JEDI TEMPLE
CORUSCANT

Within the Jedi temple halls, a giant wept. Slouching on a bench in the room of many fountains, tears streamed down Hion's face. He felt the pain of millions as a planet mourned the loss of thousands. The Senate was destroyed. Hundreds of senators were dead. Many of them had been his friends. Now their souls rested in the Great Ocean. Time had passed, but it didn't matter. The wound was still too fresh.

What's more, with the election of the new Grandmaster, Hion feared for the course of the Jedi and the Republic as a whole. Their recent campaigns were... aggressive. So much death in the galaxy, it sent shivers along his spine. How much of it was necessary? He understood the need for preserving order through use of force, but... how far was too far. And the blood he had spilled, not with his flippers or saber, but merely with his voice. He had shouted men and women to pieces. Memories of blood-smeared walls and dismembered bodies, blown apart as if by an explosion, flooded his mind. Then he remembered his greatest failure at the Jedi Archives. He had failed to stop Velok and he had failed the Order. Velok had pushed him over the brink and Hion had lashed out blindly at hurt his brothers and sisters. The blood-craving he so often struggled with, part of the Koodans curse, had gotten the better of him. Most Herglics were peaceful, but some had such an urge for violence that... that... Hion hunched further.

Grief mingled with crushing remorse and changed to fear. He was capable of so much destruction. It terrified him, not because he could do it, but because he knew that part of him actually enjoyed it. Nothing could compare to the thrill of the fight. And he found himself constantly on the verge of succumbing to that thrill, but he knew where that path led. And it filled him with fright. Perhaps he should avoid any contentious confrontation altogether and become a hermit, far away from conflict and violence. In isolation, he could have control. But he was a Herglic. And his species had a natural tendency for games of chance. For the gamble, to go against all odds. That thrill of being on the edge, of taking risks, it made life worth living.

He would be a very poor hermit. But perhaps-

The doors opened hissed open behind him and he was suddenly assailed by a crushing headache and a sense of nausea. Something evil had come into this room. Hion turned around slowly, fearful, but saw only a padawan human male of about age sixteen, holding something in his hands and looking at it with a perplexed expression.

"Padawan Toth?" Hion rumbled. "There is a darkness around you..." His flipper moved to the greatsaber on his belt slowly.

The Padawan looked up at Hion. His eyes were a raw red and irises a liquid gold. Hion started, alarmed. "Knight Hion... do you hear it?" The boy's voice was strange, almost monotone, and his eyes slightly glazed.

"Hear? I hear nothing but the sound of the fountains..."

Frowning, the Padawan looked back to the item in his hands: a cylinder of black with a bronze dragon wrapping around it. "Listen. Can you hear it? The voice... it wants me to kill you, Knight Hion."

"Hauum, what?" Hion stood quickly, his massive 800 pound bulk rising to his full 7'2" height. He unclipped the greatsaber from his belt as he stood.

"I'm sorry, Knight Hion... but, I want to kill you. I have to kill you. Do you hear it?"

Snap-hiss. A violet blade flecked with red sprang to life in the boy's hands, emitting from the jaws of a dragon. An ancient evil radiated from that saber. Hion took a step back. The very activation of the blade filled the room with the crackling energy of the Dark Side. Hion had no choice. He activated his own blade. The ocean blue greatsaber sprang to life.

"Padawan Tosh, stop this at once! Padawan T-"

The boy attacked, faster than Hion thought possible. The violet blade snicked in and out, darting and weaving in the forms of Ataru as the boy began to leap about the room, performing acrobatics a fully-fledged Jedi Knight would admire. Hion fought back using his preferred form of Shien. He was not the greatest duelist in the Order, but he certainly was not the weakest. Each blow smote aside the boy's blade, opening Tosh up to a counterattack, but Hion did not take the opening. He did not wish to hurt the boy, yet the urge to fight, the thrill of battle, began filling up his mind. Red started to come in at the edges of his vision, but he kept up the struggle to hold it back. He would not give in to his emotions. He was a Jedi Knight.

The headache and feeling of nausea grew until Hion could barely think. And he felt the source of all these negative emotions: that dolorous blade.

