The sewers of Coruscant were a location that was far removed from the public consciousness for one reason or another. Perhaps it was simply beyond the comprehension of those living high on the top, or far too small of a concern for the lower dwellers that were struggling to make ends meet. Still, this ancient system of pipeways that had stood for thousands of years was a lifeline that kept the bustling city-world moving. To have it severed would mean the deaths of untold millions.

When rumors began to circulate of individuals slipping into the waterways, the threat of sabotage was recognized immediately. With growing unrest in the criminal underworld taking up the majority of local authority's resources, however, the job fell to the Jedi.

That's how Loomi understood it, anyways. A task force of padawans being assembled to go down into the sewers certainly wasn't the strangest thing that had happened to her while in the New Jedi Order. Ukatis still had to be the top of that list. Still, she couldn't exactly say that she was overly thrilled with this particular assignment. It was the sewers, after all. Gross channels of murky water that probably had the plague. Even with no memories of any kind of distaste for dirt and grime, something about filthy water brought out an instinctual repulsion. Perhaps it was simply in her nature...

Still, the job was simple. Walk through the sewers, look for anyone who may be tampering with the planet's plumbing, and promptly send them packing. Easy enough. That didn't mean she had to enjoy it. One step into the system was enough to make the young Godoan's face sour.

"Golly," she grimaced. "Feels like something died in here."

Even the force was pungent and gross in this place. Her antennae curled back instinctively, as if to shelter themselves from something.

Unfortunately, they still had a job to do.

Howdy! This here is a more chill, padawan based adventure thread that I whipped up. If that seems interesting to you, more info can be found here. You can leave a message in the lfg or reach out to me personally if you may want to join.

Thanks!

Mago was a lover of good food, of clean bed sheets, the smell of the library in the Temple. He had been living inside it's massive walls for a long time now, hardly given a reason to leave. And now he had a mission, a real task given to him and a few other padawans. This would be great, some time with his peers out in the world and solving a problem!

That's what he thought, anyway. The sewers was their destination. There was no good food down here, only in the past tense. Good luck finding a bedsheet that wasn't soaked all the way through, and the smell... how did anything start to smell so bad?

"Golly," she grimaced. "Feels like something died in here."
Mago was a Miraluka, and with that came no eyes. With no eyes came Force Sight, seeing and sensing the world around him in all directions. And sometimes, in a deeper way than mere sight could show. "Something has. A lot of somethings." He reported, though he regretted opening his mouth. The air itself tasted humid and stale and rancid and it invaded your mouth the moment you opened it. He covered his mouth with his robe. "Where are these people supposed to be, again? I don't sense anyone around but us right now."

The stench was especially horrid to his nostrils but Kuzon maintained a calm demeanor as much as possible. Having been raised on Kashyyyk and done work in wilderness on several worlds, city sewers were mostly a new experience for him. Then again Coruscant in general can be overwhelming but he wouldn't complain. The Bothan padawan staying close to the others wore his Jedi tunic but left behind the robe, deeming it unnecessary for this occasion. He tried to listen with his pointed ears for anything unusual but all that could be heard was the sludge and water dripping down nearby.

Very ancient indeed. I wonder how far back these structures go exactly.

As soon as that thought came he suppressed it. As much as he would love to research they had a duty to carry out. Keeping his left hand on the hilt of the lightsaber attached to his belt Kuzon carefully glanced around the tunnel they were in. At the other padawans' remarks he closed both eyes in mild annoyance. Like he needed a reminder right now as he fought back the urge to gag.

Seconds later Kuzon replied.

"Just because we haven't sensed anyone in this vicinity doesn't mean they couldn't be in another part of these sewers. So we need to be through and…careful too."

Dressed in a practical, dark forest green, synthweave and armorweave midi dress. A saber clipped to her hip and brown blaster on the other one. With long black thigh boots to avoid any mess. Following up stories of sewers, was not the star story people might expect for the HNN wannabe to be chasing up. She wanted to tell the stories nobody heard, the little people's struggles and victories. These were the places you'd find those stories.

When she'd heard Jedi padawans were involved, she asked to tag along. Following behind them all with a small datapad plus recorder in her hand for an audio or written log. Maybe there was a story here at the bottom of this, that she could catch people's attention with. Sad that people needed that headline to listen.

Feeeeew It stunk. Really stunk to her. Like Uncle Patches day while he was cooking some spicy raw nibulan beet stew. Her kitchen would stink for days after that! Good thing she'd brought nose plugs, plugged in for instant relief. Didn't stop the taste in her mouth, but these Cardellian mints might. Offering a mint to Mago Leomax Mago Leomax when she saw he was struggling, and then anyone else who needed it.

Putting a holopointer pen in her mouth. She was really struggling with how to start this diary entry. Entry 1 Saviors of the sewers! No. Jedi make good on local blockages. No. Coruscant's underclass saved by Jedi watch. Better. She'd work on it.

The back of her neck prickled up when they spoke, and her canines wanted to extend, instead rolling the mint around in her mouth. For her two credit-chits, she spoke up. "Any idea where the last guys disappeared?" The teen asked. Not trained or skilled as much in force sense as the others, it was a good place to start.

