The disturbance faded somewhat. Were they to late? Mantic came to a sudden stop, opening up to the force.

No. the presence was still here. The familiar presence.

"I have not felt this in some time padawan...." he began to [member="Rafeesh"] as he slowly was getting closer to decipher the identity of the dark one behind it all. albeit, just as he was finding the focus he felt something else. [member="Corvus Raaf"] in danger - he hesitated.

"We need to move with haste. The dark side is suddenly growing very bold..." Mantic was starting to fear that they were walking into a trap as they continued. But he had decided to press on toward the center of the darkness they had felt from the beginning. If possible they would try to cross path with the grand master but it was almost impossible to be sure where she was in al this. He could only hope that she would sense him as he let himself be exposed to the light, easing the identification of himself. Maybe, just maybe it would give [member="Corvus Raaf"] some needed comfort, if he could not find her, perhaps she could be lead toward him.

Mean while, all they could do was continue down the dark tunnel leading further into the depth of the mines.

Dar felt a strong presence in the tunnels. He put his hand on the hilt of his saber. He walked calmly into the tunnels trying to hold back his bloodlust. He was a bit concerned at his lack of control but... At the moment he didn't care. He began to sprint deeper into the tunnels. He took darker paths in order to conceal himself and searched with the gaze of a predator. He'd run this presence through. He allowed himself a dark chuckle.

Rafeesh followed after his master. "It is very familiar. Almost too much so. It is recent." The only person he had known with strength that could even lead to this had been.... Mythos.... Was it him? Rafeesh could not tell, but he was willing to bet that it was. He thought to himself silently, "What could you want here my old Master? Is there something at the core of this world?"

He thought about powers long lost. He remembered hearing of a technique that could bind ancient ghosts to ones self. He could not remember what it was, but he wanted to learn that ability. He had a long time ago at least. Perhaps he could learn things from the ghosts. Perhaps he could become stronger for it. For now though he had to worry about the enemy that he could almost here coming for them. They were trying to run, their deed done. This would not end well.

As the fightings were spreading through out the tunnel network Mantic picked up sounds of blaster fire down the tunnel and started to jog forward. Everything was happening so fast and there was much that they had not foressen this time. The dark side had held its veil over these events and Mantic had allowed himself to be tricked by it.

"Then you must embrace yourself padawan. Remember, your old fears can bring back that which you have worked to undo. We must be strong together." he answered [member="Rafeesh"]

He did not like this at all but had no more time to contemplate the situation. As they rounded the next corner they saw a patrol of Republic troopers locked in a fire fight with ... Atrisian soldiers.

"Him... here?" Mantic gasped. It took him a second to collect his thoughts then he raised his saber.

"Keep your calm and your focus padawan. We must help them breach this stalemate." was all he said. [member="Rafeesh"] had seen several battles by his side by now and knew how to handle himself.
Then he darted forward to join the midst of the troopers, arriving just in time to deflect a blaster back toward the enemy group barricaded a bit further down the tunnel.

Hearing the sound of blaster fire he zeroed in on it like a heat seeking missile. The closer he got to the sound of firing the more he could sense something. A powerful something. Dar would want nothing more than to run this thing through. Sprinting through the tunnels he slowed till he came apon the fire fight and saw the jedi. He allowed himself the ghost of a grin in his helmet. Hurling rocks and stones at them he chuckled darkly.

The other Sith, appeared before her.

Corvus had not seen him approach. His red blade cut down to split her head asunder. She blocked awkwardly with her blade, which was still enmeshed in Force lightning. The Sith snarled, then loosed a Force-augmented kick to the side of her face that caused her to see stars and sent her skidding across the floor.

Fearing a follow-up attack, she staggered to her feet, wobbly, weaving, unable to see clearly. She saw them advance on her, and tried to ready herself, but a misstep sent her falling to the floor.

She hit her head again. Blackness beckoned and she could not resist it.

Rafeesh followed his master, he could almost sense when Mantic figured it out. Like the click of trigger. The Atrisian soldiers only gave more credence to Rafeesh's thought. So, Mythos had finally decided to step into the shoes of some old Sith Lord. He was certainly trying something, perhaps to become as powerful as the Sith of old. He had seen those Sith, power beyond imagination, at one point he had wanted for that strength. No more. He knew that the power was nothing but a crutch and a chain. Once bound it was near impossible to break.

He ran with Mantic into the battle, once more wishing he had a proper lightsaber. This training saber was nowhere enough for this fighting. Blaster fire would be caught, but did not deflect as well as he would have preferred. He had to face them in close, fortunately the cave was not quite large as a proper battlefield and that would allow melee weapons to become all the more effective. Of course, that could go both ways. The enemy did have force users, as was seen moments later when boulders were thrown at Mantic.

