BIOGRAPHY:

Born into House Khal, a clan of the Hapan nobility, Ben was sent to the Jedi Order at a relatively late age, becoming a Padawan in his early teens. He was apprenticed to Master Oukranos Cthylla, a Pylantian Jedi with whom he had a complicated and often strained relationship. A deeply private individual, Ben didn't have much of a chance to make friends before problems on his homeworld sparked a chain of events with disastrous consequences.

The assassination of his cousin Shaya Khal and her betrothed, Prince Astor Daaray, at the hands of a rebel terrorist organization ignited long-simmering tensions in the Hapes Cluster. Though some still remember it as the Hapes Crisis, make no mistake; it was a civil war. The Jedi Order sought to remain neutral in the conflict, but when Ben discovered that his own master was working with the terrorists, he chose to act. He sided with the Consortium, a decision which regrettably led him to duel the Jedi Shadow Drystan Creed Drystan Creed , who defeated him in battle.

The civil war ended with the death of Queen Mother Kha'la Daaray and the ascension of her younger sister Nimaa'ri to the throne of Hapes. In the aftermath, Ben was brought before the Council to face the consequences of his actions. Rather than let them cast judgment, he decided to take the Barash and returned to his family on Hapes, where he spent the next two years.

Now sixteen, Ben has returned to the Order to resume his training. His time in exile seems to have humbled him, though that is not the only thing which has changed...

ORIGIN: Hapan Noble

HOMEWORLD: Hapes

SPECIES: Hapan

AGE: Adult

SEX: Male

HEIGHT: 5'10"

HAIR: Black

EYES: Blue

SKIN: Leathery

FORCE SENSITIVE: No

TRAITS
  • Racial Traits:
    • Physical Beauty
    • Night Blind
  • Combat Training:
    • Blasters
    • Vibroblades
    • Swords & Daggers
  • Personality:
    • Stern and taciturn leader of the anti-matriarchy movement against the Hapes Consortium, aka the Crimson Veil
    • Filled with vitriolic hatred toward the nobility, the Queen Mother, and the Hapan matriarchy as a whole
    • Considered a terrorist by some, a rebel to others

APPEARANCE:

A muscular and "aggressively handsome man of strong, chiseled features, graced with a long mane of dark hair".

BIOGRAPHY:

The long and storied history of the rebel general known simply as Kalen is full of enough intrigue to fill a novel. For the sake of brevity, his life has been summarized.

Born into the Hapan nobility, Kalen Khal was married at seventeen to a minor member of the royal family, Princess Aros Daaray. She was a sadistic and cruel woman who used her position of power to abuse Kalen for her own enjoyment. Because Kalen was a man, he could not fight back without severe consequences. He endured this treatment for two years, until one day the princess went too far, brandishing a knife at him. He managed to seize the weapon and turned it on her, stabbing her seventeen times according to court records.

For this crime, he was arrested and branded with the epithet of 'womanslayer'—a brutish beast, the lowest of the low. Condemned to die, he escaped before his execution could take place, riding the coattails of a prison break staged by a group of pirates. He joined their crew, becoming a marauder. After ten years in space, he grew dissatisfied with piracy. He realized he was surrounded by old men who had once dreamed of a better world. But they merely took comfort in the fantasy, while reality got worse. Those old men could've started a revolution a long time ago, but they didn't, and for their inaction the youth suffered—he had suffered. So Kalen made a vow that he wouldn't be like them. He would make sure that the next generation of Hapans would never have to live through the things he did.

  • Personality:
    • Adopted and raised by a Jedi couple, somehow didn't develop a complex regarding his lack of Force sensitivity
    • Generally takes an unserious approach to life
    • Thinks he is a gigachad/the Rizzard of Oz but is actually a giant nerd
    • Has virtually nothing in common culturally with other Chiss, who usually regard him as undisciplined or even childish
    • Loves movies, comics, and video games, though he is terrible at the latter

APPEARANCE:

A tall, lanky Chiss male with red eyes and curly blue-black hair, often seen sporting a big dumb grin.

