Braze was going on a hike, a very long hike, after they hopped off the War Tortle. The location was a remote jungle, nearly on the opposite side of the planet from the Jedi Temple.

Braze thought this was perhaps the best course of action with Okuma Milogen Okuma Milogen , all things considered. They didn’t have proper facilities to ensure he wouldn’t cause further harm. When Okuma had been tranquilized, he was implanted with a small tracking microchip beneath his skin.

Accompanied by Saram Kote Saram Kote and @Jasper Kai’el , their prisoner was unblindfolded and nudged forward into the jungle clearing. Braze glanced to Saram, then to Jasper.

“Any parting words for him?” he asked.

Once their peace was said, Braze tossed a vibroblade into the ground at Okuma's feet, then placed the Padawan's own lightsaber beside it, its internal lock sealed through a force activated Mechanism, keeping the weapon fixed in a non-lethal mode.

“Go on , undo your own binds,” he encouraged. It was perhaps cruel to make Okuma free himself, but in a way, it felt like poetic justice.

Veridia was not a planet Saran would have ordinarily wanted to find herself on. This was important, however. When the dust had settled after Braze Braze 's arrest and subsequent exile, Okuma Milogen Okuma Milogen was remanded into the custody of the Jetii of this world. If it were up to her, he would have been shot in the back of the head and tossed out the closest airlock. Unfortunately, she had not been consulted on what was to be done with him initially. The plan was to leave him on this continent, and if he made it back to the temple, it would be taken as a sign of him wanting to start over. The closest thing to a cin vhetin she'd seen aruetii do, and everyone deserved a cin vhetin, right? Well, that was at least what she told herself.

While Saram's rifle was too large to be cradled in her arms for easy use on the ride here, her hand had hovered around her sidearm the entire time. He had been searched, but one could never be too sure. She may have thought that he was chaav'la, but that was all the more reason to suspect that he would try something. Not that the prospect concerned her. Nor was it his profession that had led to her judgement of him, but his deeds. They were not only heinous, but a disgrace to their shared line of work. Once his blindfold was removed and he was nudged toward into the clearing, Saram had to fight her instincts to not put a round into him then and there.

“Any parting words for him?” he asked.

"A few," she replied without emotion. Saram ejected the magazine from her rifle and removed the top round. She looked it over once in her armored hands before flicking it at Okuma Milogen Okuma Milogen , watching as it fell to the ground in slow motion fractions of a second later. "The next one's coming a lot faster."

"What I wouldn't give to make things that simple..." Jasper exhaled.

He'd certainly like to just shoot Okuma. It would give him peace of mind, as it were. In that regard he respected the Mandalorian's words. Alas, the masters of the Veridian Temple had cast their verdict, and he was ordered to fulfill that request. Jasper was capable of putting his emotions aside to do what had to be done.

"Better get moving," he stated in a blunt tone. "That flask of water won't last longer than a few days. If you don't want to find out what it's like to die of dehydration I suggest you find a source of fresh water fast."

The Veridian wilderness was bizarre in many ways. There was a good chance he'd just die out here. Still, if he survived and went on to be a thorn again...

Jasper would just finish the job himself.

Okuma wasn’t entirely sure what was happening. It felt like they were traveling too far for a simple hidden execution. Even so, he felt like putting down an unarmed, and bound foe was rather un-jedi like. But a lot of what he’s witnessed from the NJO types seemed un-jedi like to him. At least from his own experience with the Silvers.

When the blindfold was removed he squinted his yellow eye and found himself in an unfamiliar clearing. His pupils quickly constricting and darting around to take in his surroundings before turning back towards the trio that took him here.

He listened to what they had to say. First was a threat from the mandalorian woman. Someone he probably should’ve dealt with weeks ago on Ossus. Her parting gift was a single slug.

Jasper, the runic warrior, left him with a flask of water and some parting words about the importance of finding more. He likely only had two, three days tops before dying of dehydration. Knowing that he was in a jungle, Okuma got an idea that water wouldn’t be hard to find, sanitary water on the other hand might be a bit more challenging.

Laster was Braze, the primary victim of his escapades who threw a vibro knife into the ground before and his saber next to it. An interesting assortment of things left behind for him. Dropping to a knee Okuma brought his bound wrists to the stuck blade and with a deft tug cut away the binds and freed his hands. Glancing back up at the three of them pulled the knife from the ground and picked up the single bullet before he stood back up. “Here I was thinking you three were gonna hang around longer to enjoy a road side picnic. You’re just gonna drop me off here? No demands? Nothing you need me to do?”

Braze drew a heavy breath. " Not sure you'd listen to me... You often talk like surviving is the same as living. It's not. I know you can make it through this jungle, but if you don't start figuring out what kind of man you want to be when you get out… you'll still be lost. Everyone's got a story that makes them the way they are. That doesn't change that you get to choose what you do next. You keep telling yourself you didn't have a choice, but that's how you ended up here. You've done a lot of things and told yourself they were necessary... Maybe they were. But if you never stop long enough to ask what they cost you... You're just surrendering to 'fate'. You don't need forgiveness... You need a reason to stop making the same choices. Figure that out, and maybe you'll stop ending up on the wrong side of the knife... If your path ever leads you back to the Temple, let it be in peace. Don't come back to prove anyone wrong, or to settle old debts. You'll be welcome if you do. No one's beyond walking home again."

Saram scoffed at Okuma's comment. Defiance. She expected as much. Braze spoke first, prompting her to turn and glance at him, albeit unnecessarily. With her buy'ce's 360 field of view she could see him regardless. She listened to what he had to see, lacking the context to fully understand much of what he had to say, but trusting there was sincerity and truth in his words. She didn't pretend to know anything about Okuma, nor had she cared enough to do anything about this, but she knew that if the time came again that he proved to be a problem she would deal with him herself.