The room of many fountains was filled with the sizzling sound of lightsabers colliding again and again. At last, the boy took advantage of Hion's restraint and rolled underneath a high horizontal swing, thrust as he came up to one knee. The violet blade pierced Hion's side and he instantly felt as if he had been plunged into the deepest, darkest, and - most of all - coldest ocean. The cold was so intense and piercing that it felt as if he had been flash frozen. Every muscle in his body tensed up and he let out a wailing cry of unbelievable agony. At once, his serenity shattered like glass. It was instantly replaced with unadulterated rage.

His vision went red.

The Dark Ocean roared within him, filling him with hideous strength.

The boy withdrew the blade and prepared to strike again, finishing Hion off, but black, merciless eyes locked upon Tosh and he faltered. The blue greatsaber flashed, severing both of Tosh's arms at the elbow. The boy stared in shock. Smoke curled from the cauterized stumps. The violet blade clattered to the floor and deactivated, but Hion was still filled with a lifetime's worth of withheld fury that now flooded out. Hion reached out and wrapped a giant flipper around the boy's neck, lifting him into the air. Then he bellowed fully in the boy's face.

"HAUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUM!"

The boy's head blew clean off. Blood, bone and flesh sprayed into a fine mist. Hion let Tosh's headless body fall to the floor with a thud.

The red tunnel slowly began to fade and Hion felt the pit of his stomach drop out. He sank to his knees. What had he done? WHAT HAD HE DONE?

Suddenly, the sound of footsteps sounded just outside the room. Hion stood hastily, picking up the Dark Side lightsaber as he rose.

It was a mistake.

He felt a sudden flood of intense emotion. He turned large, black eyes toward the door as a group of Jedi entered.

They saw him standing there, holding a weapon emanating the Dark Side, with a dead padawan at his feet. "I can explain" wouldn't cut it. And why should he have to explain? Why should he feel regret for what he had done? The boy had been the one who attacked him, not the other way around. The red began to creep back, slowly, into his sight.

Josh had been in the Temple at the time, tending to matters for the Council. Before he knew it though, he heard that familiar, earthshattering cry that unmistakably was from Hion. He'd heard it before at the Temple, when Velok and his men had attacked.... Were they attacking again?

"HION!" he could hear Josh cry, not too far from where he was. Josh had dropped everything and had broke off into a run, his lightsaber in his hand, activated. The dark blue blade hummed as Josh ran, until he finally found his fellow Jedi.

Josh himself looked like a mess. His eyes looked tired and in despair. Sleep hadn't been kind to him ever since the death of Saoirse Jenulia, and the four o'clock shadow on his face made it obvious he was in poor sorts because of it. Josh had worn his hood up when in public or in the Temple since, as he didn't want his fellow Jedi to worry, but the hood had flown off when Josh had broke into a run, and Hion could see his despair ridden face in full view when he arrived.

Josh stopped dead in front of his fellow Jedi, his eyes widening at the sight.

"Wh-wh-wha?" he cried, taking deep breaths. "Hion... What...."

Padawan Ru was within the temple at the time as well, she was helping one of the instructors with her class of younglings. While the instructor stepped out, she was standing in watching over their training until the lead instructor came back. That was when they all heard the massive cry that seemed to echo throughout the temple. It had indeed startled her, so she knew the young ones were.

The young Togruta had squinted her eyes, she had her arm out to calm the younglings, and she reassure them everything was fine. While she instructed them to continue their regime while she stepped out for a bit, she quickly made her way in the direction of where the sound came from. It didn't seem like there was many Jedi stationed here at this time, with the recent campaigns going on, most Jedi were probably in and out,

She noticed Jedi Master DragonsFlame running in that same direction, she quickly followed. Just a couple of feet in front of her she noticed the sudden halt of the master, and when she finally made it there she too noticed why his expressions became so alive. He had look as if he saw a ghost, and the sight was definitely much worse. Her eyes grew big, and she could believe what she was seeing. A Jedi standing over another it would seem. The victims head was gone, and so were parts of his arms. She shook her head in disbelief.

