A SUNDERING DAWN STORY

cismetaldiv5.png

As the hyperlanes falter and the stars grow silent, the Confederacy of Independent Systems finds itself straining under the weight of both external uncertainty and internal unrest. Long dependent on efficient trade, decentralized logistics, and corporate stability, the CIS now faces an unprecedented crisis as smaller-yet-stable hyperlane collapses isolate entire member worlds. Whispers of "a Drift" and reports of ghostly attackers spread like a contagion across the Galaxy and even in Confederate space.

In Parliament, fear clashes with ambition. Some call for restraint and consolidation, while others see the chaos as an opportunity to expand Confederate influence over systems growing desperate for protection. Meanwhile, far from the chamber floors, Confederate patrols and paramilitary contractors are being dispatched to investigate the growing number of disappearances, strange phenomena, and the implications of an ancient power stirring once more.

Is this the unraveling of the very foundations upon which the Confederacy was built - or the dawn of a new Confederate order born from the void...?

Type: Military/Exploration/Paranormal
Location: Kamino & Surrounding Hyperlanes

Kamino, long a loyal yet enigmatic member of the Confederacy, has sent an urgent appeal through its representative, Kama Nu Kama Nu , from the now-far flung Rishi Maze. Trade vessels approaching and exiting the stormy world have vanished without a trace, and distress beacons only return static and shrieking distortions.

The Confederate Armed Forces, alongside contracted paramilitary support and investigative droid units, are dispatched to secure the system, investigate the disappearances, and establish a quarantine perimeter. While pirates or rival factions like the Sith are initially the suspected culprits, the true cause is far more chilling...

Upon arrival, the task force encounters inexplicable anomalies—flickering lights in the clouds, gravity shifts, and then an attack from Starweirds, spectral horrors previously dismissed as spacer legends. The encounter will leave survivors shaken and with more questions than answers. Are these entities in their individuality connected to the Galactic instability? Or is something even older and stranger awakening within the Galaxy, causing all the turmoil?

Goal: Investigate the mysterious disappearances around Kamino. Survive a Starweird encounter. Collect data or artifacts that hint at a deeper cause behind the disturbances.

Type: Political/Economic Strategy
Location: Confederate Parliament, Rothana

As trade routes fracture and systems face isolation, the economic engine that powers the Confederacy of Independent Systems begins to sputter. Supply chains are strained, commerce stalls, and vital resource shipments from outlying worlds like Rishi, Kamino, and Christophis are delayed—or vanish entirely. The Confederacy, long reliant on its decentralized yet efficient network of corporate and planetary logistics, must now confront the reality that its greatest strength is also its greatest vulnerability.

The Confederate Parliament convenes for a Crisis Deliberation Session, presided over by Vice-President Xazzex Xivar Xazzex Xivar , to address the mounting economic fallout. Corporate ambassadors, trade ministers, planetary representatives, and economic advisors present dire projections of prolonged disruption, warning that if action is not taken, famine, recession, and political fragmentation could follow.

Among the proposed solutions: emergency economic aid packages for high-risk systems, the redirection of protected hyperlanes through Confederate space, the creation of local trade cluster agreements to reduce dependency on long-haul hyperspace routes, and new contracts with independent navigators and prospectors to chart safer, alternative paths.

Within these debates, a promising proposal emerges - establishing a regional trade and logistics hub near more stable lanes to anchor the Southern Systems economy. One contender raised by multiple parties is Serenno, due to its cultural influence, economic potential, and centrality near uncollapsed hyperlanes. Though not the focus, the mention of Serenno sparks political curiosity and hints at future expansion plans.

Goal: Deliberate and pass legislation to stabilize Confederate trade during the crisis. Debate short- and long-term economic strategies. Investigate emerging hubs like Serenno as part of broader stabilization efforts, while navigating the political risks of centralization and overreach.

shadowsobj2.png

"...the very foundation of this Confederacy -- the prosperity and free trade among all member worlds -- is in danger of being torn apart. You have all heard the projections that without swift, decisive action by this body today we risk not merely economic ruin, but famine and civil uprisings. Mapping new trade routes and fortifying our supply lines is paramount to ensuring our survival. What this Confederacy needs now is that all representatives put forward their proposals here, now, toward that end."

