Never again shall our people fear the ravages of war. When the enemy comes, and they will, we shall be ready. We shall be armed. And we shall be deadly.”

SETTING INFORMATION
  • Military Base Name: Final Redoubt
  • Classification: Military Headquarters
  • Location: Prefsbelt IV [x]
  • Affiliation: Prefsbelt Command and by extension the New Imperial Order [x]
  • Population: Crowded. While the Redoubt houses legions of Prefsbelt Auxiliaries and Stossjaegers, it also acts as a multipurpose facility. There exists a high contingent of forced laborers who work to toil the fields of the Outer Perimeter to feed the masses, as well as civilians. Former First Order and Pa’Deshi citizens evacuated to Prefsbelt whom now live and work in a capacity as auxiliary staff, manufacturing weapons, armour and equipment for Prefsbelt Command. Then there is the naval contingent, who have their own design bureau, intelligence suite and command centre.
  • Demographics:
    • 40% Prefsbelt Auxiliary soldiers [x]
    • 20% Stossjaeger [x]
    • 17% Civilian labourers and technicians
    • 13% Forced labourers
    • 10% Naval and Starfighter personnel

The Rax Line
  • Accessibility: The base itself is off limits to outsiders. Legally speaking if one attempted to enter sans invite, they would be shot and disappeared, with their bodies used to fetilize crops. But the Redoubt spans a great deal of plains and hills, which allow for the potential of small scale infiltrations through the series of perimeter outposts. For larger incursions, seeking to enter the base is easier, but local forces would be alerted to the presence of an incursion. As such, it would alert the base, and would force the base onto red alert.
  • Description: The Final Redoubt is less a conventional military base, and more so a doomsday bunker. The actual facility is Fortress Dosuun, but it is surrounded by two rings of military outposts, fortifications and separate facilities. The Outer Perimeter sits twenty kilometers at all points from Fortress Dosuun, and acts as a perimeter for the plains, a vast portion of terraformed, flat earth which has been used for the farming of crops. The Inner Perimeter sits fifteen kilometers from the Outer Perimeter, and five from the Inner Perimeter, and sits in the foothills of mountains, providing bunkers and a tighter defensive line in case of attack. Fortress Dosuun however is the principal facility. Sat in and beneath six mountains, Fortress Dosuun is a series of bunkers, and military structures built into a mountain range.

POINTS OF INTEREST
Given the size of the complex, there are three areas of interest. The Outer Perimeter, The Inner Perimeter and finally Fortress Dosuun proper.

The Outer Perimeter can be properly ascribed as a series of fortifications that span the hills and plains around Fortress Dosuun. The Outer Perimeter at any given point, sits a solid twenty kilometers away from Fortress Dosuun and fifteen from the Inner Perimeter. The Outer Perimeter is dotted by periphery outposts, batteries, emplacements and encampments.

  • Camp Harlov: One of the larger installations of the Outer Perimeter is Camp Harlov, an agricultural facility. Or more accurately the housing the forced labourers who have been privately handed over to Prefsbelt Command authorities by the New Imperial Order. These labourers are worked to the bone, under the understanding that they must grow their own food, after the quotes of Prefsbelt Command are made. The workers are housed in above ground bunk houses, locked from the outside.
  • The Plains: With about fifteen kilometers of arable land between it and the hills and cliffs of the Inner Perimeter, the Plains are used for farming, with approximately 30’000 forced labourers toiling the fields, herding livestock or tilling the soil, beneath the watchful eye of soldiers.

  • Battery Ison: Sat at the edge of the shield is Battery Ison, one of six such batteries dotted around the Outer Perimeter. Ison, along with Riflor, Skye, Virgillia, Mephout and Seoul are fortified hypervelocity gun positions. These positions are fixed hardpoints, with flak batteries, and some smaller caliber artillery situated with them.
  • The Web: Streaking across the Plains, are a network of Conveyex rails which provide logistical transport and personnel mobility through the rings of defences, as well as being one of the few official channels of entry between it and Nova Avalonia.