Carn stepped into the area, having heard the sound of cries, the hum of lightsabers, and the silence of death. Before he even set foot in the room, he knew what had happened. Yet he was taken aback when he saw Hion with a lightsaber in his flipper. Of all the Jedi he thought capable of committing an act like this, he had never dreamed that it would be Hion that fell in such a way. Tracyn, yes. Perhaps some of the Jedi that had left to the Army of Light, also. But not Hion. Never hion.

However, he had a duty to perform. This was a sin above all others. Within an instant, his lightsaber was in his hand. A moment later, and the deep green of his blade had illuminated him. He advanced towards what could only be a now fallen Hion - his face was set in grim determination. To Carn, there was no option. Hion had taken the life of a young Jedi. Everything about him reeked of the Darkside.

"Master Dragonsflame. Your emotions- Keep them in check. As for you..." he pointed his lightaber at Hion... "You will lay down your lightsaber immediately, kick it away from your body, and submit yourself to the custody of the High Council. I will not ask this twice. Fail to do so, and I wil be forced to disarm you myself. Resist that, and... well. Nobody wants that outcome. Do the right thing."

His words were stern. His mind was focused. Hion would give himself to the council's judgements willingly, or he would find himself in lightsaber combat. And in this situation, Carn would utilise nothing but Juyo to put down this apparent threat to the security of the Jedi Order. It was not a thought he wished to entertain, but it could be that Hion would leave him with no other choice but to defend the Order, lightsaber first. It was his duty, and duty came above all.

"Carn...." he said quietly. "This doesn't seem right. Arrest him if you have to, but don't harm him. This just seems..."

He facepalmed with his free hand. "You're all going to kill me for this, but it sounds.... Fishy"

The unintentional pun aside, Josh took a breath as he studied Hion's face. Like Carn, he thought the same.... Hion would never have done this... Never Hion... But what was going on? What had driven him to do such an act?

Josh yelled back to a droid that was passing in the hallways. "I want a copy of the security footage in this room, ASAP!" in a commanding, serious tone. "I want to know what happened here, and as soon as you get the footage, I want that sent to the High Council!"

Looking back at Carn and Hion, Josh shook his head in disbelief. "Hion...." he said quietly. "What's going on...?"

Cale had come the second he'd heard the Whale's piercing cries. Dashing pas a group of younglings guarded by his brother's padawan, he skidded to a halt as the grisly sight filled his eyes. Blood, meat, and bone were splayed everywhere from Hion's outburst. The Jedi Sentinel didm''t reach for his sabers, not yet. "Hion, calm down. Let's sort this out." He said calmly, reinforcing what master DragonsFlame had said before. Something was wrong, he'd known Hion a time ago, and this didn't seem like something he'd do. Ever.

Tracyn stood behind Josh, appearing in a way that made him seem more ghost like. There was a rigidness to him, a certain panther-like movement as he stepped towards Hion. Tracyn curled his crushgaunted fingers. The amount of gore that Hion produced was nigh-sickening. Tracyn slowly walked up to Hion, and placed his hands to the bloodstains, running his hand over the armless and headless body. He spoke calmly, a voice that was controlling his own desires to do the same to Hion as revenge, but Tracyn knew that it would make him no better than him, so he suppressed them and simply posed a question to Hion.

"Hion.."He began, using his name to try and identify him on a personal level."Please go with Master Dista."He was disappointed, that much was obvious. Ionized Mandalorian iron gauntlets cruised away from the puddle of blood to his face, holding it in temporary emotional recovery, but then a stoic look came back over his face. He simply stared up at Hion, right within range of his deadly haaaums. Tracyn was unafraid of Hion, and he hoped Hion was unafraid of him. Tracyn didn't want to provoke him, he actually wanted him to go with Carn if at all possible.

Meta had heard screams and the ignition of blades. He ran as fast as he could, reaching the scene of the crime. He noted several jedi including his master surrounding the remains of a padawan and Hion. Meta could feel the darkside reasonating, behind the large Jedi he stood, his blade ignited with it held in both hands, taking note of the red Lightsaber. "Put down the Lightsaber." He said, standing behind him in a defensive stance, he remained there, slowly counting up the amount of Jedi there were around him. "Put it down Hion." He said again, feeling uneasy about pointing his saber at another Jedi.