Xazzex had gotten the session underway as quickly as possible and had the statisticians and analysts present their material. Any effort to proposal or interject unrelated legislation before the reason for the emergency assembly were instantly rejected. This was not a session where she would abide distraction or political grandstanding. After all, this matter affected not only members of the Confederacy but the entire galaxy. Every market on every planet was at risk, including Falleen -- and all the trade Falleen's illicit gains depended upon.

The Speaker turned to regard certain parties as one such idea was proposed. If local hyperspace corridors, perhaps other regions of space were still relatively intact. Somehow, they'd even managed to identify an actual candidate for this proposal: Serenno. How astute of them to be so prepared. Perhaps others might even bolster the suggestion by throwing out reasons why the Confederacy should humor such an idea. "Is there support to establish a new distribution hub on or near Serenno?" she put to the chamber.

They were free to propose alternatives, of course, but she would expect the same sort of explanation how it was any better than Serenno, or dealing with the catastrophe surrounding Rothana.

Standing up from her seat Phee Zti took hold of the podium from there. Scanning around the assembly here she had to fight the urge to shake her head. Just as their Confederacy was just getting on its own two feet when this galactic catastrophe erupted. Tao had managed to stay within its planetary system but the disruption of the hyperspace lanes had hurt the economy at home.

I advocated for further integration into galactic trade. Now the isolationists are screaming for my head because of it.

Thinking all that the voice of Tao spoke.

”I oppose the choice of Serenno. While it is true that it is a strategic point for trade, it doesn't change the fact that the world is beyond our sphere of influence and the lanes are in chaos. Even if the latter weren't so Serenno is closer to the Alliance, Mandalorians and even the Sith. I agree we need a solution to this crisis but one that isn’t on the far end of the galaxy. My proposal is that we strengthen further economic ties with the Naboo Royal Republic."

A Galaxy in crisis. What was new? Tambor thought. Though, in this instance, it did indeed neccessarily affect his profit stream. Though, to the Trade Federation, less than others perhaps. Whilst the commerce conglomerate's income greatly banked on the Galaxy's hyperlanes, the standard operating procedures documenting every planetary route along the Federation's customer base had built in redundancies...and redundancies to those redundancies. Tambor had faced too many galactic calamities to rely solely on what were the carved routes among the stars, having enlisted smugglers, pirates, navigators and explorers to chart other effective routes should main hyperlanes come under the effect of Galactic conflict or peril. As seen by the Third Imperial Civil War, the Second Hyperspace War, the Bryn'adul crisis and- so on. Wars amongst the stars, if you will.

Though, with the Hyperlanes under wavy uncertainty, it became more and more clear to the Skakoan that the Federation need lay proper roots in order to build a greater powerbase. Many worlds had seen its presence already though, had come under the rule of greater sovereign governments. Skako, Cato Neimodia and Muunilinst all prized worlds under the rule of foreign governments. With Entralla and Ord Mantell well within the sights of others. It became clear to Tambor...that he may very well have to step into the ring and pick a side once more.

In spite of their stunted presence on the Galactic stage, it was hardly the first time he'd shoved his chips in with an up-and-coming power. The Confederacy's policies certainly housed a good deal of his interest. He attended this particular parlaiment meeting in order to see the functions of Confederate legislature in action and to see their immediate response to this growing crisis. Along with him, his liason in the Galactic Alliance. The Neimoidian, Lodd Grimmin.

The pair sat in special guest's seating, partions to left and right. The two arrived seperately from Coruscant and Muunilinst respectively.

<"AWWWEEEEER- Grimmin. It is long due we're able to meet face-to-face once more. I assume the journey from the Core was a rather routine one?"> He asked, his finger tips pressed against one another over his abdomen as hovered to his seating. He peered toward the gathering legislators, arching a brow beneath the thick lenses of his goggles before he looked to the fellow alien to his left.

<"Any word from the Alliance Senate? They seem to be quiet...though that is not as if the Alliance government is not still acting militarily in other spheres. It seems in recent days the fiery debates and rhetoric I was rather accomodated to in the Senate has drifted into trudging compliance with the current regime. Though- you are the man with boots on the ground himself.">

shadowsobj2.png

A new era for the Trade Federation as the Trade Monarch had managed to oust Rulonom Laborr Rulonom Laborr from the position of Viceroy and hand control over to former Director Gat Tambor Gat Tambor . Such a power move was atypical of the Neimoidian species but it was a strategic advantage to distance himself from corporate interests to enhance the voting power of the Neimoidian delegation.

