*This is a message you would receive upon landing

The administrative droid hums to life, its mechanical voice revving up:

Greetings, and welcome to The Eadu Practicum. I am PADI, the practicum administrative droid intelligence charged with assisting master Jade in the management of this immersive training program. I would like to extend a warm welcome to all of you who have made the journey to this remote planet in pursuit of Jedi knowledge.

We are honored to have you here and we know that the path ahead will be challenging, but also rewarding. Our Master, Romi Jade, has developed a unique and rigorous training program that will test your skills, strengthen your connection to the Force, and prepare you for the challenges that lie ahead.

As you may have already experienced, Eadu is a world of unpredictable weather and rugged terrain. But do not be discouraged, the retreat’s program was designed by Master Jade herself. Throughout the program, you will be immersed in the ways of the Jedi, and will be challenged to reach new heights of Jedi mastery, all under the guidance of Master Jade and her experienced instruction. You will face physical and mental challenges, and you will be pushed beyond your limits. But in doing so, you will unlock your full potential and become stronger, more focused, and more connected to the Force.

But this journey is not one that can be undertaken alone. That is why you are here, in this community of like-minded individuals, all seeking to unlock the full potential of their abilities. Take the time to get to know your fellow trainees, to share your stories and your insights, and to support each other as you face the challenges ahead.

This is your itinerary for the first 2 days of the retreat:

  • Arrival & welcome orientation.
  • Introduction to the training program and assessment of each participant's current skills.
  • Benefits of training in harsh environments
  • Progressive muscle relaxation techniques, and diaphragmatic breathing exercises.
  • Mindfulness, and meditation on emptiness.

Included in this message are the coordinates to the cliffside sanctuary above. You will find that after you dock, there are beacons placed along the pathway up. It is Master Jade’s intention that you proceed with a mild hike from here through the elements. These beacons will produce a red flash every 30 seconds, they are there to guide you along a predetermined route that should take you through the least hazardous path to the sanctuary above.

I am here to assist you in any way I can, whether it is in scheduling your training sessions, providing you with information about Eadu, or answering any questions you may have. Please do not hesitate to approach me at any time during your stay.

Once again, welcome to The Eadu Practicum. May the Force be with you all.

OOC:
Description:
The Eadu Practicum
is a retreat and immersive training experience designed for those seeking to develop their skills in the ways of the Force, led by Jedi Master Romi Jade, where she will guide you through an intensive Jedi training program. The retreat will take place on the planet Eadu, a remote, rugged, and mountainous planet

located in the Outer Rim Territories. The blue-hued world is shrouded in gloomy rainstorms, wind, and lightning strikes, and a location specifically selected to test the mental and physical conditioning of all those who participate.

Participants will learn Jedi philosophy and techniques, train in lightsaber combat, and hone their skills in the Force. This is a unique opportunity to learn from one of the most experienced Jedi Masters in the galaxy and to immerse oneself in lessons and traditions not always explored in the day to day of the Jedi Order. The challenging terrain and harsh weather of Eadu will test participants' endurance and resilience, while Master Jade's instruction will challenge their skills and push them to their limits. The program itself draws upon Master Jade's own experiences and training methods, ensuring that each participant receives personalized instruction and guidance on their journey to becoming a Jedi.

This is a training thread that will be a part of an ongoing series of threads focusing on different things over the course of different days, so please feel free to hop in and out where it fits you and your character – it’s encouraged.

This will run at a mild pace for a month and a week or so, covering a couple of days at a time – So as not to rush folks through their creative process and give time to craft something interesting to read. There are elements left ambiguous on purpose so that all the writers can world build together; feel free to add your two cents. For the first couple of weeks we'll get through introductions, and getting the characters positioned and acquainted, and the next phase will deal with the training aspect of it for the following weeks until the end.

Will continue to move the story ahead when needed, but feel free to keep your own pace, and have your own side dialogue/interactions, but I don’t want it to stall as people are dropping in and out or handling their own RL responsibilities. Please feel free to exit if you need to. Wanna give everybody grace and opportunity here.

