OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Organization Name: The Jedi Order
  • Classification: Force Order
  • Affiliation: The Jedi Order(s)
  • Organization Symbol: Here.
  • Description:
    • The Jedi Order is a collective of sentient beings from all over the galaxy united in their service to the light side of the Force. They follow the tenents of the Jedi Code, which teaches self-discipline, compassion, harmony, and service to the Force. Members of the Jedi Order are easily distinguished by their inherent connection to the Force and ability to wield its awesome power. Additionally, many carry the famed lightsabre, a fearsome blade wielded by the Jedi in defense of those who cannot defend themselves from the dark terrors of the galaxy.

Jedi of the Order generally seek to protect innocent life and preserve all manner of knowledge. A Jedi is a versatile and resourceful individual with the Force at their disposal and can act in many different ways, ranging from diplomats and mediators in perilous negotiations, keepers of knowledge and archaeologists uncovering ancient secrets, to being guardians of peace and enforcers of the law. Their goal is not primarily to destroy the Dark Side or the Sith, but rather to serve as guardians of the galaxy.

This is in line with their purpose from before the first schism occurred and the Sith came to be as a splinter group of fallen Jedi. The Jedi of today still follow the teachings laid out by the ancient Order, but their interpretation varies from individual to individual. The Order doesn’t enforce one specific view of the Force or interpretation of the Jedi Code, so members of the Jedi Order are free to follow their personal interpretation of the sacred texts.
GEOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION
  • Headquarters: Peace, Jedi Praxeum Station
  • Domain:
    • While The Jedi Order does not inherently claim any territory, due to the demands of the Jedi Code to serve strictly as servants for the good of the galaxy; it does see areas under its 'protection'. Anywhere that hold sentient life is the foremost concern of the Jedi Order - and they will often be sent to protect or otherwise deal with any issues that threaten the life, liberty, or happiness of a species; but due to restraints of members, credits, or even influence through the Galaxy they tend to restrict themselves to more direct interference in territory held by 'The Galactic Alliance' as of right now.
  • Notable Assets:
    • The Jedi Order's most notable possession is currently the Jedi Praxeum Station of 'Peace', however, it has been given rights to large and notable Jedi Temples such as Coruscant. Kyber crystal stockpiles, ancient Jedi Texts and lore, and otherwise various artifacts of various alignments are also in their archives; many for the sake of studious practices and searching for the secrets of the Force. Past this, many in the Jedi have sacrificed most material possessions, and thus the Jedi Order has as well; though individuals are free to follow their own needs and desires.
SOCIAL INFORMATION
  • Hierarchy:
    • The Jedi Order, as it is known now, is the newest and hopefully last attempt to unify the Jedi Order under one collective governance and motion. While many of the Jedi have long since abandoned the Order as a whole, many have come back into the fold for the sake of this new effort - but the question soon rose of ‘how’ the new order was to be run. Debates and talks went on and on for the various Orders, from the Wardens of Light asking for no grand master, to the Republic Jedi asking for two master representation, to Jedi further from the core asking for all masters on the council - and others yet asking for a strong central command that could guide the Order with a heavy hand. In the end, none would satisfy the needs of the Order as a whole - so long as only one was taken into account.
Instead, the Order’s governance was divided into three steps; varying in outright power over the Order, and the amount of those involved with the votes themselves. Designed after weeks of meditation with the guidance of the Peace Gatekeeper, Wyatt Morga formally set out the Articles of the Council for the many to see - and they agreed, albeit some did so hesitantly.
      • The Open Council -
        • By far the strongest of the councils, the Open Council is designed to incorporate as many of the Jedi Masters in as possible. For those without an Order, for those with years of guidance and no platform to stand on; the Open Council serves as a platform for their voice. A far cry from the ‘Elected Masters’ of the Old Republic, every master is given a chance to speak their peace - before the collective throng of the wise, and when all is said and done a vote comes forth. Every Master is given one - and so long as a majority is reached, their word becomes law for the Jedi Order.
      • The Representative Council -
        • Smaller than the Open Council by far, the Representative Council serves as a means for the most respected voices in the various recognized Orders of the galaxy to govern intergalactic policies. Simply put, it it relies on two Masters from each Order, each with a given vote; and through them, they decide stances on alliances, involvement with war, and any number of details that otherwise surpass the daily running of the Jedi Order, but pale to the integral decisions made by the Open Council.
      • The High Council -
        • Made up of seven positions, the High Council is oddly in contrast to its name; for it is the weakest of the three councils in its ability to control the Order; though it is also the most utilized, and most often taken into account. Used for day to day operations, diplomatic connections, and external connections, the High Council serves as a guiding hand for the Jedi as a whole. Elected by the Open and Representative Councils, the High Council has seven positions; each just as important as the other.
          • The Grand Master -
            • While not a traditional Grandmaster in the sense of older iterations of the Jedi, the Grandmaster of the Jedi Order serves as foremost as the voice of the Jedi; the altogether tone of their movement, and the guiding hand of where they move. While his power is entirely up to the Representative and Open council to follow on their own terms, he is stricken to speak on their behalf when required, and to help guide the Jedi in day to day affairs; when the Council can not be called, and when otherwise the Order requires a leader.

