OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: Establish the lore behind the Dire Wolves Mercenary Company

  • Canon: N/A
  • Permissions: Jaeger Solutions

GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Organization Name: The Dire Wolves Mercenary Company
  • Classification: Mercenary Company
  • Affiliation: Sergei Jachovich (Dire Wolf/CEO), Ryan Alphonse (Chief Engineer), Good Standing Relationship between CIS and Republic factions,
  • Organization Symbol: The Snarling Wolf's Head.
  • Description: The Dire Wolves are at it's core a professional and elite force of mercenaries who's backgrounds are all either former military, or have gone through Sergei's "basic training". Each member is trained to be at least proficient on all weapons and methods of conducting war, but each has their own specialty to allow them to excel at various stages and fields of combat. This is to include CQC/Urban environments, Snipers, AT specialists, Rangers/Jungle Warfare, Mountaineers, CBRN specialists, Desert warfare, and so much more. If there's boots on the ground, you can expect that The Dire Wolves are the ones you want to call from the smallest scale of black operations, to major offensives that require shock troopers to spearhead the assault. Every soldier is a rifleman first, and their respective specialty next. Each soldier is constantly training to improve their craft, always seeking to make themselves or the company as a whole better, to include regular sessions of cross training on various weapon systems and battlefield tasks. They can train other starting militias to learn how to fight for themselves, how to survive in harsh environments, how to best employ various weapons to maximum effect. No challenge is too great, no mission impossible, their motto "Ego Sum Dignus!" (I Am Worthy!) is showcased with all their tasks as nothing less than 110% is acceptable and failure isn't an option.
    • Army Size: Small Sergei's unit at most will never exceed 120 well trained commandos for ground side operations and a single frigate and gunship for space operations.
    • Composition: Currently the ground pounders are divided up into 30 man platoons, which is 3 squads of 10 each. Each platoon has dedicated comms, support weapons, and other support necessary to conduct combat operations alone. Current composition is per platoon, 6 AT riflemen, 9 Riflemen, 3 grenadiers, 1 combat medic/surgeon, 3 comms specialists, 6 automatic riflemen, 1 designated marksman, 1 platoon leader. Squad leaders are normally pulled from riflemen but can be any of the above positions.
GEOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION
SOCIAL INFORMATION
  • Hierarchy: At the head of the company is The Dire Wolf. Below him are platoon leaders for the ground pounders and the captain of the ship. The XO in space is the captain of the ship, while the XO of ground units is 1st Platoon's platoon leader. Each platoon is divided into 3 ten man squads, with a squad leader in charge of each, and in each squad two team leaders to lead each 4 man team. Various specialists fill in the gaps with a majority being Riflemen, and the rest being Designated Marksman, Anti-Tank Specialists, Communications specialists, Automatic riflemen, grenadiers, and other required specialties for infantry based combat.
  • Membership: First you have to find Sergei, which is either as easy or as difficult as it might be at any given time. Since Sergei is very rarely out of a mission, this presents its own challenges. Secondly you have to present proof of military background, or in cases where such proof isn't present, you fight whomever Sergei designates in a fist fight to prove you won't quit, as Sergei hates people wasting his time. Once you prove that you won't give up during the training, Sergei will take you to multiple planets for training, mostly survival and asymmetric warfare training, which includes jumping out of the ship in high altitude, surviving on the planet below for a month, and practicing various tasks and drills to become proficient at fighting in said environment. Sergei's training usually revolves around fighting larger forces, like battalions or regiments with only squad or platoon level friendly forces. This includes disrupting comms, utilizing the environment, assassinations of key leaders, and blitzing a unit's heavier weapons when they are exposed to deny them later use. They will use anything and everything to their advantage, and the only thing they will not sacrifice to win is civilians themselves as they are above all, professional soldiers. Once you survive (yes you read that right, getting in doesn't guarantee survival) training, you are stuck into a rifle squad at whatever position you did best as, (positions being AT, Automatic rifleman, Designated Marksman, Comms/Tech specialist, Grenadier, or rifleman if you weren't particularly skilled at anything). From there you receive advanced training from more experienced specialists in said field, or if no one is available Sergei will train the new recruits himself. And yes the training, never, stops.
