STANDARD FEATURES
ADVANCED SYSTEMS
STRENGTHS
  • Slave-Rigged — The Teutonic-class has a slave circuit system installed which has shaved a significant amount of the labor that would normally be required to operate this ship.
  • Point Defense — The Teutonic-class has been equipped with enough quad laser cannon turrets to discourage starfighter harassment.
  • Moderate Defense — The minesweeper has a layer of durasteel armor plating and rudimentary deflector shields to provide some protection to the hull of the ship.
  • EMP Resistance — The extensive use of Tridurium as an ingredient throughout the ship's interior paneling, alongside the faraday cage components, has insulated the ship's sensitive systems from most phenomena that might cause electrical disturbances including many forms of ion weaponry.
  • Heat-related Stealth — The Teutonic-class has been given a carbonite coating and thrust trace dampeners to provide the minesweeper with heat-related stealth to avoid the detection of heat-seeking laser mines.
  • Anti-Missiles — The Teutonic was equipped with a medium-ranged Missile Deactivation Transmitter which provides the minesweeper the ability to misdirect some incoming missiles within a ten-kilometer area around the ship.
  • Difficult to Trace — The Teutonic-class was equipped with a location scrambler that increases the difficulty of triangulating the location of this ship through its communication activity.
  • Versatile Projectors — The Teutonic-class has been equipped with state-of-the art Aura-class projector package, which includes four long-ranged projectors, each individually capable of emitting either a traction or pressor beam that can pull or push on astronomical objectives from naval mines to asteroids.
  • Gulfstream — The Teutonic-class was equipped with the gulfstream maneuvering system which uses gravitationally-enhanced gyroscopic stabilizers to increase maneuverability at the expense of speed.
Weaknesses
  • Slave Rigged — Because a significant portion of the Lateran-class has been automated it also has increased vulnerability to Slicing.
  • Exposed Rear — The aft of the Teutonic-class are unprotected, unlike it's sister lines, this ship does not have additional armor or point defense turrets to protect the engines of the ship from starfighter harassment.
  • Lightly Armed — The Teutonic-class lacks the heavy-hitting weapon emplacements to combat other capital ships.
  • Anti-Missiles, Signal Interference — The Missile Deactivation Transmitter can lose its effectiveness under certain environmental conditions. When the Teutonic-class enters a nebula or similar space phenomena, the surrounding radiation and matter can interfere with the transmitter's ability to detect and disable an incoming missile.
  • Versatile Projectors
    • Limited DurationThe gravitation field disruption element of the Aura-class projector package requires exhaustive amounts of energy which limits its use in brief bursts.
    • Poor Tracking — While the Aura-class projectors are well-suited for targeting relatively stationary astronomical objects like naval mines or asteroids, unlike conventional tractor systems, they're unable to accurately target smaller craft, even struggling to lock on moving capital ships.
  • Gravity Flux, Gulfstream — When the Gulfstream Maneuvering System is activated creates a signature that is can be easily detected from a great distances by standard sensor systems. Because of this, the Teutonic-class can only initiate this system during an emergency due to the dangerous nature of its work (i.e. sweeping naval mines).
DESCRIPTION

Following the success of the Templar-class Armored Gunship, the Federal Cooperative would commission MandalCo, their Hodasal branch, to create three new variants that would use the same hull design as the Templar-class, they wanted: an anti-interdictor, a minesweeper, and a carrier. These would become Project Lateran, Project Teutonic, and Project Sepulcher, respectively.

MandalCo would divide their staff into three teams. The team responsible for developing the minesweeper would become Project Teutonic. They were instructed to build a ship that could assist sectoral governments with removing regions of space that had been littered with naval mines. To this end they decided to design a ship with systems to prevent it from being detected by the disposable, rudimentary sensors that were frequently found in naval mines. They decided to remove many of the weapon systems, replacing them instead with the Aura-class projector package. A convenient all-in-one suite of projectors that could be used to relocate naval mines.

In order to engage in this work more safely, the Mandalorian craftsmen would equip the Teutonic-class with thrust trace dampeners, and provide the ship with a thin coat of carbonite, to prevent the ship from being detected by heat-seeking laser mines. In the worst case scenario though, they also provided the ship with gulfsteam maneuvering system to allow the ship to make some emergency maneuvers to evade taking a heavy hit.

When it came to what the build the ship hull from, the MandalCo team responsible for the Teutonic-class kept it simple. Because the ship had so many defensive systems, they decided to opt for an alusteel hull and durasteel armor plating, cheap and widely-available materials.

They built a prototype and put it through the ringer. The ship performed well enough for the Federal Cooperative's leadership, and gave the project the okay to move forward to production. The first generation of Teutonic-class Minesweepers would be launched in 790 ABY.

10-3-2020 - I've added the weakness "Anti-Missiles, Signal Interference.