The focus of this training thread revolves around Romi’s personal training program, so the content will be coming from there – these threads will not be taking folks through the whole program/philosophy outlined in the submission, but will focus more on the communal aspect of writing and pulling bits and pieces from the content to drop in as one off lessons. This can be for any level of Jedi, maybe it’s something you didn’t know but want your character to learn in order to enhance the writing experience (your call at the eod.)

Remember -- The program is written to be tough, intense, and taxing. It’s a rigorous program, on a remote world with unpredictable weather and rugged terrain, it’s supposed to pose a challenge to whomever is undertaking it, despite what they’re entering in with.

TL;DR:
  • Timeline: Month & a week 5/8-6/12 (tentative)
  • Breakdown: First couple of weeks would be intros/getting into position etc usual rp stuff, next couple of weeks will go through the training. (tentative)
  • Reminder: The program is suppose to be tough, intense, and rigorous, on a remote world with unpredictable weather and rugged terrain, it’s supposed to be a challenge.
  • This is not a closed thread. Feel free to hop in if you missed the LFG. (Jedi chars and such)

If you have any questions or want to reach out to me for anything -- I'm always happy to chat!

Discord Handle is: Romi Jade (Sochi)#5597

The planet Eadu is a rugged and unforgiving world, known for its unpredictable weather patterns and treacherous terrain. Mountains loom on the horizon, their peaks shrouded in thick mist that rolls down the slopes and obscures everything in its path. Rain storms are frequent and intense, pounding against solid sheets of rock with a force that can knock the unwary off their feet. Strong winds whip across the landscape, carrying with them the scent of damp earth and the chill like an impending winter.

The first day of the retreat was about to begin, but the Jedi participants had yet to arrive.

She had collided with these howling winds before, she owed much to this planet; this was where she spent months studying with the Bendu, but now she hadn’t felt the traces of the weight the neutral being held in the Force since she touched down – she suspected he was long gone by this point.

Though, she could be wrong.

“This is Zark's fault for sure…” well she had been on a lengthy leave of absence from active duty, now she was teaching again.

d4fk3MG.jpg
Situated atop a high ledge, was a stone structure that was crudely carved into a cliffside. This modest sanctuary was nestled into its peak, and really was a feat of mild engineering and simple design, much with the inclusion of what was already naturally there. It consisted of at least one chamber that contained meditation plinths and a large training room that was circular, with a high vaulted ceiling that was supported by columns that seemed to have grown out of the rock. The sound of flowing water could be heard from a small nearby waterfall that cascaded down the cliff face, having formed from erosion, cutting through the large central chamber before naturally sinking to the bottom of the cliff through a series of smaller canals.

A soft glow illuminated the room, emanating from the holographic projection of the Jedi symbol at its center, and the large stone lanterns fixtures situated into the ceiling. Their flickering light cast dancing shadows across the walls, making it seem like the carvings and surface details of the stone around them were alive.

A vantage point with a meditation ledge overlooking the strong rivers of mist that covered most of the planet's surface was accessible from the chamber; this is where she was, her blonde mane beating to the motion of irregular gusts, her eyes closed and her mind focused.

“I also haven’t heard from Valery Noble Valery Noble …not like her” Her voice was barely audible but it resonated within her head. Then in a quick jolt of movement her head shot up, a faint hum echoed in the distance. It grew louder, and soon the source of the sound revealed itself; she realized it was a ship.

“PADI, go ahead and transmit your welcome messages, and hit the switch on those flashers along the path. We’ve got activity.”

Those flashers were signals that flashed an amber-ish red, denoting the path to follow on the way up. It’d be a decent hike up, but she had it structured this way on purpose. This was included in her instructions for arrival, among leaving behind any unnecessary possessions.

The temple, which wasn’t much in the way of those seen on Coruscant – it was small, and it was quiet, save for the gentle trickle of running water and the distant sound of rain falling outside. The air was thick with the scent of incense and the faint hint of something earthy and organic, which added to the tranquil atmosphere of the space. There was a sense of reverence and serenity that permeated the space, and Romi seemed to be completely in tune with it.