Rafeesh instinctively felt out to the Force to try and locate the beginning of that attack. He assumed that his master could handle the rocks. He looked somewhat forward to seeing his first Sith fight. This would be his second lightsaber duel since reawakening... that did not help. Thinking like that only made him feel insecure, a luxury not available in a fight. Rafeesh decided to turn his attention to simply beating back the enemy troops. He started slowly moving his way towards their position. Deflecting blaster fire and moving out of the way of shots.

He pressed the first blaster-shot back to its shooter, then turned his head to the NCO in charge.

"Let me know where you need us Sergeant!" he shouted to the trooper. Then he felt the presence and his initial idea to assist the troopers had to come second..

Looking up he realized he was under attack. The stones hurled at him were stopped by a force shield he raised almost on instinct. They were entering battle and Mantics mind was slowly slipping into the cradle of the force to guide his actions and dull his emotions. Efficiency started to take over.
He looked around but fore most the force stretched out from the jedi master searching and noting where this new threat derived for. Somewhere he was subconsciously expecting the force signature of [member="Lord Mythos"] - the devious sith warrior he had encountered all that time ago.
But instead something else appeared. A far smaller source of power, yet still as dark as its master. Because that was what Mantic assumed, [member="Dar Moraal"] must be another of the Atrisian Emperors assassins sent to deal with him.

"Padawan, there is a sith here. Let us work together." he told [member="Rafeesh"] with a most calm voice. Then he raised his left hand to try and grab [member="Dar Moraal"] with the force and hurl him out of the opening he was standing in and into the far wall on the other side of the room. It was a powerful ability meant to simply crush the opposition, have it killed by the sheer physical brutality the pull would explode in as the victim hit the wall. But never the less, Mantic was fuly prepared for that the sith might survive and thus his next action would be to leap forward, saber ignited to follow suit with a flying attack directed toward the acolyte in whatever position he was found after the pull.

Dar hit the wall with a feral roar. He was in a lot of pain. He suit seemed to be on the border between ah crap and just fine. Dar looked up and saw the master mid leap. This meant he couldn't dodge. He hurled more boulders at him which was then followed by him clumsily getting out of the way. His rage and bloodlust took over his mind. He let it.

Corvus dreamed. And in her dreams she always does it right.

She starts to believe.

In her dreams, the purple flare of her blade saves the galaxy from civil war.

Because she knew it. She could feel it.

In the swirl of the Force around her, even in sleep, she could feel the connections the Sith had. She did not know what they were — or why they were forged — but she felt their power:.

It was a gift.

Imagine a Corusca gem: a mineral whose interlocking crystalline structure makes it harder than durasteel. You can strike one with a five-kilo hammer and do no more than dent the hammer's face. Yet the same cystalline structure that gives the Corusca strength also gives it shatterpoints: spots where a precise application of carefully measured force-no more than a gentle tap-will break it into pieces. But to find these shatterpoints, to use them to shape the Corusca gem into beauty and utility, requires years of study, an intimate understanding of crystal structure, and rigorous practice to train the hand in the perfect combination of strength and precision to produce the desired cut.

Unless you have a talent like Shatterpoint. Put simply: when Corvus looked at those Sith through the Force, she could see where they break.

Rafeesh heeded his master's command. He changed target to the Sith who Mantic was facing. It was a good start, for the Jedi at least, the Sith had been thrown into a wall. Rafeesh brought his saber up and made a charge towards the Sith. He slowed as he came within five meters of the him. He called on the Force as he lifted some of the loose stones and rocks, smaller ones, and began throwing them in a stream towards the Sith. They would probably cause no true damage, but the nuisance might be enough to distract him while Mantic continued the fight. He held this for about three seconds before changing to saber. He did realize that he had a training saber, no match for the real one that the enemy probably wielded. That would be bad.

He waited to see how his master would continue fighting, he would have to change his style to fit with that.

Bringing up his saber Mantic hit away the stones hurled at him mid air. The feat was tiresome and interrupted his leap attack.

Landing a few meters away from the seemingly dazed sith Mantic saw his padawan copy [member="Dar Moraal"] s attack, hurling debris at the dark sider.

Mantic accompanied [member="Rafeesh"] by hurling his saber toward the enemy.

The saber throw was followed by yet another leap forward to have him in close combat for a follow up attack.