  • Climate: Once you get into the Dire Wolves as a proper member you are a brother or sister who have comrades that would not only kill for you, they'd die for you. This being said there is also a high standard of expectations for being a Dire Wolf. Members are required to maintain their equipment, and keep themselves out of any illegal activities period. There is a zero tolerance policy for any incidents where a civilian was harmed because of actions taken by a member. Other than that you are expected to always give 110% during training, because you train how you fight, and odds are they'll be in one soon enough. All members of The Dire Wolves have everything taken care of when it comes to family matters, and if there's an issue Sergei will see to it personally that the matter is handled to ensure peace of mind.
  • Reputation: The Dire Wolves are set to earn a reputation as a top of the line combat unit, both in the conventional world and the special operations community. They do their missions, they do them well, and clean. Their zero tolerance policy for accepting any unnecessary civilian casualties is a huge draw for legitimate governments as unlike other Merc companies, The Dire Wolves strive for professionalism and excellence at all levels. This combined with their training to perform many tasks and drills of a special forces unit or as shock troops on the battlefield would be a boon in any commander's chest as an option for battle.
  • Curios: Each member of The Dire Wolves has a set of dogtags that are worn under all of their equipment, which is emblazoned with the snarling wolf's head. On the back is a two digit number which is the order they've graduated from Sergei's training program. Otherwise there is no other discerning marks.
  • Rules: The rules are simple. Don't die in mission, don't disgrace the company name, always seek to learn more either about your job or how to be better in some way, and never, ever, surrender.
  • Goals: Sergei sees this company as his personal way of showing others what proper soldiers look like. He's seen the worst the galaxy has to offer when it comes to pirates, murderers, and warlords taking advantage of the helpless. Sergei's band is meant to be a beacon of light in the darkness, a sword for those too weak to defend themselves, and a chance for redemption for those that think they're beyond saving. Sergei lives for fighting, but he also hates those who think the only way to fight is with civilian populations being an afterthought. He is trained to be an exceptional soldier, and hopes that by helping others the only way a soldier can, that he can make the galaxy a safer place for all.
MEMBERS
Sergei "Jack" Jachovich - Current Dire Wolf
Aiden Wolf - Orphan recovered and sponsored by company
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Sergei initially began thinking of starting his own mercenary company when a job he took solo as running security for a transportation firm went bad and left him nearly dead due to the literal amount of pirates that overwhelmed him on the job. It was here that Sergei remembered his instructors teachings that a Soldier while strong alone, was exponentially more powerful with allies to his left and right, especially so when they were men and women he could trust with his life. And so Sergei set out to do exactly that, hunting down the best the galaxy had to offer from various militaries around. He had very simple rules, no war crimes and no one quits. His training regimen was one to weed out those either not strong enough or not determined enough to maintain the course of what Sergei wanted to create, which was the Galaxy's premier fighting force that could fight anywhere, at any time, against any odds. He started with a small team and their first true test being a shipping run along a known pirate route, where Sergei encountered Aiden Wolf, a tortured and brainwashed child soldier essentially enslaved to pirates. After defeating the pirates in question and capturing the boy, Sergei saw another avenue for his mercenary company. To give those that hadn't a chance at living for themselves just that, a second chance at life. And so Sergei made the decision that those who surrendered were to be treated humanely, and given a chance to lay down their arms and accept society's judgement or live on a remote world in peace. Sergei's team would see their next test on Atrisia, and while the mission was a success, the losses incurred would force Sergei to expand his training program and find a larger vessel to accommodate a larger unit. And from there, Sergei plans to continue to use the Merc company as a shining beacon of hope in the darkness of war. And hopefully through the actions of one man, Sergei can inspire others with acts of courage and kindness to be better themselves, and make the galaxy safer for all.