"Something has. A lot of somethings."

"Oh," Loomi frowned at this revelation. "Got it..."

That was gross, but it made sense. A place like this surely had it's fair share of small rodents of some kind that fell into the water and died. Questions soon began to fly about the people who had disappeared into the sewers. Frankly, Loomi didn't exactly know herself aside from the fact that they had just been seen entering.

"Well, we know that they came in, but..." the Godoan trailed off. She quickly procured a datapad and flipped through the briefing information. "Yeah, they were just seen last a day ago. No exit from the system was ever recorded... I think we're going in blind. Er, figuratively, I mean."

One of them was blind, so that was an important distinction to make. Probably. Maybe it wasn't, but Loomi wasn't taking any chances. Despite her natural repulsion to the environment, the teen crouched down to get a better feel for the space, her force tracking taking effect. A hint of burning became aware to her, a patch of something on the walls of the sewers. Loomi stood, assessing the mark.

"Plasma burn," she relayed. "That... shouldn't be down here, right?"

Mago could feel Loomi Loomi and Kuzon Lu’ten , their Force Signatures like fingerprints. It's how he told people apart mostly, aside from voices and gaits. But the Silver Jedi Padawan, Amelia Amadis Amelia Amadis , was new to him. He was a excited to meet a new padawan, and from a different order to boot, but was still a little unsure of her. Just new people and all that. And he knew Loomi and Kuzon, but this new girl? He felt like he had to show off or something, even though he was still all new to this.

And when she offered him a mint, the only nice-smelling thing in here, he decided he liked her a little bit more. He gratefully took it and slowly sucked on it, letting the minty flavor overwhelm everything else. He nodded his thanks with a smile, not wanting to open his mouth just yet.

"Plasma burn," she relayed. "That... shouldn't be down here, right?"

And every now and then he was reminded the difference between his sight and others. He couldn't see the plasma burn on the wall like Loomi and others could, only feel and sense them through a variety of senses but mostly Force Sense. "I'm... guessing people shouldn't be shooting at eachother down here." He was so thankful for the mint, by the force. "You're right Kuzon, we do need to be more careful. And not just of infection."

Kuzon eyed up the scorch mark silently. In his time with the Silver Jedi he had witnessed those who fired plasma guns and on occasion been on the receiving end of it. They just might be dealing with a possible crime scene, he concluded. Glancing around he checked for any further clue. Subsequently the Bothan paused noting a few foot prints inches to the left side.

Gesturing to his fellow padawans to his discovery he got closer. Kneeling down over them Kuzon remarked.

"Can't tell how many there were, at least from the look of things.”

The footprints that got most of his attention was something all too familiar to him. Grimacing and checking again he sighed.

"One of them was a Transdosen at least. I recognize those kind of claw marks from anywhere."

Pausing momentarily he saw something else that caused his face to turn pale. Reaching with his left hand Kuzon picked some long strands of fur before looking at the footprints. The fur had been around the Transdosen prints and that gave him a sickening suspicion.

Turning back to the others, Kuzon cleared his throat.

"This is Wookiee fur but I don't see any footprints from one and it was around the Transdosen's. Meaning…that this suspect could be wearing…a…Wookiee pelt."

He went silent, letting that information sink in to the others. Wookiees are not easily slain.

No exit from the system was ever recorded

Going in blind, a mystery, she chewed on the end of her holopen. Amelia was highly self-reliant and quick to follow a lead. So we know they didn't leave. Probably. A twinge to her expression for what that meant. "Can I see that please?" She asked to borrow Loomi Loomi 's datapad to get the scoop.

More interested in the people they were looking for, probably the reporter in her. Did they have any habits, pets, smells, or behaviors that might help? What they were wearing? Chewing on the end of her pen, she was scribbling down notes. Fears, likely reactions to danger, could they be prone to hiding, running, or fighting? Building a psychological profile on her datapad. She was realizing she was fast at this, and it was coming naturally. Her pen could barely keep up with her questions.

Infection. Weapons fire. A scrawl of notes when she was done, that she started to arrange. Investigating was so interesting, she was loving it. Dad would always tell her, to be sure you had a clear head first. She could almost hear his voice right now, listen first. Breath. Don't rush.

So she did, she listened, and wrote, then wrote some more. Returning any offered datapad when she'd written anything of note.

Wookiee pelt? She lived around Wookiees and had grown up around them. That stung. For a moment in the force her aura flickered, and her skin tone altered very slightly at the thought of someone hurting a Wookie.

"Trandoshan. Plasma fire. In the sewers where nobody will miss them. No exit recorded. Hunter maybe with trophies. Multiple footsteps."

"Hunters giving chase? We have to find them quickly."
That was always the young teen's preference they might soon discover!

OOC: Victims
Leaving any Victim Details she finds out up to you Loomi to build out the story.

"Golly," Loomi grimmaced.

