Donovia
Under siege
rain_patrol_by_vilk42-d40yl43.jpg

The world is on fire!

With the crushing defeat of the core world Contruum the Republic contact to the southern worlds. The dark war machinery of the One Sith Empire has turned its hungry eyes to those easy picks while the Republic core worlds are rushing to fortify what ever they can in order to save what can be saved.

Within the surge of fugitives slipping through the last thin corridor that the republic holds open to its southerns worlds the miners of Denovia stands out.
They bring word about a terrible presence that has established itself on their mining world.

A sith lord now looms over the worlds pushing the mines to their limits, not to extract minerals, but something else.
the lord's own forces are forming a local military that are taking the law in their own hands and while many are trying to flee the planet its ports are slowly shutting down.

Resistance has flared up but is swiftly being dealt with as the sith troopers are far better equipped and trained then the local miner community.

The republic is their last hope.

With the senate still recovering from the recent losses of worlds the senator of Denovia herself has stepped up calling for emergency measures to save her home world. At the same time the Republic intelligence report strange encrypted messages being sent to and from Donovia. The mining companies are being exposed to a hacking attack on a massive scale.
With the facts laid down the senate finally called for an intervention.

A fleet of Republic war ships was dispatched as quickly as possible heading to secure the mining planet and fend of the evil that dug its claws into its soil.
star-wars-armada-1088x816-817021364392.jpg

Mean while, planetside - The largest port on the planet is a prime objective to secure in order to allow the main republic force to approach the surface.

With forward recon units rushing toward the planet surface the sith's own squadrons are scrambling to meet and slow down the main force.
The mines of Donovia however, was prepared and from the window of the main spire in the mining capital [member="Lord Mythos"] crossed his arms. Pulling the strings of the sith presence on Donovia he was confident that regardless of this rather sudden move, by the maimed republic, he would have time to finish his own main objective.

As usual, the republic and their jedi had missed the point of it all...

In the depth of the Donovian mines something terrible was stirring. and the sith lord was about to join the last stages of the ritual to see it through.

The Rebel Alliance stood with the Republic, through thick and thin they always rolled with the punches to try and defend the idea that was freedom. But these were darker days for the republic, freedom was never free and the war against the Sith had sent millions of lives to the chopping block in the name of freedom and democracy. But even then Gen was changing as a person, she had lost that ideal of unity and freedom somewhere along the way and while yes she had taken matters in her own hands to preserve this idea, what was the cost?

The Rebel SpecForce dropship maneuvered down towards the planet, inside of it there was only one man. No team missions today, no blood on his hands for having to spend more lives on this war. Just himself and his own wit against the Sith, that and guns, and a Ysalamir, but mostly wit. With his helmet off he reached into its inner cushion and pulled it back to reveal a picture of his quasi girlfriend Juwiela, it was of her without the blindfold over her non existent eyes, her hair down and her flight suit zipped up. Stroking the picture with his thumb a little he put it back in his helmet and sent a comm message to [member="Juwiela Melec"]

"Hey, I'm sorry I didn't say goodbye. Got called away quick for the ground op, you go kick some ass up there, no matter what happens I'll see you again." Oddball said as he placed his helmet on his head.

"I love you."

The ship lowered down to the ground a few klicks away from the mine and soon a single Dreadguard generation one commando jumped out and hit the ground with a thud, it was time to go to work.

It was strange to be back in the armor after so long, both subjectively and objectively. It had been several hundred years since he had worn this armor as the galaxy measured it and who knew how long for him with those times in and out of stasis? It felt like a very long time, to say the least. Then he'd joined the Mandos and wore their armor for a while, ditching his in an explosion in an attempt to hide his tracks. It had not gone as well as anticipated.

But that time was over now. He was back in action and properly equipped, although the equipment was old and not as of yet up to par for the reality of these situations. This would be a test-run to discover what he needed and he would commission a new set. Probably not from the Republic. He would return home to Mandalore for that, see what remained of clan Skirata and meet his younger family. That would certainly be an interesting homecoming.

But now it was time to clear some tunnels of Sith soldiers. Sith soldiers? That was odd. The Sith had been extinct for milennia, but apparently they were now back and in force. In force enough to smash the Republic through years of warfare. That's what happened when you didn't have a proper army without proper soldiers like himself.