"What the ad'ika said," she said once Braze had finished speaking. "I don't know who or what you were before, but ours is a profession where you scarcely get to walk away from your mistakes, use your second chance well. You won't get a third," she said, tone even. Perhaps she would stay on this planert for some time then, just to make sure that one way or another, whatever choice he made, he was not going to be a problem any longer.

"I don't know who or what you were before, but ours is a profession where you scarcely get to walk away from your mistakes, use your second chance well. You won't get a third,"

"The second alone may as well come with a collar around your neck," Jasper remarked.

He was going to be under a high level of scrutiny. Jasper was going to be certain that Okuma was never a problem ever again. He knew what made the former Jedi tick, at least internally. Now he had no short of methods to see him put down if it was necessary for the safety of the public.

And he had always been willing to make the hard choices others couldn't.

"Well... better get going," he told the Kage. "I'd rather not have to jump-start ya."

Once everyone had said their peace, Braze turned away, leading his entourage of Saram and Jasper back toward the armored speeder.

Behind them, the jungle swallowed the clearing, its dense canopy closing in like a set of jaws. The air was humid and heavy, filled with the hum of small insects and the distant cries of unknown creatures stirring within the foliage. The light was fading quickly beneath the tangled boughs, where vines hung like coiled serpents and the soil shifted with the rustle of things that crept or crawled. Shadows moved as if breathing, their shifting forms echoing the same unseen threat that grew whenever fear took hold, each ever-shifting shade holding the same unknown danger that seemed to come alive when paranoia ran wild.

With that, Okuma was left to his own devices among the trees, the wilderness watching in silence. The half Echani youth paused at the door as he stepped back into the transport, offering one final forlorn glance over his shoulder looking towards the man before sealing the hatch. The speeder's repulsors roared to life, churning up leaves and dust as it zipped away, disappearing down the narrow trail, leaving Okuma alone with what little they had left him.

He stayed bound, left to wrestle with rope and remorse alike, as none made move to untether him. The wilderness of Veridia was as dangerous as it was beautiful. The Dark jungles were vast, and untamed. Now Okuma had nothing left but himself, his wits, and his own thoughts for company.

So it seemed like he wasn’t going to be killed. He was being condemned to undergo some kind of journey of personal growth. The world had an annoying habit of always testing his patience even now. At least now he didn’t need to guess about what he was supposed to be doing here anymore, and he was no stranger to being discarded and abandoned by Jedi.

He’d kept shut over their parting remark. He had no quips or insults to leave behind. Confident that anything he shared with them would be dismissed and forgotten. Collecting the few items he had with him he knew he’d need to be mindful of what little was at his disposal now. He didn’t know much about this foreign world. He’d be cautious but not scared over what he’d need to overcome here.

Glancing up his yellow eye peered over the canopy above in the clearing he was left within. Looking up into the sky and sun to get a sense of direction. Okuma needed to remember if the sun rises from east to west or west to east here. Or even if the magnetic poles here had a more standard deviation of poles. Reaching some higher elevation would surely help him a great deal as well. Shelter, water, food, a simple checklist for him to focus on for now, until he got his hands on Braze again and could finally complete his contract. The longer the Jedi kept him from finishing the job the longer they would need to come into conflict.

Okuma was confident that he would overcome this jungle. Believing that it would childs play compared to surviving in the caverns of his homeworld. Simply because here he could actually see where he was going...

The jungle canopy overhead sways in the breeze. As Okuma moves, the ground slopes upward toward a hill finding himself left intentionally in sort of davit of the land. Roots knot the path, damp with moss and half-buried stone. Every few steps, the earth shifts beneath his boots, soft with moisture.

The sun sits low in the sky obscured behind the trees. It is hard to tell east from west through all that green.

A backpack would’ve been nice, or some sort of pack for him to gather things with. He didn’t want to fashion something for himself. Maybe the region he was dropped in was more civilized than it seemed and he could get something from a local. But Okuma doubted that it would be too easy. Or would it? He wasn’t really sure yet what was expected of him.

For the direction Okuma had chosen to go he found the incline of the ground to raise slowly. Giving him an idea of where to find higher ground so long as he just kept moving up. He’d love to find some kind of source of running water, as he could find plenty of things then. He hoped that once he reached the apex of whatever geographic feature he was moving up, he could survey the land and maybe find a creek or river.

Getting some fresh(ish) water and maybe some flint would help greatly in increasing his odds. Even if he didn’t think that he would die, he still wouldn’t want to suffer. At least he’d have plenty of time to himself. He was getting mighty tired of all the company he’d been keeping the last few weeks.

Once he got to the top of the hill Okuma still couldn’t see much because of the foliage and canopy. Approaching the tallest tree that he could, the kage would grab hold of it before starting a quick climb up its branches to get even more height and a clear view.

Unfortunately, Okuma would first need to locate a village, and that meant finding a natural guide. In theory it should not have been difficult. If he could find a river, he could simply follow its path. Rivers always led somewhere. Flowing water carved its way toward the sea, and the sea meant coastline, trade, and settlement. Civilization clustered near life-giving waterways afterall.

From his perch high in the tree canopy, Okuma had a commanding view of the wilderness. The world stretched out in a quivering quilt of green, broken only by ridgelines and the soft gleam of distant water. As he scanned the horizon, his eyes caught a wide clearing where the forest parted around a river's great sweeping bend. The water there spread broad and bright, widening almost into the shape of a young lake before narrowing again and continuing its journey.

Fresh running water was a far safer prospect than any still pool, and this river clearly had a steady current. It offered both direction and promise of salvation. If Okuma could reach that bend, he'd have a clear heading. From there, all he needed to do was let the river lead him.
