The sound of Kalic's droid beeping, followed by the man scolding his own droid only served to annoy Taozi further. Turning her head slightly, and shooting him a small glare, Taozi sighed.

"The locals spoke of a group of lakes that seemed to have healing properties. We're headed there to see if this is similar to hot spring, or if there's something... More, to the water. Like a strain of bacteria similar to what's used to make Bacta. If it's the latter, then my Clan and I have more business here than I thought we would."

"In other words you have no idea how to take a vacation, dear cousin."

"Maybe not, but say that again and I'll make sure your little secret crush gets spread around, Feng."

"YOU WOULDN'T DARE!"

"I would dare."

Xiao snickered as she listened to her twin and cousin banter, before slowing her pace to match Kalic. Leaning in, she whispered just loud enough for Kalic himself to hear, as Feng and Taozi pushed and shoved each other playfully ahead of them.

"I hope my cousin hasn't rubbed you the wrong way. She can be a bit harsh without really meaning to, you know? She's... She's had a lot of responsibility on her shoulders most of her life, and she's seen a lot of fethed up awful things. Don't take anything she says to heart, all right?"

“Pizza!” Cameron smelled it before she saw it, turning to face her sister, Lyssa, to answer her hug in kind.

“Thank you, Lyssa. I feel great now! Just a little lingering soreness.” Cameron began. ”And one of my aunts? Oh my gosh, I can’t wait! But first...” The speedster added, moving immediately to tear into her pizzas, before pausing upon hearing her mother’s voice. “Hmm?”

Her eyes went wide as Xiphos held out the weapon, a crossguard lightsaber of mildly ornate design, with a shimmering chain running along the hilt. She could only hardly restrain shedding a tear when her mother told her that it was a gift, to mark her as a member of the family. It went without saying that it was a strange one indeed, composed of hyper-advanced sapient Nuetralizer droids and gynoids, a vat-grown Zanshi, and Vampires. Nevertheless, Cameron loved them all, but that only made her fear of losing them all the more severe, to the point where she was reluctant to relax, always training and working so that she could become stronger in order to better protect them.

“T-thank you, M-mom.” Cameron stammered out. However, before activating the lightsaber, Cameron moved in for a hug, considering the warm embrace of her mother to take precedence over a material object. Only after, did she turn on the blade, taking in the fact that it didn’t seem to radiate heat like a traditional lightsaber, but rather, cold. The hilt fit perfectly in her hand and was also very light, meaning that the weapon would be of negligible encumbrance to her while running.

It was perfect.

Cameron gave it a few swings before turning off the blade, not wanting to let the weapon go for fear of losing it. Then, she turned to Hadrian, giving him a smile and a hug in spite of his skeletal chassis, along with Miranda as well. Finally, when Miranda arrived, Cameron beamed at the mention of her aunt being a psychic Android Vampire. Nevertheless, she hugged her regardless, not holding back any of the overflowing love she had for her family.

“It’s so good to have everyone here~” Cameron said, blushing as she did. “I-I guess...training can wait...for now.” She added with a soft smile, before finally sitting down to eat her pizzas. However, even then, Cameron couldn’t fully relax.

“What are our plans after Vjun and…” Her words hung in the air, as everyone there was keenly aware of the crumbling Sith Empire, along with the threat of the Maw rising in the galactic North...

Finding a way out of her stupor, Corin walked on, her eyes forward. It took all she had not to look at the Empress, to keep going without stopping to gawk like some slack-jawed idiot after one too many drinks. It wasn't easy, but she managed. The talk of volleyball was still ongoing as she passed the group, and for a brief moment the Ultranaut considered offering her services. Considered it, and opted not to. It was not her place to interrupt one of the most powerful beings in the whole galaxy, after all. It was her place to serve, and to speak when spoken to. Soldiering for idiots, as her old XO had liked to say.

