SPECIAL FEATURES

STRENGTHS
  • Jedi War Plate: The armor was designed to take sustained blows from lightsabers, repeated blaster shots, and significant kinetic punishment, boasting excellent protection against all common battlefield hazards, even extending that protection to Sonic weaponry, which has historically been favoured against Jedi. Similarly, considerations for protection against electrical attacks, often employed by Dark Siders, have led to improved defenses against lightning-based attacks.
  • Luminous Matter: The incorporation of a kyber crystal shard grants a wearer attuned to the Force improved battle competence, manifesting in sharper reflexes, improved ability to concentrate, decreased distractability, and a heightened awareness for the intents of allied Force Sensitive combatants. Wearers not attuned to the Force receive significnatly lessened or no such boons, but nonetheless receive benefits from all protective features.

WEAKNESSES
  • Simplicity: The armor lacks many common high-tech features that would bridge a gap in combat performance, demanding inherent skill and competency from the wearer rather. Combatants wearing the armor can count on its protective features, but receive no tangible technological assistance beyond that protection.
  • Steeped in Light: The integration of a kyber crystal shard gives the armor a greater presence within the Force (Light Side especially), complicating attempts to avoid detection by means of Force Powers. Conventional camouflage is not affected by this weakness, though the relative bulk and weight of the armor make it unsuited for purposes of stealth. Moreover, Force nullification cancels the enhancements a wearer might experience from the integrated kyber.

DESCRIPTION

The TEMPLAR war plate both distinguishes Jedi warriors from their less-militant counterparts, and provides them with excellent all around protection. The composite armor proves its worth in its capacity to save its wearer from fatal lightsaber blows while maintaining pace with elite modern war gear in its ability to handle explosive and energy based threats. Between the plates, specialized blaster-dispersing materials absorb energy blasts, drastically lessening the deadliness of direct hits, while providing layered protection against shrapnel and conventional slugthrower based weaponry.

Within the chestpiece of each set of armor, a kyber crystal shard bestows an improved ability to negotiate the complexities of warfare, both by granting greater clarity of mind and by rendering small assistance with sustained or sudden uses of the Force. This inherent connection to the Force makes the armor, and its wearer, stand out within the Force in a way that conventional combat armor doesn't.

A Jedi can go to war with little more than a robe or a leather jacket, but it helps to have options. The TEMPLAR-class Jedi war plate represents one such option suited for militant Jedi frequently deploying to active war zones.