Meanwhile, the focus of today's galactic politics lies within the Confederacy of Independent Systems, particularly regarding the Galactic Sundering, which has caused significant disruptions to hyperspace lanes and traditional navigational systems, leading to a gradual decline in trade and commerce as new routes are established and planetary boundaries are adjusted.

Lodd attentively listened as Vice-Head Xazzex Xivar Xazzex Xivar commenced her opening remarks to begin the proceedings, followed by Phee Zti Phee Zti 's objections to the proposal of establishing a regional trading center on Serenno, the residence of House Dooku of the former New Imperial Order.

However, he was largely distracted, concentrating solely on the Viceroy, whose face he was encountering for the first time today.

"Very much routine, except for the lingering Imperial Warlords in the core who are creating minor disturbances for hyperspace travel." Grimmin explained while positioned in the chair adjacent to the Skakoan, his gaze surveying each delegation present and even the members of the Corporate Council whose vested interest was perhaps a conflict of interest.

"The Alliance Senate has fallen into a quiet compliance as you said with the New Organa Regime now that the ghastly Chancellor Auteme is no longer in office to sour the minds and profit margins of the corporations. Though they have saw fit to grant two corporations complete control over there Defense Industry in Si Tech, and Aether Systems. Hardly the top of the line military manufacturers but a potent annoyance that prevents us from penetrating that far into that market." Grimmin would offer a candid evaluation of the circumstances, his fingers idly gliding over the armrest of the chair at the mere reference to the former Chancellor who obstructed the corporation's legislation for an extended period.

Typically at these things, he kept quiet and either sent notes to others in attendance or talked low, providing commentary as he saw fit to his seatmate. Which was often Trade Queen Danger Arceneau or mining magnate Brakkus ; going over what couldn't be said out loud, either due to corporate power plays or the fact that their opinion only went so far.

Today would be a little different. Due to the crisis in the galaxy there was more to speak up on. More to give his opinion on. There was also more to capitalize on. While the collapsing hyperlanes created chaos, there was also opportunity. So far it had been a headache for himself, spending time and energy figuring out new routes, or completely stopping some travel for the moment. Yet business couldn't stop, those who did were sure to go bankrupt and wiped of any influence.

Listening to the proposal of Serenno and then the argument against Serenno, Judah waited for the others to be finished, sitting quietly next to Balun, taking a few notes by hand. It was his youngest son's introduction to government and he didn't expect much but to watch a listen. Judah hadn't told anyone yet - not even Danger - but he wanted to push one of the grandchildren, future or current, into politics to further the interests of Dashiell Incorporated. A long game, one decades in the making, but the old salvager considered these assemblies their first steps.

Standing, he was finally able to take the floor.

"Serenno is too far off the current hyperlane systems. Yes, they may be collapsing but it is only a matter of time before they are re-calculated, the main arteries back in swing." He paused. "However, a trade hub is essential. Vital to this government. Vital even to strengthening the ties with the Royal Naboo Republic. How are we to export if there is no centralized location?"

Ocean blue eyes looked around the room, gauging interest. Mostly boredom.

"It is why I am proposing a trade hub built by Dashiell Incorporated. We retain fifty-one percent ownership naturally, but the Confederacy would have a large sway in its production and operation. However, instead of Serenno I propose Thule. Its closer to the hyperlanes and its a well travelled area. We cannot let the threat over other governments stop economic progress if the Confederacy is to survive these uncertain times."

At twenty-three years old, Balun Dashiell found himself at a crossroads—searching for direction, contemplating what his future might hold. The life he now led bore little resemblance to the structured Jedi upbringing of his youth on Coruscant. Since reuniting with his father, Judah Dashiell, Balun had been ushered into a very different world: one shaped not by ancient teachings or lightsaber drills, but by boardrooms, contracts, and starship manufacturing. His role as head of Dashiell Retrofit™, a subsidiary of Dashiell Incorporated™, had taught him much about the corporate expanse of the galaxy. It also afforded him a rare luxury—freedom. Freedom to pursue other interests beyond profit margins and logistical chains.