The construction wasn’t much different than what Romi favored in training facility designs – preferring those based on other small training facilities like Telos, Dantooine, and even Jakku. There may have been other small cells, chambers, and corridors carved into the stone.

The anticipation reverberated throughout the sanctuary like an echo.

She waited.

The jedi master had been rather excited when Romi put out the chance... her newest style.. her works were grand and where Matsu seemed to focus more and more on the external.. on seeing what mysteries, what wonders could be found and done with the force... Romi was improving many thing sin terms of training. So the jedi master and silvers grandmaster was looking to head in to aid as much as she could while the Jedi Choushin Vessel moved around her feet and up her arm. Nuzzling her neck for a small grin that the jedi master could pet and give her some food. The journey to Eadu would be... okay she was lying in ways.. they had worked on travel and making it so a jedi could get around the galaxy quickly enough to respond.

The High Plane from her office was the most important part while she was walking through the halls. Wearing her robes. as the silver of them gleamed in the light of the surrounding suns. MOre so her hair back in a braid with the kyber bells and beads... each step making a small jingle sound. Her eyes traced the visual map while she expanded her senses across the force... reaching in... weaving and to her the scent of jasmine came... the force breathed around an dshe could feel Romi.. she would feel the force and galaxy around her. She breathed in and then she stood there as the bunny cat thrilled in excitement. Looking at the area around herself and towards Romi offering a bow. The displacement of the air around shimmering and whisps of lightside force energy.

"Master Jade."

“We’re almost there, you’re doing great Lil, just a little further.” Briana's voice echoed above the relentless pounding of the rain, mud sucking at her boots with every step as she trudged the unforgiving terrain, guiding her Padawan, Lily, along the path and towards their destination.

Despite the harsh conditions, Briana felt a thrill of both exhilaration and nostalgia course through her veins. Having trained with Romi during her own Padwan days on Ossus, she had a vague notion of the trials that lay ahead. The journey would undoubtedly test them both, pushing them to their limits and beyond.

Pausing her brisk pace, she waited a moment to allow Lily to catch up. By now, she was well attuned to the subtle vibrations of the Force, and could easily feel Lily's apprehension and the doubts emanating from her as a palpable aura. Her Padawan's struggle with controlling her abilities had been a long process that they’d worked tirelessly at, carefully re-wiring Lily's perspective of herself and the Force, one step at a time.

Bringing her to Eadu was a bold gamble, but one that she was hopeful would bear fruit, determined to see Lily through it. There was little doubt in her mind that the program's structured and rigorous approach would serve as a catalyst to help Lily break through her limitations and rise to new heights, forcing her thought process to shift from fear, to pragmatism. It was a transformation that she’d not only seen before, but experienced herself. The sheer intensity of the training became a distraction for the mind, a way to silence the inner critic and focus on the present moment.

Her lips pulled into a lopsided smile as Lily came closer, patting her on the shoulder, the peak of the cliffside sanctuary finally coming into view. “How you holding up?”

Briana had sent a sudden message about a training session being held on some planet far and away from Lossa's usual flyaway places.

With all that had happened, between their meeting at the hospital, and the events that had unfolded on Naboo, their wasn't much in the way of Lossa ignoring something Briana suggested. If it meant bettering ones self, well. This was certainly a chance to see what the strong-handing of medical procedures could do for her now by Briana Sal-Soren Briana Sal-Soren 's hand.

The Buzzard had made a less than admirable landing with the turbulence that seemed to ebb and flow around the pad. Skid warbling in worry behind her as she did her best to maintain the back and forth control until they'd come close enough to mitigate the winds.

Scanning the area had revealed others already touched down or even trudging up the path. The flashing red beacons alarming until the automated message had cleared up exactly what those had meant. The former belief of their being landing guiders dismissed quickly after staring in strained disdain at the idea of trying to make sense of them.

But the moment had passed, and with a solid promise of fetching Skid, she finished throwing her tarp over the ship to keep it covered for the moment.