She didn't like Trandosens. They were a mean bunch, hunting people for sport and very willing to enslave people. Something about wearing the skin of a sentient being sent shivers down her spine. The Silver Jedi padawan seemed to feel similarly as well, her skin briefly flickering a different tone.

Of course, Loomi didn't reflect on it much. They had more pressing matters at hand.

"Hunters giving chase? We have to find them quickly."

"I think I already found them..." the Godoan muttered, pointing towards the water.

As she did, a body slowly drifted past. They had found their Trandosen, Wookie pelt draped over his shoulders and at least seven blaster bolts through the man's chest. His eyes were lifelessly rolled back into his head as his corpse floated down from whatever danger lied ahead.

That was a bad sign for how the rest of the mission was going to progress.

Sorry for the delay. Had a bit of an IRL holdup.

Now when Mago focused on the wall, he could see the claw marks Kuzon pointed out. He had thought them to just be part of the stone or idle scratches but, well yes thats what it was. Scratches. He should have noticed them before. And Trandoshan. Those... He wracked his brain for that name. Those were the lizard hunter guys, right? He had read some stories about them getting mixed up with Jedi Padawans in the past.

At the mention of the Wookie pelt he saw Amelia's aura flicker. She... didn't like that at all. Pain, and a little bit of anger? Jedi shouldn't feel anger, he had been told. Or, when they did they quickly got rid of it. Amelia seemed to get rid of it, her aura quickly returning to normal. He himself didn't like the idea of a wookie being skinned. It was gross and disturbing to think about. He pictured it, the skin peeling off and- No! Deep breath in, deep breath out. No fear, no Trandoshan was going to do that.

If those scratches were on the wall, maybe he could 'see' more of those marks and track where this hunter went! Mago could see through walls with his Force Sight, so with the idea to look for scratches in mind, he began looking outward in all directions...

And immediately froze in place. He... hadn't seen that before. Heard about it. A lot about it, the past few years. His legs shook and he couldn't move. It got closer, slowly meandering closer and closer to them. He couldn't breath, his own lungs locked up. He grabbed at the center of his robes. It got closer, twenty meters, then ten, then five...

"I think I already found them..." the Godoan muttered, pointing towards the water.

Loomi pointed at the focus of Mago's attention. The dead body. It wasn't whole, but filled with small craters, like something had chewed into him. And he wore furs, another dead thing around a dead thing. As it passed Mago pushed himself against the wall, as far away from it as he could get. His breaths were deep and even, his head pointed straight out despite his sight watching it drift ever onward past them.

Kuzon looked back and forth with his fellow padawans, taking in their reactions to the situation at hand. He found himself at a loss for words. Death is an undeniable part of existence. His own master had been gone not too long and the hurt can be still raw at times. The Bothan squeezed one hand in the midst of his conflicted soul.

I know that Master Vidya has become one with the force yet I still grieve. She wouldn't want me to dwell on it.

Watching the reptilian corpse float on by Kuzon gave the other Jedi a questioning glance then took a deep breath before exhaling. He rushed over to the side and lifting one hand used the force to pull the corpse back into his direction against the current. He couldn't lift the body out of the filth ridden water entirely alone but it's a start.

Coming closer he called out gesturing with the opposite arm.

"Give me a hand here. Perhaps we could find some clues on him."

Saying no more Kuzon reached out grabbing the corpse’s by the pelt worn shoulcers. Disgusted in more ways than one but nevertheless he struggled with gritted teeth trying to pull the dead Transdoesn onto the pavement.

All her chatty teenage excitement went quickly quiet.

Raised around nature, and parented by two bold Silvers, Amelia possessed a strong stomach. "Mwokk vweb", wookiee slang for an uncomfortable surprise. Confirming his hunter's pelt sadly, she started pulling two gloves over her hands. Amelia hated it but she helped, squatting over the side near Kuzon. Reaching down to help pull their hunter from his mucky fate.

Teen wannabe reporters were not exactly the strongest of their four brave padawans. Yet Kuzon Lu’ten wasn't alone when he tried, and together they could heave his body out. "One… Two…. Pullllllllaaa" She really did try. Smallest amount of force pull in her grip, but much of her effort still came from her thin arms. Sinking realization crept over her that she was seeing death. She'd seen elder Wookiees laid to rest by their family, but this was colder and unnatural. Who would bury him?

Pressing her boots against the rim of their pavement, she exhaled, "one… two…" and she heaved again, assuming Kuzon and anyone else were still pulling, they might have their floating Trandoshan resting on land hopefully. Well, there was her story… and now her turn to avert her eyes. Gulping and moving to squat further away. His hunter's pelt was still causing her discomfort to be around, she kept seeing her Wookiee fur wherever she tried to look.

"What did this?" She asked somewhat innocently, looking over his injuries, and who or what would leave him in a place like this? Curling up to her feet, she shuffled toward Mago Leomax Mago Leomax just to be with him. Not saying anything much because what could she say except, "it'll be alright." Hands folded to her belt, rocking back and forth on her feet. She looked at him then at her boots. Everyone had felt shocked, guess she just dealt by doing, then boot watching.
