That other Galactic Alliance/republic?

Basically, GR is Old Republic/Prequel in essence and character. which is my least favorite era in all Star Wars history.

GA is more post-OT, so the two are pulling from different source eras in character and feel.

Either way, it still remains to be seen what the GA is actually going to BE. What they're going to do. What values they're really going to embody.

Just because a man of God claims to be a Priest doesn't mean he'll be a good boy, and so the direction and intention of this faction could change in an instant, especially when the ones who were expecting to have "power" or "influence" have nothing at all and instead wind up doing the same thing they always have. Following the ones standing tallest and speaking loudest.

In the end, though, I will say this. Big things are coming. Mark my words.

Alright,

No one is complaining or telling anyone what to do or not to do. This thread was me wondering about your faction from an OOC GR perspective. I think its fair to say that the GA has wind in its sails and the GR has not atm.

It worries me since I like the GR.
It is not meant as criticism against the GA.

That said, the GA is drawing on the same type of characters for their ranks as the GR and in that [member="Varus Shatterstar"] is right. Of course we will be OOC opposition for this. Just like we are with the Silvers. Thats howit works and its nothing wrong with it.

Its an open community and everyone are allowed to create whatever they want. The GR is about the major faction rules (a part of this community that I personally find very appealing to be part of) and with more attention turned to other factions it is more likely going to get harder for the GR in the galactic map game that makes chaos so interesting.
But that does not mean anyone is saying that the silvers or the GA is a bad idea.

Dont read this as criticism against the GA, it is rather a concern for the GR. I did post this in the republic forum to get the republic view on this. Otherwise I would have gone to the public forums.
And again, it was not meant as criticism against the GA, I only wanted to reassure myself of that the GR was not giving up its own intentions. Naturally it will be harder with such a strong competitor for activity as the GA so that was my concern.

On the side - While your input is appreciated I did not mean it to be a GA explanation thread. My bad, I did not realize all of you remained active in the GR forum on top of the GA forum and I see that it must be hard to keep yourselves from noticing the GA name popping up like that.

The existence of GA is a OOC problem for the GR, but its not a problem for any person (myself included) or the community as a whole. I think you are misunderstanding my original intent - Or not, but either way it is a difference in perspectives in this thread.

Best of luck and of course I wish you great stories and fun times ahead.
I hope to see this thread die now because I had no intentions of creating grudges.

People are welcome to do as they please all they like. Just like I'm allowed to have an opinion, and in my opinion it seems like a politically based play by a biased clique. That's what it appears, anyway, and I've certainly heard a lot of things and considered quite a few opinions, so don't think that this is half baked at all.

Also, while we're on the subject of people "doing their own thing", I'll exercise my right to have my own, personal opinion, thanks. ^_^

All good, bro. I just don't see why everyone is making a big deal about this. As I said in my first post, hope we can work together, just disappointing to see bitterness and hurt feelings.

Maybe nows a good time to bring this up. Ugh. Mantic. Everybody keeps an Alt in the GR and the OS forums. If only to view the OOC Discussion Ideas and see what's current and interesting. I try to keep an alt parked in as many Factions as possible just so I can keep an eye on any fascinating new story ideas that are popping up.

To note. I'm not a loyalist either. That means I don't have "favorite factions". I'm a writer of the boards, first and foremost. So I travel from one EPIC story right down to the next. This week that story might be helping the OS. Next week, I might be helping out the Cartels. It's all about where the fun stories are and meeting new people for me.

But again. It should probably be vocalized that Major Factions have very, very, public OOC Discussion Sub-Forums. Alt parking is a thing. (And, a good thing really) ...Any thread that goes up in a Major Factions Sub-Forums is essentially comment-bait for the whole website. Which is fine since we are all community members first and faction cheerleaders second.

Enjoy! :D

There's no hurt feelings or bitterness. Factions rise and fall all the time on this community. It's just a way of life, and one that I feel everyone in this thread understands. The climb dominance can be just as fun to write as the fall to destruction, and in my opinion, why it's equally fun to write victory and failure, though some people don't seem to really get that part and just want to win all the time.