Focus on the mission at hand again, however. He did another run through on his equipment and everything checked clear. Excellent. He deployed from his own ship which took off immediately after to rejoin the fleet and he broke into a jog, scanning the environment for other threats. According to the briefing, he should have an ally in the field nearby to rendezvous with. One called a Dreadguard, whatever that meant. That was something he had yet to understand about this new era, though whispered rumors brought word of a resurgence in something called the Galactic Alliance.

His footsteps pounded against the ground as he ran towards the mine entrance. The war was back on. He grinned.

She didn't know an awful lot about the planet they were visiting. Donovia was in the Expansion Region - that much she knew. It was a mining world of constant rainfall - two more useful facts to draw upon. It was invariably home to those that wished to remain Galactic Republic citizens.

And she knew of, rather than actually knew, the technicians known as Donovian trainmen. Apparently a rainman was any technician who tended the signal towers above the rainy world Donovia. She was told she would easily recognise them by their absurd rain hoods. And she knew the efforts of the rainmen kept the mining traffic to and from Donovia moving smoothly.

And now she was about to find out first hand about the planet - as Raven exited hyperspace and the planet came into view.

With his head on a swivel the clone commando kept moving towards one of the entrances of the mines, and while he did so one of the burning questions on his mind. Why him? Why was he still here after years of fighting and war, why not Jackpot? Why not Scopes? They were both pros and tested way better than himself, yet they didn't make it. They died and he was still standing, still fighting, and most importantly still breathing.

But these thoughts were broken as he picked up a friendly IFF tag in the area. One he didn't recognize, but it was definitely republic in origin. So stomping his way across various pieces of cover and terrain until he was close enough to come into eye range of his fellow soldier.

"Trooper hold up, the entrance could be booby trapped." The clone said as he stopped and took cover behind a tipped mining cart.

Then oddball got a look at the man, the armor he wore. Another fett clone? The clone could see it in their armor and the way they moved, but this one wasn't like him. No Oddball was Confederate generation one Dreadguard, he knew every single one of his ten thousand brothers and sisters, and this wasn't one of them.

"Coming up on your five." he said in his thick Fett clone accent.

Trooper, hold up. The entrance could be booby trapped.

Krenis paused at the entrance to the mine and slipped aside behind the rocks, turning to make eye contact with the other soldier. Katarn armor? A clone commando? He gave a nod of welcome and adjusted his rifle stock, collapsing it down to just below carbine. And that accent.

Coming up on your five.

That was his accent. Or had been, a long time ago before joining the Mando'ade. And the movement of walking. That was how he had walked.

"Roger that," Krenis answered. "Holding fire." He turned to where the man took cover behind the mining cart. He studied the man. Walked the same. Sounded the same. Fett clone. But how and who? "Alpha-class designation 93. Captain Krenis Skirata. Have intel on target locations I've not gotten yet?"

He slung the strap of his rifle over his shoulder and adjusted the sights for close quarters underground combat.

"And, vod," Krenis said after a moment, guessing the language would be familiar, since clone commandos were said to be familiar with the culture, and if he had survived to this day, Mandalorians must have been involved. "I'll take point. And about the booby traps..."

He grinned beneath his helmet. "We can trigger them from a distance."

"Rebel Alliance, headquarters battalion, Colonel Oddball." The clone said as he kept his cover behind the mine cart.

He had a clear eye at the trooper and there was confusion under his helmet, Skirata? That was a mando surname, one that he was only familiar with from the former Mandalore. The only name he had known was Tal'verda, and that was because his brother had led a revolt against the Confederacy and their father. But that was a can of worms the clone didn't want to open up again, too much death over Druckenwell.

"No additional Intel, just a feeling." Oddball said as he placed his rifle on his side and began to reach back and unhook something off of his pack.

Taking a mechanical and spherical device the size of a cantaloupe the clone placed it in his hand and started to program it by pressing a few buttons. It made a whirling sound and soon booted up, whatever it was it certainly was beeping and flashing quite a bit. After the clone had finished programming it he looked over to the arc trooper and spoke.