BIOGRAPHY:

Once upon a time, the Chiss homeworld got blown up. That's right, Csilla was the first to get the annihilation treatment, though you could be forgiven for forgetting it happened since it was kinda overshadowed by all the other annihilations that followed... Anyway, there was a Chiss woman who managed to escape the destruction and avoid becoming a statistic only to die in childbirth aboard a refugee ship. With no other kin stepping up to care for him, the baby boy was turned over to an orphanage.

Cato and Inanna Harth were a Jedi couple living on the Vonnuvi, an Ithorian herdship. They already had a daughter, Serena, from Cato's previous fling with a Zeltron, but wanted another kid. Unfortunately Inanna was sterile due to an "unorthodox Force-based medical treatment" so they decided to adopt a Chiss baby in the wake of Csilla's destruction. Yep, they had a pink girl and then went and got themselves a blue boy. You can't make this shit up.

Rather than a hyphenated Chiss name, the baby was christened Ashur by his adoptive parents. The name came from Inanna's Shi'ido heritage, and was chosen mainly because Cato found it easy to pronounce. Thus, little Ashur grew up on the Vonnuvi, raised alongside his big sister Serena.

Lord Meverell
Chief Minister of Ukatis
A common-born lawyer, Meverell rose to the position of chief minister through hard work (and a bit of pure luck). Pragmatic and hypercompetent, he is devoted to his country and strives to accomplish any task required to ensure Ukatis' safety and prosperity.

tPr3g41.png

Father Lakota
Patriarch of Axilla
The highest ranking clergyman of the Church of the Light, Lakota is a kindly man painfully aware of how little power he truly has to protect his people from harm. He spent several years in prison because he supported King Horace's predecessor; Horace let him go only after he swore fealty to the new sovereign.

Judith Shepherd
Shepherdess
A peasant girl with high Force potential, Judith rejected a chance to train as a Jedi in favor of remaining on Ukatis. She tends her sheep, raises her infant son Kranos... and may or may not be a rebel plotting against the monarchy.

Alecto Kennet
Duchess of Carolus
Despite being one of the most powerful noblewomen in the land, the Duchess recently took the cloth and temporarily served the poor as a lowly nun. At the end of her service, she returned to her castle, from which she has not emerged since...

Wilhelm the Marshal
Knight of Ukatis
A war hero renowned for his honor and virtue, he was mysteriously absent during King Horace's hour of need.

Blaise the Magus
A rogue Force User captured by the Jedi, he worshiped an old god called Tophet which offered power in exchange for human sacrifices. He is currently locked up in Azrael Asylum.

Lord Albrecht von Duschendorff
The son of a minor nobleman, Albrecht was found to be Force sensitive and trained as a Jedi. He was falsely accused of treason by King Horace and sentenced to death, but was rescued by his fellow Jedi. He left the Order not long after he was knighted. His current whereabouts are unknown.

Lady Giselle von Ascania
Corazona's beautiful and spoiled cousin is not as innocent and foolish as she seems. A few years ago, after being brought to court following the death of her father, she was "abducted" by the King of Alderaan and "imprisoned" aboard the Vonnuvi. In fact, Giselle orchestrated this convoluted series of events in order to escape King Horace's clutches, but became caught in her own web when her one-time betrothed, Albrecht, came to "rescue" her. Albrecht subsequently took the fall for her "kidnapping" and Horace, believing the girl was damaged goods, ceased his romantic pursuit. During the Sith invasion, she was conveniently away on "vacation".

Rc2UjW3.png

APPEARANCE:

Eloise stands out not only for her height and muscular physique, but also because of her eclectic style. A natural redhead, she dyes her hair purple and typically wears it in braids. Her clothing incorporates both primitive and modern elements, with organic materials such as leather alongside artificial fabrics. She likes to wear jewelry and has amassed a considerable collection of earrings, necklaces, bracelets, and more.

THE STORY SO FAR

Eloise and her twin brother Marcus were born shortly after the fall of the Sith Eternal, a short-lived faction their parents had been low-ranking members of. Their father, Arcturus Dinn, went missing before their mother, Ishani Sibwarra, discovered she was pregnant. Ishani attempted to care for her children, relying heavily on her wealthy parents for support, but she was young, troubled, and unprepared for motherhood.

