was seldom that she left her comforts on Miranda. Even when it was to meet him for the delivery of trinkets she had sent him to steal. So why here? Why now? The Thief swallowed hard. "Hmm..." He mused, raising his hands so that they rested upon hers. "Starts with a Z and rhymes with Ara?" While surprised and a touch confused, there was never room for malice within the Thief. Not towards the ethereal woman, at least. She had plucked him from trouble far too many times for there ever to be anything shy of gratitude at the end of the day. Instead, he blindly motioned to the Echani beside him.

"I suppose we'll have to cut this snack session short...so I'll leave you to dispose of that awful funnel cake." He said. In truth, there were times when Zahra would simply pull him into the Darkness without a word. He'd vanish in a puff of shadow - gone from the waking world. At least, this time, she gave him the courtesy of a greeting.

Yusha did steel himself quietly. The tug into the black was never the most...comfortable...experience.​
