Sworn to Valor

INVITE ONLY

Ryan stood inside a courtyard of the Tython temple at parade rest, hands clasped behind his back, shoulders straight. Red locks framed a pale, scarred face that marked him as one who had suffered anguish, despair and defeat time and again. The broad shouldered Jedi stood like a proud, weathered rock. Unyielding, despite the ceaseless waves that broke upon him.

He surveyed those gathered in the courtyard with stormy gray eyes.

"I have been granted permission by the Grandmaster to assemble a small team. You were all selected not only because of your skillsets, but because I know that in the face of Darkness you will not quail. Our objective is to rescue the padawans captured at Teta. None of you will be forced to accompany me on this mission. The risk is high, but I will not stand by and let them face suffering and death at the hands of the Sith, even if I go alone."

He scowled.

"Stay, or leave, but decide now. We leave in two hours for Mandalorian space."

He was called for an important mission by a Jedi Knight named Ryan Korr. Why would anyone call a Padawan for something that was too important? But he would let the force decide that question. He didn't call it destiny, no, he called it fate. That was a better word. Fate and the Force would decide whether he and this chosen group would succeed or die trying.

He was outside of the Jedi Temple of Tython with the other Jedi that were chosen for this mission. He listened with his ears open and was noting every single word that came out from Ryan. Turns out that he would be betting with his life in a game with the Sith if he decided to join to rescue Padawans that were captured on Teta. He wasn't there in the battle but he did hear the reports. Many Jedi and Republic soldiers fell at the hand of the Sith, converted, or were imprisoned and would probably be tortured and questioned.

"I accept," were the only words that came out of Hatake's mouth. There was no fear in him but there probably would be once the operation commenced. But he would try to contain and tame that fear for it would do him nor the others any good. However, he was ready to play his cards against the Sith and would bet and raise the stakes with the Sith in this dangerous game.

Shaw McKeller

The Demon of Concordia
Shaw sat quietly on a low wall surrounding the fountain in the courtyard that [member="Ryan Korr"] was using as a briefing area. The Mando wore a rough-spun tunic with breeches and a soft rope belt around his waist. Battle-worn boots sat nearby and he sat barefoot, enjoying the feeling of grass on his feet and toes.

"Rescue the padawans, save the Jedi, attack the One Sith," McKeller summarized. "Why, pray tell, are we going into Mandalorian space? Have the One Sith and the Mandalorians made a pact?"

He knew that wasn't the case. The Mandos had little love for the Republic, but they hated the Sith. The current Mandalore wasn't doing too much on the whole lately, but even he wouldn't make the unintelligent decision to side with the Sith.

The grouping of the Jedi were located within a courtyard at the Tython temple. He had brought the Padawan that he felt would do the best upon the mission along with him to the briefing. His Padawan, Hatake Mutashi, spoke first of joining the mission and although Zaren knew there would be plenty of danger upon this mission, he knew his Padawan would be ready for the dangers ahead. And if not, well there were several other Padawans present to aid if need be.

It will certainly be a dangerous mission. There are more Padawans here than actual Knights and Masters. Is it wise to bring so many? They may be willing to put their lives on the line, but reports say that even Masters left the Jedi Order.

He folded his arms in front of him and thought for a moment. It was their duty to bring back their Jedi no matter where they were located. Whether in Mandalorian space, or the One Sith's locations. They were Jedi, and they needed help. "I accept." It wasn't even a question.

Qun knew he was not a good Jedi. Considering his alcoholism and inability to use the Force without indulging his addictions he was quite possibly the worst Jedi in modern history, surpassing even old warring grandmaster pharisees. However, Qun was not one to remain bound to his fate. At heart Qun strived to be a good man, to adhere to the Jedi principals, to live up to his potential. Whatever a drunken lout's potential was anyways. When the Jedi Knight had asked him to be part of a team he questioned the man's decision to pick him, but not his own decision.

"I will join you." Qun said confidently, before adding a second statement. "Though I will need a lot of Lum." He said, before looking around for the farming Jedi he'd met before. He could grow things on the way over and they could make fresh drinks but alas he was nowhere to be found. It was probably better that way, as he did say all he could do was make things grow, not particularly useful if they had to battle inside a durasteel bunker or some other such territory.

Talon had not expected this, not when he so wanted to go in search of his dear friend but he could never refuse a call to save padawans from the Sith either. Talon walked in to see Jedi Korr, an excellent Jedi in Talon's opinion, standing in front of the group. It was just as well Knights needed to have chances to lead if they were expected to ever be leaders. Talon stood at the back of the group and smiled when he heard the destination was Mandalorian space.