When the twins were four years old, their father suddenly reappeared. The circumstances of his return were less than happy. Trapped in the Netherworld due to a curse, Arcturus didn't even know his children existed and fell into a deep depression at the news. As he ran away from his problems, Ishani chased after him, leaving her two young children in the care of her parents, Senator Toloth Threepwood and his wife Charisse. Not long after she was reported deceased on Tython, killed during a battle against the Maw. Eloise spent the next three years of her life on Chaldea, where she and her brother lived with their loving, if strict, grandparents.

But once again, like clockwork, their parents returned. Mom was back from the dead and Dad was back from the Nether, now wanting to take the twins with them to build a new life together. At the time, Eloise didn't understand why Grandpa and Grandma were so reluctant to let them go. After a tense confrontation, a deal was struck and the children were turned over to their parents, who immediately whisked them away to the distant planet of Zaathru. There they were raised in the lap of luxury, surrounded by primitive natives who believed the Force Sensitive family to be gods incarnate. Eloise was told she was the personification of the moon goddess Damara, the Queen of the Night. She liked the sound of that, but to her child's mind it was all just a game of make-believe. Deep down she knew she wasn't really a goddess or a queen.

As she grew older, Eloise began to understand just how destructive the game of godhood could be. In addition to righteous crusades against slavers and raiders, her parents went to war with other "deities" in the Pantheon of Zaathru, laying waste to whole cities, slaughtering thousands, and eradicating any culture which didn't fit into their mythology. She watched her younger siblings fall prey to delusions of grandeur, utterly convinced that they were divine.

And then, she discovered an unthinkable secret about her parents. She rushed to her twin brother, who had always been her friend and confidant, and told him of what she had seen. To her horror, she learned that Marcus had known of it all along, yet had done nothing. He had simply played along.

Ashamed and disgusted with her family, Eloise ran away from home. With her Zaathrian ways and the isolation she grew up in, she found the galaxy a strange and alienating place. She joined the Jedi Order in hopes of fighting the Sith, but to her surprise she was assigned to the Chief Healer, Amani Serys Amani Serys , becoming her apprentice. Among her peers, she made more enemies than friends. A brief but passionate romance with fellow Padawan Diogo Talon ended abruptly when her lover disappeared, leaving Eloise heartbroken and alone. Since then she has buried herself in her work, utterly focused on reaching the next level of her training. Knighthood awaits...

  • Personality & Beliefs:
    • Vivacious socialite
    • Brainless beauty
    • Mysterious past
    • Probably has a secret agenda... but then, doesn't everyone?

BIOGRAPHY:

Mara claims to be the sole survivor of House Aurelai, a fairly isolated noble family which was thought to have been wiped out by Queen Kha'la Daaray Kha'la Daaray after they were charged with harboring sympathies for the Crimson Veil. It is unknown if there was any truth to the accusations. According to Mara, she survived the purge because her parents had sent her to Naboo to be fostered in the ways of courtly etiquette.

She made her debut in the court of Hapes only a year ago, making her first public appearance on Harterra during the annual celebration of the Queen Mother's Birthday. Her arrival on the scene occurred during a time of relative peace after the upheaval of the Hapan Crisis, though it was not without conflict. The struggle between traditionalists and activists persisted even as the Consortium, under the guidance of Queen Nimaa'ri Daaray, began implementing legislation which overturned the longstanding inequalities between Hapan men and women.

Mara embraced the new order as much as any other noble suck-up, but was largely indifferent to the politics of the Cluster. After all, she was raised Naboo. She has made a few efforts to restore her family's reputation, though her main interests seem to be fashion and gossip. This apparent empty-headedness (and a healthy dose of pheromones, purportedly the result of her having Zeltron heritage) has endeared her to her fellow nobles, with many calling her a close friend and confidante. You can tell Mara anything, they say, even your deepest darkest secrets, and she will give you her sympathy... right up until she forgets whatever you talked about.

In a shocking turn of events, Queen Nimaa'ri was assassinated before she could produce an heir. Into the resulting power vacuum stepped Queen Aurellia Aurellia of House Rekali, ascending the throne with the help of the Black Sun. Mara was shopping for shoes when it happened, but even she can't totally ignore the seismic shifts that have followed, as Aurellia seeks to revert Hapan society back to its original form. Will she prove herself a loyal vassal to the new monarch, or a thorn in her side? Or will Mara be swept away by the tides of change? Only time will tell.