"Gravity grenade, mines are usually triggered by the weight of a soldier." Oddball then stood up and held it like a shot-put.

"Take point!" He yelled as he lobbed the heavy thing.

The grenade soared through the air and landed at the entrance of the mine and activated. A field of pressure brought down to the ground hard triggered an explosive land mine and caused the entrance to cloud up in dust and smoke.

"Here they come! Go Go Go!!" The clone yelled as he picked up his rifle and waited for the captain to sweep and clear.

"Well met then, Colonel," Krenis replied, eyeing the opening to the tunnel and then studying the other man. What was a Rebel Alliance operative doing on a mission like this? Who was this Rebel Alliance rebelling against? He pushed it into the back of his mind. That was not his concern. He had a tunnel network to clear. "And understood."

He ducked down behind cover, aiming into the the entrance as the other soldier prepared to lob the device. Gravity grenade. Clever. He dropped to a crouch, raising the rifle as the object hurtled through the air towards the entrance and dropped into the entrance. It detonated, and then the explosive in the entrance went off, filling it with dust and rubble. He dove forward, sprinting into the entrance, rifle raised and then ducked along the side, switching to infrared as he ducked inside.

Five hostiles inside. Three in the center. Two on the edge behind the corners. He dove down to the ground, blaster spitting bolts into the assembled Sith troopers. Three went down and the last two ducked behind cover. He had a feeling and ducked forward as a grenade clanked against the ground. He kicked it back down the hallway, ducking behind a corner as it exploded. Rocks and shrapnel clattered across his armor. A soldier darted in front of him, rifle raised. He reacted instinctively, ducking down and swinging back up, rifle as a club, and drove it into the helmet, sending the soldier flying back into the wall.

He paused, observing. No more hostiles he could detect.

"Seems all clear, Colonel. Come join the party."

When the explosion went off the commando did his job by covering the ARC Trooper, with his rifle snapped up he stepped backwards and covered the rear for any Sith patrols that would come around to investigate the explosion and inevitable fire fight that the good captain had just started.

A pair of Sith troopers ran around a corner to see what was going on and were immediately greeted by 22MM explosive tipped rounds that shredded their armor and bodies apart. Once they were gone the clone pushed his way inside the mine to join up with his brother. Stepping over a few dead Sith bodies the clone looked over to the other trooper and chuckled a bit, just like old times really. Fett clones regardless of the generation working side by side to stick it to the enemy.

"Got two outside, more will be coming. We push the objective hard and keep moving before they have time to pincer us." The clone said as he tactically paced himself to the rear of his brother, his eyes still on the front door.

"You're on point captain, let's show them how clones get it done." He said as he slammed a fresh magazine into his rifle and let the bolt slide forward.

With his front still facing the rear the clone remained vigilant and ready to pop off a few rounds when need be. Hopefully they weren't looking at too big of an operating force inside the mine, they didn't want to make the rest of the army look bad when they kicked their asses.

"Echo squad moving in." the com sounded as Weiss and his men started to jog down the first tunnel in a straight line. The caves were damp and cold and while moving forward they passed bodies of dead miners. they were almost icy to the touch and without life support these tunnel were a life hazard in themselves. At least if you were exposed to them for a longer period of time.

"Go easy with the exploding lads, we don't know how stable these tunnels are." Weiss continued as they turned another corner and continued forth. There was not much intel on this mission. That was businesss as usual though and the republic army was used to being deployed very rapidly. Especially true during the last time when the war had taken such a fore boding turn to the worse. Weiss himself had hesitated on joining the Republic, as a former soldier of the Galacitc Empire. But they had allied themselves with the Republic and now he knew why. these were the only ones truly putting up a fight against the cursed sith. This was what he was meant to do.
This was his duty.

She’d been given coordinates for one of the mines. Her task simple. Search and secure.

So she took a glow lamp and activated it as she headed down the shaft. Its beam put a path of luminescence on the semi-translucent floor. The hair-thin filaments in the floor seemed to glow in response, the photons communicating in a tongue she could not comprehend. She fell in behind the beam of her glow lamp and pressed on.

The tunnel split repeatedly. Vertical seams in the walls opened wetly at her approach to reveal tunnels beyond.