"I'm in." He said piping up over the gathered group, "but this is your show, Jedi Korr."

Talon waited for the rest to show or not as they chose and started making a mental list of things he would need to bring to Mando-land.

What could one say to those who volunteered, knowing that they may well lay down their lives? Ryan's chest swelled and he gave them a simple nod, then turned to [member="Shaw McKeller"]. Eyes the color of tempered steel met the tall Knight's gaze.

"You'll be briefed on the flight."

Of course the Mandos hadn't made a deal with the One Sith. They hated Sith. The team would be traveling to Mandalorian Space in order to rendezvous with Ember Rekali, but he wouldn't be telling them all immediately. After Daella turned out to be a Sith Lord hiding amid their ranks, Ryan felt ill inclined to hand out sensitive information unless he absolutely had to, or until it was too late for the enemy to utilize the intel.

"I'll be right back. Gonna get some equipment," the Padawan said in general and he ran towards his quarters that he was staying in. He took the shortest route so he wouldn't be left behind just in case if they were to leave soon. He would take a last glimpse of everything that he passed by, not know if he would survive or die in the mission.

He entered his quarters and before he continued he took a glimpse of the room and then walked. He went to his bed and under it was his equipment that was given to him before he became a Jedi. His kunais, shurikens, bow staff, and his katana. In a corner was his spear but he would bring either his katana or his spear for they would get destroyed easily by a lightsaber. He took his shurikens, his kunais, and an iron chain he placed them in his robes. He had what he needed. He turned to face the door and when he walked to it he took a list glimpse of the room before exiting it.

He then ran back to the group and and took a last glimpse of everything he passed by them. If he died he would just bring those memories with him. He ran back without saying nothing and just heard his footsteps as he ran. He got back to the group, still there and finally said from his trip, "I'm back."

A few feet from Shaw McKellar on the same wall sat one Meeristali Peradun, arms crossed, orange eyes settled in focused attention on Ryan Korr as the Knight addressed those he had summoned, the end of his tail flicking to and fro from where it hung on the other side of the low wall surrounding the serene fountain that stood in stark contrast to the inherently tense nature of what was to come. McKellar asked the question that anyone with two brain cells to rub together was no doubt thinking, and got an answer that the Felacatian had heard, in one form or another, many, many times. He was satisfied enough with the 'need to know' and his position of not being one that needed to know at this time. Quite simply, his was not to question why...

...but it was also not to follow blindly. He'd gauged Korr, formed an impression of the man, and could respect him. Could. It had been too short a time, they had only been subjected to one another in a training atmosphere, but Korr had seen something in him that made his presence here a wanted and needed one. It was left to Peradun to prove that the redhead's judgement of him was sound, and for Korr to be found worthy of the respect that the presently wordless padawan felt he could give.

Otherwise, he wondered when, or perhaps if his Master was going to appear. They had both been summoned, and thus far had worked effectively together, as well as apart. It was a dynamic that he was well used to, and would like to have continue. Briefly, his attention settled on the Zelosian, Master Vosra, and his mind went back to the precise moment he had met the man - thought the amusement at the memory did not affect the curve of his lips, it showed briefly in his eyes.

"Those who wish to come, meet me at the shuttle in hangar 2," Ryan said solemnly, then turned on his heel and strode out of the courtyard.

He already had everything he needed on board the vessel. Right now, he didn't have time to debate with others the merits of going on this mission. They would either trust him and follow him, or they wouldn't. More, he feared the presence of a spy in their midst. With the amount of Jedi falling to the Dark Side, the likelihood of insidious agents embedded in the Order seemed far too great to him, which was why he would be seeking help outside the Order as well.

As he walked toward the shuttle he pulled out a datapad and began writing a transmission to [member="Kitt Solo"], one of the High Councillors for the Lords of the Fringe. He knew the Lords of the Fringe to harbor a great many criminals, but his need was great.

SENDER: Jedi Knight Ryan Korr, Republic
TO: High Councillor Kitt Solo
MESSAGE TITLE: An Urgent Request
STATUS: Encrypted

"Councillor Solo,

I am writing on behalf of the Jedi Order. We are endeavoring on a sensitive mission against the Sith and are in dire need of a stealth transport. Our intelligence reports are scant on the Fringe stealth vessel known as the Sekairo, which I take to mean that it very good at its job. Would your government be willing to covertly lend us the use of one of these vessels for a short mission? It will be returned at the conclusion. Assuming we survive.

Sincerely,
-Ryan Korr, Jedi Knight."