Making her way up the beach in silence, her mind racing, Corin couldn't help but cast a glance over her shoulder at the slowly diminishing group.
The Empress, she thought, shaking her head distractedly for what felt like the twelfth time in what could only have been minutes.

Stepping into one of the beachfront bars -she didn't quite catch the name above the entrance- Corin made her way to the bar through a throng of bodies that seemed to heave to and fro with every step she took. Gesturing at the bartender, she ordered up two nonalcoholic drinks, before taking one in either hand and walking back the way she'd come. A familiar voice called out to her from the crowd, and Corin raised a glass in salute as she passed through the sea-facing doors and out into the sunshine again.

By the time she reached her old spot, the Empress' group had gravitated towards one of the many volleyball courts that were drawn up in the sand. Well, most of the group had anyway. Passing by one of the not-so-subtly dressed guards, Corin could not help but notice that one of the women who had been with the Empress earlier had separated herself from the flock. Curious, the Ultranaut let out a sigh as she threw caution to the wind and changed course, warm sand sluicing around her feet as she approached the dark-clad figure.

Sitting down beside Lilanna Kelamvor Lilanna Kelamvor as the players picked sides, Corin folded her legs beneath her. For a moment, she thought that maybe she'd made a mistake forcefully inserting herself into the Empress' entourage. But then the thought passed. "Here," she said, turning to offer the woman one of the drinks, a slight smile twisting her features.

Lilanna waited with baited breath as the women, and stranger, began to plan out how to begin their game. She had managed to squeak out of the game, stepping back as the force had spared her this fate. "Apologies Lady Invixa, perhaps next time." She said softly, and took her leave, offering to be the 'scorekeeper' rather than a player. Clad in robes and desiring to no longer make a spectacle of herself, she retreated back to the comfort of shade.
Nyxie went to enjoy herself, and the rest of the players would take their positions. Meanwhile, Lil found the largest patch of shade and set herself up, still clad in her robes, her body concealed from the rest of the world's prying eyes. Perhaps she shouldn't have been here to begin with, she could do much better training. Her eyes fell away from the game as it began to set up, the warden pondering what sort of life she could pursue if not for her injuries.
She was broken out of these musing by the stranger who approached, drink in hand, and offer a cup to the warden. Lil looked at the woman for a moment, her face still exposed; burn scars and all. She blinked twice, before a half smile came across her scared face, taking the cup in hand. "Thank you." She said quietly, taking the drink and retreating back into her shell. There was silence for a moment, as the former Sith mulled over the drink. "Are...you with that one?" She asked, pointing toward Aleksander, unsure as to who else the woman would be here with. "Apologies. I am...Lilanna." She paused for another moment, sipping the drink, and finding she didn't outright hate it. "Are...you wanting to join the next game?" She asked, her eyes studying the woman across from her, unsure as to her purpose here.

"Thank you." The woman said, and Corin nodded in return. "No problem." Taking a sip of her drink, the Ultranaut Captain settled back on her haunches. Shaded and relatively comfortable, she watched the others as they arrayed themselves either side of the net that marked the border between teams. Glancing back to the woman, Corin watched languidly as she studied the contents of her drink, perhaps in order to decipher what the gesture meant. Or what the drink actually was. Corin didn't know herself, but it tasted good and was more than a touch refreshing.

On a day as hot as this one, they'd need it.

When the woman asked if she was here with Aleksander Castellanos Aleksander Castellanos , Corin smiled, shook her head gently. "No," she answered, her tone amused. "I'm with her." Raising her freehand, the Ultranaut pointed towards Ingrid, smiling what she thought was an enigmatic smile. It was an answer of sorts, though, it lacked details. Which was fine. Only a small amount of digging would reveal who she was, what she was. Corin had always been rather open about that.

"Name's Corin. Pleased to meet you, Lilanna." Raising her glass, she took another sip, encouraged the Sith to do the same. Setting her attention on the game, she barely noticed Lil as the woman regarded her, something like curiosity or confusion in her eyes. Staring back, the Captain smiled under Lil's scrutiny, an eyebrow raised in question.

