- Mahoroba is the stabilizing force that protects the moon against the tidal and gravitational stresses of Ilyros by creating a 'shield' around its surface, allowing life to flourish. Thus, any disruption to this balance would result in catastrophic environmental collapse and widespread loss of life.
- Those born on Ilyre, or visitors who remain for extended periods, benefit from prolonged lifespans and a strong resistance to disease under the influence of Mahoroba. However, prolonged exposure creates dependency on the Nexus as the body adapts, and once removed from it, individuals experience a shortened lifespan proportional to their time spent on the moon. To counter this, skilled artisans developed methods to cultivate and bond with special nexus-infused crystals found in the Amazriel Caverns. WEAKNESSES

Dark Side Required: The Red Compass cannot function without being fed dark-side energy. A wielder must actively draw upon fear, rage, hatred, obsession, desperation, or possessive attachment to awaken it.
Hostile to Jedi Use: Jedi and light-side Force-users cannot safely activate the compass. Using it requires emotions and power rooted in the dark side.
Not Exact: Even when paired with a holomap, the compass does not always provide perfect coordinates, guaranteed routes, or exact destinations. Depending on how attuned and fueled the kyber is, the compass may only create a general heading, probable route, or narrowed search zone.
Fixation-Based: The compass responds to the wielder's strongest fixation, not necessarily their stated goal. If the wielder's emotions are conflicted, the compass may point toward the wrong person, place, or object.
Corruptive Influence: Prolonged contact can intensify obsession, paranoia, possessiveness, emotional and mental instability, and dependence on the artifact's guidance.
Destructible: The Red Compass can be destroyed by shattering its corrupted kyber core or breaking its alchemized frame, though doing so may be a gamble. The full consequences of what could happen if it is destroyed is currently unknown, but is believed to potentially be capable of releasing a dark side shockwave of unknown magnitude.

DESCRIPTION

The Red Compass is an ancient Sith artifact that was recovered from a dark side temple by members of the Jakku Enclave. Following its discovery, the Jedi recognized the danger posed by the ancient artifact and secured it within their underground vaults. For decades, it remained locked away under strict containment, as the Jedi could not determine how to safely destroy the object without consequence.

Its exact origin remains uncertain, but surviving records attribute its creation to a Sith alchemist who believed the compass would lead them to whatever they needed to claim power over their rivals and ascend through the ranks of the Sith Empire. According to fragmentary accounts, the alchemist eventually succumbed to the artifact's influence, growing increasingly unstable as they poured more of their rage and fixation into the corrupted kyber core. They are believed to have gone mad and died after failing to understand the full nature and strength of what they'd created.

Physically, the compass resembles a small navigational instrument fashioned from black obsidian, yellowed bone, alchemized metal, and a blood-red shard of corrupted kyber suspended at its center. Sith runes are carved into the inner frame and along the rim of the casing, while its needle shifts according to forces no ordinary instrument can measure.

- The Red Compass cannot function without being fed dark-side energy. A wielder must actively draw upon fear, rage, hatred, obsession, desperation, or possessive attachment to awaken it.
Hostile to Jedi Use:
- Jedi and light-side Force-users cannot safely activate the compass. Using it requires emotions and power rooted in the dark side.
Not Exact:
- Even when paired with a holomap, the compass does not always provide perfect coordinates, guaranteed routes, or exact destinations. Depending on how attuned and fueled the kyber is, the compass may only create a general heading, probable route, or narrowed search zone.
Fixation Based:
- The compass responds to the wielder's strongest fixation, not necessarily their stated goal. If the wielder's emotions are conflicted, the compass may point toward the wrong person, place, or object.
Corruptive Influence:
- Prolonged contact can intensify obsession, paranoia, possessiveness, emotional and mental instability, and dependence on the artifact's guidance.
Destructible:
- The Red Compass can be destroyed by shattering its corrupted kyber core or breaking its alchemized frame, though doing so may be a gamble. The full consequences of what could happen if it is destroyed is currently unknown, but is believed to potentially be capable of releasing a dark side shockwave of unknown magnitude.

DESCRIPTION

The Red Compass is an ancient Sith artifact that was recovered from a dark side temple by members of the Jakku Enclave. Following its discovery, the Jedi recognized the danger posed by the ancient artifact and secured it within their underground vaults. For decades, it remained locked away under strict containment, as the Jedi could not determine how to safely destroy the object without consequence.

