STRENGTHS
  • HIMS - A system designed to effectively counter an Interdiction Field; the system shuts off the Hyperdrive System utilizing a gravitic anomaly sensor while also sustaining a hyperspace bubble around the vessel. The system ensures that a starship is not torn from hyperspace and prevents damage to the hyperdrive system while utilizing forward momentum to propel the vessel.
  • Hangar Capacity - The Bolaph was designed to accommodate a large number of support vessels that are housed in multiple hangar bays located along the exterior and underside of the craft. Some of these hangar bays are large enough that they are capable of taking in smaller vessels up to 1000 meters in length, with a common practice being maintaining at least two hospital frigates within the Bolaph at all times.
  • AR-0B Damage Reduction Component - A specialized system that maintains an ablative current that assists in the removal of harmful debris. It is designed to extend the longevity of a vessel's hull plating by mitigating the damage caused by said harmful debris; often as a result of weapon strikes upon the hull.
  • GalaxyGuard Mk VII - Designed as a means of extending the operational range of the Deflector Shields and providing additional endurance. Each system, when utilized in tandem, permits a vessel to sustain additional fire from an enemy vessel. This added endurance and operational range means that a vessel can remain in the firefight for longer periods before having to withdraw.
  • Extreme Defenses - Mirroring the belief and image that the Jedi are the Protectors and Keepers of the Peace, the Bolaph was designed to omit offensive weaponry that would otherwise be seen on a vessel of its size. This has led to the addition of multiple anti-missile and point-defense weaponry in lieu of heavier weapons such as Turbolaser Cannons and Ordnance Launchers.
  • Medical Facilities - The Bolaph can also serve in the role of a dedicated hospital ship due to it being equipped with multiple medical facilities throughout the vessel. Each facility is equipped with surgical suites, recovery rooms, bacta tanks, and medical droids to assist in the recovery of both Jedi and civilians alike.

WEAKNESSES
  • HIMS - Though capable of preventing a vessel from being torn from Hyperspace due to the effects of an Interdiction Field, it cannot permit a vessel already under the effects of such a field from jumping into Hyperspace. In addition, though sufficient enough to pass through nearly any interdictor field, it cannot overcome the effects of the gargantuan fields, such as that created by the Centerpoint Station.
  • Unarmed - The design of the Bolaph is intended to remind the people of the Galaxy that the Jedi are Keepers of the Peace first and foremost. Thus, the vessel was designed to omit offensive weaponry that would have otherwise classified it as a Super Star Destroyer. The purpose of the Bolaph is to locate and train new Younglings and Padawans for the Jedi Order, and to assist the peoples of the galaxy in a medical capacity negating the need for any form of weaponry that would mark the vessel as a weapon of war.
  • Fighter Escort - Though the vessel was designed with a multitude of additional hangar bays and an increased capacity to carry additional smaller craft, it lacks the means to otherwise support military vessels. While the Bolaph is also capable of carrying smaller vessels no larger than a cruiser, likewise, it does not have the capabilities in terms of workshops and supplies to support dedicated capital ships utilized in a military capacity. In the event of such an attack on the Bolaph, though capable of withstanding such an attack due to its defenses, it would still require the support of military starfighters and capital ships to repel such an attack in a military capacity.
  • Automated Systems - As a means to ensure that the craft could operate with a smaller crew of retired veterans or volunteers, much of the internal workings and systems of the Bolaph are completely automated save for the most critical systems. This ensures that the vessel can still operate without needing to draw upon a higher pool of manpower; however, the downside to this is that these systems are highly vulnerable to Ion or EMP attacks which could render the systems inert or otherwise inoperable with the potential of rendering the Bolaph dead in the water.
  • Minimal Maneuverability - The Bolaph is as maneuverable as a vessel of its size can be in relation to similarly sized vessels according to the Anaxes War College. This does not, however, mean that the Bolaph is capable of turning on a dime or initiating rapid maneuvers that smaller craft are capable of, likewise, by no means would the vessel be capable of outrunning more nimble and maneuverable craft that may be engaging the vessel.
  • Planetary Landing - While the Bolaph design was heavily inspired by the older Acclamator-class line of vessels, it does lack one of the more noticeable and common capabilities of that line of vessels. Due to its size, the Bolaph is incapable of safely or easily landing planetside and is heavily dependent upon support craft to resupply or ferry crew and passengers from the vessel to the surface of a planet.