The air was acrid and made her eyes leak, turned her throat raw. She wished she’d brought the ankle bracelet that Matsu had gifted her. The blinking patterns of light in the walls and floor drew her on, will-o'-the-wisps tempting her to some fate hse did not understand. Distant explosions could be heard now.

Ahead she saw a large vertical seam, its size suggestive of a much larger opening, a much larger tunnel beyond. The lights in the floor and walls made a kaleidoscope of colour around her, reds, greens, yellows, beckoning her forward, but she slowed, sensing something in the air, some lurking danger that lived in the darkness beyond the door. The hairs on the back of her neck rose. The lights flared more rapidly, more urgently, as if sensing her thoughts. She stopped, swallowed. Sweat collected on her skin.

Without warning, her glow lamp died, then the lights in the walls and floor, leaving only the dim intermittent flashes of the overhead lights. She stood alone in the corridor, bathed in darkness, in light, in darkness, in light.

This planet was dying...

The Core of the planet beneath the very mines was a hellmaze of corridors that drew deeper and deeper into the core of the planet and the further one dropped the more oppressive and inhospitable the temperature became. Mythos had seen such a planet's core on Mustafar while aiding [member="Ultimatum"] in the construction of a facility. Deep in the bowls of Mustafar Mythos conditioned himself to withstand the hellish temperature that this planet's core was unleashing upon his flesh. Sweat brimmed upon his brow dropping slightly on the ground, instantly sizzling upon contact with it's surface.

His hands were extended forward and his eyes closed in a deep dark trance of sith meditation, the axe in front of him floated in the air with the use of the force along with everything around him that was not firmly fastened to the ground.

The reason for his extended mining of this world was because he needed to get access to it's core... he needed time...something he did not have with republic forces catching on to him...yet he still had enough time to complete the ritual and drain the very life from the planet into himself. The idea sounded maddening and he was dissuaded from executing the ability, many considered the ritual to be impossible and nothing more than the musing of ancient sith lords yet Mythos would see to it personally if the tome spoke truth or merely speculation ....right now.

An ancient black scroll rolled before his eyes at the tenth hour of meditation, completely enveloped by the dark side he moved and the very walls of the chamber heaving and protesting at the display of power resonated against his ears... that was a good sign he thought. His eyes opened and the action itself shook the darkside planet wide. He felt a disturbance in the force, he felt danger and possible violence looming over every corner....just as the sith lord had foreseen.

He began to recite the ancient words of power from the tome and by the time the first sentences were uttered the power of the darkside started to emerge from him like a tidal wave of unlimited power that he could not control.... He wasn't ready for this...

He knew if he stopped the ritual the cyclone of energy would tear him apart, yet speaking let alone reading from a floating tome of power was near impossible as the wave of energy acted like a wave of the sea, unstoppable and relentless. Mythos pulled deep from within him, bringing the tome to his hands and the axe to steady himself with the other and began shouting the ancient words to be heard over the dark cyclone of power.

Around him a visible tornado of dark/purplish force energy began to circle and whirl around him, lifting him off his feet and several inches into the air as the words continued to flow distorting Mythos' voice to that of a dark entity, the sound, unfamiliar even to him. Mythos screamed in sith as soon as the ritual was finished. "Awaken Secret of Power!"

The shuttle touched down just outside the main entrance of tge main mining company's administrationsl office.

Troopers rushed out securing the platform and checking the door for bobytraps. So far they encountered no resistance.

Meanwhile two cloaked shapes stood from their seats inside the shuttle belly. The jedi were here to investigate strange reports about creatures from rising from the shadows of thd mines, workers going mad and even the administrational center had shut down not allowing anyone to enter. It all seemed very unrealistic, unless the reports held truth, in which case the jedi investigators would have a very solid reason for being here.

Mantic lead the way down the ramp, stopping as his feet hit solid ground. Slowly he tilted his head somewhat. There were trails of darkness here... yes, rather recent. The threads almost seemed familiair to him.

"Do you sense it padawan?" he asked with a low voice without turning toward [member="Rafeesh"]

Krenis nodded and broke into a jog down the tunnel, rifle up, ready to snap around where needed.