He had continued his training in the Force, albeit on his own terms. But recently, a new curiosity had begun to take shape: politics. Not for power or prestige, but as a means of doing tangible good in a galaxy rife with instability.

The Confederacy of Independent Systems, however, was unfamiliar territory. Until now, Balun had known little about its structure or influence—only what his father had shared with him on their journey to Rothana. He came with no expectations of involvement, only a desire to learn. To watch how seasoned politicians navigated the room, how alliances were brokered, and how ideas were spun into influence. It was, after all, a dance Balun had never studied, but one he felt drawn to understand.

He remained, for now, an independent. Free of allegiance, unbound by duty, but increasingly aware of a growing need to belong—to invest himself in a cause greater than business alone. He had spoken with representatives of the Wild Space Republic, even voiced his interest in contributing to their fledgling movement. Yet he understood such ambitions would take time to manifest, and the uncertain pace of their expansion left him quietly vigilant for alternatives. He wasn't opposed to building something from the ground up—he'd done it before—but he also wasn't blind to opportunity when it came knocking.

His focus returned as Judah Dashiell Judah Dashiell made a bold recommendation to the chamber. The look of surprise that flickered across Balun's face said it all—his father hadn't mentioned any intention of taking the floor during this visit. Still, the strategic value of the proposal was plain to see. Dashiell Incorporated stood to benefit greatly from owning and managing a trade hub at the heart of Confederate space. Beyond profit, it meant influence—a strengthened alliance between their family and the Confederacy, a crucial asset in the delicate interplay of corporate and governmental power.

And Balun? He saw the angles already. Dashiell Retrofit™ could seize the opportunity to expand its footprint, potentially securing government contracts for naval retrofits, upgrades, and starship commissions. Whatever the outcome, he was here now, absorbing everything. A learner at the edge of the political fray, beginning to understand just how far his reach might go.

"Speech".
'Thought'.

shadowsobj2.png

Phee's already large eyes widened further at the third proposal given by Judah Dashiell. Thule?! Tao's representative then narrowed those same eyes in suspicion. For some reason the Corporates keep wanting the economic hub to be far outside Confederate Space. It only led to further questions within her mind.

Waiting for a few more moments Phee Zti then said.

"If there is to be a centralized hub it should be within our sphere of influence. While the hyperspace lanes will stabilize eventually placing our economic center at such a far off location gives a tempting target to hostile powers, say the Sith and Mandalorians no matter how much you dismiss them Dashiell. If we go with this route, we would be forced to send a large part of our military to guard Thule with an overextended supply line no less, leaving the defenses of our Confederacy vulnerable."

Sighing heavily the Rodian then declared.

"Perhaps Bothawui could be a help of instead. It's on a hyperspace lane and closer to our borders and additionally it would give the Bothans more incentive to join us officially.”

Aboard the CNV Anarchy

The crisis hit them systematically. Yet, one morning they noticed that some systems were no longer where they should be. It had taken them all some time, but they had located most of their member worlds.

Among them was Kamino - now seated on the other side of the Galaxy in no-mans land.

The loss of such a crucial system in their backyard hit them hard. But they had to endure, nonetheless. And the Army still had its job to do. Reports came in from missing vessels in the System and that Kamino would appreciate some added security as it navigates its newfound neighbourhood.

The Anarchy blipped into the system, the Confederacy extremely glad to have the Foundation as an ally as a covert route mapped by Coren Starchaser Coren Starchaser came in handy in a situation like this.

Xor was still on the bridge while the rest of the soldiers got their tanks or gear ready in the vast hangar.
"Any readings of the lost vessels?" his mechanical voice asked the droid on scanning duty.
"Uh...no, Sir. Not yet." came the annoying monotony of the B1.
A frustrated rumble erupted from the cyborg Kaleesh. "Increase the range of the scanners. If there are any survivors, we need to find them."
"Yes, Sir."
Xor's Kaleesh mask-reminiscent mechanical face swiveled to the only other organic on the bridge.
"I hope you can tend to these brainless droids in my absence, Admiral?" he asked Admiral Sogan Diness.
"Of course, General. We'll find those ships." Diness answered, back straight as a ruler - trained in the Hefi Academy, the great Naval Sephi himself frequented the halls, overseeing that personnel were trained to his perfectionist standard for Naval command.
"Let me know when you do." said the Kaleesh. "I'll be in the hangar."

