Private The Belly of the Beast [Jackal]

They detected her even before she exited hyperspace.

Cresting the eclipse of a dying star was a vast array of starships, sharp and angular. The largest among them were like stiletto daggers, elongated shapes that tapered off to a razor-sharp point. Their superstructures bristled with turbolasers, ions cannons, and banks upon banks of missile silos. None of them paid the small ship any mind, it were the agile cutters and nimble starfighters that flanked the craft as it approached; they were far more dangerous to the small vessel than any other. The rumble of their ion engines, each burning bright purple in the blackness of endless space, could be felt as they flew side-by-side.

But it was what lay ahead that was truly marvelous. A giant space station, larger than any in recent memory, loomed large against a field of broken worlds and twirling comets. From a distance it appeared a smooth orb, but that was an illusion. The surface of the station was studded with geometric rises and valleys, cannon emplacements and launch bays. At the center was a massive opening, a gulf that sunk deep into the station. Within was contained thousands upon thousands of assembly bays and drydocks, mechanical arms endlessly assembling a vast armada that was beyond reckoning. Vessels larger than the ones that she had passed lurked within the darkness of that abyss, true leviathans.

But it was a smaller outcropping that she was directed to, a squat structure that jutted out several hundreds of meters from the station's surface. Her escorts peeled off as a tractor beam grabbed her ship and guided it to a landing, a cadre of
soldiers shrouded in gleaming red awaiting her arrival. At their head was a monster of shimmering silver, a beast three meters tall crowned with a pair of scintillating horns that gleamed impossibly bright. His eyes were studded opals, burning like the fires of a blazing forge. A tail ending in a sharp spear-like blade swished impatiently behind him.

When the one known as Jackal the Sangnir exited her ship, the hulking beast approached on long
digitigrade limbs ending in clawed digits. When he spoke to her, it was with a melodic voice like the twinkling of gemstones and the crackling of firewood. "The Lord-Master expects you. In His infinite wisdom, He has sent me to escort you to His audience chamber." The beast, whom she would eventually come to know was called Darth Shara, turned and began to walk towards a far door leading to a large lift. The lift would take them down into the station, dozens levels passing them by every second as the lift descended. The inside of the station was not dissimilar from many similar installations fancied by Imperials and Sith, with gray metallic walls and white phosphorescent panels illuminating each corridor.

They journeyed in silence, neither Shara nor the soldiers offering anything resembling pleasant conversation. After the lift came to a stop, they all moved into another corridor identical to the one before. Shara seemed to intrinsically navigate the endless maze of corridors, constantly moving forward as his tail swished behind him. He'd only come to a stop when they reached an ominous looking set of doors, the threshold made of black metal in contrast to the gray walls and floor of the hallway. Shara turned towards Jackal and gestured to the door, which slid open as he did so.

"
The Master awaits."

Inside, the chamber was dark as though shrouded in a dense fog. A single light shone down from the center, illuminating part of a mosaic built into the floor itself. The section it revealed greatly resembled a known
symbol of the Sith Order at the center of a lidless eye. The rest was hidden by the unnatural shadows that clung to the margins of the room. The door shut behind her as she entered, leaving her seemingly alone in the gloom of the chamber. It was only when a voice spoke to her from the darkness that the shadows seemed to recede, revealing the presence of the very man she was coming to see.

Darth Carnifex, Dark Lord of the Sith, stood at the other side of the room draped in the majesty of the Dark Side.

"
Welcome, Jackal the Sangnir, I've been anticipating your arrival."

The ship had exited hyperspace, it looked to be some sort of cargo ship that had been crudely spray painted. Seeing that they had systems that instantly grabbed her ship, Jackal kicks back in her chair, messing with stuff on her data pad since there was time to waste.

As the old ship was sat gently within the hangar, her eyes widen a bit as she was mid walking down the ramp. It wasn't a comfortable feeling seeing so many heavily armed guards standing there, but at least the tall one spoke up.

"Ah, greetings. My thanks for the escort then, chances are I would get lost here anyway."

She found the silvery demon's voice to sound pleasing to her ears, like some mystical ent creature from a fairytale. Jackal gives him a simple nod, going back to messing with her data pad as she and the rest of them walked down the metal halls.

The general feel of the place didn't bother Jackal much, place could use some skulls though..

"Hm? Oh we are here already? I hardly even noticed that time had gone by, thank you again for the escort."

