  • Amaranth Focusing Crystal: Due to the powerful nature of the Amaranth crystal as a focusing crystal. This has turned the Defiler into an ion disruptor rifle several magnitudes stronger than any other competing weapon on the market, a truly terrifying display of its strength.
  • Class D Annihilation: The Defiler has a notorious reputation for its horrific use on sentient beings. Just a single shot from it was powerful enough at its higher setting, to produce a blast to atomize an entire group of people. When the Defiler is used on an organic being, the victim disintegrates on a molecular level being torn apart atom by atom. This results in an excruciatingly painful, slow, grotesque death.
  • Ionization: The ionization power possessed by the Defiler has quickly developed a notorious reputation. One of its modular effects as an ion disruptor; its power unleashes bursts of ionized plasma with enough power to puncture starship hulls. Due to its design the weapon was able to make quick work of many mechanized infantry, airspeeders, and many armored vehicles. Its power was deadly on aircraft when it could shut down crucial components sending them into a death spiral.

  • Very Heavy Requires Strength For Optimal Use: Due to the advanced technology poured into it and the sheer size of the individuals designed to utilize it, the Defiler is exceptionally heavy. Most races will not possess the required strength to wield the weapon effectively.
  • No Half-Measures: This is a weapon solely dedicated to doling out death in an horribly painful way. There is no stun setting, no wounding your target in an effort to take them alive. When the Defiler shoots it disintegrates its victim in the most painful way possible.
  • Unmodifiable: Due to its unique nature the Defiler is unmodifiable by troops in the field, in order to modify the weapon, it requires the work of a dedicated weaponsmith or engineer, someone who understands the inner workings and plenty of time. It is not something that can be done quickly.

The Blackblade Guard have left behind a terrifying legacy of death.

Through the will of their dark masters they've butchered countless worlds, condemning trillions to death without hesitation. Over the decades this is an art they perfected, carefully curating methods, tactics, and weaponry utilized to such an end. It was in the aftermath of Operation Decimation - the Genocide of the Mandalorians that the Defiler Project was put into motion. A new method was put into place during the genocide that saw the rapid annihilation of countless clans in a record amount of time, surprising even the high command of the Guard itself. But the process required many things chief among them time, resources, and control on their side.

All of these were at their disposal when the Mandalorians were stripped of everything they had, brought to death sites to be executed, their bodies fed to molecular furnaces while their beskar was melted down into its original state, or repurposed for different use. In the aftermath of such a swift mass slaughter there were two questions posed to the High Command: What if they didn't possess all three components required, and how could they increase efficiency? Under the leadership of Director-General Arkoh Grevane the Engineering Corps of the Blackblade Guard was put to work. Once more they teamed up with the Sianium Development and Research Department of Aurora Industries. A highly successful partnership resulted in the acquisition of Amaranth Crystals.

These unique crystals proved invaluable in the development of the Executioner and Harvester weaponry. They were a cutting-edge development that increased a weapons power by several magnitudes, when the design was perfected, it turned an ordinary weapon into something greater. Out of all the weapons in the galactic market it was decided that disruptors would be the best choice, for their terrible effects they were considered highly illegal by most governments. The choice for the base model ultimately came down to history. The iconic Ion Disruptor was a model utilized for genocide in the past, a horrific weapon with a dark history. It was the perfect model of choice for the Blackblade Guard. Moreover, it was perfect for its dual purpose in how it atomized organic life, and the effect it had on many various vehicles.

Adaptability was one of the most important parts of the Blackblade Guard. They needed to be able to handle any threat, any environment, any changing factors that threw wrenches in them achieving their objective. This required the equipment they use be adaptable to many different functions. The dual nature of an Ion Disruptor made it the perfect weapon. It gave a Guardsmen the ability to tackle multiple problems at once. Should they face a situation where time, resources, or control is not in their favor they now had a weapon that could take care of the problem. Even in a time of war the Guard could conduct a mass slaughter, the atomization ensured there was no need for body disposal. A population could be slaughtered right where they slept. In times of conflict the weapon could bring down aircraft and even target and pose a significant threat against armored targets, giving the Guard the ability to tackle any situation.

The technicians of the Blackblade Engineering Corps went to work under the purview of the Director-General taking apart various models on the market, before designing the blueprint of what would become the perfect design. After Director-General Grevane was satisfied with what they designed a prototype was approved for production through the automated factories of Malsheem. It was put through an extensive battery of tests in various situations to ensure its effectiveness, an anti-ion mesh was part of the design to protect the weapon, moreover a biometric lock was put into place. This meant that each weapon was programmed exclusively for the guardsmen it was assigned to. Even if an enemy managed to acquire one, its system ensured it was all but useless to them and could not be tampered with. The weapon emerged from its tests with great success, and it was quickly approved for mass production. After witnessing many die screaming to the terrible fate thrust upon them by this weapon led to it being coined the Defiler.
