OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To create a means of getting to and from Peace.
  • Canon Link: N/A
  • Permissions: N/A
  • Primary Source: Jedi Star CompassPeace
PRODUCTION INFORMATION
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Allows for instant long range communication between compasses.
  • Provides Astronavigational Data to all known Jedi Praxeums - Including Peace.
  • Can pull up any Jedi Information and Training techniques stored on Peace.
  • Meditation Crystal Inlay.
  • Self Corrupts upon Dark Side detection.
STRENGTHS
  • Jedi Encyclopedia -
    • With much of the Jedi knowledge in its grasp, each Jedi Compass can pull up data on other members, teaching techniques, and any codified information the Jedi Order uses to train its disciples, or uses for historic research. This connection only works one way, but the communication capabilities of the device allow for it to speak to any other user of the device at will - while also increasing their general ability with the Force. The last, and most important aspect of its nature is that it allows a Jedi to find the location of any non-Hidden Jedi Praxeum in the records of Peace; and additionally, finding the legendary Jedi Space Station for themselves.
  • Contingency -
    • A fail safe put into each Jedi Compass is the active ability to self corrupt, and destroy itself at the touch of a Dark Sider - or even the detection of the Force trying to pull from its depths the knowledge it keeps. Since each has to be given a signature sensitive enough to 'bond' with its owner, should that ever be corrupted or pushed the device will enact its failsafe and wipe all information on it - until it returns to Peace.
WEAKNESSES
  • Dangerous Knowledge -
    • Despite its fail safes, if a Jedi Compass is captured and corrupted (be it unlikely as it is) there would be a massive breach in Jedi security. With profiles on many of the Orders Jedi, history, teaching documentation, and Praxeum Locations - it could easily lead to very dangerous instances of foreign aggressors having all the information they need to attack the Jedi Order in its various sanctums.
DESCRIPTION

After the finding of Peace, Wyatt Morga set out to replicate a means to finding the station and its information. His solution came after reading ancient documents on a Jedi Star Compass that Luke Skywalker used in his own era to find Ahch-To; a perfect solution to finding the ever engimatic location of Peace. While it took Wyatt a few months to figure out exactly how the create such a device - he eventually did, and replicated it enough to pass to the various Padawans, Knights, and Masters of the Order.
The Jedi Compass was designed as the omni-tool for Jedi of every rank; with access to the entirety of Jedi Knowledge stored on the giant holocron that is Peace. This includes lessons on Lightsaber Combat, Force Techniques, Jedi History, and even profiles on the various members of the Order and their purpose within - though carefully ignores most sensitive information for the sake of privacy. Besides that, the Compass has the astronavigational data to find most Jedi Praxeums that are not otherwise hidden, including the Space Station Peace; for those who wish to return to the hub of the Order as it stands.
Additionally, the device is capable of communication with any other Jedi Compass, and can even encourage meditation - with a slight boost to Force attunement, and zen while in combat, so long as its on the Jedi in question.
The most dangerous part of the device however, is the fact that all that information could easily be used against the Jedi Order - should it be manipulated to do so. To stop this, a fail safe was implemented to save that sensitive information from the likes of Sith or any other prying eyes. Should a Compass sense the Dark Side, or any other Force related manipulation to breach its security, it will 'self-corrupt' the information on the device, making it little more than an expensive paperweight.
Overall, while a great tool - for Jedi or Sith that get their hands on it - the Jedi Compass is a device meant to encourage the Jedi Order to continue its constant efforts at working together, and otherwise sharing information they may not normally share.