With a simple click, she turns the pad off and enters the room as gestured to. Head turning a bit as the door shut behind her, within the darkness of the room she could make out a figure within the deep mists, yet it was vague even to her keen eyes. As her future employer speaks, Jackal perks up a bit. Giving the dark lord a proper bow... About time she learned how to do it right..

"Greetings, Lord Carnifex. And please, you may just call me Jackal."

She adjusts her corset before placing both hands behind her back in order to look more professional considering who she was speaking with.

"After your incentive to visit here, I must admit that I am rather eager to hear what job or jobs you have in mind."

A sly, devilish grin creeps up her face.

The Dark Lord glided over to her like a phantom, His piercing red-in-black eyes staring down at the smaller Sangnir. In this place, the epicenter of His power in the galaxy, Carnifex appeared almost ethereal; otherworldly. What Jackal had experienced from speaking with the Dark Lord over hologram was insignificant next to standing before Him in person. It was like a flea standing next to a mountain, the sheer presence of the Dark Lord near enough to shatter the will of most mortal beings. Even then, one could sense that the Dark Lord, in all of His nightmarish triumph, was withholding much of His horrific strength in reserve.

"Then, Jackal, I welcome you to my world of worlds." All the shadows had fled from the chamber, leaving only Jackal and the Dark Lord standing along amidst a wide room wherein the floor was one giant mosaic. Now that she could see more of it, she would see a vivid chiseled tapestry presenting the entire history of the Sith. Starting with their exile from the Jedi Order, to the discovery of Korriban and its red-skinned inhabitants, to the various wars waged against the Jedi and their Republic, the Dark Lords who ruled over the Sith during these periods, culminating in the current age of strife.

Many modern Sith of legend were engraved into the floor, such as Darth Moridin, Darth Voracitos, Darth Empyrean Darth Empyrean , Darth Ophidia Darth Ophidia , Darth Solipsis Darth Solipsis , and Darth Mori. Carnifex most of all took precedent, which was not surprising considering where Jackal found herself. Nonetheless, there were many others immortalized alongside Him.

"That which I will expect of you to achieve will vary on circumstance. You will only know of what your assignment is the moment you are informed of it, but know that it will always pay generously."

A world of worlds, the comment didn't make much sense to the Sangir at first... Until she remembered what the outside of this place looked like, awe inspiring indeed. Her own ambitions and greed made her wonder if such a thing would ever be her own... Such a place demands respect, and respect was something she aspired to have.

"It is indeed a world of worlds, a powerful throne."

Her eyes take in the sight of the engravings, a new little flicker forms within the deepest section of her warped mind... Perhaps she didn't need to be the best bounty hunter? But alas, everything needed time. Thankfully, time was not something she had little of.

As his voice spoke up again, her daydreaming was broken. It was easy to tell that her mind had been elsewhere, now returning to reality.

"Oh I am sure the job will always pay well, should I be expecting more aurodium? Or, is this more in store for me? My payment doesn't always need to be in raw valuables or credits, I would be more than willing to inspect any weapons or armors you have... Ships as well? Maybe even gadgets to help me capture the prey?"

They pause for a moment, extending their black claws as to inspect them.

"I once didn't understand you broody types very well, considering my upbringing I had always placed a high value on shiny trinkets and treasures. Never made sense to me as to why a Sith doesn't value credits like a normal person.. Then recently it struck me, it is because you all have a whole other form of currency, that being power."

It was easy to see what Jackal was hinting at, yet she did not contain the ability to use the force.

"But alas, I do suppose I must stick with lovely weapons and shiny trinkets. Might I see what all you have to offer? Unless you are rather dead set on a specific payment for these future jobs that is."

She may have been a underdog, but she made no efforts to hide that she was eager scratch and claw her way to whatever was considered the top.

"Not just power," explained the Dark Lord, "But knowledge, information, as well. Such things are the lifeblood of the galaxy, around which everything in the galaxy revolves. Those in possession of power and knowledge control the galaxy and the people within it. You might have heard the weak proclaim, 'Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.' This is a lie, a fabrication to cast about the illusion that power can only be held if it is divided into as many hands as possible. Power attracts pathological personalities, it is a magnet to the corruptible, but it does not corrupt by itself."

The fascistic wisdom of the Dark Lord was spoken with velvety words, practically whispered into Jackal's ear as the titanic Sith loomed large above her. He could easily sense that He'd touched something within Jackal that prioritized her compulsive coveting of objects with worldly value. The bar of aurodium He'd offered up as bait was just enough to entice the Sangnir to come all the way here without a second thought, and now that He had her on His hook it was time to reel her in.