The jedi masters mind was however set on continuing and should the sith fall he would seize his attack to push forward behind the troopers to continue toward what he now believed was the master mind of this all - [member="Lord Mythos"]

Dar seized the rocks hurled at him through the force and blocked the oncoming saber with them followed by him slamming them down creating a virtual dust cloud around them. Using this to his advantage he lunged at what he thought to be the apprentice and used his perfected form of Echani to whittle at his defenses. If the master interrupted which he would then Dar would use his experimental trick. It hurt him a lot but it was powerful. Powerful enough to defeat the master? Not if un mastered which it wasn't so right now it'll just.... not really sure he never tried it on a master before... first time for everything then.

The climb was a long one out of the core, the enemy was not the republic rather the terrain they encountered on the climb. Steep and dangerous even with zip-liners and a rather cumbersome number of forces we made our way to the overlaying core that lead through the tunnels, however our King had found another way. He had thought ahead of the tight corridors and the narrow passageways and as such we of the Jar'Kai broke off at every tunnel before the last and most direct left with the bulk of the captains to then meet at the extraction point, only one order was given to us by him "Keep up, or get left behind", not all of us did, but not one of us looked back...

It was near the sunlight of dawn when Mythos reached the outer corridor but what he found was not rest for the climb rather a fresh new enemy, the republic.

The Jar'Kai spread from every corridor of the core sabers ignited and ready to cleave a path to their freedom ignoring the brothers and sisters that died in the long claw upwards. What they found was that their King had gotten a lead already, as soon as his eyes set on the canvas of the open battlefield with the captains at his back he set it upon himself to set an example of battlefield prowess and skill to all who served him, and a legend of fear upon all who opposed him.

What resulted from the rising three hundred warriors was what was expected, a titanic wave of bloodshed and death as blasterfire met lightsaber and flesh met plasma at an alarming and increasing degree. The Jar'Kai made numbers count for nothing in corridors as their individual skill in combat and use of force abilities made short work of undivided and deficient resistance however when met by an organized and well trained defense the clash was much less one sided and losses became noticeable.

Mythos was leading the assault in his corridor that linked to two of his divisions backed by the captains of the guard, the best in every aspect of combat. As soon as his eyes set upon the enemy troopers he lifted his right hand and unleashed a torrent of sith lightning from his fingertips that clashed into the enemy and sent his body flying from where it once was, then his axe left his back and he rode the charge into battle as behind him he could hear the whiz of blaster fire and the ignition of sabers...

"Commands were ordered through com even as screams drowned them out, we were separated by distance but we were never apart"
- Inzio, Sargent of the Sentinels

It was a battle of ideologies as much as of skill and prowess, whereas the guard prided individual combat skills and prized single acts of bravery and courage, the troopers of the republic more often than not worked as a team and valuing the unit above the individual as a core foundation of training.

The sith would not fall that easily Mantic realized as the stones [member="Rafeesh"] hurled against him was used to shield from Mantics saber. With the saber returning to his hand Mantic then realized that the sith acolyte was about to attack his padawan.
While the defensive maneuver had been a cunning and rather impressive move, he was engaging on two fronts now and from what Mantic could gather outmatched.
The acolyte would most likely not have much to offer in resistance with his attention divided and mostly focused on the padawan.

At the same time, he felt a disturbance reeking from the depth. The dark lord was surfacing, death was following him. And the Republic armed forces seemed to be caught of guard.
There was no time.

There is no emotion

The sith, unfortunately, had to die and Mantic would not hold back.

Mantic turned inwards, using a niman technique which usually had devastating effects on those incapable of resisting his power. With Draw closer the jedi master attempted to pull [member="Dar Moraal"] forcefully toward him to be impaled by Mantics green saber.

Dar felt what was happening. He smiled. His trick would work perfectly closer. As he neared the master he simply used the sith lightening abilitie but instead he had it burst out his entire body like a raging storm. It crackled and licked his armor almost like an atmosphereric effect. He directed it at the jedi master. Even using his will to survive against him he used every emotion available to him. Rage, Hate, Fear, even Guilt. Putting his all into this. Quite a gamble. Dar was never good at gambling.

Rafeesh was not about to be so easily beat back by a simply trick. It had been a good one, definitely. The Sith was not a fool. But that did not make him unbeatable. Rafeesh had not seen lightening used in such a way before, however it was not hard to believe. He wished that he had the ability that Grand Master Satele Shan was supposed to have been capable of, absorbing electrical energy, even holding back lightsabers. He had never seen that first hand, but he had heard the stories.

Focusing he called on the Force. He pushed out, pulling back the outstretched hand to pull the Sith more his way, while then throwing his lightsaber towards the moving body. Whether or not this worked, he leaped and rolled off and away to the side of where he had been. He looked to see what he had accomplished, probably not much. He was not very well trained yet, his skills were unrefined. He would have liked to have said that there was raw power there, but that would be more pride than anything else. He could not judge his skills very well.