Pulling on the poncho she'd picked up in the Outer Rim, she made sure the rest of her gear was firmly in place before eyeing up the hike ahead. Another time she might have balked at the idea. Briana wouldn't have thought much of it prior, but now Lossa had little excuse to avoid such a taxing trek.

"Almost wish you hadn't pushed me into a corner." She grumbled, wondering how far ahead her cousin was on the hike. Likely already to the top unless she had the padawan with her. Rose eyes squinted against a spray of rain, face flinching at the annoyance as the hood was pulled tighter.

"Think of it like a get away. You'll have a blast. Yeah okay." Further grumbles aside, she began her ascent, focusing on her breathing as she spied slide marks in the trail ahead. Pausing long enough to tilt her body upright to stare ahead through the mist. It seemed easier in one way the further up one went, but difficult in at least two others.

"Ahhck, fethin chit." Final grumbling and bellyaching put to rest for the moment as she began up once more, keeping the hood pulled enough to cover her eyes but not enough to lose sight of the beacons. More than once loosing grip or footing on the slick path and earning a few smears and scrapes.

SOMEWHERE BETWEEN DEFEAT AND ACCEPTANCE
OPEN

Regret sunk in not long after breaking atmo. Clapping thunder. Severe winds. Relentless rain. What was a small human flying in a ship compared to the brutality of a planet. Eadu — a place practically designed to break your spirit. Joland thought it was doing a pretty good job so far.

By the time Joland survived the flight and trudged through mud to the base of the cliff, he ran out of curse words.

Joland nodded and waved to any others who landed but hadn't started the journey to the summit. With frizzled hair and tired eyes, his glance met the pathway. He sighed, wishing he had a cup of caf.

At least he brought extra socks.

Arwen's personal transport ship, a severely outdated light interceptor, had certainly seen better days of service. The sound of the creaking landing gear echoed throughout the cockpit before the metallic legs connected with the solid ground after a long descent that had proved to be challenging for him under the unforgiving weather conditions. His piloting ability, although aided by the force, had severe room for improvement.

Arwen let out a relieved sigh, relieved to be back on solid ground and out of the death trap of a ship he had the displeasure of traveling in. He released his grip from the controls and immediately stretched his legs to ease any tension that had built up during the bumpy descent. His light blue eyes navigated the cockpit which had various signs of wear and tear that dominated the interior of the ship. The control panels had numerous buttons that were either missing or faded from use over time. If there was a prize for the worst ship in attendance, Arwen would have won it on arrival. A voice, that of an unfamiliar droid, interrupted him from critiquing his ship further and introduced him to the journey he was about to undertake.

Standing outside of his ship, he adjusted his robes and tightened the belt that brought his outfit together as one. A few ships were already in attendance and this eased Arwen, knowing others had already made the hike, or were making it. Maybe, just maybe he'd come across another invitee on the way and wouldn't have to make it all the way on his own. The hood of his robes was raised, preventing the harsh winds from colliding with the tanned skin of his face that was already stone cold. Arwen stared ahead and noticed a single pathway that illuminated with red flashes, an obvious indication as to where he was venturing. His eyes narrowed, attempting to locate the endpoint, but all of his efforts were made in vain due to the conditions that ravished the area and made it impossible to see. Hands buried deep inside his robes, he eagerly proceeded up the path.

They must be insane, he thought. He was only at the starting point and already questioning why he accepted the invitation. The unfamiliar planet wasn't what Arwen was expecting at all.

Squish, squish, squish. A yucky sound from the muddy ground that kept filling the air through the terrible conditions, thunderstorms that roared throughout the skies, winds that claps through the hair and robes of the struggling Zeltron, the roars of wind akin to a starfighter flying through the sky itself. Perhaps the worst of all? The sheets of water pouring from the sky as well, dampening and wetting the Zeltron. It felt like a sense of being submerged in water.

Despite this, he persevered. His master thought him worthy to take on this challenge and despite their different approaches and philosophies for the betterment of all in the galaxy, he took her word with great respect. A glowing recommendation and a level of confidence placed into him is what drove him to push against the harsh conditions. He doesn't see turning around as an option.