With that, Xor left the bridge.

Down in the hangar, he looked at especially the organic forces ready. These soldiers had proven themselves time and again in engagements. Though his veteran gut was telling him that something more than Crusaders, pirates or Sith was afoot. He sincerely hoped it was Mandalorians. He had been itching for a good warrior battle. But with very little information to go on, he doubted it was something as simple as his beskar-wearing counterparts. Everyone knew when it was a Mandalorian raid.

This was something else and Xor was damn well glad it was these soldiers and corporate military folk that was at his disposal and not the idiotic B1's. He could deal with the Tac droids and the Commando droids, but the dumber models had his claws twitching to crush them. At least the organics could think outside the box.

"Is everyone's gear ready for whatever we might face in this godforsaken spit of space?"

Late was the hour Brakkus Ka'bo finally entered the Parliamentary Chamber.

His delay was uncharacteristic—but not unwarranted. The same chaos that had called this emergency session was what nearly kept him from attending at all: collapsing hyperlanes, disrupted trade corridors, and a rash of starships vanishing mid-jump. He was lucky to reach Rothana. Dozens of others had not.

Against all odds, he had made it.

By the time he arrived, the session was well underway. The air was thick with debate, tension barely restrained beneath layers of protocol and procedure. Flanked only by a chrome-plated protocol droid, Brakkus moved with purpose down the aisle, his boots echoing dully against the polished stone.

Typically, he would take his seat beside his fellow Corporate Council member, Judah Dashiell Judah Dashiell , who was currently deep in discussion with a cluster of planetary representatives. Brakkus opted not to interrupt. Instead, he slid into an open seat on the aisle, his droid standing silently at his flank.

He took quick note of the younger man beside Judah—unfamiliar, an unknown. A new addition to the Corporate Council? Or simply an aide? There was no time for such speculation. The matter at hand was too great.

The current debate seemed to center around the location of a new distribution hub—a vital response to the fragmentation of supply chains across the Confederacy. Serenno had been proposed first. Thule followed, championed by Judah. Phee Zti Phee Zti had countered with Bothawui.

None of the suggestions sat well with Brakkus.

Of course, if the decision had been his alone, the answer was clear: Ando.

Ando boasted stable transport corridors—ones maintained even through galactic upheaval. The Ando Mining Collective had centuries of logistical infrastructure, skilled labor, and abundant resources. In many ways, the system was built for this exact kind of crisis response.

But Brakkus was no fool. Timing mattered.

So, for now, he remained silent—watching, listening, weighing every word as he prepared to enter the fray.

Ryu had just put on his helmet when the cyborg general arrived. Immediately he tensed up, standing up at attention with rifle in hand along with the rest of the troops. The young Hellion had heard the rumors about the Kaleesh Warlord and it seemed the one about him copying the long dead General Grievous were true after all. Is he a fanboy of him? Takeshi Ryu thought but dared not ask that out-loud.

It was those yellow eyes that gave the young Hellion pause. He was so glad to be wearing the helmet right now to hide his nervous expression. Thankfully the captain next to him quickly answered the commander's demanded inquiry.

"Yes, General, we're all set. All we need now is the command."

Of course staying on the warlord's good side wasn't the only thing on Ryu's mind. For the past few rotations he has been talking with his uncle back home. It sounded like their homeworld, Tao adjusted better to what happened to the Galaxy. Still many people are frightened and confused with some even whispering that the universe is ending.

He didn't believe that part but if a world like Kamino can be thrown to the whole other side of the galaxy then there are other more terrible possibilities out there. Still standing at attention the trooper deep within his mind silently prayed.

Honored ancestors protect my clan and guide my path.

He nodded along with Grimmin's remarks. Half listening to him and half listening to the Parlaiment before his attention shifted more directly to the Neimoidian. <"Hmm- the Alliance has been a long well dried for the Federation, I'm afraid. They've long nationalized the Kuat Shipyards. Though our Entralla installation operates at a comparable capacity. No matter- such a monolopy will lead to what it always does- quality deterioration. Once those sorts burrow into their positions as the sole bidders for contracts, the position allows them to continually increase their costs while allowing their product quality to dminish. The Alliance will realize this in due time."> Tambor explained before his gaze flitted to the Parlaiment.