  • Flak Tower Gorgon: Built with reinforced duracrete, the Flak Towers are positions primarily designed to intercept bombers, fighters, dropships and other smaller spacecraft that may attempt to intrude into Fortress Dosuun’s airspace. There are twenty such towers, staffed with a garrison of Prefsbelt Auxiliaries. The Flak Towers due to their reinforced structures can act as field artillery centres and holdouts, holding out against sustained assault.
  • Checkpoint Bespin: The Conveyex lines from outside of the Final Redoubt all pass through one checkpoint, checkpoint Bespin. It is here, all cargo is scanned and organised for departure further into the Final Redoubt.

The Inner Perimeter is far less accessible. While Prefsbelt Command made great pains to flatten the earth around the Outer Perimeter for agricultural and field testing capabilities, the Inner Perimeter is where defences tighten. Now thoroughly beneath the defensive shield of Fortress Dosuun, defensive lines tighten and harden in the inner perimeter, as does the terrain. While Prefsbelt Command saw to the smoothing of land for rolling plains, these now turn to steep hills watched over by bunkers, with overlapping fire from Fortress Dosuun. Trenches, pillboxes and bunkers now overlook the plains, with armed guards at the ready at any time.
  • Black Site Omikron: Not even the most senior Prefsbelt Command personnel truly know what exactly persists here, apart from a few privileged members of its Special Warfare Command. Black Site Omikron houses the experimental arm of the Command, pursuing special interest research on biological subjects. Subjects are typically taken either from wounded labourers from Camp Harlov, or privately procured subjects purchased via bounty hunters. The Black Site is one of the few locations to have its own self-destruct mechanism, with the upper levels able to be caved in. The cells where subjects are stored have a fail safe to ensure compliance, with security able to release deadly gas into the detention level.

  • The Rax Line: One portion of the Inner Perimeter sits on a lower incline than the rest, making for easier access. Admiral Karlist Rax was put in charge of changing that. The Rax Line is a physical wall, that runs for two kilometers, and deters such access, with a series of dug in bunkers, supported by artillery pieces and a seven meter high wall, with guard towers and supporting blasters mounted on the battlements. Hardly a sophisticated approach to the problem, but one easily fixed.
  • Sensor Station Hoth: One of the larger hills houses sensor station Hoth. It’s an advanced sensor array which sits and acts as a data tap, tapping into the transmissions beamed through New Imperial space and across the Galaxy. It does not however have capacity for immediate comms interception, but rather transmits such data to the Naval Quarter of Fortress Dosuun.
  • The Cassel Ring: Eight Cassel-Class anti-capital turbolasers sit as a part of the Inner Perimeters defences. They exist, using their facilities as both ad hoc command posts and hardpoints in case of invasion. But also as checkpoints and garrisoning positions for soldiers on patrol. Their elevated position compared to the plains providing a prime position for observation posts.

Fortress Dosuun is a terrifying sight to behold. Although not really visible from a birds eye view, once you stand before it, it becomes clear what it is. Literally carved from a mountain range, a series of six mountains have been hollowed and turned into a gargantuan military facility, housing legions of fanatical Stossjagers and Auxiliaries. Large gatehouses have been carved into the mountain, bolstered by turbolaser batteries. On the higher peaks, larger and heavier turbolasers and artillery wait, primed to bombard anything that slips through either the shield or Outer Perimeter. Unlike the Battle of Hoth or other engagements, the planetary shield broadcast from it, is hidden well underground, ensuring only sabotage or concerted battle can disable it.
  • Kyber Vault: At the lowest levels of Fortress Dosuun’s vast underground bunker system, is the Kyber vault. Grand Admiral Rausgeber’s obsession with such crystals saw tonnes of them taken and mined from Pa’Desh and taken with him to Prefsbelt where he has stored them. Both for research potential and application in military science.
  • Food Storage: Camp Harlov and various other farming settlements across Prefsbelt IV grow food which is sent to Fortress Dosuun. While a vast portion of it is rationed, most of it is stored in silos, or packed into rations designed to feed defenders in times of siege.
  • Foundry: Fortress Dosuun holds assets for for the mass manufacture of weapons, armour and other military equipment. Nominally, the facility operates to be able to refit roughly four hundred units of infantry equipment a day, but can be escalated to two thousand in times of crisis or siege.