"Are...you wanting to join the next game?"

"Hmm, nope." Tilting her head to the side, Corin pondered the question a bit more. "Thought I'd just watch and learn. They don't need me out there." There was a pause. "Might go for a run after, when the sun's settled down. For now, this is entertainment enough." The Ultranaut gazed at Lilanna. "You?"

Kalic chuckled a little as he watched Taozi and Feng, finding the interaction between the almost hilarious. He'd know people like Taozi in the past who were all work no play, but he guessed she'd loosen up some when they found these ponds. Xiao would then whisper, telling him not to take anything her cousin said to heart. The Miraluka would smile a little, nodding before he spoke up.

"Thanks for the heads up. I'll make sure to remember that. She kinda sound like a few spacers I know."

There seemed to be no escape, she knew it would all be painful, but it was impossible to play sports in her dress. Ingrid turned off her dress and let it fall to the ground, dropped her straw hat as well, and walked onto the playing-field in her bikini. Her airy/ethereal physique was especially striking now.* She was lean, but also muscular, just enough, which isn't striking yet, but it still looks. She had snow-white skin, not Dark Side corruption, just as much as is natural for a person living on an ice/tundra planet. What was perhaps striking was that there were no moles on her body, her skin was perfect. And so it even seemed at least fifteen years younger than her real age.

Most of these were not even due to shape-shifting, the lack of moles and the youthful appearance were all due to her genes. The lack of scars were the work of the plastic surgeons in the past because, as an agent whose main area of expertise was seduction, scars were not acceptable. The woman didn’t care about the crowd nor the fact they watched her. It is true that the Empress could not be seen this way many times.

The sunlight was painful, luckily someone turned the roof near the place to cast a shadow on the playing-field. This made it more comfortable to play. Ingrid's movements were like a big cat or predator, so now she could see even more than in armour how unique her movement culture was, both military and non-military. Something very exotic, just one thing is certain, she was ready to fight at every moment and death was hidden in her every movement. Fast, graceful, elegant and deadly.

The woman listened intently to Lady of Blood about the rules; it didn't seem that hard yet, she nodded at her.

<"So how do we get started?"> she asked

No matter how many times she watched those who were gifted with the arcane touch of the Force wield their art, Ivixa was always stricken with awe. Therein, her golden eyes went wide as the Lady of Blood manifested her shadowy illusions on the sand court to explain the rules of the game to the Empress, who had seemingly changed her mind and decided to play, much to Ivixa’s delight.

“That’s the essence of it, my Lord.” Ivixa said to the Empress as Nyxeris finished her demonstration. “It’s a pretty simple game at its core.” She added.

From there, the diminutive Asa’nyx stepped on the court, taking Aleksander Castellanos Aleksander Castellanos as her partner, to face the Empress and the Lady of the Blood on the opposite side of the net. Being less than four feet tall, Ivixa took position further away from the net, letting her handsome partner stand closer so that he could handle blocking and setting, where she could handle passing and hitting.

At least, that was the plan.

“Let’s do this!” She cheered, already reveling at the prospect of teaming up with such an Adonis, against perhaps the most prolific assassin in the Unknown Regions and the enigmatic Lady of Blood.

Then, assuming a low stance, Ivixa took a deep breath as she waited for Nyx or Ingrid to deliver the first serve...

Xiao breathed a sigh of relief, happy that Kalic seemed to understand that her cousin wasn't malicious in nature, just a little... Hurt, in a way that never healed. Placing a hand on the Miraluka's shoulder, Xiao would give him a small squeeze, before hearing the sound of someone running through the bushes of the jungle. The sound of Feng sputtering also caught Xiao's attention, and she looked over to see that Taozi had ran ahead.

"Taozi?!"

"What the heck, Taozi?!"

"I have a feeling the lakes are nearby, follow me!"