Speaking of corporate monopolies. The proposal of Dashiell to outright prop up a trading post with majority stakes earned an amused thought from the Skakoan. Though, never in his life had he laughed. <"Ahh- a brazen approach. I can't say I've never seen it work but what he's looking for requires more tactfulness. The Corporate interests present within this budding Confederacy are certainly...overt and its government seems to pay them no mind, encouraging them if anything."> He said, before he looked to Grimmin.

<"It is a fertile plane for our Federation in a way. The competition is good...and I believe we can pose ourselves as more useful and less burdensome whilst planting the seed bed for a steady profit stream. I've been considering lately, Mister Grimmin..."> He seemed to trail into another thought, pre-emptively adjusting the vocoder on his atmo suit to prevent an ever-so-iconic mechanical wail.

<"The Trade Federation has been enjoying a period of autonomy, seperate from the ties of any greater galactic government...but our wealth does not stack too well to when our organization was benefactor to the Empire. The time may arise soon enough that we may have to toss our lot in a more overt and distinct fashion on the Galactic Stage. It's something I need to assemble the Directors over, to garner their thoughts...but whilst we're meeting, I'm curious of your own input."> He remarked, eyes shifting back to the political discourse but his sentiment remained solely focused on the alien to his immediate vicinity.

<"The Alliance is not an amicable partner. Our influence will always be drowned out by Jedi, politicians, nobility...the Sith are- are people I don't ever care to work with again. The Mandalorians are incapable of propping up a sustainable government...should this Confederacy cement itself, it could very well be our lot to throw in with. What do you think?"> He inquired.

Developments. Opportunities. Profits. All words greatly emphasized by Marcy's niece, Iliana Röhr Iliana Röhr , who had gone to great lengths to peel her away from the core systems for her to take a peek at what was developing in the Wild Space territories. She had gained access by proxy, as a prominent figure in the parent company that holds the Röhr Group and its assets- an ideal cover to take a peek into the political happenings of The Confederacy.

And that was just what she'd do.

Marcy' had arrived fashionably late, taking the opportunity to follow the Aqualish ( Brakkus Brakkus ) ahead of her into the chamber, the room abuzz with debate and discussion. She'd made an effort to not be a disturbance to the proceedings, taking the nearest available seat with a half decent view of the room. Once seated, she listened- both to the individuals contributing to the discussion and to those around her; "Where's been mentioned so far?" Marcy' whispered into the seats in front, "Serenno, Thule and Bothawui" the Rodian ahead of her retorted in a hushed tone before going back to their own discussions.

She was curious to know more, but it wasn't her arena- at least not yet.

Lodd eyes remained half-lidded as he listened, offering just the slightest inclination of his head at the key points being made by the Confederate Parliament and its corporate backers such as Judah Dashiell Judah Dashiell 's whose corporate power grab was smart but not at this particular moment, his enterprises while growing strong could not compare to the Federation whose influence came from reliability and commerce instead of bold proclamation.

He made no immediate comment, content to let the weight of Viceroy Gat Tambor Gat Tambor 's words settle before offering a measured response without overly commiting the Neimoidian faction to the plan in its entirety.

"The decline of the Alliance was unavoidable since the fall of Chancellor Tithe." Grimmin remarked, in a clear tone before continuing.

"The concentration of authority within the Organa Chancellorship and complacent senators could only result in stagnation though presents opportunities for those willing to endure the faction's collapse." He arranged his hands neatly in his lap, allowing his thoughts to drift to the deteriorating condition of the Galactic Alliance, whose military power was waning, even as the Chancellor deemed it necessary to address the public via a holonet speech to reassure the populace.

"The Confederacy is a new power on the galactic map, invoking the ideology of its predecessor one in which Confederacy First shut us out completely as a competitor in their market. They encourage corporate entrenchment for the moment, yes but such openness can shift without warning once they taste the fruit of stability. Promises made to us today can be revoked tomorrow when political circumstances deem we are no longer useful." The Neimoidian said with some apprehension at the thought of tying the Trade Federation to the New Confederacy, knowing that Tambor did a similar scheme with the New Imperial Order and once that regime collapsed from overexpansion the Federation's profit margins took a steady decline.

A pause followed, and Lodd's gaze drifted briefly across the Parliament floor, lingering on the animated debates on where a certain trade center would be built either Serenno or Bothan Space.