Its exact origin remains uncertain, but surviving records attribute its creation to a Sith alchemist who believed the compass would lead them to whatever they needed to claim power over their rivals and ascend through the ranks of the Sith Empire. According to fragmentary accounts, the alchemist eventually succumbed to the artifact's influence, growing increasingly unstable as they poured more of their rage and fixation into the corrupted kyber core. They are believed to have gone mad and died after failing to understand the full nature and strength of what they'd created.

Physically, the compass resembles a small navigational instrument fashioned from black obsidian, yellowed bone, alchemized metal, and a blood-red shard of corrupted kyber suspended at its center. Sith runes are carved into the inner frame and along the rim of the casing, while its needle shifts according to forces no ordinary instrument can measure.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Lhysira was the youngest daughter of a middling noble family from Hapes, one that possessed little in the way of true wealth or influence. During the brief civil war that erupted in the wake of Prince Astor Daaray 's death and that of his sister, the Queen, Lhysira's family was killed. Though they had long been known as staunch supporters of the Crown, the family was gunned down by the Hapan Guard after receiving a tip that they were harboring fugitives connected to the Crimson Veil, the group responsible for the Prince's murder.

Curiously, Lhysira was nowhere to be found at the time of the executions, and hasn't been seen on Hapes since.

Lhysira stands at five feet and seven inches, with thick, naturally curling blonde hair that appears almost white beneath fluorescent light. Her eyes are a reflective blue, marked by a concentrated ring of violet around the iris. Her nose is gently sloped and button-like, while her mouth is delicate, well-shaped, and often curved just slightly, as though amused by some secret that no one else is privy to.

Her skin is a warm white, and she keeps her fingernails neatly trimmed and manicured at all times, though she never wears colored polish, preferring only a clear coat. Her clothing tends toward the ostentatious but stylish, favoring dramatic silhouettes, rich fabrics, and shades of gold and purple.

Bold, enthusiastic, and defiant. These are only a few of the words one might use to describe Lhysira, who often seems to delight in her own arrogance, carrying herself with effortless superiority and a confidence that borders unapologetically on conceit.

Beneath that bright, cheerful façade, however, lies a far more tortured soul, with much of what she presents to the world being nothing more than a carefully crafted facade, a performance meant to disguise her impulsivity, her bouts of deep despair, and the self-destructive streak that drives her to test boundaries simply to see what might happen.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Kestrel’s earliest memories are of heat, cracked stone, and the hum of machinery. She grew up as a slave on Tatooine, owned by Tavid Yandar, who ran Lup’s General Store in Mos Espa. From her earliest memories, she was put to work, crawling into tight spaces to reach broken parts, running errands, and scrubbing floors, whatever a small kid could manage.

Tavid liked to joke that she was cheaper to run than a maintenance droid. Kestrel never laughed.

Twelve-hour days were normal, and rest was something other people got. It was a difficult life, but the only one she knew, and she expected to spend the rest of her years in that shop, doing whatever Tavid asked of her.

Around the age of ten, the Jedi Master Judah Lesan walked into the store and her life changed.

He could sense the Force in the girl scrubbing the floor, but when he tried to interact with Kestrel, she ignored him and kept working. Everyone always looked past her and she had no reason to believe he was actually paying attention to her, the little slave girl. But this time proved different.

She could always feel something of the customers’ boredom or Tavid’s greed. Sometimes there was pity, though it never did her much good. Judah felt guilty. She wasn’t sure why, only that seeing her on her circumstances seemed to trouble him.

When Judah learned Kestrel was a slave, he asked Tavid what it would cost to free her. Tavid named a steep price, arguing that she knew the shop and that replacing her would mean finding and training someone new. Judah paid it, and once the credits changed hands, he told Kestrel she was free and offered to take her with him and train her as a Jedi.

Kestrel waited for the catch, certain there had to be one, but only found the same guilt she’d felt before, and a patience that didn’t waver while he waited for her answer.

She said yes.

Left Arm Prosthetic
Kestrel's left arm is a full cybernetic replacement, salvaged out of various parts she found in a junk heap and rebuilt. Over time, Kestrel modified the cybernetic prosthetic to include hidden compartments for storing her lightsaber, reinforced the joints, and even included a compact wrist rocket tucked beneath the forearm. The sensory pads in the fingers have never functioned properly, leaving her without the subtle feedback others rely on, but she makes due.

Back Tattoos
Kestrel's back is covered in an intricate web of tattoos, designed to mask the scars left behind from her years as a slave. The design pulls from across her shoulders, down to the small of her back, and is inked in the design of various bits of star charts that she learned to read from various spacers that would pass through Mos Espa, with the symbol of the Jedi Order at its center.