"Have no fear, my friend." Carnifex smiled, but it was not natural; it was the false smile of a murderer. "Within my possession is uncountable wealth, wealth that I am generous to share. If not aurodium, then perhaps Haysian smelt? Beskar, Cortosis, Platinum, even Chromium? All I can give to thee. If metals do not slake your hunger, then perhaps precious gems?" There was a twinkle in the Dark Lord's eye as He swiped one hand over the other, revealing a fistful of gemstones of every imaginable color resting pristinely in the palm of His hand.

"But yes, you must be well-equipped. The ship you ventured here on is inadequate, I can provide you with far better transportation. Your armor and weapons can be improved as well, for my armories are vast and open to thee. Say the word and I will show you all that can be yours."

But knowledge, information, as well.

"I would make the argument that all these things are power, and yes I have heard such things. In my opinion it is all a excuses the weak make, content on being a simple sheep. Anyone with half a brain knows how cruel this galaxy is and why they should take as much as they can get. I was never content, and so now I am here."

What was spoken was her honest opinion on the matter, such was easy to see by the Sangir's tone. They would have made for a fine... If not rather pompous Sith. As to where her ambitions ended was unclear, for now she greedily eyes the gems within his palm.

"Beskar? The strongest iron... Mm.. As tempting as that offer is I do know Mandalorians get rather feisty if you own such a metal. The thought of owning a weapon made of such a metal sounds lovely though, but for now I wouldn't mind to see what little toys you have."

His smile unnerved her a bit, it gave off the same feeling as her own.. A false smile that hid foul intent.

"Wha- Inadequate? It- Ok well maybe it is stolen and half of the systems are broken thanks to bad wires... What ship did you have in mind then? I need something of the same size in order to fit a carbonite storage and also an armory, as for tools.."

Jackal shows the whipcord launcher that adorned her right wrist.

"Any upgrades to this? Or perhaps other tools to go along with it?"

"Of course, such equipment will be of no effort to replace."

For someone that had been spoken so highly of as Jackal, it was evident to the Dark Lord that she was woefully underfinanced. The ship she arrived in, and the gear she currently possessed, were far below the standards enjoyed by those in His employ. That would have to change, and have to change quickly. Fortunately for Jackal, the Dark Lord had just the items in His armory that she was looking for. He also had a new vessel in mind, though it would have to be built completely from scratch.

"
Take hold of my hand, Jackal, and I will take you to my armory." The Dark Lord extended His hand, one that would effortlessly engulf the Sangnir's own when placed upon it. Immediately, the room began to shift as colors bled from their surroundings like melting clay, only to be replaced by completely new surroundings. The experience for Jackal would be quite disorienting, if not outright nauseating, but the Dark Lord showed little concern for her once the effort was concluded.

Around them were weapons, armor, and gadgets of all makes and models. It was a massive armory, made of shiny light gray steel and fully lit from almost every conceivable angle. Blasters, vibroswords, rocket launchers, and racks upon racks of inert explosives. "
Look around and mark that which you desire, and it shall be yours. As for your new transportation, I have already informed my engineers to begin its construction. It will be done within a short time."

Some could say she was indeed under financed, seeing as her main gun was made by her very own hands. Looks can be deceiving though, and her blaster was no exception. It was built for function over form, not very pleasing to the eye, but it had enough kick to gun down even a heavily armored target.

Her humble origins made it more interesting how she got attention, no?

Jackal raises a brow, placing her clawed, pale hand onto his. Simply expecting the both of them to walk to the armory, like how she was escorted before to his chambers. Though he shows off his ability in the force by warping the both of them to the armory, her balance is thrown off, never having this type of feeling before... Her gut doesn't feel well, and the Sangir stumbles a bit in a daze, gripping instinctively onto his hand to keep herself upright.

"Ugghh.. uhhh..."

Experiencing even the simplest demonstrations of the force fascinated the pale woman, making that spark grow brighter.

"Hu-Huh? Wait, I have free reign over all this? Ooooo~"

Recovering from her nausea by now, Jackal rushes over to the walls of weapons and gear, more excited than a fat kid in a candy shop. Her eyes instantly spot some goodies, taking a vibrosword and testing it out. As it turns on, the blade reflects in her scarlet eyes. Being one to know good quality materials, she knew what this blade had cortosis within it. Powering the blade off she sets it down on a table, next finding two carbines she liked the look of and setting them down on that same table with the blade.