"When the time comes to gather the Directors, I will lend my voice to prudence, Viceroy. Growth, yes, but without haste. If the Confederacy falters or worse, collapses we must be prepared to withdraw with minimal entanglement." Grimmin gave a slight, formal nod to close his statement, hands resting calmly once more. His demeanor made clear that while he recognized the changing tides, he would not be the first to leap into uncertain waters.

Xazzex regarded the two most vocal members of the parliamentary discussion so far, Phee Zti and Judah Dashiell. Her golden eyes quickly checked for the reactions of the other corporate representatives present. Were they collectively behind the man's suggestion with their vote, or was it an attempt to sway the planetary representatives to his idea? On the other hand, Xazzex was partial to Zti's proposal because the other green woman was a shrewd statesperson; at least the Falleen had not faulted the woman's decorum or intellignece thus far.

"There is no reason this Confederacy must be restrained to a single trade hub," Xazzex pointed out, but did not elaborate further. Even if they constructed one at a time, they need not constrain themselves to just one. Especially with so many distributed rivals or foes in the galaxy.

"I would also urge caution presuming the status of formerly existing hyperlanes. It may prove to be easier to lay out coordinates for entirely new hyperlanes. If anyone here has already gathered data regarding the integrity of existing maps, this Parliament would hear of it." They weren't wrong to at least explore on the basis those lanes did still exist, but basing their entire decision on such an assumption may not be wise. It may turn out to be fortuitious, as sometimes luck matter as much as skill, but Xazzex favored knowledge to the roll of dice.

Her gaze swept over those in attendence. "Any with thoughts where a hub should be built and how to maintain our economic dominance, step forward. Once there is no further debate, I will open the floor to a motion for a vote."

Danger sat near Judah and Balun Dashiell, her posture seemingly relaxed but her mind sharp as the discussion unfolded. The Confederacy's recent challenges It seemed the entire galaxy was on the brix of chaos with the steller resonance with hyperlane collapses, and vanishing trade vessels, and now the unsettling reports from Kamino had thrown the galaxy into uncertainty. 'Course, her granddaddy had told Danger time and time again, that amidst the chaos, opportunities often emerged for those with the foresight to recognize them.

Judah's proposal to establish a major distribution center on Thule wasn't a bad proposition with Danger. Her company already maintained trade stations and warehouses there, making the integration of such a facility both practical and strategically sound. The addition of a robust distribution hub could enhance supply chains, ensuring goods reached their destinations even as traditional routes faltered.

Of course, Serreno's original option wasn't bad either. Decades ago, the Queen of Trade had done plenty of wining and dining the local Serreno nobility there, creating a trade station for Arceneau Trade as well.

To be frank, either course would be right as rain for the redhead Trade Queen. Right now, with the galactic lanes in chaos, it was Danger who was suffering the most in making sure goods were still transported safely and in time. Arceneau Trade had redundencies in place if one hyperlane was affected, but something to this scale was unprecidented. Already a loss of sales, the inability to reach some cargo freighters and worlds was a domino effect. Billions of credits have been spent now trying to find a solution, getting an understanding of what was going on, and not only that but also getting the lanes that were usable charted by skilled astrographers as soon as possible.

The line of Danger's jaw gave a terse twitch. As part of the corporate council, they only had one vote as a whole. As either location was fine for Danger, she decided to show backing to Judah's proposal.

She leaned forward slightly, offering a thoughtful nod.

"Arceneau Trade backs Dashiell's Incorporated recomendation. Thule has the infrastructure we need, and adding a major distribution center would make things flow more smoothly as we rechart the hyperlanes and get an understanding on what is going on, if this mess is still ongoing, or if we can find some sort of stability. Arceneau Trade is already in the process of paying the Astrographer's Guild to chart the differences in the major hyperlanes and what are areas of concern along the Mara Corridor. We are happy to also share the information once it is complete to assist with distribution routes for the Trade Station, as well as provide any resources, such as Solarium Glasteel, for the project."