General Appearance
Kestrel stands at 5'4" with a shapely, athletic build that's been honed through years of Jedi training and survival. Owing to the half of her lineage that is Zeltron, her skin is a dark pink with eyes of a light magenta tone that she boldly lines with thick black eyeliner. She keeps her dark hair short out of practicality, but always makes sure it is neatly done. She is not one who fusses over fashion, and typically sticks to whatever's most functional for what she's doing.

PERSONALITY

Tempered by Desert Sands
Life under the twin suns carved a deep resilience into Kestrel. Raised as a slave, she grew up with calloused hands and a quiet tongue, accustomed to hunger, exhaustion, and the sting of punishment for things beyond her control. Every day demanded strength: hauling parts in blistering heat, enduring the whims of her master. She survived by knowing when to speak and when to stay silent, when to stand her ground and when to slip through the cracks.

A Jedi Craves Not These Things…
But Kestrel does. Growing up with chains on her freedom and sand in her teeth, she missed out on so much of what the galaxy had to offer. The first time she saw green, real green, not just from holoimages, something settled in her chest and never left: longing. Every new world, every culture, every strange scent on a breeze is a chance to reclaim everything this life has to offer her.

Nothing Is Useless
Kestrel never had the luxury of ownership, only what she could scavenge or fix herself. As a child, she made tools out of trash and found use in what others discarded, a habit that's never left her. She's a tinkerer, a salvager of the forgotten, and nothing unsettles her more than wastefulness. Not because she's frugal, but because she knows the worth of things, because everything she's ever built, worn, or owned, once started as someone else's castoff.

How To Outlast
Life on Tatooine taught Kestrel to watch before she moved and listen before she spoke. She learned to outlast people who were bigger, crueler, and stronger than she was. She remembers every kindness shown her, because the moments were so few and they meant so much. She remembers the cruelty even better. All of it taught her the value to read a room before it turned, and how to be hyper aware of her surroundings. She’s scrappy in a fight and sharp. She can take a hit. But what she’s really good at is what comes after: getting back up.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Eleri is a former Jedi Knight of the New Jedi Order who later became an art broker and acquisitionist. Though her mentors believed she had a promising future among the Jedi, she left the Order following the death of Roana Iselen, her closest friend and longtime mission partner, during an investigation into a series of unprompted attacks on Jedi enclaves.

HISTORY

Early life and Jedi training

Orphaned by war as a young child, Eleri was taken into the New Jedi Order and raised within its temples. With few surviving connections to her life before the Order, she came to regard the Jedi as her family and devoted herself to their teachings.

Eleri distinguished herself through her discipline and academic ability. She spent much of her free time in the archives, maintained a demanding training schedule, and rarely required correction from her instructors. Her apparent composure contributed to expectations that she would eventually hold a position of leadership within the Order.

Much of her identity developed around those expectations and Eleri took considerable pride in being dependable.

Friendship with Roana Iselen

Eleri was raised alongside Roana Iselen, an initiate of a similar age whom she came to regard as a sister. Their friendship continued throughout their apprenticeships despite marked differences in temperament.

Roana was outgoing and impulsive, with an enthusiasm for life outside the temples that frequently brought her into conflict with more conservative Jedi. By the time of her knighthood, she was known for frequenting nightclubs and attending parties that lasted until morning. Some of her peers openly ridiculed her conduct, questioning whether she took her responsibilities seriously. Others considered her a poor influence on Eleri.

Roana’s mentors were more tolerant, regarding her behavior as a matter of immaturity rather than a lack of commitment. They encouraged the friendship in the belief that Eleri’s discipline would help moderate her excesses.

Eleri, however, valued qualities in Roana that their instructors sometimes overlooked. Roana could persuade her to leave unfinished work for an evening and was one of the few people around whom she felt comfortable being foolish or admitting a mistake. Although Eleri occasionally accompanied her on nights out, she generally remained the more reserved of the pair.

The two attained knighthood within months of one another and subsequently served together on numerous assignments.

The Enclave Attacks

Several years before the fall of the Galactic Alliance, the New Jedi Order lost contact with a number of its enclaves. Evidence of attacks at some locations prompted further investigations, and Eleri and Roana were dispatched to search one of the silent facilities.

After entering the enclave, they separated to cover different sections. During the search, Eleri felt Roana’s terror through the Force, followed by intense pain. Her friend’s presence disappeared before she could reach her.

Eleri discovered Roana’s mutilated body shortly afterward. Before she could recover the remains, she was attacked by the Sith responsible. Badly wounded in the ensuing confrontation, Eleri was forced to retreat. She retrieved Roana’s fallen lightsaber during her escape but left her body behind.