The twins groaned and rolled their eyes, but followed after their cousin quickly, unsure of what gave Taozi such a strong feeling she had to run. The sound of birds flying overhead, twigs breaking, and foliage moving filled their ears as the group ran through the jungle. It almost reminded Taozi of her time on the Green Planet. Soon enough, the greenery of the jungle fell away to reveal the shimmering, almost sparkling, crystal blue waters of the lake.

"Found it, finally."

"Now what?"

"Feng, I love you dearly, but sometimes I wonder if you were dropped on your head as an infant. We collect samples of everything. The water, the soil, plants, everything. Our Miraluka friend can help us carry everything back."

"Rude."

Splitting up, Taozi began collecting samples of the water, Feng gathered plant samples, and Xiao started to collect soil into containers.

She blinked at the woman several times, as Corin indicated she was here with the Empress herself. A member of Ingrid's escort perhaps? Then why wasn't she more heavily armed? The woman smiled at her, and Lil wasn't sure what the proper response was. She awkwardly smiled back, before trying to hide the expression behind her drink. Seriously, who the hell was this woman? She blamed her gap in knowledge of how the Empire operated for that. "I see. I'm with her." She replied after taking a sip, her finger indicating Nyxie, as a game of volley ball was about to take place.
To her surprise, she hadn't witnessed a single reaction to her appearance yet. Something that was a record for her. It felt nice. Hearing that Corin had no intentions of joining in the game, Lil felt it only proper to respond. "I see." She paused for a moment, taking another sip, still not used to these types of conversations. "I don't know what I will do. Perhaps escort the Empress or see to the needs of my master." She half frowned at that, knowing she was still under orders to have fun. How dreadful. "I don't know what to do during these types of things. I'm so used to being given orders." She confessed, the warden taking another drink, before realizing she had already drawn half of her cup.
Still clad in her grey robe, she felt the heat gathering, and reluctantly removed the vestment. Long jagged scars decorated her exposed arms, a lightning shaped burn had been traced along her neck, followed by a collection of marks she had earned during her time in the Empire. As damaged as her body might have been, she wasn't about to have a heat stroke over it.
Corin would accept it or not, there was little else the Warden could do about who she was. Her eyes looked to the game unfolding before the pair now, quietly cheering for her mentor to emerge as the victor; though she hadn't a clue as to what the hell was going on. This game had rules, right?

Kalic was a bit surprised at the squeeze on his shoulder, but wouldn't seem too spooked. At least until he heard the rustling, and he'd soon see Feng. She seemed a bit winded. Had Taozi chased her that much? Come to think of it, the Mandalorian seemed familiar.... Then she would call out that she found the lakes. Kalic would soon follow behind Xiao, speaking up as he did.

"Well she seems calmer now." He would continue to keep up as Jee whistled from behind, seeming a bit surprised by all the stuff that she was seeing there. The droid bobbed around in the air as she looked at the lakes, while Kalic stopped and stared, trying to pick out anything different about this water than what he had seen normally. It may have seemed odd to do, but his vision wasn't like the others'. Not that he noticed much.

Then he heard Taozi, and nodded. "Yeah. I can go that."

Corin listened patiently, her eyes on the game though they may as well have been on Lilanna. That was where her attention was after all. Smiling gently, the Captain followed Lil's finger to where it pointed. Ah, I see. Your Master? "I can see why. She's pretty." The Ultranaut teased, her voice just as gentle as her expression. So far, Lil had been rather... timid? Shy? Trying to coax her out of her shell seemed natural to Corin. She liked to know who she worked with, and, having established they were both sworn servants of the Empire, it seemed sensible to try and get to know her better.

"Orders? So you're a soldier then?"

Nodding to herself, Corin accepted that explanation before Lil had even replied. Though slight, the woman beside her looked like she could handle herself, even if she couldn't handle a decent conversation. That was unfair. Lil could handle it, all right. She just wasn't aware of the fact. Nodding again, the idea of being sat beside a fellow soldier stuck with the Ultranaut, right up until her new acquaintance began to disrobe.