Crackling and tumbling came from above, an edge close to the path that saw a threat; a barrage of large rocks were hurtling towards the padawan. A cry of concentration shot out through the young man, hands raised in intuition as the air around him crackled with the force; blue shimmering light held up some of the rocks, however... he doesn't seem to be either strong enough nor trained enough, as he only stopped the first layer of large rocks; the second layer came crashing down to invalidate his efforts, threatening to seriously injure the young man. All he can think of is that damned message in this moment... "least hazardous path"

Technically I wasn't a Jedi, and to tell the truth, I don't think I was about that structured life and all of those rules. But Jedi were good people and my encounter with the witch Dreidi Xeraic Dreidi Xeraic had piqued my curiosity about what other sorts of force users she might encounter within their ranks. When Dreidi had mentioned the educational retreat in the wilderness, I thought why not?

Why not indeed... I had come to this planet as a hitchhiker, I refuse to own a space ship, and i refuse to own a speeder, i dont need them. But I didnt plan for the winds on this planet, i had flown, in hawk form as I was struggling for time, the nearly two hundred kilometres from the small refuge I had landed at to the meeting point suggested by Romi Jade Romi Jade . The winds, my spirits, the winds were intense and had I not had the force oj my side I could have been spun around and lost my way, but here i was, on approach to the group of padawans on the narrow mountain trail. I was hard to miss from the ground., in this form my wongspan was a metre and a half and I had feathers as red as my hair.

Moments before I landed i reverted to my humanoid form and nearly went tumbling trying to restrain my momentum, it was a clumsy landing but i was tired, I adored flying, but that was not fun. As I bundled past and recomposed myself I almost crashed into the pink form of Lossa Darcuhl Lossa Darcuhl , waving politely as I passed.

I finally came to a halt and adjusted my leathers before turning to the group, I was slightly out of breath but I would cope. "Hey, I'm Gweneth. Please say i'm in the right place for this Jedi event". Looking at the few that had gathered here, ready for the hike I could almost feel the force power flowing about, but what I could really feel was hunger. I pulled my backpack round and pulled out some fruit and meat which I hungrily devoured as we began our hike.

I looked up around me at the tall cliffs and the howling winds from the gathering storms. "I dont think I should fly again today."

The torrential rain and raging winds were unfamiliar to Loomi, though in this instance it seemed like a blessing far more than her cursed inexperience with the galaxy. She was bundled up tightly in a makeshift coat she wove together out of scraps of fabric, about the poorest looking jacket one could ever see. It was warm at least, and the plastic outside kept at least some of her dry.

All the mud was a different story, of course. At first, the Godoan had little issue treading it on account of her mechanical legs, but it wasn't long before her joints began to get gunked up with the stuff. A handful of padawans were making the journey as well. A lot of familiar faces, mainly friends she had met at various missions or events, and a good number of people she had never met before. Her concern always wandered back to Caden, however. Her master had just been cleared for activity again, but his injuries from Indoumodo were still a cause of great concern for her. She'd at least make sure she spared her master the occasional glance to make sure he was holding up.

Something was different up ahead, however. A shift in the vibrations of the force. There was a pocket of calm amidst a sea of chaos. Her antennae curled back at the thought of a roof alone.

"I-I think I feel it!" Loomi shouted back to her traveling party. "Th-the temple, I mean! It's just up ahead!"

She could still feel them all, so nobody had gotten blown away. At least she hoped. It was rather difficult to see with all the water in her eyes.

"I-is everyone okay!?"

There was no harm in checking. Just to be sure.

Though often self conscious of her height and muscular body, today Rosa was grateful for her sturdy build. It helped to keep her upright against the screaming winds of Eadu, and perhaps provide some unintentional relief for those behind the Tof's imposing figure.

As she squinted through the downpour, the novice healer clutched her standard issue Jedi cloak as tightly as she could to herself. The fabric was water-repellant, but the whipping wind made it easier for the zig-zagging raindrops to find purchase on her layered inner robes.