Either way, I don't see where you're coming across all of this "bitterness and hurt feelings" or "butthurtness", lol.

Which, by the way, [member="Mantic Dorn"], is one of the reasons the Republic has, at the time of this posting, 680 members but probably fewer than 20 writers actively participating with the faction.

Though I hear that's a problem pretty much everywhere Cira and JSC park characters :p

In all honesty, this thread should turn from the differences between GR and GA and become what the GR plans to do about it's drop in activity. We have 4 dominions that have dwindled drastically with little hope of seeing them finish in the near future. The way that the Rhommamool/Osarion one has been going, it should honestly become a Mandalorian world, instead of one of ours. The OOC Republic forums have been more lacking in activity than the reception at a dry wedding. I know I'm not a high volume poster, but two or three people can't be responsible for the totality of the postings for an entire major faction.

We've all had some hefty disagreements recently that have left sour tastes in the mouths of many. I know it has negatively affected the way that I see the faction. I imagine that the views from the entire community are not so different.

On top of all of that, and with all due respect to our FAs, [member="Gir Quee"] just went on LOA (rightfully so, best of luck on your medical classes, mate!) and [member="Taeli Raaf"] has been equally busy with that consistently evil Darth RL. That leaves [member="Geneviève Lasedri"] to do the brunt of the Admin work. And if our member base is truly devoting its time elsewhere, where does that leave the rest of us?

So really I have one last question: is the Republic done?

After reading this thread, I'm sure as hell not chomping at the bit to work with you guys. You started off talking mad shit, the GA reps politely ignored that and explained what they were really about, and then you kept talking shit, while trying to come up with reasons why you weren't really talking shit, honest.

Seriously, all the GA would have to do is show potential recruits this thread and they'd never have to worry about losing folks to you guys.

It's the same thing in nearly every thread. This place is slightly less toxic than a polonium enema, but only by the slimmest of margins. How is someone like me, who's relatively new and looking for a faction to fall in with, supposed to look at this and say "Yup, I want to work with these guys"?

[member="Tyl Ro"]

I think you need to create another thread for that purpose.

@folks in general
I know this faction has allot of members that are not actively contributing to the faction and only want to keep an eye on things but that does not give you the right to hammer down on those few of us who are trying to do something.

[member="Eralam"] - bad taste... leave the faction if things for whatever reason upsets you. No one is forcing you to read un here. It is just poor manner to write what you just did.

Nah. This Faction will endure for as long as you guys want it too. Even if the Sith smash every planet and paint the map red in GR blood. Somebody will survive, take it minor, and build up the dream until it can fight again with gusto. This Faction will never die. Because you cannot kill the spirit of freedom by which it was founded.

Also. Your FAs can kick any member they want to, whenever they want to. When I was FO, I did it all the time. Now, did that deplete our numbers and take us off the "Popular Factions" page. Yep. Did it make moral look bad because membership "appeared" to be suddenly cut in half. Yep. But it also remind us that the good guys will always be the minority. That evil is always popular. That survival was never fair. ...And most of all. Did it not remind us that no matter how people we had, we could still defy the bad guys to our dying breaths. And win.

And win you can.

You see. I've fought my war. I help found this Faction, wrote it's descriptions, crafted it's Armories, hosted it's Invasions, was FA and FO, and fought Omni head-to-head with nothing but an NFU and a flotilla of volunteers. I know the power that just one man can make in this Map Game. And I know the strength that can come from uniting together in small numbers to make this game sing.

I don't care if Tef himself walks through that door and says: "Your done Republic. Wash up and clear out." ...Because I know that tomorrow there will be a new Republic, a new freedom, and a new rallying cry that say, "F U Sith." We will never surrender. And I know that all of you will be the people who join that cry and speak together with that one voice. Everybody in this thread is the blood and soul of tomorrow. No matter what.

Say what you want about old JSC. He's old and beyond caring. But I'll be damned if I don't remind all of you one thing before I every die.

I believe in you. :D