At first, Corin understood it as Lil seeking to battle the heat. She still understood it that way, even as she began to pay closer attention to the person sat next to her. Her eyes widened a fraction as she took in Lil properly. Though she tried not to, Corin couldn't keep herself from studying the scar-crossed skin covering the Apprentice's slender arms and legs. White lines against pale skin, the Captain knew instantly that they were not a soldier's scars, but something much, much more unforgivable.

Frowning, the Captain studied Lil some more, her gaze one of concern, not curiosity. The skin covering her stomach and chest was much the same as that of her arms and legs. For some undeniably human reason, Corin began to understand Lil's apparent shyness. Clearly, the wounded flesh reflected the soul within. Or something along those lines.

Shifting her gaze, the Ultranaut looked Lil in the eye, her expression expectant. Of what exactly, the Captain didn't know. An explanation, maybe. Or perhaps companionable silence. She was fine with either.

'Pretty'. The words reached Lil's ears, seeing that it was directed at Nyxie, to which the former Sith merely nodded. Her cheeks turned the faintest trace of pink, as she nodded; the implication that they might have been more than just master and apprentice being the source. Yes, her master was pretty. Not so long ago, she too used to be 'pretty'. It was something of an irony now. Before her time with the Sith she had been seen as beautiful, but after a round of two of torture and a few years of Sith 'training', it wasn't hard to conceive that one might be considered 'damaged beyond recognition'. At times she wondered how drastic of a change she had undergone.
Her cover was now shed, the faded lines of her past 'sins' were now open for viewing, and she felt the gaze of Corin wash over her. There wasn't disgust coming from that glance, but a sense of mystery, curiosity. That wasn't uncommon. When you were a walking art display of scar tissues,
"Something like that." She responded, a sadness taking over her tone. She was intent on watching the game, but the gaze of Corin was far more vexing of a matter than who could smash a ball into the hardest. Her head slowly turned, grey eyes locking with the woman's, as they were now engaged in one of the most awkward staring contests this side of the outer rim. She blinked twice, waited several heartbeats, but eventually would speak once more.
"They're from my last master, if you must know." She said, almost matter of factly.
The pain she had undergone during her service in the Empire wasn't what lingered with her. It had always been what she was willing to do to avoid it that truly scared her. Lil's gaze remained on the woman, trying to figure out what exactly it was that she wanted, and why she had taken an interest in speaking with her.
No one wanted to talk with her.
Not unless they wanted something.
So what did she want?

<"It doesn’t seem that complicated, thank you for the representation!"> she said after the illusions.

Based on that, it really didn’t seem that hard, especially the whole thing was done with dexterity. She knew it was probably more complex and complicated than that, but so at first glance she came to that conclusion. Ingrid looked at the crowd for a moment, looking for her husband and son. They were both tall enough to rise above the crowd and therefore would have been easy to spot, but the woman had not seen them yet. From this she assumed that Tubrok had not yet found Eyjolf and Adrian.

So the woman turned back to the playing ground and looked at the Lady of Blood for a moment, then at the young man on the other side of the track and Ivixa. She didn’t really feel like the game was a fair fight, not even that she couldn’t really use the Force currently, but thanks to her species, she was still a stronger, faster person with good reflexes and speed. She tries to be more careful not to stand out that she is not human.

<"Then I think I'll start."> she said.

With this she took the ball in her hand and then punched it to the other side with the method she had seen earlier, i.e. she tried to serve.

Corin nodded as if Lil's answer settled things. In truth, it raised more questions like is your former Master still alive and if so where can I find them? Holding the gaze for a few seconds longer, the Ultranaut was slow to turn her head away. When she did, it was as if a great weight had been lifted from her chest. "Okay." Taking a sip of her drink, Corin brought herself a few small moments to think on what to say. It was no surprise -at least to her- that she came up with nothing.

I mean what can you say to that?

