Zaiya
gasped like the galaxy itself had just wobbled off its axis, her bioluminescent mottled spots flickering in a startled pink-white sparkle, before immediately shifting into a dramatic swirl of golden distress as she looked down at the pastries like they were wounded soldiers.
"My snack squad--!" she blurted, clutching the rescued bundle closer to her chest. Then she froze, the Lovalla still for a moment as she had the most sheepish expresison over her delicate glowing face.
A few blink then slowly, those opal blue eyes lifted to Vess, all wide eyed and shimmering like she had just witnessed a miracle performed entirely with hand-eye coordination.
As if she wasn't a Jedi Knight herself who could have done exactly that, but hey, panic is as panic does when it comes to food and wanting to make sure it didn't splatter on the ground.
"You… caught it," she said, hushed with awe all delightfully impressed "
You caught it mid-fall. That was TOTALLY Jedi-level pastry intervention."
Of course, her bright beaming grin only made the colorshifting dazzle as a vibrant bright orange tinted her freckles with curiosity, sending little pulses of delighted teal along her arms as her bracelets jingled.
"I'm okay! Emotionally recovering," she added quickly, nodding quickly as if that clarified everything.
"Physically? Also okay. Spiritually? Deeply grateful to you and your heroic reflexes."
Zaiya shifted the pastries in her arms, then leaned in just a tiny bit, lowering her voice conspiratorially.
"I named them, you know," she whispered.
"This one's Cinnamon Courage, that one's Berry Brave, and that one--" she pointed with her chin, since her hands were full,
"--that one's Greg. Greg was not ready to die today."
There was this sort of hilariously awkward pause as the a few passerbys just
stared at the pair. Not that Zaiya cared about it. She was used to people staring. Then the next instant, the Lovalla KNight straightened, beaming at Vess like she'd just adopted her.
"You saved Greg," she declared with an even
brighter grin
. "Well, until Greg is safe in my belly. Or Aris's. Hmmm... both? We do like to share." she chatted away like a little bird happily, then without warning, the Lovalla stepped sideways to match Vess's pace, clearly deciding this was now a
shared journey.
Mainly because she could sense Aris being in this direction.
"I'm Zaiya, by the way. Professional walker-into-people, part-time snack guardian," she added cheerfully.
"You seem like the kind of person who saves pastries and lives. Do you do both? Or is it more of a hobby situation?"
It was then that Zaiya's head gave a slight cant, feeling the resonance from Aris. There was some concern coming through her necklace. It wasn't immediate.. but.. hrmmm...
What could it be?