  • Alpine Batteries: Located on the higher peaks of the mountains, sit the alpine batteries. Installations designed to provide fire support either to the Outer Perimeter or to provide concerted anti-air fire in case of attempted assault on Fortress Dosuun.
  • The Nests: Fixated and built into the mountains, are several hangars. Each housing a wing of TIE starfighters and associated bombers. The Nests sit with full hangars and crews prepped for deployment at any time of the day.
  • The War Room: With surveillance bugs and at the very centre of Fortress Dosuun is the War Room. The War Room acts as a conference centre, designed to be one of the very few sectors of the Final Redoubt to be seen by outsiders. Clearance for meetings is adhered to only by the very highest echelons of Prefsbelt Command or by personal invitation.

Civilian Accommodations within the Redoubt.

  • Naval Quarter: Staffed by veterans of the former First Imperial Navy, the Naval Quarter is a section of Fortress Dosuun set on three objectives. The design of brand new naval vessels for the New Imperial Navy. Analysis of communications data intercepted by Sensor Station Hoth, and finally the analysis of battle tactics used by the New Imperial Order’s enemies and the Order itself.
  • Section Nine: Section Nine is apart of the far larger medical sector, and triage centre, dedicated to research on biological enhancement. Either through the form of gene therapy or cybernetic enhancement. Nominally Section Nine develops prosthesis for wounded soldiers, but the scientists working there’s real goal has been that of the recreation of the old Death Trooper program.

  • The Villas: Some small natural valleys were preserved through the construction of Fortress Dosuun, ideal for civilian living. Most of the civilian population of Fortress Dosuun abodes in these fortified communities high up in the mountains. They are the nominal accommodations for the civilian population, with commissaries and other
  • The Redoubt: Key to the Redoubt, is accommodations for civilians and military personnel in case of siege. Hardly comfortable, the accommodations have been deemed a necessity by planners. They feature their own water purifier, sealed air supply and access to the Food Storage, and some small scale artificial agricultural gardens far below the surface.

SECURITY
Maximum: The Final Redoubt is what it says it is. The final stand of Prefsbelt Command and a sect of the former First Order. It is designed ostensibly as an impregnable fortress, with two layers of outer defences to defend against protracted assault, and then a fortress proper fitted with a vast network of underground bunkers, vaults and laboratories. Then there is the garrison. Hundreds of thousands of Prefsbelt Auxiliaries, backed by battle hardened Stossjaegers provide the garrison, the highest concentration of such forces in New Imperial service. On top of that, there is also the wings of TIE fighters, heaped up in their nests and In terms of broader security, the Final Redoubt acts as a supporting asset in naval combat with six hypervelocity guns and eight Cassel-Class anti-capital turbolasers able to assist forces in orbit.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
When Prefsbelt Command was formed, it was decided that while logistically speaking, Nova Avalonia and the settlement would act as the de jure capital, Grand Admiral Rausgeber despised the concept. Avalonia proper had been the capital of the First Order, and it was wantonly ravaged by genocidal enemies therein. Such events left a deep scar, a burning one in the psyche of Prefsbelt Command’s officers and leadership. Ergo, when the time for a command centre was decided, it was considered best for such a base of operations to hold them in a fortified locale. And where better, than the wilderness of Prefsbelt IV?

After some scouting, the Aradan Mountain range was decided to be an ideal location. The mountains nearby foot hills could be terraformed, and the rock density of the range was considered to be more durable to potential orbital bombardment. So, as soon as the resources were allocated, work began. First the hills for a fifteen kilometer radius were effectively wiped clean. Terraformed and bulldozed to become fertile ground for the planting of crops. Next came the actual fortress. Tunnels were burrowed into the foot of the gargantuan mountains. Logistically, it was a challenge at first, but Prefsbelt Command found that they could persevere, and did so, creating a vast complex of facilities in and around the mountains.

The construction process for Fortress Dosuun took a roughly six months, with the further Inner Perimeter another three to finalise the shoring up of defences. The final phase of such development occurred with the Outer Perimeter and the establishment of the flak towers on the perimeter. Finally, the populace was moved in, and a conveyex line established between Fortress Dosuun and the city of Nova Avalonia.