"Well, from that little blush I saw earlier, I imagine this one treats you just fine." That sounds all right. Smiling faintly, the Ultranaut settled back on the sand. Until now, she hadn't paid much attention to the game of volleyball or -more surprisingly- the Empress. Now, however, things were beginning to heat up. Metaphorically speaking.

"I didn't mean to pry. I only came over cause the goddamn Empress is playing volleyball, and 'cause I thought you looked kind of... lonely?" Turning onto her side, an elbow helping keep her face from the sand, Corin looked at Lil, an apologetic glimmer to her eye. "Got to thinking you might appreciate some company. Not that you need it or anything." Looking back to the makeshift court, the Captain couldn't help but be a bit envious. "You are friends with one of the most important people in the Galaxy after all."

Smiling, Corin waited to see if her attempt at lightening the mood would work. Fingers crossed, ey?

Clearly she had misunderstood the situation, as Corin went quiet, and Lil found herself unable to say anything else. She felt she had just blown up the entire conversation with her talent at social sabotage. Until Corin made that comment about Nyxie, to which Lil wanted to just disappear.
Something of a low grumble came from the woman, as she turned her head away, her face taking up a beet red color to it. "Well, she does. Nyxie is one of my few friends." That was certainly true, and honestly, Lil cared a great deal for the woman. The game was starting, though Lil was distracted by the conversation they were having at current, her attention returned to Corrin as the women mentioned that she was lonely.
Wasn't that the truth.
Her shoulders dropped a little, the Warden realizing that she was that much of an easy to read book. "I am lonely, but past experience has shown it's for the best." She said, feeling like she told herself that every damn day from what she could recall. "I only serve the Empress, I'm...not exactly her friend. More of a tool." She clarified, having felt it necessary to clarify just what her business was and why she was here.
She wasn't important at all. Just another cog in the war machine.

With her height, Ivixa was best as a facilitator, as she was somewhat quick on her feet and better balanced than most other players. However, when the Empress served the ball, sending it over to her partner’s section of the court, which was closer to the net, he bounced the ball high in the air, presenting Ivixa with a somewhat decent opportunity to hit the ball back only on the second touch. However, as much as she wanted to, Ivixa didn’t take it, instead opting to bounce it back towards her partner, grunting as she did, close to the right side of the net. Then, he spiked it over, a powerful strike towards the middle of the opposition’s court, perhaps hoping to induce some form of miscommunication between the two women if they both went for the ball.

All the while, Ivixa reset her position towards the rear, golden eyes assessing her opponent’s positions in order to best predict where they could manage to return the ball.

Regardless of the outcome of that particular round, the four players, composed of two Assassins, one who was also an Empress, a Sorceress, and a Knight, played through a full set, then another one, embracing the opportunity to relax on the beach, the maladies of the galaxy far from their minds as they engaged in the playful, athletic competition into the hour and perhaps beyond...

It was an unknown game for the woman, so she watched her teammates after hitting the ball to the other side of the playground. The culture of movement is how they move for the ball. The same was true for her own companion, Lady of Blood. And most of all, she was still wondering what the punches and blocks really looked like. Illusions are not necessarily accurate and perfect. The movement of people is yes.

As she saw the movements, they didn't cause problems for her. As she was able to walk, Ingrid started to learn to fight, which required dexterity and a sense of balance. As far as she could see, this sport also needed it. Not to mention teamwork. A partner she already knew would have been better at this, but now everyone here was a stranger to the other. Nothing could be perfect, not even this. Fortunately, however, she adapted well and learned quickly, though she was a lone wolf rather than a team player. Assassin; but from preferring this, she was also able to work perfectly in a team.

The next moment, the ball had already flown back thanks to Ivixa. Ingrid quickly considered the situation. Nyxeris was closer to where the ball landed, if she moved, they might collide, which would be uncomfortable. She assumed the parties were communicating in short words during the game, so she did the same; out loud, not with telepathy.

<"It's yours!"> she said.