"Wait, you are already building a ship for me..? Like, right this moment?"

While biting the hand that feeds may be wrong, Jackal also remembers an old saying. "If it is too good to be true, then it probably is.", she also knew that nothing was free. So, they stop their little rummage through the armory to give the dark lord a questioning glare now that their little greed rush had calmed down.

"What's the price for all this? Vast riches aside, nothing is free... And you already got me hooked, so might as well reel me in, no? What is it you want?"

Jackal seems to have wisened up, even if it was too late by now. They cross their arms, their previous set of words confirming they knew that had been hooked on it.

L8J730U0JCXkRN2jDY_vm8aRCZWFxKVBzpvaB3hcf7tuC2oIvaAzl9gKEN2ZTpzNRrTF-NYJcX_2OvE_34Fa1I6Q55kDnTo1plD9rt5qk0Ujv5pDIgrBDTx90eJNWJ2duFiMWpnoL9uKe2rGq-Ii_WaMk4GSb7KVrnJRz7knrfiA1lzBdLH5rwEDCbBcaw

He watched Jackal move around the armory, going from rack to rack, choosing the best pieces of equipment that caught her eye. He did this in total silence, not even His movements giving off any noise as He effortlessly glided behind Jackal just outside of her peripheral vision. He'd dazzled her with the magnanimity of His offer, her senses overloaded with the sheer scope of what He'd brought forth. But now that was beginning to wear off as her rational senses returned, and she rightfully inquired of Him what the cost was for all of this reward.

"It is simple," He replied, "I want your unwavering loyalty, Jackal. These gifts will remind you that all that you desire can be given by my hand. Let that thought anchor your mind when you travel the galaxy, buoyed by your new ship, your new weapons, your new armor. Those that seek your skill can offer you credits and other tantalizing trinkets, but only I can give you what you truly want."

He raised a finger before Jackal could speak, "Ah, but you must be thinking. 'But is it not you, Carnifex, that has done the same? You have brought me to Malsheem, ensorcelled me with such sights never before seen, and made a game of tantalizing trinkets?' You would be only half correct, for such baubles are not all that I have to offer. Like I said, I am the only one who can offer you what you truly want. Perhaps again you believe that these trinkets are all you truly desire, to amass wealth, but I see through you. I saw it the moment you entered my domain."

With a snap of His fingers, a small blue flame crackled into existence in the air between them. It was not like any natural flame, for it gave off no heat and instead seemed to dray in heat from around it. "The Dark Side," the word was spoken so reverently, almost sensually like the name of a lover. He then grasped the flame and let it dance in His hands, the flame moving unnaturally as though it had a will of its own. Then He closed His fist and the flame was snuffed out.

"Serve me well, Jackal, and I may show you a glimpse of the Dark Side."

A brow is raised, and she started to have more questions than answers.

"Loyalty.. Well I happen to be loyal enough to those who pay well, and also to those I remember paying well.. I am a bit of a free spirit kind of person, I am sure a person such as yourself can understand. The pawn is always sacrificed to protect the king after all, I don't know if-"

He cuts her off, claiming that he knows what she truly wants and desires... As much as these vast riches were indeed tempting, her senses had returned. Did he really know what she wanted?
The Dark Side

There it was again, the blue flames she had seen while fighting those demons and cultists.. It was beautiful.. He did know, but how would she even get this glimpse if she had no ability to even use it?

So with a glance to the side, then back to the large tyrant. Jackal huffs a bit, unsure what to say for a time.

"A rather delectable poison you offer there, but how am I even supposed to use it?"

Seeing as her dangerous ambitions had been detected anyway, she continues on.

"The dark has kept my interest time and time again, the complexities of alchemy... The stench of necromancy.. I crave it all of course."

Seems Jackal already knew about Sith alchemy.

"I met an interesting fellow, they call him a world eater... I would love to craft such beings with my very hands, or eat far more than someone's flesh and blood... If you get what I mean."

For a being that couldn't use the force, Jackal had been reading up on the dark side a bit it seemed, force vampirism was also a thing that called to her... The thought of eating another's power, it sounded so heavenly.

"While I am sure you could teach many great things, surely you respect a soul who prefers having dominion over other beings rather than serving? But as I said, I have no intent for foul play since I know you pay well."