Echo Squad moving in chimed across the comm and Krenis gave a smile. So they had competition now? Excellent. How would the squad hold up compared to two Fett clones? Well, it was time to find out. One couldn't let their reputation be upstaged by normal soldiers. Footsteps?

He slowed behind a corner, listening. Definitely footsteps. Lots of them, jogging. He peeked around the corridor. A squad of Sith soldiers were running. Away from them, actually. Unusual, but convenient. Why were they running that way though? He looked down the other corridor. Dark beasts moved through the shadows. He couldn't tell how many though, but they were slinking towards them.

Well, if a squad of soldiers had decided to run from them, Krenis had to admit there was probably a good reason. Then he had a gut feeling. Something was very wrong, very far below them. He held up his hand to signal a halt before speaking.

"Do you feel it? Something is very wrong. Seems to be below."

Rafeesh had been quiet, after the events of Kashyyyk he was feeling more reserved. He felt more sure of himself in his battle against his past, but he did not trust himself in the physical realm. His mind was still coming to terms with his past, he knew he was not strong enough to deal with a powerful Sith. Yet he was here to learn and he trusted Mantic, he trusted that his master knew what he could handle.

He stood and followed Mantic. When the question was laid before him, Rafeesh closed his eyes and focused his mind on the Force. He could feel the darkness, but in order to better see it he would have to focus himself. He could feel the beginning of something, it was familiar to him too. He could not place except that it was something he knew. It felt like something from his time as a Sith... well that was pretty obvious. He wondered if perhaps it was the spirit of some long dead associate. He prepared himself for battle with a live enemy.

"Something I know. Yes. Darkness. What do you sense?" He contemplated pulling his saber in preparation. He knew this was no false call now. If it was familiar to him then it had to be bad. He was certain, this was not a waste of time. They would fight, he was sure of it. There would be an enemy and he would be dangerous. Rafeesh was not certain of who it would be, which was his greatest concern. He knew however that whoever it was, he would fight to defeat. Darkness like this cannot be left to survive and he would destroy it, not alone, but he would prevail. The Force was on his side.

Oddball at one time was the perfect warrior designed to fight and kill force users, a force made for the confederacy shaped by the Yuuzhan Vong to serve as the galaxies ultimate fighting force. They had conquered the outer rim and had slain masters in the force, but of course all things got old and were replaced by the next generation. Perhaps Oddball was obsolete, but an old dog could still learn new tricks.

"Stay ten meters within my position!" The clone said as he stepped up and enveloped his brother in the force null bubble.

The Ysalamir was a powerful tool indeed, a ten meter bubble where the force couldn't be influenced. So it would give them the ability to not be seen directly via the force and ward off any darkside manifestations that possibly could be these creatures coming their way.

"I got this." Oddball said as he stepped past Skirata.

"Alright lads, who thinks their hard enough?" The clone said as he pumped a tungsten carbide buckshot round into the under barrel shotgun.

It was about time to show the arc trooper how commandos did it. Turning the corner to first face the backs of the fleeing sigh soldiers the clone opened up on them ripping explosive rounds into their backs and heads, emptying the full clip on the now dead squad. Now this part was the gamble, if the beasts were of the force then the Ysalamir would repel them from the field and whatever voodoo crap magics that was going on beneath them.

But if these beasts were not of the force then they were about to taste magnesium and phosphorous coated tungsten buck shot. With the clone aimed up at the beasts where they were rushing down the halls the clone commando began to tactically step forward and fire the 12 gauge rounds into the beasts that were designed to pierce speeder armor until all five shots were empty from the shotgun.

But not being one to take chances once the clip was empty the clone let the weapon rest on its strap as he grabbed the .50 caliber bladed revolver at his hip and aimed it into the darkness.

"Whenever you're ready to save the world captain." Oddball said as he chuckled

"I am not sure." he answered [member="Rafeesh"] "But somehow these dots are connected to us in a way..." he paused and pondered.

It was as if his sight was blurry. The pattern was familiar yet, he could not follow the threads properly. The web was incomplete here, or corrupted to such an extent that it's creator managed to stay hidden.

