Faction Description

The Black Empire is a collection of dark side, criminal, and terrorist organizations bound to the power-base of the Dark Lord Darth Carnifex based on the jungle planet of Panatha.

Originally a territorial acquisition of the One Sith Empire, the planet of Panatha (and the Pacanth Reach) enjoyed more autonomy than most planets absorbed into the ever-expanding One Sith Empire, mostly in part because its God-King was one of the most powerful and influential Sith Lords within the Empire at the time. However; after the severing of the trade route connecting the isolated Reach to the infinitely more wealthy Core Worlds the planet was left on its own in the void, deprived of the economic privileges it received because of its inclusion with the One Sith Empire.

Trade was continually attempted on behalf of Darth Vornskr, but because of the heavy Alliance presence along the hyperspace routes near the former trade route those supply convoys were frequently raided and destroyed, and Panatha faced an economic crisis never before experienced. Frustrated with the Empire's inability to provide aid to his own people, and armed with a newfound view on the Force that fell out of line with the mainstream ideology of the One Sith, Darth Vornskr cast off his name and assumed both the mantle of Dark Lord of the Sith and a new moniker; Darth Carnifex.

Carnifex proceeded to fake his own death, destroying his Coruscanti Black Pyramid in a single fantastical explosion that took a good chunk of the surrounding Coruscanti skyline in the process, and relocated to his citadel on Panatha. Emboldened by his newfound freedom from the stifling old ideology of the One Sith, Carnifex proceeded to recall all of his subordinates from across the galaxy, and sent encoded messages to those disenfranchised Sith Lords and Ladies to come and pledge their loyalty to him in exchange for power, prestige, and wealth.

Many flocked to his banner, Sith, rogue Imperials, and criminals alike, and in a grand procession at Vain Hollow he proclaimed the creation of a new Empire with himself as its leader.

Thus the Black Empire was born.

The Black Knights of the Sith

After Darth Carnifex left the One Sith many fledgling and disenfranchised Sith were quick to flock to his banner due to a combination of his infamy and influence as a former high-ranking member of the Order. Realizing that without a cohesive hierarchy to corral the mass of Sith now at his disposal, they would quickly become unruly and infighting would swiftly dominate his new sect of Sith. After extensively researching ancient texts concerning the eras of Darth Krayt and Exar Kun, Carnifex successfully fused the ideologies of the One Sith and the Brotherhood of the Sith together into what would become the Black Knights of the Sith.

Like countless Sith Orders before it, the Black Knights followed a very simple hierarchy consisting of:

Dark Lords of the Sith - Derived from the ancient texts of Exar Kun, the Black Knights of the Sith are led by a pair of Dark Lords in a manner similar to that of Exar Kun and Ulic-Qel Droma. They are the highest authority within the Order, and serve not only as the leaders of the newly established knights, but also the supreme commanders of the Black Empire the knights are an integral aspect of.

Sith Knight-Lords - Knight-Lords serve a similar function to those of Sith Lords in that they are one of the highest positions a Sith can aspire to. However; they are bound together by the iron will of the Dark Lords, and are tasked with leading and organizing warbands of Sith Knights into battle against the enemies of the Empire.

Sith Knights - Fully trained apprentices who have been cordially knighted by their respective Lord/Lady. Sith Knights can come equipped with a wide variety of specializations that allow any one warband of Sith Knights to tackle any situation they may be confronted with. Besides the standard warrior, sorcerer, and assassin specializations here are three others associated only with the Black Knights.

Sith Hoplites - Warriors trained in the use of saber-pikes and energy shields, these Sith have been taught to work in unison to take down large groups of opponents with deeply honed shield walls and phalanx formations. In the events of the collapse of unit cohesion, they are capable of fighting as the standard Sith Warrior many are familiar with.

Sith Hussars - Despite the advancement of technology and methods of waging war, it is not uncommon to see cavalry elements present in modern day armies. The Sith Hussars are one such new innovation created specifically for the Black Knights. They are agile knights sat astride sturdy speeder bikes armed with saber-pikes and ranged weapons to run down, flank, and encircle enemy forces smashed by regular Sith and Imperial forces.

Sith Alchemists - The rarest of specializations known to the Black Knights, Alchemists are former Sorcerers who eschewed the ways of mainstream Sith Magic in exchange for a nearly unrivaled mastery of potions, toxins, and hexes to debilitate enemies from afar. These cloak-shrouded Sith can lob vials of magic-infused toxins from afar to bathe enemies in destructive energies, leaving them vulnerable to the blades of warriors. They can also brew regenerative potions to reconstitute their allies in battle, and they can even control enemy soldiers to do their bidding.

Apprentices - Neophytes who have been taken under the wing of a Sith Knight-Lord, and are on their way to becoming full fledged Knights.

Neophytes - The lowest of the low, purely unblooded and untrained Dark Force users. These droogs tend to be used as cannon fodder by stronger Sith, but those that survive this grueling existence tend to attract the attention of Knight-Lords who take them on as apprentices.

Naw, we have a NFU military.

It's very similar to the standard Imperial military we're all used to, so I didn't think it prudent to list out all the ranks and stuff.

Also the Hoplite bit was for [member="Zef Halo"]'s benefit c:

A fun fact for those wondering, since you asked about the military!

THE KNIGHTS OF THE SITH AND THE IMPERIAL MILITARY ARE SEPARATE ENTITIES

THEIR COMMAND STRUCTURES DO NOT MINGLE, AND ONE CANNOT COMMAND THE OTHER

THINK OF THEIR RELATIONSHIP AS BEING SIMILAR TO THAT BETWEEN THE IMPERIAL MILITARY OF THE GE AND THE STORMTROOPER CORPS

THE KNIGHTS OF THE SITH ARE THE BLADE'S EDGE, THE FIRST THROUGH THE BREACH

THEY ARE NOT SPECIFICALLY PART OF THE MILITARY STRUCTURE, BUT FREQUENTLY WORK ALONGSIDE IT

Could a Knight of the Sith receive or be rewarded with a military position within the Imperial Military? I've personally seen that there are force users who enjoy taking part in the military tactics aspects of skirmishes, invasions, dominions, and most forms of PvP or PvE? Is it something that we force users could be given if interested?

  1. It's one part that using "Sith Empire" or "Panathan/Pacanth Empire" didn't really fit with me especially because the former has been used a whole bunch before both on Chaos and in Canon, and another part because of this since I'm a super Warcraft nerd so you know.
  2. Because red is the color of blood and that's super spooky. Another reason could be that red on heraldry symbolizes martial might, willingness to serve one's country, and conveys that this person/house is very warrior-like. That fits in with the society that the Black Empire is molded around, that being the Epicanthix society who are very warlike. And the black because Sith wear black hoods? Idk, I like the symbol and I frequently use it as a thread header.

Sin

"the force is a tool, it is my weapon."
does that make you the emperor [member="Darth Carnifex"], cause glory to the emperor if it is the case, let's start purging heretics (and using the military like cannon-fodder)