Multiple distribution hubs? This was an idea Brakkus wholeheartedly agreed with. More trade hubs would only stand to benefit the Confederacy and its allies. But even with this possibility, selecting suitable locations would still be required. If the hubs were too far from one another, they would introduce logistical obstacles—and with the added threat posed by collapsing hyperlanes, they would prevent the network from operating efficiently. Conversely, if they were too close, the network's range would be severely limited, and the resulting competition between hubs could prove disruptive. Of course, competition was not inherently a bad thing, but in such trying times, the people of the Confederacy required stability.

Judah's proposal had gathered momentum with the agreement of the Queen of Trade, Danger Arceneau Danger Arceneau —a powerful ally to have in one's corner. Brakkus had previously noted the relationship between the two. He wasn't yet sure of the extent of their business dealings, but he would certainly be mindful of its existence.

Now was the time for the miner from Ando to throw his hat into the ring. Ando was his choice. Yet this would not be a suggestion based solely on his fondness for his home and his fellow Aqualish. Yes, that was a factor, but as Parliament would soon learn, the Ando System offered significant advantages over the other proposed locations.

Standing up, Brakkus sought the spotlight. Speaking in his native tongue immediately caught the attention of most of Parliament—the bleats and guttural noises a far cry from the polished Basic that had filled the chamber. Almost immediately, the monotone voice of his chrome-plated protocol droid translated his words for all to hear.

"Madame Speaker, although I am not in disagreement with any of the previous suggestions made by the honourable members of this Parliament, I do believe there is a perfect, overlooked location for a trade hub. One not plagued by the complications of distance in what is already a logistical emergency: the Ando System."

An Aqualish recommending the Ando System—who would've guessed? Brakkus was pleasantly surprised not to hear a collective sigh from the chamber.

"Ando is in a prime position to trade with the Galactic Alliance and our friends of the Southern Systems Alliance. As stated previously, we should act with caution regarding the old hyperlanes, but if they recover, Ando sits at the conjunction of the Mara Corridor and the Corellian Run—two routes of critical importance. Nearby systems also provide unique benefits: the crystal mines of Christophis, and the industrial powerhouse of Geonosis, where a substantial portion of our navy is already deployed. Additionally, the main refinery of the Ando Mining Collective is located within the system, where the raw materials required to construct the trade hub—and any additional infrastructure—can be sourced immediately. Unlike other propositions, such a hub would be wholly owned by the Confederacy and its people."

A subtle but deliberate jab at Judah's suggestion of a Dashiell Incorporated-owned hub. Politicians often didn't trust megacorporations, and Brakkus was keen to play into that distrust. Yet it was not as if the Ando Mining Collective would not benefit from such a deal. The supply contracts would be lucrative, of course. But the real prize would be the increased traffic through the system, propelling the Ando Mining Collective's influence from the Mid Rim deep into the Core Worlds. This, however, would remain unsaid.

Still, Ando was not without its issues. The Sith were near—and getting closer. Perhaps the galactic shifts would slow their advances, but only time would tell. Reports of rebel activity in and around the system were also troubling. Both threats could be addressed with the Confederacy's fleet, but that would be far more likely if a major trade hub anchored Confederate presence in the region.

His proposition made, Brakkus returned to his seat, leaving the chamber to deliberate.

CONFEDERATE PARLAIMENT, ROTHANA
CONFEDERACY OF INDEPENDENT SYSTEMS
902 ABY

Tambor nodded along with Grimmin's sentiment. One that was astutely informed on Confederate policy, more than Tambor might've anticipated given how small-a-scale this budding government was especially with his scope primarily set on the behemoth on the Galactic stage that the Alliance was. However, it wasn't as if there wasn't historical context to derive from. Tambor remembered well of his rivals in the Confederate corporate sector. The IGBC, Roble Manufacturing. All once titans now relegated to obscurity.

<"Undoubtedly, Mister Grimmin. Your apprehension and reluctance is well founded, it is not as if this is the first Confederate experiment in recent years. But as much as I would wish to heighten the stage and scope of the Federation...I would not enter an agreement with a greater government that isn't wholly within our terms with a means of exfil written in written word. Of course, such governments are always keen to neglect the finer terms but...the Federation would not endure as it has if we were not ones prudent to such concerns. It is a matter to which to be discussed in greater lengths...between us, the Directory and I would not be so short-sighted as to draw the intent and ambitions from Confederate leadership myself."> Tambor explained as he eased back into his seat.

<"Of what in this Galaxy...do you eye potential, Mister Grimmin?">