Jackal crosses her arms again.

"Though now that I think about it, why do you show interest in offering me such things?"

L8J730U0JCXkRN2jDY_vm8aRCZWFxKVBzpvaB3hcf7tuC2oIvaAzl9gKEN2ZTpzNRrTF-NYJcX_2OvE_34Fa1I6Q55kDnTo1plD9rt5qk0Ujv5pDIgrBDTx90eJNWJ2duFiMWpnoL9uKe2rGq-Ii_WaMk4GSb7KVrnJRz7knrfiA1lzBdLH5rwEDCbBcaw

"Consider in me a power that can see through others, young Jackal. To see through your desires, your fears, your hopes, and all that drives and motivates you. I know that you yearn for something greater than what you already possess, to know a power that can elevate you beyond your lesser station. It is a yearning that all who touch the Dark Side feel, a fixation that can never be cured. Know that I will not lie to you and tell you it is only a gift and not a curse, for the Dark Side is both of those things and so much more. Addiction, liberation, slavery, independence. All are true of the Dark Side."

Even though the Dark Lord was standing in front of Jackal, she would feel a peculiar pressure on both of her shoulders as though someone were placing their hands upon her. Hot breath cascaded down her neck, a cool chill tantalizing her spine. A looming presence, much like the one she felt from the Dark Lord, was weighing down on her from behind; a shadow with glimmering eyes smoldering with nefarious mirth.

"You will find many others that will tell you different things, and those that will tell you the same as I have. All will seek to give you something, some may be forthwith and others may obfuscate. All will want something of you in return. What I desire is your talents, your labor, to carry out what I want accomplished. Your temperament towards domination or submission is not necessary, for whether you hold dominion over others or are merely content to serve you will still be bound to my employ."

The pressure on Jackal's shoulders receded, the faintest echo of laughter ringing in her ears. A shadow moved along the wall, vaguely feminine, before disappearing from view completely. Carnifex appeared not to notice, although seemingly by choice rather than obliviousness. There was more at play with that shadow than there was being presented, but she would find few answers from the Dark Lord.

"The reason I offer you these things is because I know you crave them, and in return you will do what I ask of you. The further you are willing to go and the more you are willing to do, the greater rewards will I bestow upon you. It is that simple, young Jackal."

The sudden pressure causes her blackened claws to extend just by reaction alone, a scarlet eye glances back, met with two gimmering eyes that seemed to smolder. Her expression being one of little amusement as their breath pressed against her pale skin, Jackal still had a long way to go before she could fully grasp such things.. But for now, the shade served as yet another thing that fueled that inner spark.

"See through others you say, does that also mean you can tell when someone lies? A handy tool if so, could have used that many times in my life by now."

Jackal thinks more on what else the towering dark lord has to say, it did give her plenty to ponder on for sure.

"How can one say it is a curse? The dark is a tool, just like my guns or claws... The craving of power is something normal, those who already sit upon the apex should always look for more... Those who are content are rather weak, it is healthy to control desire and shape it into power is it not? With power you can defend what you care about and hold dear, feelings of content breed idleness."

If the dark lord really could see through people, he could see plain as day that Jackal was serious about this, her philosophy being the dogma of nature. The apex, or the strong.. Always rule over the weak, and there is nothing wrong with wanting more.

"Considering you have already piqued my interest with that block and all the rest of this, consider my services hired. I do indeed crave such a powerful tool, it is no secret by now that I wish to sit upon the highest of thrones, perhaps those even equal to your own? Normally such ambition would serve as a red flag, a problem that you would normally remove before it became a cancer... But, I at least hold some level of wisdom, and my wisdom tells me that I will want to keep ties with you."

Again, all true.

"Now, do explain what you mean by "how far I am willing to go", I don't really care what the job is.. A job is just a job in my eyes."

"Of course," replied the Dark Lord, "All intentions are readily known to me, even that of those that do not speak the truth."

Had He the capacity to, He would've laughed and shook His head. Instead, He stared blankly down at the smaller Sangnir. "You know so little, Jackal. The Dark Side is more than a tool, much more. It is a living thing, but not in how we perceive life. It permeates every avenue of reality, inseparable from all that we know, as does the entire Force itself. You cannot wield it like a blaster or a sword, a true practitioner communes with the Dark Side to call upon its power. One who has become indistinguishable from the Dark Side can call upon it as easy as one breaths, the power coming automatically and instantaneously."