By contrast, she found Loomi's makeshift jacket quite fashionable. Rosa found the concept of high fashion confusing, wondering why petite holomodels proudly pranced around in what appeared to be torn clothing.

The Godoan's voice cut through the tempest. She'd felt—or sighted, somehow—their destination. Rosa's broad shoulders heaved with relief and she nodded.

"Yes."
She nodded. "YES.” She repeated louder on second thought, hoping that her response could be heard through the raging storm.

"LOOMI OKAY?"

Although tempestuous, Eadu had a familiarity with it for Ko. There were some clear similarities when comparing it to Dorin. But sadly he’d been away from his homeworld for over a decade now. So despite some possible ingrained experience built into his very genes. As an individual Ko wasn’t too well adapted to it.

Nonetheless the storm didn’t really bother him all that much. The rain pelted across his form which was covered in a traditional, hooded Jedi outer robe. The biggest annoyance was occasionally using his fingers like windshield wipers for his goggles. But that was hardly an issue for the Kel Dor as plenty of condensation was trapped behind his eye to keep his optical organs nice and hydrated.

Even recently Ko has had to deal with some bad weather on a mission with Jedi Master Valery Noble. He trekked along with his fellow padawans along the trail. Loomi seemed to be leading the group. He took that as a good sign considering what she’s been through lately. He still felt some guilt for practically ditching her back on Indoumodo. Ko still believed he made the right move. Hearing her and some of the others around call out that they’re doing alright Ko brought his digits up to wipe away some of the water that collected on his goggles. Temporarily blinding himself for just long enough to bump into Rosalina and her large form.

“Ope!” He exclaimed before looking up at her. “Oh Sorry about that Rosalina. I didn’t mean to run into you like that. My goggles keep fogging up out here.” Ko apologized and explained. Still rubbing one of his lenses as he did so. He understood she wasn’t all too great with words. But he wouldn’t disrespect the young woman by simplifying his speech. Worrying that would come off as condescending.

Bringing his hand back down from wiping he looked back up at the giantess and spoke again. “You excited about what we’re getting ourselves into? I know I am, but I’m a little nervous too.” Ko confessed, having started his more genuine padawan training a little later on than some of his contemporaries and without a master he worried that he might fall behind.

"There's no reason to be nervous."

It'd been too long since she last left Coruscant. Far too long since she stayed hiding away in her apartment, hiding behind her studies, her degree. She'd done that. Finally gotten herself the doctorate she'd been working on since she was a Padawan. But with it, she left behind the Jedi. Her training. Her training of her own Padawans. She gave the trio before her a brief smile as she shouldered her pack.

Inside it, her lightsaber was neatly folded in cloth. Hidden away. Perhaps today she'd be able to wield it again.

"But I suppose excitement and nervousness go hand in hand. I'm Iris. You three are the newer Padawan's, yes?"

"LOOMI OKAY?"

Loomi felt a smile come to her face. Rosalina's concern came across as so genuine. It was very endearing to hear from the taller girl, gentle in a way she didn't experience with many others.

"Yeah, I'm okay!" she assured with a warm smile. "Thank you."

Ko began talking about his excitement for arriving, though expressed nervousness as well. A frown came to Loomi's face. Was she nervous too? This was supposed to be rigorous training, so to that end she was nervous, but she hadn't really thought about it before this very moment. Strange...

Now she was thinking about how nervous she was, which threatened to make everything worse.

"There's no reason to be nervous."

A young woman had made her way up to them, one of the attending Jedi Knights. Now that she was closer, Loomi finally got a look at her. The Godoan's eyes dilated as she observed the knight's skin. Her face was covered in scars. In that strange moment which she couldn't fully understand, Loomi felt some kind of a connection to the stranger. The teen brought a hand up to her face, running it along the scar that had rendered her other eye unusable.

They were similar... and she was so much cooler and more confident than Loomi was.

An introduction brought her awkwardly back into the moment.

"Y-yes, miss," Loomi nodded. "I-I'm Loomi. That's Ko and Rosalina."

Iris... she felt like she had heard that name.

