I'm fine with wherever this goes. The Jedi Order splits off and does their own thing? Cool. The Republic goes minor? Cool. We get our crap together and make this thing happen in the here and now? Cool. My character is along for the ride because this is where she belongs.

But if we don't have the people to write for us, now, we aren't a faction. Just a shell with an old name. I would rather us be able to admit that and move to the next phase than keep on trying to push a broken wagon down a rocky road to nowhere.

I probably should have clarified my question a little bit better but, you know, we're on the internet and click-bait is a thing.

After reading this thread, I'm sure as hell not chomping at the bit to work with you guys. You started off talking mad poodoo, the GA reps politely ignored that and explained what they were really about, and then you kept talking poodoo, while trying to come up with reasons why you weren't really talking poodoo, honest.
Seriously, all the GA would have to do is show potential recruits this thread and they'd never have to worry about losing folks to you guys.
It's the same thing in nearly every thread. This place is slightly less toxic than a polonium enema, but only by the slimmest of margins. How is someone like me, who's relatively new and looking for a faction to fall in with, supposed to look at this and say "Yup, I want to work with these guys"?

As a matter of fact, a rather like a few of them, but I know what this is because I've seen this kind of thing happen before and more than once.

The fact that you are new, which you just admitted, tells me that you don't have any idea what is taking place. Like I said before, some things have to crumble to make room for the new. This may turn out being for the best, but please don't start pretending that everyone is slinging insults and slander because someone will read your half cocked post and come into this thread guns blazing and that doesn't need to happen.

I feel bad because my first thought was "the downfall of the Protectorate" and not something like "hmm, let's work on trying to fix the activity issue". Maybe I'm just worried. That would make sense, because I like the Republic.

But unlike the time I watched (and simply watched) the Protectorate slide out of it's glory days, I'm in a good spot right now. So, yeah, we need to talk about getting our activity up. Especially when we have another 'competitor'* in the mix.

We can't drive a faction with just a few people, true, but if a few of us get working hard, we can pull in new people again. Or at least motivate some of the old ones. For now we might want to try and work with the Galactic Alliance.

Right now they're quite active and we're on good enough terms with them. I say we do what [member="Varus Shatterstar"] is trying to do. We try to figure out what they're about IC, and see how we can work with them

While they might be 'taking some of the activity'** from us, they have plenty of their own. We can bounce off that. Joint-activities tend to help with activity while also bringing in attention to the factions involved.

In other words, I'm half asleep, but I think that, no matter how we feel about how the GA came to be (which varies per writer, as is the norm), we can work with them to try and push back the One Sith.

Or just have fun. Fun is cool too.

*Considering the similarities between the GR and the GA (even if some are only in the public eye), it makes sense that people will likely go to one or the other. Characters that would usually go to one might go to the other since the option is now there.
**Personally I think that a lot of times we see a new faction pop up and then assume that some (or most, depending on who you ask) of the activity issues we face are because of them. However, there are plenty of times where if the new faction (the GA in this case) didn't exist, those characters would just go to another faction, and not always go (or go back to) us/our faction (in this case the GR).

I've been informed that what I've witnessed this far is you being nice, so maybe this will help.

From the outside looking in, it looks a lot like a hate thread, and it was very offputting. Even and especially since they tried to clear it up, and you guys ignored them and kept ragging on them. You may not have realized just how dickish you sounded, but trust me on this one, it didn't do you any favors.

By turning the level of vitriol expressed back on you guys, I was hoping someone would get their dander up, because that leads to this: trashing an entire faction in a public forum makes you look bad, and it fucking sucks to be on the other end. You didn't take it too well when I did it to you guys, and that should give you an idea of how they feel on the matter.