It would perhaps come to Jackal that the Dark Lord was referring to Himself in this instance, someone who's mastery over the Dark Side was so encompassing and complete that He wielded it effortlessly. Undoubtedly there were others like Him, those that have fully submerged themselves in the darkness, but few could boast such an impressive record as He. Twice Emperor, the Lord of Domination, and Master of Unnamable Shadows.

"In time, you will come to understand more of the Dark Side, and that knowledge will either buoy out amidst the tempest or drag you beneath the waves. Beware unfettered ambition as well, child, for it can be as deadly as poison. The ranks of those who embrace the Dark Side and are undone by their own heedless hunger are innumerable, their forgotten names so plentiful to inscribe upon the face of uncountable worlds."

This time, He physically placed a hand on Jackal's shoulder. "I will come to ask much of you, Jackal, and you must be ready to do whatever I ask. If that is acceptable, then come, I will show you your new ship."

Her understanding was like that of a child trying to mimic their parent, and in truth that really was how she processed it all. Only a touch of the surface, seeing and reading is different from actually doing. As he went on, it all made sense... And as his large hand was placed on her pale shoulder, she jumps a bit.

"It's never fun to admit to being wrong, but in this case I see how far behind I am.. I thank you for your wisdom, I didn't know it was alive.. How odd."

Jackal turns her attention back to him as he spoke a bit more.

"Of course it is acceptable, what kind of mercenary would I be if I wasn't ready for a job, no?"

They chuckle a bit, perhaps misunderstanding what the dark lord was speaking of.

"Wait, the ship is done already..?"

"Good, very good."

He raised a hand, and the world around them shifted once more. This time, they found themselves in a cavernous bay, one filled with all sorts of mechanical instruments, shuttered apertures, and multi-limbed manipulators. Sitting in the center of the bay was a lone ship, the last armored plating being fitted into place by an arm that descended from the ceiling. Brief flashes of welding sparks illuminated the ship before they died away.

What remained was a freshly crafted
starship, one built from scratch and assembled entirely by automated systems. Carnifex led Jackal to the ship and stopped a few meters away from it. "As promised, a new vessel to transports you across the stars. It was made for you, its interior is entirely modular, as are its weapon systems. You will find that it is equipped with everything an enterprising hunter will need."

Jackal would find the interior fully furbished, a sizable living space, an adequate sleeping arrangement, and enough space for her to decide what and where she'd want her own things. She would also find that all of the items she'd selected in the armory had journeyed with them and were placed just outside of the ship's boarding ramp.

"Quite suitable, yes?"

She had been more prepared for the second teleport this time, only suffering mild nausea that was negligible. Eyes focus in on the new ship just as the finial plate was adorned onto the vessel.. It already looked decently nice on the outside compared to what she was flying before.

"Full modularity? Oohohoho you spoil me, really. Now I can install systems without worrying about losing a finger, thank you for this of course."

Jackal takes the time to go inspect the ship, taking her first step into it to check out what all was already put into it.. To her surprise it was very cozy, fair living quarters, plenty of space to move around.. Small medbay to rest in the bacta tank, carbonite storage for prisoners.

"Considering my line of work, do you have any seismic charges I could use? If I am to be chased I would like a way to swat them away."

The inner mechanic in her was already having a blast just looking over all the fresh parts, soon she would for sure need to work on this ship- her new ship.. And this one she didn't need to steal!

"More than suitable, does it happen to have stealth systems by the way?"

Just from her tone alone it was easy to assume she was a bit excited, not just for the ship, but also the new toys.

"All that you desire and more, you will not be found wanting."

Through the power of Malsheem, the Dark Lord held a power like few other in the galaxy. The massive spheroid was inundated with advanced automated manufactories, helmed by an exceptionally gifted artificial intelligence known as AQUILA. Within AQUILA's innumerable rows of databanks and infovaults lied the secret of the Dark Lord's recent success, an unfathomable trove of schematics, research documents, archival records, and countless other tidbits of information that combined to create the most comprehensive library of engineering knowledge in the known galaxy.

With only one/one-hundredth of this knowledge could an entire starfleet be assembled, and the Dark Lord had taken great advantage of the power He held in the palm of His hand. With Malsheem, He was the chief supplier of the resurgent Sith Order's nascent military. He made Himself indispensable to their rearmament, ensured that they needed Him to pick themselves back up and steady themselves on their own two feet. Without Him, what has currently taken the better part of a decade would have taken more than a century to accomplish.