In a sense, the Grandmaster is meant to serve as the beacon of what it means to be the Jedi paradigm; in every sense, ensuring that the Jedi are not corrupted, fear the Sith, or otherwise lose sight of the future. It is a difficult job, making those viable for it slim and far between; but it is a very important position for the Jedi as a whole.
          • The Sword of the Jedi -
            • Where the Grandmaster serves as the guiding hand of the Jedi, the Sword of the Jedi is all things situated around war. Be it against outer rim cultists, dark siders in the core trying to expand Byss, or otherwise the massive threat of the Sith Empire itself; there is one that stands among the best in tactical, and combative ability. The Sword of the Jedi is feared by the dark, and is an altruistic beacon of light for the throngs of Jedi looking to strike back.

Although a heavily sought after position, it is dangerous for its influence over the zealotry of the Order. While the Open and Representative councils also control the position of the Sword of the Jedi; it is to be said that the Sword is a position that helps guide intergalactic governments in leading their efforts against the Dark. A vital component of the Jedi war efforts, they are well needed for any efforts to push back the dark.
          • Keeper of First Knowledge -
            • While the Sword and Grandmaster help guide the war effort, and the jedi order as a whole; The Keeper of First Knowledge sees their efforts more focused on peace and the world of the Jedi as a whole. From spiritual health to the infrastructure of the Order; they help to elevate the order's members to a level respectable of any Jedi - and in turn, the Order as a whole.

Often chosen for their intelligence, the Keeper of First Knowledge focuses on a variety of tasks - from ensuring the Jedi coffers are overfull, to the education of the Jedi Padawans while ensuring their access to information is set, to even maintaining the history of the Order. Anything regarding peace, the Keeper of First Knowledge helps to guide.
          • The Venerated Masters -
            • After the three primary positions of the Order, there are four 'elevated' positions for Masters who have proven themselves otherwise exceptional in most regards. When they embody the true strength of the Order, and help raise their fellow Jedi to the pinnacle of their strength - be it religious, intellectually, or physically, they are often considered for the August Body - an organization made up of Master's who are considered ready and willing to join the High Council. Once a member of the High Council steps down or otherwise dies, a member of the August Body is elected to the Council post-haste; where a ceremony is conducted to celebrate their ascension to the council.

Once there, they are given the same power as the others on the Council, and are beholden to the other Councils when called. Day to day they are given the right to guide the Jedi Order as they see fit; and help with any variety of issues they face, often given the choice to focus on any individual problems they might notice. From 'Battlemasters' helping with training the martial focus, or internal subterfuge through the Jedi Shadow.
  • Membership:
    • Joining the Jedi Order can be simple - as all it truly requires is a sensitivity to the Force. Once someone is proven to be sensitive to the force by having their midichlorians counted, they are given the option of joining the Order, or asking their parents to allow them to join the Order would they be available. Orphans and slaves are the exceptions, as they are more often taken into Jedi custody so long as the situation is deemed safer and healthier for the child, than other alternatives. There is not, however, restrictions on ages joining the Jedi Order - through the older ones tend to have a more scrutinizing gaze to ensure their already established worldly connections are not so toxic or demanding that they may encourage a fall to the Dark Side - through counseling is a heavy part of current Jedi academics.

Once the introduction to the Order is done, an initiate will come into the Jedi to learn the very basics of sensing and altering the Force around them. This can take weeks, months, or even years depending on the student; but once it is done, and the person in question has learned how to at least sense the Force - they are given the right to be chosen by a Knight or Master as a Padawan and brought into the Order as the most basic of the ranks. They will remain as such until their Master declares them capable of teaching themselves - where they shall be formally inducted into the Order as a fully-fledged Knight before their peers and allowed more autonomy in their actions.