The circumstances of Roana’s death had lasting consequences for Eleri. She experienced part of the attack through the Force and then encountered its physical aftermath within moments. During her recovery, she repeatedly revisited the decision to separate, becoming convinced that remaining together might have prevented Roana’s death. Her escape became another source of guilt: she survived by abandoning the person she considered her closest family.

Departure from the Order

Eleri struggled to resume her former routines. Meditation frequently brought back the sensations of Roana’s final moments, and the quiet of the temple offered little relief from memories of the enclave. She began avoiding practices that once helped her manage fear and distress.

Her difficulty was compounded by the expectations she internalized during her training. Eleri understood the Order’s teachings concerning death and attachment, but she interpreted her inability to find peace as evidence that she was not the Jedi her instructors believed her to be. She concealed the extent of her distress and increasingly withdrew from those attempting to help her.

The Order’s investigation failed to locate the Sith and was closed within months. Although individual Jedi remained concerned for her welfare, much of the guidance she received emphasized accepting Roana’s death and releasing her attachment. Eleri came to associate that advice with an expectation that she would resume her duties while Roana’s killer remained at large.

She eventually departed without a formal farewell. She concealed her own lightsaber and retained the kyber crystal from Roana’s weapon.

Within a year, Eleri was a regular presence at exclusive parties and nightclubs. Former acquaintances encountered a woman who drank freely, flirted openly, and responded to serious questions with irreverent humor. Several of these habits once belonged to Roana, whose expressions and mannerisms increasingly appeared in Eleri’s own behavior.

Eleri enjoyed aspects of her new life, but its constant activity also helped her avoid prolonged solitude. Adopting Roana’s habits allowed her to preserve something of their relationship while distancing herself from the disciplined young Jedi who survived the enclave.

Fall of the Galactic Alliance

When the Galactic Alliance fell several years later, Eleri initially followed reports of the fighting closely. She recognized former classmates among the missing and dead, and learned that surviving Jedi were forced to abandon familiar temples or scatter into hiding.

As the losses mounted, she stopped reading casualty reports. Messages from former associates went unanswered, and she continued attending social engagements while the Order that raised her struggled to survive.

Eleri justified her inaction by insisting that she was no longer a Jedi and that returning would accomplish little. Nevertheless, she possessed money and connections that might have assisted individual survivors. Offering that help would have required renewed contact with people whose circumstances she found increasingly difficult to confront.

Her withdrawal spared her immediate involvement but became a further source of shame. She avoided asking what happened to particular acquaintances, sometimes preferring uncertainty to confirmation that they died while she remained elsewhere.

The Story Now

Eleri subsequently established herself as an art broker and acquisitionist in the service of a reclusive, exceptionally wealthy collector. Her work involved locating rare objects and authenticating their provenance before negotiating their purchase, occasionally through illicit channels. Her familiarity with wealthy social circles provided access to private collections and discreet auctions. Many acquaintances regarded her as a frivolous socialite spending a patron’s fortune, an impression she seldom corrected. Few know of her former Jedi affiliation or the extent of her education.

As the New Jedi Order attempted to regroup, former associates approached Eleri about returning. Others, now serving with the High Republic’s Jedi Order, offered her a place among them. She dismissed these invitations with jokes and avoided sustained discussion of her departure. The appearance of displaced Jedi relics on the black market eventually prompted a more direct response. Drawing on her professional contacts, Eleri began quietly acquiring objects taken from abandoned or plundered Jedi sites and arranging their anonymous return.

These efforts became her first sustained contribution to the Jedi since leaving the Order, though she continues to refuse reinstatement and conceales her involvement from most former friends.

APPEARANCE
Eleri cultivates the appearance of a glamorous socialite, favoring expensive clothes and a deliberately flamboyant style. Her naturally blonde hair falls long and loose, replacing the simple braid she wore during her time in the Order. She has emerald-green eyes and generally wears light makeup, with bold red lipstick providing a distinctive exception.

She favors designer gowns and high heels, often choosing shimmering fabrics or glittering embellishments. Bracelets are stacked along both wrists; those on her left arm conceal a lightsaber scar sustained during the attack that killed Roana. A pale crystal hangs from a fine chain around her neck, which she dismisses as costume jewelry when questioned.

Traces of her Jedi background remain evident beneath the carefully maintained image. Petite and hourglass-shaped, she retains the muscle definition of someone accustomed to rigorous physical training. She moves with a fighter’s balance and never willingly sits with her back to a door. Her reflexes occasionally betray her, allowing her to catch a falling glass before those nearby have registered it slipping. She typically laughs off these incidents, attributing them to luck.