And they knew it, they loathed Him for it. He could sense it through the Force, they plotted to scuttle out from beneath Malsheem's shadow. Ever was He watchful of His adversaries in the Order, for Darth Ophidia's treachery made Him far more weary than He had been before. She'd tested the limits of His preservation protocols, and she'd held in her hand the power to destroy all that He had been. In her own desire to see the Sith Order continue, she'd not taken that final step.

Perhaps to her future detriment.

Never again would He allowed such a thing to occur, He'd made sure of that.

"Stealth systems would be a rudimentary addition, young Jackal. Your new ship was designed to be compatible with any component of your choosing."

Her pale hand feels against the fresh durasteel, a new ship was a treasure like none other... And with his confirmation that she could ask for many things, she gives a silent nod.

"I see.. Well I will take the best you have then! I would much prefer to stalk my prey rather than risk the headon attack.. Can't say I am good at dogfights myself, only good at fixing up the ship and getting away if I must be honest."

She leans down, inspecting the back section rather keenly. Plenty of space for seismic charges to be shot out, and the back plates seemed to be thick enough to take hits.

"Back plate seems thick enough, the bay to pop out charges should be fine... Only getting rid of some of the armor, hmm do you happen to have systems that I could install into my new ship that help it avoid scanners?"

Now she takes a squat at the front of the vessel, running a clawed finger across one of the dual gun barrels.

"Say.. If I ever do require new parts and or seek to add new systems to this ship, I can always request them correct?"

Jackal gives him a wink before leaning against the new ship.

"Thinking on it, is there anything else in store for me? Anymore little treats?"

Darth Carnifex watched as the petite Sangnir inspect the ship, asking several questions as she did so.

"A unique encryption code was installed in your ship's navi-system, which can be used to return to Malsheem. It will allow you to request upgrades or replacements." Very few were afforded such privileges by the Dark Lord, mostly given to others who served a similar function as Jackal. The Dark Lord had in His employee over a dozen hunters, all of different temperaments and from different worlds. Of those, only a small number knew that there were more like them, but they had only come by this knowledge from many years of dedicated service.

He took a few steps forward, coming very close to the Sangnir. "Ravenous, are we? I do indeed have many things awaiting you, young Jackal, but they will not be given to you at this moment. You must prove your service first." He made a flourish with His hand, and a small holo-projector appeared between His fingers. He thumbed the activator and the device whirred to life, projecting a small holographic display of a wealthy-looking Human of middle-age and average build.

"This man is Edwaldi Orsber. A mid-level power broker for regional financial institutions in
the Slice. Years ago, he came to me for help in securing his rise to power over local politicians and bankers. I gave him all that he needed to secure his position, but when the time came due for him to repay me for my generosity he refused. He believed that the fall of the Sith Empire correlated the abolition of debts owed. He is mistaken. I want you to travel to Randon. The location of his high-rise will be logged into your ship's database, as well as codes to bypass and disable his security. You will enter his apartment and terminate Edwaldi Orsber and his wife."

It seemed like a simple hit job, but the Dark Lord had more. "Edwaldi Orsber has three children, two sons and a daughter. I want them secured for transport and brought back to me unspoiled. Do this for me and I will greatly increase your reward for completion. If the children cannot be secured, then terminate them as well. Destroy the high-rise when you leave."

Pale hands greedily clasp together, looks like she had a job after all... It was her favorite kind as well!

"Of course of course, consider them already dead."

As she slid her new sword into its sheath, her mind thought over the current streak of bad luck she had been receiving lately. If she failed this job.. Chances are that she would never receive any job from here ever again, and or become the newest target..

"I must also say that this may take some time.. I need to go see a fellow Sangir and ask them about some things I have been feeling, see if they can help me. But I can assure you this task will be done! Soon as I solve my lethargy.."

A worn sigh escapes her black lips as she loaded her new guns onto the ship, at least the armory in here was rather solid.

"Once I have the task done I will contact you and meet you here again with your prize, till we meet again, lord Carnifex."

She calls out as the ramp closes, thankfully all the things on her previous vessel had been packaged away.. Neatly for sure, but it all needed to be sorted out and organized on the new ship.

Jackal plops herself in her brand new pilot seat, the engines come online as the ship rises a bit, hovering before making a quick dash from out of the bay. Soon it vanishes into the endless wonders of hyperspace, one day it would be back..