As of currently, there are approximately 10 thousand Jedi inducted into the Order - be it as padawans, knights, or masters.
      • OOC: Joining The Jedi Order faction page or The Jedi Order discord is a perfectly fine way of joining, and any help the TJO can give in regards to joining - be it narrative issues or social ones - can be accommodated for and helped along the way.
  • Climate:
    • Internally, the Jedi Order is a helpful, generous people that encourage their members to strive for greatness. More often than not, you'll find Jedi helping Jedi as Jedi know how to do - be it in training, guidance, or searching for the next best way to help the sentients of the galaxy escape their lot in life. Where entire families are welcome aboard Peace to live with their Jedi family members, so too connections to the Order encouraged by its member base. That is to say, most of the Jedi Order is wholesome with only a few caveats in minor political disagreements, and the occasional friendly rivalry.

Externally, serving as protectors of the Galaxy has helped them garner a good reputation as the bulwark against the Darkness; and otherwise being the primo center of most light sided discussions. Having healthy diplomatic connections between the various Orders and Governments near the core has allowed them much freedom in that regard, so any involved with the Order can feel at peace with knowing their goals are ever constant, and ever supported.
  • Reputation:
    • Depending on who you are, the Jedi Order can be considered a variety of things - from loved and appreciated, to hated and disdainful. Past mistakes and the mystery of their organization has often set the unaligned and non-force users of the galaxy against them; from their missteps during the Galactic Civil War or the ever constant rumors they helped tear down the Galactic Republic nearly a millennia ago; but many of these are unfounded, or perpetrated by Sith propaganda that finds itself in most honest fringe sites to date.

For those more willing to trust the Jedi, they've found them exceptional resources on understanding the invisible guiding force of the Galaxy known as the Force, and as an exceptional bulwark to the Sith and their constant encroachment on the free lands of the Galaxy - helping to retain their freedom from the imperial cult, and the ever-constant threat of Sith growing power-hungry and conquering their planets for the abundance of resources, or otherwise strategic value. This has, at the very least, helped foster a new outlook on the Jedi for many of the galaxy at large - while the smaller minority continues to shrink in the face of their expansion.
  • Curios:
    • Most notably, all inducted members of the Order are given an incorruptible Jedi Compass to give them mostly unfettered access to the Jedi Archives and location of their home station of Peace. This has allowed for immediate, cross galaxy communication between the force users - and a great safety net for anyone involved. While it only works for the Jedi, it is the premier example of their Order - surpassed only by the iconic nature of the Lightsaber.
  • Rules:
    • Canonically, the Jedi Order follows historically, all the wordings and teachings of generations that have previously established the Jedi Code as we know it; however, there are some differences that should be highlighted. Notably, there is no restrictions on 'any specific belief' of the Force - meaning that nobody is beholden to any set belief or set of 'morals' in the Order, albeit with limitations on what justify the ends or practicing the Dark Side within reason. Small endeavors into 'Electrical Judgement' or the like can be passed off, but when one begins to fall to the power of the Dark Side, executive action can be taken to subside that terrible path.
  • Goals:
    • While the Order itself has the long term plan of destroying the Sith - and driving back their darkness from the worlds they have corrupted through genocide and ritualistic spells, the Jedi Order also understands this could be a fight that lasts generations. As such, they have a more focused short term goal of unifying the Jedi Orders under a single banner; inducting all of them into 'The Jedi Order' as Jedi in themselves, and abandoning the harsh fracturing of the Jedi over years of continuous infighting and political upheaval. This has proven difficult, due to a strong need for 'self-identification' from the various Orders, but has been making slow, tenuous progress since started by Wyatt Morga.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