"You're... Master Noble's student, right?"

Interacting: Matsu Ike Matsu Ike
In the large gathering room, off center, she engaged with PADI who had approached with container in hand. Likely at the sense of her presence, the container made a popping sound and worked through its mechanical interlocking phase to give way to the objects kept within. She slid on a glove, a shade of black opposed to the shade her body-suit had been, but necessary for handing the material inside.

She had gone to Spinter herself to gather the crystals used in assembling these talismans, touching them with bare hands would bond them to her, and these were slated to be given to those visiting. She dug in, scooping her hand through one of the laces and pulling the Echo Stone out.

She gleamed the status of the stones through mild examination; they seemed to go undisturbed. Her head whipped up and her quick nod was a visual cue to PADI to reseal them. "Hope there's enough, we're good. Seal 'em back u--" The announcement of her name caught her attention.

"Master Jade."

She took in the visitors full view, replanted the stone, and removed her glove. "Well isn't this a surprise, Master Ike, welcome." Her body started for her Atrisian colleague, meeting her somewhere in the middle. Jade sauntered up, "Well, I mean welcome to Eadu haha, will you be joining us? or are you just spying on things here?" She teased. She likely hadn't seen Matsu in person since the dedication of the Jadelight Beacon? Though they were both in somewhat regular communication, as Matsu was always building something, and always supportive of Romi.

"I hope that trek up wasn't too much, or did you cheat?" She tilted her head with curled lips

Between the mud trying to steal her boots, the occasional slide backwards, and the occasional fall forwards, she was genuinely questioning what kind of person had cooked up this training idea.

"What's the worst that could happen? Gah I'm about as bright as a black hole." She snapped, pushing off the ground again and pausing halfway through the motion.

An unfamiliar sound making her glance around.

The only time she'd ever heard that was when-

She dared look up, a tumble of rocks creeping closer as she groaned. "Oh cool lets just fethin get a concussion on the way up." Came the growl, caught for a moment on what to do.

There wasn't any reprieve from the oncoming rocks along the path. No little overhangs to scuttle under. Nothing but steep ground-.

An idea formed as she laid her back against the ground, extending her arms and drawing the poncho tight before turning her head and breathing. Not so deep the first few as the soft rumble grew into a rolling thunder. Stumbling over her breathing, and a mounting frustration had her turning over and clapping her hands above her head.

A focus finally found as the largest of the rocks was near enough to see the jagged edges tumbling end for end.

A wedge formed around her, beginning at her fingertips and extending just beyond her knees like a shimmering film as the thunder came down and found an oddly shaped shield to tumble off of rather than soft squishy Zeltron.

It was a strange feeling, breathing finally in a steady rhythm as the sound passed over and away as the shield faded. Along with her anxiety. Content to lay still in the muck, she took a final steadying breath before righting herself and ambling forward.

She was going to have a strongly worded suggestion about a falling rocks sign somewhere at the landing pad to whoever had organized this.

"Cheat is such a... harsh word. I prefer to look at it as not being late." She said it with a smile though and there was quite a look when she walked over. "And I did come to help... so many students coming to one place.... even you can't do everything alone." She offered a bow though as more of them were arriving a lot and some of them she had seen on COruscant in the jedi temple there. Standing next to the tall woman... "Plus this should be as much training for them as it is for you. A jedi even an accomplished master should never stop learning. It is what has driven me to push forward with many of the force skills and knowledge."

She said it while she could see the others were arriving in the force and some coming when she bowed clasping her hands in front of herself. The oens she could sense and see were an odd collection but it was what made it quite interesting. "And of course in helping you the chance to learn what you have developed is a welcomed guide. I should be able to hopefully endeavor and not disappoint you in these methods you have worked on.... Also if needed I can make alter the environment for the weather good or bad if you really want to test them." She said the last with a grin on her face when he chance to make it rain more or snow even was possible.