NAME: Sycorax Laveaux

FACTION: --

RANK: Senator of Dahrtag (aka Necropolis)

SPECIES: Human

AGE: 40s

SEX: Female

HEIGHT: 5'4" (1.62 meters)

BUILD: Average

EYES: Dark Brown

HAIR: Black with white streaks

SKIN: Pale

FORCE SENSITIVE: No

THEME: "The Villain I Appear To Be"

TRAITS

A Kind Word and a Gun
: Sycorax is known for speaking plainly, and is not afraid to be forceful. She won't bend the knee to tyrants.
"Sycorax Laveaux spoke sensibly, as had been Cressida's expectation based on experience. Cressida had to admire her plain-spoken nature; too many people -- herself most of all, she had to admit -- were prone to theatrics. Sometimes the best strategy was straight talk." - Cressida Tolliver

A Good Woman is Hard to Find: Sycorax has developed a reputation for not taking bribes or making friends with crooks, even though doing so has painted a target on her back.

Combative: Sycorax has grown used to having to fight for survival, let alone for her voice to be heard. She is quick to resort to more aggressive measures, and isn't the most diplomatic of diplomats.
"... and Senator Laveaux was... Senator Laveaux. Natasi had more faith in a Hutt's slimming regimen than she did in Dahrtag's Senator intentionally doing something productive." - Natasi Fortan

Religious: Sycorax is a practitioner of Necropolitan voodoo. She believes there are grave consequences for those who disturb the dead, and fears the bocors, sorcerers with the power to raise zombies and capture people's souls. She harbors an automatic distrust of Force Users.

Non-Mainstream Politics: Sycorax is frequently a dissenting voice in the Senate. She didn't support droid rights, but was the primary writer of the Equal Rights Act enshrining gender equality, and has been a vocal advocate for the rights of Hapan males in particular. Despite this, she is a populist at heart and generally supports less federal involvement in the economies and governments of individual member worlds.

APPEARANCE:

Sycorax Laveaux stands at five feet four inches tall, with a lithe figure kept in shape by regular exercise. Though not beautiful in a conventional sense, her face, with its striking combination of features - an impish turned-up nose, large, expressive dark eyes, and full lips - might be called pretty. A failed assassination attempt over a decade ago left her badly burned and disfigured, requiring reconstructive surgery. Makeup and clothing hide the worst of it, though prominent scars are still visible along her jawline and neck. Regarded as a fashion icon on her homeworld, she paints her face pale white with black lipstick, eyeliner, and bold eyebrows drawn in thin slanting lines. A distinct zig-zagging streak of white runs through her frizzy, gravity-defying dark hair. In contrast, her clothing tends to be simple and conservative, helping to hide the damage done by the assassins' bomb.

BIOGRAPHY:
Elsa%2BLanchester%2B%25281%2529.jpg

Sycorax Flannery Laveaux was born in the city of Lamont to a wealthy family. Her parents had dabbled in political activism during their college years, though both would ultimately settle into a comfortably bougie lifestyle even as they continued to extoll the virtues of poor working people.

Spending much of her childhood and adolescence at a series of boarding schools, Sycorax grew from a quiet, reserved girl into an outspoken, free-thinking young woman eager for independence. Her idea of rebellion involved a return to the traditionalism of her forebears. As a teenager Sycorax adopted voodoo, an almost forgotten Necropolitan religion defined by veneration of spirits, or loa. Her neglectful parents hardly noticed (nor cared) when she set up a shrine and altar in her old treehouse and began performing the ancient rites.

At school she shunned the companionship of those in her social class, instead befriending the outsiders. With her preppy boarding school uniform, bobbed hair and bare face, she stood out like a sore thumb in a crowd of long-haired punks and outcasts, many of whom were suspicious of the poor little rich girl's motives. It was through these subcultures that she met a wannabe rock star named Victor at a necropunk concert. The two felt an attraction to one another, though their relationship was turbulent and fraught with the usual teenage angst. After a rocky start, they embarked on a passionate romance.

