The Colluctari Nebula: Adoption

Well-Known Member
Okay, so I made this planet almost two years ago believe it or not. I have not developed it any further. A few people have interacted with the Nebula and what not, but no one has actually attempted to breach the surface of the planet, probably because they would assume it would be breaching my trust or would require my permission to do so.

However, directly into the submission I said if I didn't do anything with it in six months, I gave full rights to anyone who wanted to explore its depths on their own to describe the thriving ecosystem of the rogue world.

Since this has not happened, I'm officially putting the entire planet up to exploratory adoption.

I want someone to find the actual planet, and go underneath the ice to discover the isolated civilization. What this entails, is that you will be given full rights to create any sort of creature you want under there, given some guidelines. Maybe even a contest of sorts if there is enough interest.

So who wants to adopt a planet? :p

I actually started thinking about this when I went through and cataloged Raven space and assets..

What kind of guidelines did you have in mind, since I was going to make some stuff up in the future for it anyway, may as well stay true to intent ;p

Basically, just stay true to the description of the planet:

"... evolved from [extremophilic] fungus. ... deriving energy from inorganic sources. It is divided into three categories, The Fungal Forest, Parasites, and Parasite Hunters. Parasites attempt to steal organic energy from the massive Fungal Forest, and the Fungal Forest fights back by using hormonal communication to call Parasite Hunters to eat them. Some Parasite Hunters though also eat other Hunters, and Parasites [sometimes leech] off of each other. There are many kinds of Fungi down [below], but there is one world enveloping biological superstructure named the Collucterren, with [mycelium] running throughout the central core of the planet, and massive trunks that send out fish like spores to repopulate destroyed areas (either from environmental change or from the occasional moon fall that warms the world and provides renewed chemical reaction for increase in growth)"

So here's a list of things to consider when making the intelligence or whatever else down below:

  • All creatures are fungal in nature, and extremophilic (resistant to extreme changing temperatures, resistant to increased extreme salinity in the water, chemosynthesizers off of inorganic material, etc. etc.)
  • All creatures survive off of the well being of the Collucterren (Parasites leech life out of it, so it attracts the food source of Parasite Hunters, all life eventually becomes decomposed into the Collucterren, and the Collucterren also grows straight off of the inorganic material of planet itself over a span of millions of years, to the point its tendrils have reached the center of the planet)
  • All creatures must be able to withstand five times standard gravity
  • No creature will fully comprehend time, and will have no normal sleeping pattern, due to the irregular structure of their planetary system
Also, I saw your list and noticed you would like to "...find medical or recreational drug ingredients", which I absolutely encourage you to explore. :)

[member="Jaster of clan Awaud"] That's the point of this thread, that's for YOU to decide. So far, the only bit of lore I made here was the nebula, I haven't done anything with it since.

I'm putting it up for adoption, so that people can take it and create creatures and lore for it all on their own, without the need for my approval :)

I'll still offer up my hand to help with anything like creature design, because there is literally nothing I LOVE more than making up aliens.

Well then deal making shall happen, your territory is in the area of influence my company wish to trade with.

Shall I PM you to talk about the deals?

I'm not much of a planet care taker type sorry, that's a whole area I'm not 100% on.

[member="Jaster of clan Awaud"] Lol, what did you think Adoption meant?

Nonetheless, that's fine, I'm sure Chiasa will make a fine planet mother or whatever lol

Unless of course anyone else has a more compelling reason to adopt it than the head of the person that holds it within her faction's territory?

[member="Enigma"] I'm looking more of a race creator, but maybe you can work that out with Chiasa who owns the space?

Maybe you could find some sort of fungal creature under there that could assist in some way with manufacturing your synthesized tibanna gas?

We do have a contract!

Also ogod, doing so much fungus reading. Many opportunities but so much learning. My head will explode. I JUST FINISHED DOING SCIENCE THINGS [member="Fatty"] YOU JERK. (May or may not have made an actual effective stealth ship with no crystals or handwavium)

But this is mine and I will fight people.

[member="Jaster of clan Awaud"]

Maybe. We could certainly thread. That said it is largely only your Healers Guild status that's saving you from being seen as stepping on my toes and turf already when it comes to drugs ;)

[member="Chiasa Kritivaas"] Quite interesting! I'll be curious to see what you come up with :p

Also fyi, I may add a few things myself but the majority of everything will be on you guys :D

i.e. why not a fungus that is as strong as some sort of metal (since it withstands five times standard gravity and literally eats rocks), but due to its fungal nature is super light, however it has the drawback of being capable of being cut by other fungus of the same variety, and is only strong when fed regularly and consistently?

Just some food for thought :)

Nothing to see here

That's what caught my eye, my Biotech is slightly lagging and your fugues was seeming like a good buissness operations. Something on the smaller scale then whole armor and possible plant life that can be turned into a weapon.

As I stated up top, I'm not just a medical drug company, but also a biotech. Anything I find in your territory is your dibs and my company would supply it. Weather it's genetic modified beast, to fugues armor, it's your territory and you make the rules.

Also soon the corporate sector will be delving into trade and transport. So that's another contract we can talk about on a later date.

As for medical or drug related, my labs while in your territory are for your usage in what you or your nation deems fit.