The troopers had secured the platform and there was no sign of hostility yet. It was calm, almost foreboding. Moving toward the entrance the rain felt hard and cold, as if shouting a warning.

"We must be cautious padawan. I have a bad feeling about this." Mantic warned as the door swished open revealing a control room lit up by emergency light only.
Hopefully these computers might hold some answers on what had transpired on Donovia.

There was rumble in the force that could be felt planet wide when Mythos split the axe from the force wound. Dark energy heaved and twisted from it's core in a sickening presence of malicious intent. It was then Mythos stumbled slightly and his concentration slipped opening his body to be torn apart by the dark forces he was trying to control. It was then Adas stepped in and with the small power his ghost had, steadied Mythos back into focus.

Even through the tidal wave of dark energy his deep voice could be heard in Mythos' mind speaking clear sith into his thoughts. "Steady yourself, i will not waste myself on the weak Mythos, fail and i will see to it that your spirit suffers for eternity"

He shifted his stance to give the vortex his shoulder, heaving the axe in one hand and his open palm open in the air as the dark energy whirled and crashed against his body yet the power of the axe kept him anchored to this physical plane of existance. He screamed as hard as he could to keep his focus, the pain and agony of the force ripping through his body scorched his very soul and ripped his skin off his body, yet he was able to survive with the help of his artifact of power.

It was then it came, a scream that could be felt universally amplified from the power of the axe creating a small force wound on the core of the planet and obliterating the walls of the core. What stood inside the walls of the core... was no longer the Mythos that initiated the ritual. An eternity passed before the dust was settled and the ritual began it's second phase. The power of the force whirled uncontrollably from the force wound and the fabric of reality began to blur and snap. Mythos stood, lifted his open palm and continued reciting the words. The wound protested with vortex nova of force energy that began to create a small object inside his hand feeling like a cold crystal. His body again, fell under the assault of waves of destructive force and the axe was the only thing tethering him to this physical world.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Jar'Kai and the Bastions felt the disturbance and took their cue. Inside the very walls of the core the elite fighting force of Atrisia began to move out and secure the points of entry that lead to their masters' ritual. Their mission: Protect Mythos or die trying.

The Jar'Kai were force users, lightsaber wielders but also soldiers and fighters trained in the most brutal and unforgiving environments the galaxy had to offer, from Atten II to Naboo the Jar'Kai had been tested and they had been found glorious. Divided into three divisions, they took their intended ambush points, sensing the incoming enemies and laughing at the poorly trained sith soldiers who acted as fodder.

The Bastions were assassin droids, armed with swords made of woven Cortosis that could slice through most blast armor with ease. They held the forward ground before the Jar'Kai and were tasked with only attacking enemies who wielded lightsabers or otherwise showed force abilities. This... was a test for the republic. This was the very best the One Sith had to offer standing along side the elite Black Blade guard of Panatha, the Jar'Kai were on a league of their own and the bastions as well.

Krenis smiled as Oddball went into action, cutting down the squad as he turned to face to the beasts making their way towards them. He didn't understand why he had to stay within ten meters and what that involved. But he'd stick with that. Rifle up, he covered the corridor back towards where the squadron had been going. It was clear that way. Another barrage and the beasts were down.

"Excellent job, colonel. And as for saving the world," He added another energy pack to his rifle, "Anytime."

He paused again as something rumbled through the ground around them. "Let's go down."

Krenis began heading down the tunnel, searching for an access tunnel further down. One tunnel seemed to head down rather steeply. He gestured to it. "Let's try this way."

He slipped into the tunnel, studying the tunnel in front of him. "Watch your step."

Now and then one of the others members of her healing team from the Silver Cross came to cheek in for more orders. Even now she had on her long flowing silver robe that had the symbol of the Silver Sage on the middle of her back. Even then she couldn't help but go over to another of the worker that seem to have been work to the bone. Putting a hand upon his head. "Shhhh its okay, I got you let me help you over to that tent there a nice cox with blanket and food. "

Taken up a better part of a few hours to set up this camp of Hope. Calling it that as she let those that was running the show know.

"*Cheeking in this is Hope camp all is set already receiving incoming*" as she broke up and then went back to work. Knowing that her work had only beginning. Letting all come that was seeing protection and food and shelter.