Though she initially felt a calling to a religious vocation, she eventually opted for a career in politics and was elected Mayor of Lamont. Her youthful idealism was quickly culled when her fight against organized crime in her hometown led to an assassination attempt on her wedding night. Victor was killed; Sycorax survived, but was badly disfigured.

From then on, it was war. She headed the creation of a secret paramilitary group, the so-called "Monsters of Necropolis", which infiltrated, hunted down and wiped out numerous criminal gangs. They also uncovered evidence of voivodes, the ancient vampire nobility, still occupying positions of power within Dahrtag's government. Sycorax's mistake was trying to fight them with subterfuge and blackmail; when these tactics failed, she resorted to assassinations. Her critics denounced her for being just as thuggish as the gangsters she had campaigned against, but her zero tolerance policy led to her gaining the support of the common people who had long suffered under the reign of parasites.

Decades after she began the process of cleaning up Lamont, she was elected Senator of Dahrtag in the GA Assembly, a position which her predecessor left stained by scandal and corruption. Her tenure was eventful; she supported Alicio Organa as the Chancellor, penned the Equal Rights Act, defeated a longtime rival, survived another assassination attempt, and even found love with ex-SIA operative Aldric Laurent. When the GA began to fall apart and the Senate became infected with Imperials, she steered her homeworld into the unknown with her head held high and her hand on her trusty blaster.

I.
They came to Naboo because they heard it was the safest place in the galaxy. No one would ever raze Theed, whose beauty was revered throughout the galaxy, it was said. Together they stood in their new home, the wife holding on to her husband with one hand and balancing her baby on her hip with the other. Never again would they have to watch their home burn. Their daughter, so small and innocent, would never see her family slaughtered. Yes, they would be fine here.

II.
There was never enough money. Father went out in search of a job, only to return hours later empty-handed and with a distant look in his eye. Was he really looking for work, or did he just wander all day, thinking about the war? Mother worked from sunrise until sunset and came home so tired she could barely stand up straight. She went to bed, got up at dawn, and did it all over again. What did they pay her? Not nearly enough for the cost her work demanded of her. The rent was overdue, and the landlord was threatening to evict them. They were proud people, too proud to accept handouts, but it was time to face the facts. If they didn't take the subsidies offered by the government, their children would starve.

III.
Naboo had given her family everything - and nothing. They gave them enough to survive, putting food in their bellies and a roof over their heads, but not enough to stand on their own. Not enough to break the cycle of poverty. Not enough for college. There were scholarships, sure, but as long as she was working to help pay the bills, she didn't have time to study. Her grades weren't good enough. She was going to be stuck working in this daycare forever.

IV.
One day, the father of one of the kids at the daycare came up to her and said, "Pardon me, miss, but you look an awful lot like Lady Elaine."

"Who?" she replied, sour and impatient after a long day of dealing with the little bastards.

"Lady Elaine Vivar," the man said. "I'm Captain Ulster Lennox, Chief of Security of House Vivar. I've been looking for someone to be my lady's decoy."

She stared at him, incredulous, wondering if this was some sort of joke. But he was completely serious. "What if I was? How much money would I make?"

He named an astronomical figure. Blinking, she asked, "Would the Vivars pay for me to go to college?"

"Oh yes, I'm sure they would. They take good care of their people. I know that from experience."

She told him she would think about it. But as soon as her shift ended, she called him up and said yes.

V.
On her first day as a handmaiden, they gave her a new name: Servaine. All of the other handmaidens had names that sounded similar to Elaine - Lyssaine, Corvaine, Marraine, Jassaine. Supposedly it was to make them harder for outsiders to keep track of, serving the same purpose as wearing identical outfits.

There were a lot more handmaidens than she expected. They all had small, delicate features and slim, fragile bodies reminiscent of their mistress, but for most that was where the similarities ended. Only Servaine looked just like Elaine. Well, apart from her nose, but they could fix that. Her nose job was scheduled for next Primeday.

Training was brutal at first, but she adapted. Her thin frame, skinny and bony when she began, grew more toned, and she could run for longer periods without tiring. She learned how to shoot a fly off a shaak's ear without hurting the animal, and how to disarm an attacker. "Servaine is a smart girl and a quick learner," Captain Lennox proclaimed. "I'm so glad I found her. I can't imagine a more perfect handmaiden."