Since I'm a stickler for formatting, I would center the logo ;)

Otherwise, this looks really good! I can tell that you put a lot of thought and effort into really fleshing this organization out. The only thing I would suggest is to give the reader a better gauge of just how big the Dire Wolves are -- are they a small team of around fifty? one hundred? or are they some large mercenary army with thousands of individual units?

I'll be conducting this review for you. There are just a few comments that I have before this submission is moved along. I will note that you might consider submitting this as an Army submission as opposed to an organization, though the parts of the Army template that you've included here are fine either way.

1. Intent.
Intent: To make a small Company sized mercenary company to fullfil the roles of an elite Force Protection Combat Team/ Assymetrical Warfare Unit.

As Organizational Lore, this would be the backstory behind Sergei's mercenary company, not a submission creating the mercenary company itself. If you were intending to make a mercenary company, that would be an Army or NPC submission. So I would recommend changing the intent to be "Establish the lore behind the Dire Wolves Mercenary Company" or words to that effect.

2. Image Link. The provided link goes to the homepage of a wiki. I looked on that page and did not see the referenced image. Please provide a link to the web page where it can be found and state the name of the original artist if possible.

3. Permissions. If this submission is your own work, then this should be N/A

4. Links. Once approved, this submission will be locked and you will need to go through the Submission Modification process to make edits or changes to the approved submission. As such, I would suggest either marking this N/A for now or adding any links to relevant threads prior to it being locked.

5. Affiliation.
Affiliation: Officially no affiliations, however is willing to work with companies and governments with worth while causes

Note what the template is looking for here. Does this organization hold loyalties to any particular character, faction, government, company or establishment? Link any relevant characters, faction pages, or groups.

So if this organization has no affiliations, then it has no loyalties to any character (e.g. Sergei) or establishment (e.g. itself)? This seems in stark contrast to the points where you say that accepted/trained members are willing to die for one another. Given that fact, I would suggest adding your character here with a link to your character sheet, as well as any other NPCs that may be relevant.

6. Headquarters. Understanding that this is a mobile, rapid deployment styled force, I note that you mention a frigate and a gunship. Do they deploy from those? In that context, would those operate as the headquarters for this company? The logistics of housing and moving ~120 personnel and their equipment is still substantial, so I'd imagine that they would have somewhere that they deploy out of. If not the frigate and gunship, then do they use commercial transport to move from one planet to the next? Some other logistical arrangement?

7. Notable Assets.
Notable Assets: They have Sergei's current ship and another sub that'll be submitted for a mobile command center once approved.

As I've noted in my comments above, your submission references a frigate and a gunboat. Those appear to serve as the main "locations" for your organization. Is there any link that could go here to help the reader understand what you are referring to by those? That could be the form of a Wookieepedia article or a Factory submission. If you do make a factory submission, one need not be approved before the other. Just let me know your thoughts on this point.

Those are my thoughts, I look forward to yours in reply. Please tag me once you have finished with any edits.

Zak Dymo thank you for the review! I had many changes since I first put this up as I've been very busy laying the ground work for this submission. Lot's of tech subs to get approved and all that anyways I'll get into the changes done.

  1. Changed the Intent so that this is creating lore behind the company, I'll make the Army sub at a later date many thanks.
  2. Fixed image link and perms as I didn't realize those weren't working.
  3. I left links as N/A for now, but I'm not really sure what to put there as I'm planning to continue work to increase the company tech assets and build connections however I wish to do this with IRP actions.
  4. Listed current affiliations both with Chars in the organization and with established relationships with other factions, will do more additions as they arise with IRP actions
  5. Headquarters has been updated to the Frigate vessel.
  6. Listed all current notable assets to date, will submit requests to change when more is required.
Again thank you very much for the indepth review and I look forward to us getting this approved!

Thank you for those edits. I just have one last comment and then I think this will be good to go.

1. Notable Assets
.
Notable Assets: Aegis Frigate mentioned above, GS-77 Gunship from Jaeger Solutions, weapons from Jaeger Solutions, Locke and Key Mechanics, and Roble Manufacturing, Gen 1 Armor package,

As per the template, this is really just looking at locations owned/controlled by the organization. Your group deploys from the Aegis, so it functions as a location in that sense. I'd recommend trimming this back, as the additional details about the weapons and equipment aren't necessary for this submission (more on that below). If you wanted to keep mention of the GS-77 Gunship, you'd need to link and also show Permission to use that, as in the form of a Marketplace transaction, because the approved Factory submission is labeled Closed Market.

My recommendation would be to just include the frigate for now and save the equipment for the Army or Combat Unit submission, since that's where you would be detailing the load-out, strengths, weaknesses, etc of the mercenary company in a submission that will better suit a PVP environment.

But, those are just my suggestions. Let me know your thoughts on that, and we can go from there.