DESCRIPTION
As the Great Hyperspace Wars come to a close and Peace and Stability begin to return to the Galaxy, gone are the times of great Galactic Powers that could easily ignore the plight of the people and focus merely on an ongoing machine of war. While in times gone by the vessel would have been offered to another Force Sect, the stability that the Galactic Alliance provides and the Peace Keepers of the New Jedi Order deem that such a gift be naturally provided by them to bolster their numbers as conflict with both Mandalorians and Sith are all the more likely. The Bolaph - Mon Calamarian for Tranquil - is the spiritual successor to the ancient Chu'unthor and the Praxeum vessels of the Jedi Order of old that would train Padawans and Jedi alike as they traversed the Galaxy prior to their eventual loss in the closing days of the Old Republic.

Designed with the intention of serving the Jedi and the common populace of the Galaxy, the Bolaph lacks any means of offensive capabilities as is common on many civilian ships both to provide additional hangar capacity and increased room for passengers and additional training facilities. Furthering its appearance as a vessel of peace rather than war, the Bolaph is also equipped with several medical facilities each in turn outfitted with multiple surgical suites, recovery rooms, and bacta tanks to provide medical assistance to Jedi and planets that have been struck with a natural disaster. The Bolaph is also capable of being deployed to war zones or areas of conflict to render humanitarian aid or provide a means for wounded troopers to recover. In place of offensive weaponry that would be more common on a vessel of its size, the Bolaph was designed with a heavier defensive capability in mind as can be seen by the inclusion of anti-missile weaponry, point-defense laser cannons, and Ion Cannons.

Though capable of supporting hundreds of squadrons of smaller craft or carrying hospital ships in its extended hangar bay, the Bolaph lacks the means of supporting military craft in any capacity when compared to a Dedicated Carrier or a vessel that is capable of supporting attack craft. Likewise, though able to dock vessels up to the size of a cruiser within its hangar bays, the Bolaph cannot support military capital ships in a similar capacity due to lacking the supplies, workshops, and other means to render military assistance. Due to these limitations, the Bolaph, while capable of defending itself and withstanding an attack, would otherwise require assistance from Capital Vessels in order to ensure its safety in the event that it is deployed to a center of conflict.

Much of the internal capabilities of the Bolaph are geared towards its designation as a Praxeum - or Academy - vessel for the New Jedi Order, which can be seen in the meditation chambers as well as holosimulators and simulation rooms that are located throughout the vessel. Each of these rooms is often utilized by Masters to provide additional training to their padawans or to see to the training of younglings prior to their arrival at a Jedi Temple. The Bolaph is also heavily automated as a means to ensure that the vessel can operate with a smaller pool of manpower - often drawn from retired veterans or volunteers. The primary downside of this automation is that these systems can be knocked out via sustained ion weaponry strikes or from the effects often associated with an EMP device or weapon. In the event that these systems were rendered inert, there is the possibility that the Bolaph itself would be dead in the water and incapable of operating as needed due to its smaller crew requirements.

Among the vast array of educational spaces located within the vessel is a replica of the 'Room of a Thousand Fountains' located in the Jedi Temple on Coruscant as well as a handful of additional botanical gardens and greenhouses which are utilized to collect, document, and preserve various Flora found throughout the Galaxy. A few of these areas also include Meditation Gardens to assist Jedi in meditating on the living force while also providing a means of additional relaxation after a long day of training or work on the Bolaph.

The Bolaph was originally a conceptual plan that was meant to see operational use and deployment within the Confederacy of Independent Systems prior to its collapse some forty years ago. With the politics of the Galaxy having shifted as governmental powers rose and fell, the stability and peace that is offered by the Galactic Alliance has provided a new home in which the vessel can be deployed. To further their peacekeeping and assist in securing the stability of the Galaxy, the Bolaph was constructed and emblazoned with the emblem of the New Jedi Order and is to be provided to the Jedi as a means to continue their legacy and the legacy of the Praxeum ships of old.