"Tracyn, give Hion some space, please" Josh requested, not wanting to make his fellow Jedi anymore uncomfortable then he likely already was. He just wanted Carn to arrest him already and get to the bottom of this... Where had this situation gone wrong? What had caused all of this?

Hion's eyes were wide and frantic, glancing between the Jedi gathered. He took a step back at @[member="Carn Dista"]'s words, flippers tightly gripping the hilts of both lightsabers. Then @[member="Tracyn Ordo"] took stepped forward and started playing with the pool of blood like a child, smearing those ruby droplets across his gauntlets. Hion looked from Tracyn to Dista to the lightsabers in his flippers. The splitting headache continued to rip into his skull and his chest heaved. The muscles in his arms and chest clenched as frustration mounted.

"The right thing... the right thing..." Inwardly, the battle for Hion's allegiance raged, a hurricane of emotions as dark struggled with light. He stretched out his arm, staring at the saber in his flipper, on the verge of dropping it. It whispered to him then. A dark, ancient voice, full of power.

I am Derriphan. Are you my new master? Who are these people? They don't trust you, can you feel it? They want you dead. Are you going to kill them, Hion? You should kill them. Let us kill them! Let me taste their flesh!

Hion's sonorous bass voice boomed through the room, "I did the right thing, Dista. The boy attacked me, I defended myself. Are you here to attack me too?" Hion's dark eyes fastened on Tracyn. "Stay back. Dragonsflame, Ru, all of you, stay back!"

Meta stayed in his position, not faltering under any circumstance. "You ate a danger to yourself and others right now Hoin. Put down that Sith saber!" He demanded, pressing with his blade. Making his point clear that he wouldn't back down. He didn't want to hurt Hoin, but. If the worst came to pass. He was prepared to do what was necessary. "Please Hoin.." He asked again, keeping himself steady and firm.

Ella had been beside Carn Dista, when suddenly her Jedi Master had took off and so she followed, trying to keep up with him. It hadn't been a long time since she had arrived on Coruscant alongside Carn, following their meeting in the meditation gardens on Tython, inside the Jedi Temple there. She was still getting used to how busy it was in this temple compared to the one on Tython.

When she arrived, just behind Carn, she remained in the background, watching. She was astounded by what she saw. It was surprising to see such an act inside the Jedi Order. Was this what it meant to be at war with the Sith Empire? She couldn't allow her emotions or thoughts to dictate what she did next. This was up to the senior Jedi to handle. "Meta, you should really stay out of this," she said from the doorway. Stepping over the threshold, she closed it. This was to ensure that Hion was arrested, with hope that it would be a peaceful transition; and to stop anymore Jedi seeing the atrocity that he had caused.

The Jedi Padawan did not draw her Lightsaber yet. She was hopeful that Form Zero would be sufficient in this task; and besides, she wouldn't be a match to Hion in a Lightsaber duel, if it came to that. She could only do what was in her means to do so.

Mets nodded to both Ella and his master, deactivating his blade but still holding it in hand, his finger remained on the ignition, as he was ready for Hoin to go berserk at any moment. He steadied himself, allowing calmness to flow through him.

Her eyes squinted because she could sense all of the emotions running rampant at the moment. She didn't understand exactly what was transpiring. She had no intention of engaging in battle with the master, she had only wanted him to surrender so the council could further access the situation. Her right arm was held up, vertical in front of her body. Her left slightly bent at her side. Her hands clenched, but not to the point of a fist. She clenched when the distressed knights massive voice filled the room. As the others tried to calm him, she noticed the design of the unusual lightsaber within his hand. She hadn't seen anything like that before. It had an ominous aura about it. She began to ponder. She had certainly never came across something of that design with all her time she spent in the archives. There was more to this, missing pieces to the story.