The Jedi Order, later known as the Old Jedi Order and referred to as the Holy Order of the Jedi Knights, was an ancient monastic peacekeeping organization unified by its belief and observance of the Force, specifically the light side. The Jedi were the guardians of peace and justice in the Galactic Republic, and became perhaps the most well known of the various groups that relied on the Force for their power. Led by a series of Jedi Councils, the Order grew over the millennia despite facing many trials. Most often these threats were engineered by the Sith, the most prominent group of Force sensitives who wielded the dark side of the Force.
During several Great Schisms, numerous Jedi broke away from the original Order due to differences in how they believed the Force should be wielded. The various impasses reached by the orthodox Jedi and the defectors led to several wars, including the Hundred-Year Darkness, after which the defectors were exiled and founded the Sith Empire. The Sith were eventually found by the Republic and their discovery led to the Great Hyperspace War, and a Sith invasion of Coruscant. The Jedi on Coruscant, led by Jedi Guardian Anavus Svag and Jedi Master Memit Nadill, successfully defended the planet and defeated the Sith. Again and again however, the Sith would be reborn from within the ranks of the Jedi Order, and many more wars would be fought. Additionally, the ancient Sith Empire had not been as completely destroyed as the Jedi believed, and over the next thousand years, it reformed and grew.
A thousand years later, after the Great Sith War, the Sith Empire manipulated the Mandalorians into attacking the indolent Republic. The Jedi Council forbade the Order's members from participating in the following war, but two Jedi, Revan and Alek, garnered the support of many of their peers and entered the war on the side of the Republic. Prevailing after a long and bloody conflict, Revan and the Jedi who had followed him disappeared after the war's final battle. When they returned, they had turned to the dark side, and during the war that followed most of the Jedi Order was either destroyed or seduced by Revan's teachings. During the aftermath the Order was left numbering less than one-hundred Jedi. In light of this, the remaining members of the Jedi Council officially disbanded the Order. Shortly thereafter, nearly all the remaining Jedi were consumed by Darth Nihilus when they convened on Katar. However, the exiled Jedi Knight Meetra Surik defeated the Sith Triumvirate of Darth's Nihilus, Sion, and Traya, and reformed the Order with the help of the Lost Jedi.
About three hundred years after the Jedi Civil War, the ancient Sith Empire had again become strong enough to directly challenge the Jedi and the Republic for control over the galaxy. The initial onslaught of the Sith Empire saw over half of the Republic's territory fall into Sith hands, but the Republic managed to check the Sith's advance in the Mid-Rim. After a time, the Sith Empire surprised the galaxy by offering a truce, which was accepted by the Republic. However, the Sith used the lull in the war to launch a surprise attack on Coruscant. The capture of the Republic capital allowed the Sith to extort many concessions from the Republic, and the resulting Treaty of Coruscant was slanted heavily in the Empire's favor. This began the Cold War, which lasted for about twelve years. Afterwards, the conflict began anew, and the Republic would eventually emerge victorious.
Centuries later, the galaxy was again engulfed in a war between the Republic and the Sith. Led by Lord Hoth, the Jedi were able to regroup and push back the Sith, who eventually withdrew to the planet Ruusan. After seven long battles on Ruusan, the Sith were defeated and presumed wiped out. One of them managed to survive and reorganize the Sith Order. Though Darth Bane and the Sith Lords that followed in his footsteps remained hidden, they were patient. Millennia later, they revealed themselves, determined to have their revenge.
At the height of a separatist crisis, the Republic was split in two and a war once again engulfed the galaxy. During the Clone Wars, the Republic's armies were once again led by the Jedi. During the war's first battle, nearly two hundred Jedi died before Master Yoda and a Clone army arrived to assist them. After nearly three years, the course of the war swung in the Republic's favor, and total victory for the Jedi and the Republic seemed in sight. However, the war itself was simply the penultimate stroke of the Sith Grand Plan, orchestrated by the Supreme Chancellor of the Republic, Palpatine, who was in fact a Sith Master. The Jedi eventually learned the truth, but could not stop the plan's execution; Palpatine turned Anakin Skywalker to the dark side and instigated the Great Jedi Purge. The Order was virtually annihilated by the Sith and betrayed by the Republic they had served for nearly all of its existence. Only a few survived the Great Jedi Purge. However, Anakin Skywalker, with the indirect help of his son, Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker, eventually defeated the Sith, and Luke formed the New Jedi Order during the time of the New Republic.
After years of infighting, and the dispersal of the Jedi Order after the Gulag Plague; many iterations of the Jedi Order would rise and fall in time; leaving few to truly take up the mantle. While many did, and many were successful for many years - they would eventually fall, from political infighting to the Sith, to even the betrayal of Grand Masters who were lucky enough to not be found before their treachery could be exposed. Through this, many lessons were learned, and inevitably there would come about a single reunification effort known simply as 'The Jedi Order' - led by Wyatt Morga.