Tala struggled behind the main group, gripping her walking stick tightly as her burned limbs struggled to work properly. The grunts and moans of pain didn't help the situation either. Though her burns were less severe than the doctor's first thought, she still had sunburns over most of her body that limited her mobility. Her Master had begged for her to just dunk herself in a Bacta Tank for a couple of hours to heal her skin but she had refused. This lack of nobility now would be a lesson for her so later, she would push herself to not be captured by the enemy. Besides, not even her girlfriend would put up with the Bacta breath the tank would give her for very long.

As Loomi, Ko, and Rosalina pushed ahead in their excitement, Tala closed sight of them. After 15 minutes, she couldn't even see them in the distance which is disturbing when you have a radar instead of regular eyes. As she came to a fork in the path, she looked in both directions. One was a path towards Eadu's Hill and Mountains while the other went deeper into the forest. She sighed as she looked each way, thinking about which way she would go. Well... At least I can see down below from the mountains and there are fewer animals... And onto the mountain path she went, though little did she know that she was about to make a decision that would finally cut her life short.

As she slowly slogged down the muddy path, all she could think about is how she was falling behind, how she was failing. All her padawans had better luck on their missions while she had been turned into a husk. Maybe this was to be her fate in the Order, to be nothing more than one of the thousands of Jedi that were buried into their Temple's foundations. Her head shook violently as she tried to get the thoughts from her head. Even if that were to be her fate, she would have to be dragged into her coffin. It was then the rumbling started, that the mountain itself was answering her challenge. She could hear rocks rumbling down toward her, and all she could do was put down her walking stick and get her feet set. It was closer now... maybe 10 meters away... Her ears picked up the head-sized rock whistling through the air. It was now time to do something incredibly stupid.

Putting up her hands, Tala caught the rock and managed to hold onto it. The rock's momentum made her grunt at its impact as it almost pushed her over the path's edge but her combat boots managed to grip the muddy soil just enough to keep her on the trail. As she dropped the rock to her feet and shook out her stinging hands, Tala used the adrenalin of her almost falling off to her death to make her more determined to trudge through the mud to the supposed temple.

"Stop whining, you big baby."

Janos looked miserable but not as much as his faithful charhound companion. The poor beast was even less suited to this climate than sullustans. Storms on his homeworld were nothing like this. He'd never seen so much precipitation in his life. A faint glow indicated the next guide beacon, but the constant lightning hurt his sensitive black eyes.

"You could have stayed on the ship," he lectured the hound in sullustese, "But you howled and howled."

Traditional Jedi robes clung to his skin. They were not encouraged by the New Jedi Order but his people valued traditions. This was the ancient way. Trepidation dominated his thoughts at the idea of Master Jade conducting a verbal exam. His grasp on speaking Basic was...limited.

"Come on, Flint. Keep up!"

He experienced a sudden flash of feeling like he was about to fall and then the sensation passed. Somewhere ahead Janos could sense another padawan's alarm with his empathic gifts. Her adrenaline gave him the boost he needed to press on despite his self doubts.

Joland contemplated the contigent of Jedi. Most were younger than him, even the more experienced ones. It wasn't lost on him that he joined the Order at an older age than normal; it made him a bit of an outcast. He wasn't familiar with most of them. Many of the padawans seemed to know each other well and usually stayed in their compact group.

The ascent began and Joland was already repeating curse words like he was reciting the Basic alphabet. His homeworld, Aleen Minor, was temperate and flat. Coruscant, his new home base, was climate controlled and the most strenuous hikes there were walking to a lift. Needless to say, he was out of his element. So, he planted his black combat boots in imprints left by his companions ahead. Seemed appropriate; this training "retreat" was all about following in the footsteps of an experienced and knowledgeable older generation.

Joland moved quickly, but not elegantly, in the hazardous mud, as a rock nearly crushed Tala Vale Tala Vale . She handled it well, but he stretched his hand out to her back just in case. Moral support, atleast. She trudged too quickly ahead before he could ask if she was okay.

Maybe he wouldn't follow in the footsteps left by Lossa Darcuhl Lossa Darcuhl and Tala. Seemed like bad luck or something.

Joland saw the next beacon and continued the summit. Hopefully no more rocks. Dying would really suck.