Dagos looked at the group of soldiers. It was his first mission as the Captain of the Senate Guard, which of course made him more nervous than he'd ever been before. His eyes flickered from one guard to another as he tried to come up with a strategy. The Senate Commando was one of the most powerful military units of the Galactic Republic and that for a reason -- only the most talented fighters of the Senate Guard were given a place in the squad.
"Men, it will be a crazy fight. I doubt all of us are going to return completely safe and sound, but let's make it a fight the One Sith have never seen before. It's our first mission as a united commando and I have faith in you. We can do it!" he gave the soldiers a little boost of confidence and motivation. The rest was going to be done by the guards themselves.
He sighed as he turned around and walked to the front of the starship. He wanted the mission to be a success -- and to be honest, he didn't have an idea to why it wouldn't be successful. Like he had just said, it was the very first mission in which the Senate Guard actually worked as a separate unit. Before that Dominion, Dagos had never seen any of them on the battlefield. He himself had been assigned to some other military units for missions like these.

"The path to victory is paved with a tidal wave of heroes blood!"

Mythos urged his men onward through the killing fields literally stepping over the corpses of republic troopers and his axe dripping blood as if it was dipped in a tub of the stuff. He was surrounded on all sides, yet with his lightsaber on his left hand and juyo in his soul blaster bolts never touched him and those shots that did grazed his skin causing intense pain..... yet pain was customary to this sith lord...

Juyo took form with every slice of his sabers and axe, after every enemy that fell his speed only got stronger. "Mythonian formation! Now!"

The Jar'Kai around him from three divisions broke through and met side by side with him, in unison they ripped the very steel from the bottom of the floors and stabbed them in the ground as a buffer for the blaster fire and a wedge from the enemy, crushing some under the durasteel. They started flying, jumping through the wedge and falling down with vicious intent carving a path of death onward, earning every single yard and meter they gained.

When the wedge was formed and shoulders touched as lightsabers were holstered Mythos fell back clenching his skull with both his hands and dropping his axe and lightsabers. Images of the ancient wars of Korriban started taking hold upon his brain, the axe of Adas had been so long in his possession that it had started to cause tears in his sanity and mind. The pain was excruciating and in the heat of battle he was defenseless, he took a rifle butt to the temple that only increased his pain, yet the trooper that executed the strike was cut down by his main captain: Martha.

"My King! You need to get up!"

Mythos heard the words....but only as a distant echo inside his dreams, the loss of his leadership caused the Jar'Kai precious minutes and they were forced to take a step back, yet when they did Mythos was able to snap out of it. He shook his head to regain his bearing and gnashed his teeth through the pain of the shock.... yet he was back in the fight after a blaster bolt whizzed to him, and the Rudis of the dark lord deflected it back to it's source.

His fingers ominously clenched the crystal in his hand, the axe of Adas trembled and clanked in the floor as the very ground around him started to tremble as his pain fed his anger, that fed his rage, that fed his hatred.... The Crystal began feeding him dark malevolent energy that allowed him to predict blaster fire and see microseconds into the future while in battle: this was battle precognition and Mythos had never enjoyed it to this degree.

He switched stances to soresu and the force unclipped the lightsabers from his belt and ignited them in mid air, each individual weapon acting independently and deflecting independent blasterfire. Once Mythos was back on the offensive, the Jar'Kai had no problems smashing through the front-line defenses with ease. The Jar'Kai charged fearlessly, cutting down all resistance that was caught off guard and was now executing a tactical retreat.

The Jar'Kai enjoyed a moment of leisure as they stepped over the mines and into the open fields.... it was then Mythos gazed upon the unmistakable insignia of the most elite soldiers the republic had to offer: The Senate Guard, a division as old as the republic itself.... a worthy opponent for the jar'kai... the best of the sith versus the best of the republic... Mythos could't help but to smile.

"Well Children!!! it appears the republic has finally graced us with some worthy sons to send back to their pathetic empire in pieces! "

Tired... lacking of sleep and wounded... The Jar'Kai roared in vicious glee....

"Today, is a good day to die! Victory or death!"

Keeli turned to his SCUBA Troopers.
"Alright boys, the plan is simple, get to Dorn and assist where needed. Not all of us are going to make it home for dinner tonight, so stay strong. If you're shot down signal me. I'm going to try and save as many of you as I can. Alright boys MOVE!"
The troopers poured out of their landing craft onto dry land. Given there wasn't much water, they'd stick to ground camo instead. The men crept silently towards Dorn and the rest of his men. Keeli drew his blasters, ready for anything that came his way. He flipped his commlink on.
"Dorn this is Keeli, be there soon over."