Cale stood with Josh and simply nodded in agreement to Joshua's statement, whatever was in that saber was corrupting the noble Jedi that was Hion. Tensions were building and Meta wasn't helping, even as he backed off he kept his weapon drawn, probably further antagonizing the Helgaric. A single force bellow risked killing everyone in the room. If Meta got him killed, he'd kill him. It didn't have to make sense. K?

With so many campaigns, missions, and battles that he was involved in across the Galaxy, Flint had rarely had the chance to visit Coruscant and the Jedi Temple. This week, however, was somewhat a week off for the Jedi Knight, and he had chosen to come to the temple in the Galactic City to take some time to meditate on the troubling times that faced the Republic. His meditation was interrupted by an anguished cry, and he like the many other Jedi, headed to the source of the commotion.

It really wasn't a pleasant sight. One that did not differ all too much from what happened in battlefields all the time, but to find such a disturbing scene here inside the very home he grew up in was a little disturbing to say the least. Flint immediately noticed who the Herglic male was, the one who looked to be responsible. He was that senator, Flint realized, he had seen the Herglic senator once on holo-channel last time the Senate was in session.

It appeared thankfully as though that the situation was under control by Master DragonsFlame and Dista, but the unusually odd presence that radiated from Hion concerned Flint. There appeared as though there were some Jedi that were feeling more aggressive then others, and Flint was glad when they were restrained from starting a fight. Why Hion looked so confused was beyond him, but Flint felt as though things could easily get out of hand pretty quickly. Something was about to start, Flint could feel it. He motioned for any curious younglings nearby to leave the scene.

Tracyn's eyes narrowed. He was still, perfectly. He closed his eyes, breathing in deeply. When he opened them, they were more focused, more intent than before. He stared at Hion, unflinching, unafraid. He didn't move for a long time, he let the other Jedi around him form around him. Hion had nowhere to go, with all the exits covered. Tracyn calmed his mind, and then spoke.

"Hion, you did defend yourself. That is true. But do you really think this.."He gestured his hand to the brutally slain boy before them."Was the right thing to do of a Jedi Knight?"He said, tilting his head calmly.

Ella wasn't particularly skilled at focusing or manipulating the force just yet. She hadn't spent a long time under the guidance of Master Dista and she had only spent time meditating on the force, as well as learning some of the basic techniques Jedi used in their peace keeping efforts. Still, she tried to help the best she could be focusing the force to sooth and help calm Hion. She knew that when a Jedi used Form Zero in situations such as this, they would try anything and everything other than the use of a Lightsaber to help diffuse the situation. As Jedi such as Masters Dista, DragonsFlame, Ordo and Padawan Meta talked Hion into standing down, Ella used the force to calm the Jedi Knight down.

She wasn't particularly powerful, so it was unlikely that it would assist in Hion siding with his Jedi training, rather than the Sith voice speaking in his ear.

Standing in the outskirts of the area, Daella watched the situation play out. She stood near a fountain. Her right hand rested on the lightsaber hilt on her belt. Blue eyes drifted to the weapon in @[member="Hion the Herglic"]’s hand - the one that seemed to be tainted by the dark side of the Force.

Then, Daella’s eyes shifted to the body of Padawan Tosh. She knew of the boy. She was no more than a couple years older than him, and thus frequently sparred with him when she herself was a Padawan. The two had a one-sided rivalry - Daella had the clear advantage.

For whatever reason that Tosh never confided to another, he continued to pursue Daella in some sort of manner. Before she was knighted, it was always a contest of strength. Afterwards, the boy sought lessons of his superior. His tenacity plagued Daella for months. Yet during that time, Tosh managed to learn a few vital lessons in lightsaber combat. In the fight against Hion, Tosh managed to pose a danger and know when to exploit weaknesses in an enemy because of Daella.

Despite the little difference in age, Tosh even began to consider asking Daella to take him as an official apprentice. This had been something the boy told others.

Yet, the boy had not displayed such tendencies for evil - any of the other Jedi present - before this day.

After her gaze hovered over Tosh’s broken body, Daella turned her eyes toward his killer. She relaxed her right arm - allowing it to drop to her side, thus moving her hand away from the saber hilt. Then, Daella took slow, silent steps toward the group.
